I've tried so hard working on a silly thing with my SO to make something unrecognizable to that silly, uninspired school. Houses? Yeah they have them because the idea is rooted in real practices but they're undermined almost immediately and became totally irrelevant to any story beats. Magic system? Explored by a protagonist who's actually curious about how it works. Why would you not also be teaching classes like math and literature just because magic is part of the curriculum? Why should you have death-traps and bury ancient valuables in a place of learning?
Also it allows trans students so, you know, incompatible with that work on principle
if you are a millennial in the medium of storytelling and you are making a magical school setting, there is going to be a little worm in your brain that is telling you take make harry potter references. what you need to do is gently coax that worm out with treats and then smash it to death with a hammer and do literally anything else.

Cackle Crane - Wild form.
Who's the bestest girl? Who's everypony's favorite demon pony?
It's her, and if you disagree she'll bite you.
My Mane 6 Redesigns all together! I was going to post them separately but ended up finishing them all before I got around to it lol
Sorry I've been gone for a week! I've been dissociating from reality. The whole time yes.
Part one of four (in theory) of a thing inspired by @zoeyhorse 's big eyed style and silly humor. Honestly not 100% confident of how things came out so apologies if it's a poor showing of the style.
Manually drawing text on a touchpad is awful, honestly I know I should make proper fancy reference sheets for all the students, funfacts and all, but these will at least get them all out there in some capacity. At least enough to maybe inspire an ask or two!
Was honestly thinking of playing with this in my dumb little AU thing, looking into the specific wording of the spell, with a very different Unicorn messing with the very same spell to try to finish their own ascension.
I thought it would be cute if that exact wording was turned around, and since they stubbornly hoard the elements trying to master them alone instead of sharing them, the spell would instead of swapping marks of their friends turns them into a Mark black-hole. In their quest to find fulfillment alone they'd turn themselves into a problem that keep accidentally "stealing" the destinies and Marks of those they get close too, until they're truly "singled out alone".
Undoing that and learning to actually share responsibility and power with others is the actual test of course, but its a different lesson for a different pony interpreted from the same spell.
Omfg I'm watching MLP "Magical Mystery Cure" and I had a thought
The spell twilight proforms, the one Starswirl The Bearded wrote it was
"the mark of ones destiny singled out alone, fulfilled."
The spell isn't about the elements, it's about Twilight. Celestial magic isn't what turns her into an alicorn. It's the spell. It's Twilights magic. It's her Destiny.
Switching the elements and finding the counter spell is just a test.
I cannot even begin to contain the hours of rambles I could share of how complicated the Royal family has gotten in my writings in the span of a month. Sunset hasn't even been properly adopted (yet) and already Celestia's up 2.5 children, with an in-law situation that will only get more absurd as
time goes on. And yes the prep-goth balance is kept immaculately.
Ah the dichotomy of the Celestia family... The preps and the goths
Are you sure? She seems normal to me
