I've been writing for years and I still struggle with this, especially since posting publicly. So to any writers out there who think their work isn't good enough, I've discovered your own perception on what you write is a lot harsher than how people will actually view it. You're doing fine. It's alright. :) Perfection is unobtainable so let's accept what we have!

How to Stop Hating Everything You Write
1. Don't be afraid of making mistakes.
Quit judging yourself for every mistake you make along the way. Whether you're writing fiction, fanfiction, or nonfiction, just write. If you can't correct your errors as you go, that's okay. When I don't have the brainpower to multitask, I focus on the writing stage one step at a time. Just write!
2. Don't aim for perfection.
"It's not ready if it's not perfect." That's a lie. When you're in the process of writing, it's best to concentrate on getting your thoughts on paper.
3. Seek feedback and learn to receive it.
Join lively communities with active writers or forums that host events inviting writers to share their work for critique. Not every critique is constructive; learn to discern which feedback to take on board and which to ignore.
4. Read, read, read.
You can't give what you don't have. You learn a lot from reading similar pieces in your chosen genre. Reading is also a source of inspiration that fuels your writing process.
5. Cut yourself some slack.
Writing is no small feat. It takes talent to formulate a story with your mind and skill to visualize it for others to see. Do you love writing? Then keep doing it because it takes practice.

One eye and ear is fine. The other… might be recording what you say. That eye and ear intrudes on 13’s own privacy though, so the starfish can be used as an eyepatch if attached to straps :)
Those who know this character will know who this REALLY is. But how they got here and why they look like this is a mystery…

And yes, they have legs. They’re Lagoona inspired. Kind of a mix of Lagoona Blue, Elle Eedee, and Honey Swamp, all of whom I have dolls which was awesome because 13’s a doll too! :) They’re not a Monster High doll though, they’re actually part of Destroy-A-Toy. After a gunshot goes off. But it’s fine because floridaaaaaaa

(DAT means Destroy-A-Toy. It’s literally the Smaller Bodies Initiative AU but four years into the future and on a stage)
Aight so my little bugger looks like this
I have their full body too but the phone child is currently being beastly and is making my art style do the conga
Anyhoos!! Here are some things about this particular phone child
Their name is Ollie Playtime and they’re Poppy’s (adopted?) sibling
The phone child actually isn’t a child! That’s an experiment who got transformed AS a child and is now stuck looking like that 😭 they’re actually 18 in the time of the AU and 28 in the time of canonical gameplay
This foul foul beast was a precursor to Poppy - a test subject to see how it would go creating a female doll body. Problem is they used a male test subject. Thanks for giving my little baby gender dysphoria
Despite saying everything with a cutesy wootsy voice, Ollie is pretty angry and volatile due to their treatment/situation
Little stinker was meant to run the phone lines (as a CHILD mind you) just to answer help calls, but that turned awry when Ollie got so mad at Playtime Co. they got on the phone and threatened to leak their experiments to the nearest news hotline
Long story short they’re now a staff member! Security and Communications Head!

Anyhoossss!! So the funny playtime monster creechur is a main character in a thing I’m writing. DAT’s plot is Playtime Co. decided “oh yeah looks like our toys are finally well made enough to be shown publicly” and they’re carted off to the Theatre to cause an incident. Ollie, being on the staff, went “oh hell no” and forcibly parked their botty boo as the tour guide so they can control how the toys are treated. Cause they do NOT want all these gorgeous little beans to become angry like them.
It’d be more noble if they didn’t give Elliot Ludwig alcohol poisoning on purpose

