I Drew The Characters From The Lorax Movie In My Own Art Style Instead Of Illumination’s While Also

I wasn’t going to make an art summary for 2024 because for a good quarter of the year the only artworks I made were high school art assignments, but I decided it would still be fun to share those because I actually really like them and wanted to share art I’ve made that’s out of my norm. Like realism and clay. Honestly I didn’t draw an awful lot this year until September. I also thought I’d share some 2023 art to share my improvement in my art style, and more out-of-my-norm art….

My dear Once and Melvin ❤️. This was actually the first digital drawing I made using some new, more gentle brushes. I wanted my digital version of this piece to have the same softness as the sketch. My best friend (Monique who I keep mentioning) wanted me to give Ted Wiggins from the 2012 Lorax movie a "cooler" design. 1, because she thought he was so basis looking (for some reason? He's probably like? 13? 14? lol) and 2, because we're absoluetly huge dorks and we had just voiced over the ENTIRE Lorax movie together. Before we started we were practicing voices and casting ourselves and each other as characters and I made her be Ted even though she strongly disliked him for "being so basic and boring". As she was reading the script because watching the movie, she ended up making him sound so sassy and so zesty and as we were watching the movie she started doing his internal dialogue making him say "guys" a lot as if we was talking to an imaginary Youtube channel in his head. The voice she was doing was so funny and she gave him so much sass. We both love Ted now 😭. This Ted will probably end up being my Ted OC for "Once-ler pon A Time" story now (cus I needed one) but he still needs a unique name. I'm thinking maybe Ted Wigglesworth.

Here’s a couple of self insert characters of my best friend Monique and I! She’s an Easter Bunny and I’m a tooth fairy! I’ll put all the info about these characters in a “read more”…

Me and my dear friend Monique were having a goofy conversation about “why the Grinch and the Lorax would make a great couple”. I asked what their ship name would be and she said “Christmas Tree” because it’s “one furry man who learned to love Christmas and another furry man who loves trees” and so we started adding more and more fictional characters to this story, calling it “The Christmas Tree AU”. And then she said “what if we’re in this story too” and she told me she wanted to be the Easter Bunny in this AU so I decided I’d be the tooth fairy because I adore fairy and already wanted to make a fairy self insert! So that’s the story of how this came to be! I might make another self insert that’s more serious at some point but honestly I kinda love the tooth fairy concept soooo maybe not, lol!! I was introduced to Heartstopper by the Netflix series but after seeing season one a couple times I found the web comic and bought all the books. I adore both the comics and the show and Charlie is my favourite, I relate to him a little too much sometimes. I tried mixing my art style with Alice's for this drawing, don't know if I succeeded though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Cus mine’s the young Once-ler from the Lorax movie 💀💀💀 and I always thought I was just weird but then I found out HE HAD A FANDOM??? And there were more dorks like me?!? I was so happy 😅🫶🖤

I rewatched this movie again recently for the first time in probably like five years?? and I’ve been obsessed with it. It’s so cute and goofy and colorful. Soooo here is my Lorax/Once-ler art 🫶🧡🖤 I tried my best to copy the animation style of the movie instead of drawing them in my original art style, but I’ll probably draw him again in my own style cus I love this goofy bean and it appears the people of Tumblr do as well 🖤
