Surface Pressure & Pegasus Feathers AU/fic Concepts: Zephyr Lily / Rain Flower :)

Here is a quick visual aid for Zephyr Lily (also known as Rain Flower in Skyworld), Dark Pit's pegasus companion in my KUI AU/fic! (Btw if you're seeing this concept for the first time, everything related is linked in my fic under read more :)

Here are some story-related fun facts ^^

-She was adopted by her herd when she was a foal (Snowfall Fury & Dust Storm took care of her, and she later helped look after their foals (her siblings) for a while before meeting Dark Pit and deciding to leave the nest to help him with his missions)

-Inspiration for her design/name: When I was younger I got a black horse stuffed animal with a white spot on its forehead, which was like the center of a flower to me, so I named her Flower! 

Dark Pit thinks the same thing, except he chooses a specific kind of flower: A rainflower/zephyrlily :)

Because of her inspiration, I like the idea that she was a stuffed animal brought to life through some magic means somehow. I don't know how it would make sense technically, but I think it makes her being drawn to Dark Pit extra special because they were both born from magic ^^

-Rainflowers symbolize rebirth, new beginnings and big expectations (very relevant to Dark Pit in this fic)

It also has another meaning:  "I love you back, I must atone for my sins, I will never forget you"

I would split this between three characters.

I love you back (Dark Pit), I must atone for my sins [mistakes] (Palutena), I will never forget you (Pit)

But telling you exactly why would be spoilers lol, I like to be cryptic ;)))

You can definitely theorize though, all will be clearer eventually! ^^

Here's an illustration for a scene from my new fic/AU! :)

I think another reason why Dark Pit calls Pit a puppet is because that's how Pit feels sometimes, and here those feelings are manifested in a vivid dream (nightmare, beyond this point).

School threw a dent in my plans of drawing/editing this idea today, so I'm sharing this here cause I think you in particular might find it amusing too since you headcanon Dark Pit as Aro :)

I like to imagine that in modern times what Dark Pit does on Valentine's day is buy himself a TON of chocolate lol (There is tons of it, so why not)

Here's the first concept sketch I made for another Kid Icarus AU :)

Idea: After the events of KIU, Pit starts to make some changes to his schedule and picks up a hobby, as per Dark Pit's suggestion. He becomes an inventor/craftsman with the help of Dyntos and makes himself and Pittoo a pair of functional wing enhancers made with pegasus feathers. The devices allow them both to fly on their own. Here Pit is watching Pittoo take off with his set of wing enhancers for the first time ^^

This AU is called Surface Pressure and Pegasus Feathers! (also the name of a fanfic I'm working on for it :)

The first part of the title is because it's fun to imagine the song "Surface Pressure" from Encanto as Pit venting to Dark Pit lol. I scripted an animatic, but decided showing how the lyrics relate though a fanfic would allow me to show this concept sooner lol)

More fun ideas in the fanfic:

-Pit and Dark Pit get pegasus friends and name them ^^

-The bois learn how to read & write

-Dark Pit is determined for Pit to find his own way to deal with his issues (and is also really good at persuasion)

-The fic is essentially about what it takes for Pit to fully learn "philautia" (regard for one's own happiness/self-love.) He has a lot of agape (Selfless/unconditional love), but it needs to be balanced :)

Surface Pressure and Pegasus Feathers Chapter 1: Worth & Service (My Purpose) Ahh, nothing like a nice long morning stroll through Skyworl

Meme moment in the fic:

That would curtainly be an interesting thing to witness xD

(I just now realized how intense the colors of the reference I used for Phosphora were lol. I'm easily entranced by bright colors)

If I were to give it an explaination, I'd say this close to what happens when she stands in an intense ray of light from the sun / other bright light sources. Her fur stands out alone already but under those conditions, it tends to take on a luminesent look that would make any regular person do a double take and question what reality they're in lol

Darkpaw takes it as a sign that it's too bright / hot outside to be in the sunlight lol. If she looks somewhat like this (an actual lightning flash) :

He's either not coming out of his den that day or jumping in a pond lol

And indeed they are!! :D The Fluffball of Darkness is quite content with his funky new plant family ^^

DARKPAW IN NATURECLAN HOURS :))

Top left: Darkpaw makes sure he's taken seriously upfront, whilst also sounding very ominous. Vineblossom is very confused oof, That moment when a child breaks into your home and announces he killed your enemy

Top right: Vineblossom is even more bewildered about his terms of living on her territory and only being identified as a "Warrior of Nature", but ends up accepting him anyway. The clan needs the help. (And she is also concerned for his health because of the state of his tail.)

