My mom practices voodoo and my aunt is in surgery. She had up an alter to appease some death goddess so my aunt would live. Anya is forced into the position of a mother, both literally and metaphorically, by Jimmy. The words he likely said when he was told Anya was pregnant, "take care of it," ringing in her head.