I just explained the entire Poppy Playtime lore to my dad.
It was crazy because I’m so used to thinking in fanfiction I forgot what the actual lore was like
I’ve drifted off a lot into Smaller Bodies land (writing is my special interest) and I felt a little lost a few times, and now it’s like I’ve been struck with a brick like… OHHH SO THIS IS WHAT IM WRITING
Hehe I like Harley Sawyer he’s cool :3 we call him Harley Soysauce in this house
I’ve been trying to write more about him for DAT, so I’ve actually fully renamed/reworked what I’m doing to give more to his character. This isn’t a problem either because I’m writing about him as a human, not a sketchy computer guy
Also. I have stages where I get really bad anxiety about my own writing and start feeling like everyone hates me/is disappointed in me, and because of it I’m completely ignoring my AO3 notifications. If anyone’s left a comment, I haven’t checked because I’m too nervous. I used to check them constantly but now have 32 (?) unreads. Lol
I recently read over my own stuff and went “oh wait this isn’t as bad as I thought” and am writing that funky DAT Harley Sawyer thing. I think it’d be cool to release on Jan 30th since that’s when Chapter 4 comes out.
I’ve also somewhat neglected tumblr in favour of my Instagram (@qibsichan). Tumblr is scary

I also want to say I think Harley’s cameras are blue while Ollie’s cameras are green. Which is awesome because in the trailer, the eye is mottled between both!

IM MAKING A DANDY’S WORLD AU
Hello for those who don’t know me I’m Caleb I like to write and draw and I decided to make a Dandy’s world AU that I told my friend @qibsichan about
The AU is gonna be called “The Twisted Verse” and insted of the charaters becoming twisted they will have diffrent resistance and diffent effects form the Iqore.
Shelly for example will be more like her old self around Vee is she is a twisted because Shelly X Vee is peak .
Yes that means they can be like there old self under diffrent conditions.
I’m not gonna revile everything I have planned but I will say the world itself will become more and more twisted and corrupted as the stroy gose on and the deeper the story gets.
I will be posting this to AO3 when I write is it’s gonna take a bit as I have work pushing me to my limits because of Christmas rush m

She’s part of what I’m going to fittingly call my Dino Shelly AU, in which Shelly is half-transformed and constantly in danger of slipping into the mindset of a Twisted. Her mutation has already broken her body and her mind may follow close behind.

Now, in case you’re wondering why her bottom half is hidden, that’s because it looks like this:
(This is a slightly earlier design for her so some details are a lil different hehe)
So what happened to her?
(Warning: mentions of paralysis, mental illness and addiction)
No one remembered her during the panic timer and the doors banged shut without her
She was left to rot in the factory floor and was attacked by the roaming twisteds
Her spine was snapped and she became paralysed from the waist down
Unable to move and desperate to alleviate her pain somehow, she drank from the ichor machine she’d been backed up against
Ichor sated her hunger but also caused a serious addiction to the substance
Constant exposure to ichor caused her lower body to try and heal itself, but her mitosis was so confused it picked the wrong DNA

Shelly’s personality is still relatively the same, but thanks to her mutation, she has become much more primal and survival-minded, with her survival typically involving either ichor or Vee, who was the one to eventually rescue her. Shelly’s memory is also extremely poor and she is easily triggered by the sound of cracks or splinters.

In this AU I think that the toons all get their life force from their trinket, which now multipurposes as the object the toons are based as :) eg. Glisten isn’t an actual mirror anymore but he’s decorated with glass
I don’t know if I’ll design any of the other toons with the same human style but I’m good with the cartoon aesthetic so, here’s half-toon Shelly :)
Regarding Vee’s Involvement 📺🎤

Still working this out but I think Vee is both the reason Shelly was left behind and the reason she was recovered at all. At the time, Vee was sort of dealing with a petty frustration over Shelly’s crush on her, and out of spite argued that no one should go back to check after the panic timer. And it took a lot of overnight existentialising and self-hate to change her mind.
“If you hadn’t been so stupid and bitter in the moment, her spine wouldn’t have broken.”
I think she would’ve either found Shelly or sought her out during a solo run, been crippled with guilt, and brought her back to mixed reactions.
Shelly doesn’t acknowledge Vee’s past dislike for her. She’s buried the memory.
Cause Vee came back for her, right?
So surely she loves her this time?
spoilers she changed her mind and now has to live with the guilt for the rest of her life