[There's also a reference to Farvaduvet's "silly KIU AU" because Vineblossom would definitely give him a flower to wear and it would likely be a petunia lol]

Bottom left: That moment when you just sat down after doing chores but then someone asks you to do another task >:(

(Darkpaw is annoyed, and the flower suffers. Fun fact: Petunias represent soothing nature, resentment, and anger)

But look, the leaf is back! He found one like the one he wore when he was younger :)

(I imagine they use honey or treesap to put accessories on their fur. Or sheer force of will and artistic freedom)

Also, Serenemoon is Arlon. He will be drawn another time ^^

Bottom middle: NatureClan is known to tend to nature very often as part of their duties. Here, after showing him how to graft, Vineblossom supervises Darkpaw as he secures the new branch to the tree.

Vineblossom then starts thinking about how the tree was damaged and is bitter towards the rogues that invaded her clan and ended up trampling her plants and stealing prey. She is not fond of rogues at all. 

Darkpaw sees her staring into space, full of ire, and takes his turn now to be confused lol

Bottom right: Darkpaw goes on patrol with Lightningflash (Phosphora).

She often calls him a Fluffball of Darkness, so he shuts this conversation down immediately

Here is the rest of this mini comic for my AU~

Pitpaw and Darkpaw are apprentices! (And 8 moons old, so somewhat close to the size of full grown cats, but still slightly smol. I will probably make full color references that better show their designs sometime :)

Now that Pitpaw is older and has shown to be a very promising and strong apprentice, he goes on a mission to finally confront Star Pantherblaze about kitnapping Darkkit. Palelight can also guide him telepathically when he needs the help, as they share a powerful connection that allows Palelight to see his path through his eyes.

He is very worried for Darkkit, as he stopped talking telepathically after month of being in CalamityClan. Pitpaw and Star Palelight talk about what may have happened to him, fearing the worst and hoping for the best.

He unexpectedly finds both Pantherblaze AND Darkpaw, and is shocked to see that he's allegedly chosen to serve CalamityClan / the Darkworld clans (this is a Dark Forest / Underworld word mix here). Palelight tells Pitpaw to be prepared to fight him.

Seeing that he has to fight his brother and tired of Star Pantherblaze's constant bossing him around, Darkpaw snaps and attacks her, knocking her off the tree and shoving her into the tall rock Pitpaw is standing on, which takes one of her lives (and possibly all of them.)

I did not want to draw a fight scene lol

Also Darkpaw sees what looks like a collar and immediately dubs his brother "Kittypit" lol. There are no kittypets on their island, but they know what they are :P (Darkpaw also doesn't have anything against them, but just really hates the idea of a collar.)

The twins run as fast they can out of CalamityClan and Pitpaw asks if Darkpaw will come back to LightClan with him, still hoping that he might, but also knowing that Darkpaw has probably made up his mind. And he has, no convincing can be done.

I like to imagine him saying he's "no clan's warrior" is this version of "servant to no other than himself". He's still a warrior that will live in a clan, but also not sworn to one in particular.

Which means that even though he's going to live in NatureClan, he's gonna be a future "Warrior of Nature", not a "NatureClan warrior". Star Vineblossom (Viridi) will just have to put up with this now xD

Extra facts:

-Due to the stress of having to put on a reluctant facade for his survival, Darkpaw's fur is not in the best condition. This is why his tail isn't very fluffy anymore :( (It will be better once he moves into NatureClan. It won't be as fluffy as Pitpaw's tail, but it'll be healthier ^^)

-Star Vineblossom will be Darkpaw's new mentor! Always take in the sassy lost child lol

Dark Pit's wing is injured from a fight, and he keeps to himself because of how badly it stings. Arlon sees how serious that wound is however and makes sure the young angel understands that he can't leave injuries untreated. Then Dark Pit lets him treat it, putting aside his pride ^^

I just want more Arlon & Dark Pit interactions lol :)

I played Super Smash Bros with my younger brother today so I shared this interaction that I think would definitely be something that happened at some point with these two~

Dark Pit: *electroshocks Pit*

Pit: *Upperdash Arms him back* You have Electro'd your last shock!

