Hey bestie, the ship is cute, but maybe it's time to give our eyes a rest and close ao3, okay? Your friends are starting to worry.
No wonder bkg can't stand his ass
Oh. This is it?
I don’t want to be left behind. Please.
please don’t leave me too.
i dont want to be alone.
After being a superhero for decades and experiencing many awful events, you make a horrifying discovery: you don’t age and will never be able to retire
You’re half convinced it’s a hallucination, the monster with too many eyes and blue fur standing over you. It doesn’t stop shaking your arm though, insisting you run, telling you to get up and get out. Warning you of danger.
You stumble out of bed, pyjamas crumpled and eyes still heavy with sleep before hacking coughs bring you to the ground. Your lungs burn as you try to gasp in air on your hands and knees, one hand tangling in the nearest thing keeping you stable. When your eyes fill with water and the coughing subsided, the monster is staring at you. Its claws are extended but at a distance, close enough to hold onto, far enough away to not frighten you. It’s scared.
The hand curled in its soft fur is dark with ash. The weight in your throat is smoke. Your nose tingles. Light flickers from behind the entrance of your bedroom door. Monster has noticed it too.
You get out safely that night. Your parents too, and your siblings. The firefighters told you how lucky you were, waking up in time to get everyone to safety. They said other things too, but you weren’t paying attention. You watched the house go up in flames, and a monster that can’t leave its home under the bed wave from what used to be your bedroom window.
Now in your mid teens, you forgot all about the monster under your bed. One night though, it wakes you up saying “You’re not safe. You need to get out of here”
I've always loved the idea that the Bats are feared in Gotham for the exact same reasons that the Justice League and the rest of the world deems them to be trustworthy and safe
Batman is respected outside of Gotham because of his staunch refusal to kill even when it would be easier. Gotham criminals are terrified because it's well known that his no-kill rule is his biggest hard limit on what he's willing to do. Pretty much everything else goes and they know it
Nightwing is widely beloved for being the nicest and happiest member of the Bats. His smile and constant playful banter are contagious and always make a situation seem better. In Gotham, the only other people who smile and laugh and have that much fun in combat are Harley Quinn and the Joker
Red Hood is a well-known murderous crime lord, but the League is able to trust him because he's one of the Bats. Gotham loves Red Hood the crime lord because his regulation of drug dealers and constant protection of the weak has done wonders for the lower class of the city. He's terrifying because of his open affiliation with the Bats
Red Robin is well known to be a skilled detective who always has a plan to save the day. In Gotham his meticulous investigations and planning are scary because no one can beat them. It's nearly impossible to outsmart someone who is the smaller more calculatedly vicious version of the Batman himself
When Robin doesn't unsheath his sword or bring it with him to a fight, other heroes are glad to see him get used to less violent methods of combat. If someone from Gotham sees Robin enter a fight without a sword, they're terrified because everyone knows Robin deems his sword to be the most efficient weapon for fighting, and if he's not using it things are going to be far more brutal than normal.
Signal is the only Bat that goes out in the day, and is therefore considered less broody and scary to many non-gothamites. Gotham is scared because he's a Bat that shows up during the day.
Orphan/Black Bat is a very skilled hand to hand combatant that the League knows can handle herself. In Gotham, anyone her height that can still win against someone like Bane in a one on one fight is immediately on the 'do not anger' list.
Spoiler is friendly and gets along pretty well with everyone. She's easy to talk to and work with. In Gotham her friendliness has made more than a few give up important information by accident. They like talking to her despite knowing full well that its a terrible idea. She puts them at ease more than she possibly should because she sounds just like one of them
Gotham always flips everything on its head, and that applies to how and why the Bats are perceived the way they are too
Batman: Remember, we’re on Justice League business. Be on your best behavior
Robin!Dick: Watch yourselves, everyone! Batman: This applies mostly to you
Robin!Dick: Oh- You bite ONE guy and suddenly no one trusts you! Batman: You bit his finger off.
Robin!Dick: I SPIT IT BACK OUT-
Justice League: *stare in concerned silence*
Ducktales 2017 is such a good show, more people should watch it. Owl House people looking for more? Gravity Falls fans? Amphibia? Looking for more mystery, found family and fun?
This is a great show for you. Especially for arospec folk like myself, it’s such a relief to find a show with so little romantic plot lines but still lots of platonic and familial love. It also changed my perspective on shows like it forever. It’s my favourite show of all time.
It’s the most realistic depiction of siblings I have ever laid my eyes on. It’s funny for all ages without defaulting to gross humour people think kids find funny. It’s so damn family driven. It has plenty of successful adult role models with no kids and/or no partners. My favourite character is only good as a coincidence. It is the only show ever where I have enjoyed the filler. It de-fridges the mum. The ‘main’ romantic subplot appears about three times, is more of a con artist-roguish hero dynamic than anything else, never goes anywhere and doesn’t feel wasted for it. It’s got magic. It’s got a Batman parody. It’s got a stacked cast for no reason. It’s got autism and adhd coded characters that showcase the spectrum. It’s got a British housekeeper who is also a spy. And a ghost butler. They hate each other. Lin Manuel Miranda is in it. It’s got a three part mega finale because it got cancelled like my other treasure trove tv shows (TOH). Every single character in this extensive family is developed and focused on at some point. They function how the Batfamily is in fanon. They scare the hell out of the rest of the world. They’re family.
I watch the final episode anytime I need creative motivation. I love this show so much.
