Friendly reminder to listen VERY VERY CRITICALLY if someone tries to convince you not to register for federal disaster assistance following a declared disaster. Helene is still moving north and I see the usual rants picking up steam already.

That person trying to win social commentary points online is not your friend. That person can’t give you funds for house repair or to restock on food and meds. And if they say they can - that is a scammer and not someone you can trust.

Scammers and developers trying to take advantage after a disaster intentionally spread rumors/misinformation to convince survivors not to apply for federal disaster assistance. Many well meaning people pick this misinformation up and spread it further without understanding how the assistance process works. It’s happened more and more over the years and it will happen with Helene.

If you do not apply for assistance, you lose the chance to receive federal funds. APPLY APPLY APPLY. This doesn’t guarantee you will meet eligibility requirements, but you definitely can’t meet them if you don’t apply. The application process isn’t perfect but it continues to be updated - and was updated in 2024!! - to try and make it easier for survivors. If you have damages or lost power for an extended time, APPLY.

You can check on FEMA.gov or with local news to see when disaster recovery centers will open, how long the application period will last, and what information you’ll need when applying.

The problem with Encanto headcanons

As a Colombian I LOVED Encanto, but I know people have headcannoned Isabela as lesbian and Mirabel as bisexual among other characters. The issue with that is..

There is no issue.

In 2020 this was such a prominent issue to people and even 4 years later I have no idea why so many people took issue with this. It was fine for people to headcanon Elsa as lesbian, it was fine for people to headcanon Merida as lesbian, but all of sudden it's "forcing representation" and "taking away from the main story" if Isabela gets headcannoned as lesbian?? NOBODY is saying this for Max Goof and Bradley Uppercrust III when the movie was trending. NOBODY was saying it was forced representation when people shipped Bill Cipher and Ford Pines (even though the fact its gay isn't the issue but the fact it was a very manipulative relationship was but many people ignored that). And it's not bad to headcanon any of these things for any of these characters. I just don't understand why it was such an issue when Isabela (who's whole arc is honestly very WLW coded) gets called a lesbian. And its the fact its coincidentally a Hispanic character (I'm not implying ANYTHING.)

Overall, as a Colombian while i dont speak for every Colombian it never was and still isn't offensive to headcanon any Encanto character as queer since many people figured it was. Both the story and the headcanon can coexist. Acting this way won't get you approval from homophobes and transphobes! They still hate us stinkabutt 🤞

TL;DR : there was nothing wrong with headcanoning an Encanto character as queer in 2020 and there still isn't anything wrong with it in 2024.

I personally think she is very fun to watch, and acts in a realistic way considering her situation.

I knew the movie was gonna be a flop when I saw who the cast were. Colleen should’ve got upcoming small cast to play the characters and do justice with it. Serena didn’t. She made it all about herself, me me meeee. The whole thing was a pr mess and I look at Blake very differently now.

Yes! The casting pissed me off but then I was starting to like Justin as Ryle but Blake as Lilly. NO WAY! She took the press tour as an opportunity to boast about her style, she saw how much love Margot got and wanted that. I don’t think she realised though that the entire cast of barbie had so much love and respect for each other and they LOVED their director and would sing her praises all the time. Blake took something that meant sooo much to Justin and made it all about her self. And the fashion choices of the film which she can’t seem to shut her trap about are the worst parts of the film. Lilly’s wardrobe is HIDEOUS.

Hirobel 90 Day Fiance Part 2

About an hour ago, I posted a short summary about how Mirabel and Hiro would make a perfect 90 Day Fiance couple. As such, I wrote a timeline for their time on TLC.

Here it is:

In December of 2016, Mirabel and Hiro, both 21 years old, meet in downtown San Francisco, while Mirabel is on a college field trip.

Mirabel and Hiro, 22 years old, star in season 2 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, filmed in 2017 and aired in 2018.

Mirabel and Hiro, 23 years old, star in season 1 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, filmed in 2018, and aired in 2019.

Mirabel and Hiro, both 23 going on 24 years old, marry on January 26, 2019.

Mirabel and Hiro, 24 years old, star in season 2 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, filmed in 2019 and aired in 2020.

Mirabel and Hiro, 25 years old, welcome their triplets on November 27, 2020.

Mirabel and Hiro, 25 years old, star in season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, filmed in 2020 and aired in 2021.

Mirabel and Hiro, 26 years old, star in season 3 of 90 Day Diaries, filmed in 2021 and aired in 2022.

Mirabel and Hiro, 27 years old, star on 90 Day Fiance: The Last Resort, filmed in January of 2023, aired from August to October of 2023.

Mirabel and Hiro, 28 years old, star on season 8 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?. The show was filmed in 2023 and aired in 2024.

Okay but like, can I just say: at least in Ever After High, the future heroes and future villains attending the same school made sense, because they were being prepared to follow their destinies, so everyone was aware they going to throw hands one day and once its done, move on.  But with the idea of ‘Merlin Academy’ in Descendants….its just fucking weird. It’s one thing if it was somehow the heroes school, but the fucking villains school too??? And they all the same age range somehow??? And somehow when they get older, shit in their stories is going to happen somehow???? Like, what??? That makes zero sense???  And also kinda the definition of ‘BITCH’ when that one classmate brings you all back from the dead and another just fucking banishes you to a prison island, but that just me.