Dark Pit: *punches him irl*

Pit: Oww, sore loser much? >:(

Part 2 & 3 of my Kid Icarus Warrior Cats AU~

Darkkit decides that he is own apprentice and goes to learn things on his own outside of LightClan territory. His venture is stopped suddenly by Star Pantherblaze (Pandora), who sees him as an opportunity to get rid of LightClan. She kitnaps him and takes him to her camp.

Darkkit tells Pitkit to go get help, but Palelight is very reluctant to leave her clan vulnerable or bring everyone to fight. She makes a difficult decision and let's CalamityClan keep Darkkit hostage.

[[ Darkkit will remember that. ]]

Darkkit is angry (and afraid), and Pitkit is sad :(

This was originally gonna go a different direction, where Pitkit sneaks out of camp too and rescues Darkkit. Palelight realizes he snuck out but can't go after him, so she guides Pitkit. Pitkit climbs a tall rock, hides in the bushes, then jumps out at Pantherblaze, causing her to drop Darkkit (who clings to the branches). 

Pitkit bites her neck and Darkkit jumps down and shoves Pantherblaze into sharp rocks, which takes one of her lives. The kits run off, and Darkkit proclaims that they defeated Star Pantherblaze. 

They are actually two moons old here, so this draft was stretching it a bit lol. Even if in KI cannon they could definitely throw hands with a god despite being the size of a small child, they are tiny kits here so that unfortunately doesn't apply xD

They do have slightly unnatural strength as they grow older though. Strong bois :)

Thinking 'bout making a 3 min + Kid Icarus Uprising animatic sometime. Maybe after I start learning how to storyboard this semester or during. I like to imagine as Pit gets older he's more stressed and has an "Under the Surface" breakdown to Dark Pit

I'm mentally working on the composition of how it would turn out lol. Under the Surface/Surface Pressure from Encanto is such a bop

Let the fun begin with a silly combination of my current interests: Kid Icarus Uprising & Warrior Cats! ^^

Important info about this AU world:

-"Star" is a title for leaders instead of a suffix, like how "Lady" and is used for goddesses in Kid Icarus. (It also allows for me to be more creative with naming characters :)

-Leaders and Pitpaw & Darkpaw can communicate telepathically

-The characters live on an island of cats, where there are no humans (Viridi's happy! ...right..?)

-Clans are named after what the leaders are the god/goddess of in KI. Ex: LightClan & NatureClan (which are in an alliance against most of the clans that are generally causing chaos)

With that out of the way, above is a sequence of drawings of Pitkit & Darkkit! 

-In the top left corner is Star Palelight (Palutena). Post the war against Star Serpentstone (Medusa), many of LightClan's warriors were killed, leaving two kits behind. She takes care of them now, thankfully finding a queen (who unfortunately lost her kits) that was willing to feed the two since they were still so very young.

They hadn't been named yet for fear they may die in such harsh times, so Palelight names them Darkkit and Pitkit. Darkkit for his dark pelt, and Pitkit, because his little stomach seemed to be a bottomless pit.

He squeaks a lot if he has to take a break, but has to because prey is scarce during this time, so less milk. Pit being really hungry all the time isn't the best for his littermate, so Darkkit is a bit smaller and less fluffy. He starts getting bigger as prey returns to the forest though 

Dark later uses this fact as blackmail against Pit to get him to give him more food. oof

-Center drawing is Darkkit as a spiky catloaf. He just opened his eyes and is repulsed by the state of the world already. Pitkit is just vibing

-Bottom right: Pitkit wants to talk with Star Palelight about possibly training both him and Darkkit. Darkkit isn't thrilled by this idea, and gets distracted by a feather.

Hmm. It seems to be heading that way. That's where he wants to go right now- away, on his own. hmm.

He is small, mean, and ready to kick someone in the spleen xD

Also, oops, it's supposed to say "Probably bit Palutena" / "bit or smacked" where there's a typo lol. Oh well :P

Very true, sometimes enough is enough when it comes to designing! Especially if the design is supposed to be utilized more than once for something.

Definitely keeping this in mind for my AU, because my motivation WILL die if I'm not careful x)

I wish you luck in redesigning Hades if you do get the motivation to sometime :)

I am glad you like it!! The feathers at the end were definitely something I was pretty proud of when brainstorming how to end the video, happy you think it's really neat! Your response was a great thing to wake up to! ^^

I experimented a lot and it turned out very close to how I envisioned it. Still some flaws here and there, but I really like how it turned out ^^
