As well all know, Atsushi’s haircut is the result of the other kids at the orphanage. They would cut his hair without caring, and any time he tried to cut it himself, they would take the scissors and “cut it for him.”

So it’s only natural that Atsushi would grow to hate getting haircuts from anyone.

It’s not that he doesn’t trust the kind people in his life to try their best, (well, except maybe Dazai) it’s that it reminds him so much of what the other kids would do. And that puts him on edge the entire time.

He sits there, waiting, expecting them to suddenly yank his hair and start cutting at random while laughing and taunting him. And he hates feeling like those he cares about are going to hurt him. So he cuts his hair himself.

Maybe one day he can re-learn that trust, but for now he’s content to do it himself. Even if he’s less than good at it.

It was emotional/psychological abuse and manipulation but not physical or sexual abuse. The problem with this fandom is that they think abuse has to be physical or sexual to be harmful and traumatizing enough and that psychological abuse isn't as impactful compared to the latter. Which is a problem, it is also leads to painful mischaracterization of Mori, making him a lot more crueler and morally black than he is which is unfortunate.

I think the problem with Mori becomes that people tend to generalize him as this ultimate evil abuser. So they make him a sexual predator and a torture technician on top of his manipulative behaviour who got a kick out of hurting and maiming kids and justified it with a higher purpose/search for knowledge *cough*Shibusawa&N*cough*.

However Mori isn't some ultimate evil abuser. He is an extremely complicated character and not once is it actually mentioned or even implied that he is sexually attracted to children. However, Mori was infact physically abusive towards Yosano, less in the sense of beating her but rather using physical force to intimidate her.

He isn't a good person. But he also wasnt going around smacking kids across the room like some mustache twirling puppy kicking supervillain.

What do you mean by the implication of your telepathic connection? Why would you bring up a prince waking up his princess "the wrong way" in that gentle softly teasing voice? What do you mean you would jump to your death and fight a dragon for him? What do you mean you trust him with keeping you safe from your unhinged suicide plans when you haven't even told him about said plan? What do you mean you will hold his head in your lap to protect him after and keep your hand in his hair just because you can? What do you mean that he is the only thing on your mind in the middle of corruption and not only is his name the only thing you have ever said in that state but you we're able to control your strength to not even bruise him? What do you MEAN I am not supposed to see this as a confirmation of there being something as genuine as love there when THIS is a canon event?
