As I write my Aralas fic I keep trying to come up with ways for Aragorn to become immortal. Even though my fic is set 60+ years before FOTR, and Aragorn won't die in cannon for another 190 years, I am forced to deal with his mortality compared to the elves. 210 years is a VERY long time, but when it is compared to an elf who has already lived over a millennium, it's basically moments.

I've tried to come up with loopholes, like Eru made Tuor immortal, couldn't he do that for Aragorn? Couldn't Legolas sneak him into the undying lands like he did with Gimli in cannon? Aragorn is technically part of Elros's bloodline, so theoretically shouldn't he be able to choose between mortality and immortality like Arwen?

But in the end I keep coming back to the same place. Yes, there are plenty of ways I can make him immortal, but maybe I don't have to. Maybe in the end Aragorn dies and he and Legolas don't get to be together in the undying lands, and maybe that's okay.

When characters constantly cheat death it cheapens it, it takes away its meaning. Aragorn, and the rest of the men for that matter, were given the gift of mortality, a precious, precious gift in the eyes of Eru. Why should he give that up?

Nothing can last forever, not in life and not in fiction. Shouldn't it be enough just to enjoy it while we have it?

The fictional characters in my head do pay rent, but not with money. They pay with sleepless nights, anxiety that they’ll never be real, and alarming amounts of fan fiction written about them

So though it is true that Narnia and Tolkien do have Christianity written into them, the main messages are not inherently religious. The ideas of good and friendship and fighting for what you believe in, whether religious or not, are for everyone, not just christians. I am an atheist and I still relate to the main themes in these works because even if I don’t believe in god I believe in other things such as love and loyalty, which are also themes in these books. So even if the authors were christian, the stories can still be relevant and relatable to all.

So stop gatekeeping. The stories do not belong to a specific religion and can be enjoyed and interpreted by all.

Non-Christians should not be allowed to touch Narnia or Tolkien/LOTR. Those were made for us and belong to us.

So Newsies. I just got back into it and rewatched livsies and 92sies. I still prefer livsies because the music and dancing is way better tho that is the perk of a musical. I do like 92sies tho, I like how Brooklyn comes in earlier and I also like some smaller moments and things. I prefer Kathrine to Sarah, because Sarah was kinda just there and the closest Jack could get to Davey in a movie made in a heteronormative society. I also like crutchie and les better in the musical, as in the movie they were just kinda there or really dumb. Though I like the musical Santa Fe better I crack up during 92sies Santa Fe because Jack just straight up steals a horse. Like what. Who thought of that???? I like in the movie how we see the newsies passing out the Newsies Banner, but I prefer livsies Once and For All. I also like over all I prefer the musical, but I will admit that the movie has some things I do like better and isn’t bad. Anyway no hate to people who like 92sies better, it is good, but I personally don’t think it is as good as the musical. Though the Javey and Sprace content is good.
