dandelion facts:
Stories about dandelions can be found in folklore almost worldwide!
Dandelions have a diuretic effect (they make you pee,) which is reflected in some of their common names (piss-a-bed)
most North American dandelions reproduce asexually by apomixis, creating loads of identical daughters!
Since they reproduce asexually, these dandelions don't need to be pollinated, even though they produce lots of pollen and nectar. The dandelions that pop up in a lawn feed pollinators without receiving any benefit for themselves.
Dandelion seeds can sprout at any temperature between 0 and 36 degrees Celsius!
Dandelions can regenerate themselves from just a piece of their taproot!
dandelions have a near worldwide distribution and were introduced to North America as a food crop!
Dandelions grow bigger and produce more viable seeds in conditions of higher carbon dioxide, suggesting that human-caused carbon emissions are good news for the dandelions!
Dandelions have been shown to pass epigenetic changes to their DNA caused by stress to their offspring.
Yeaah. If you’re new, please add something to your blog to make you look real. If you’re a woman, I’d advise against making your pfp a picture of you if you don’t have any posts… because that’s what the bots infesting this site tend to look like. Please make it clear you’re an actual person and not a spam bot, thanks :)
There's a new swarm of totally real ladies with empty blogs following me, and I'm blocking and reporting them left and right. If you are an actual human person with a brand new account trying to follow me, I urge you to please post *anything at all* on your blog so that when I go to check who the heck you are, I can tell you aren't just a bot-encrusted void. Just a simple "hello this is my lurker account I use to follow people" is enough.
These cool characters by @cozylittleartblog caught my eye lol. Check them out if you want :)
val is kind of a freak
The struggle, the unceasing torment of resisting the desire to rend my own flesh…..
-me when I’m trying not to pick my scabs
So these are the blorbos that got me excited about them being a System, and they are and no one treats them badly for it or is weird about it in the source media, this makes my heart happy
Master thief finds himself fooling a detective to get away with his treasure, falls in love. Detective doesn't know how to trust and is too depressed to get away on a whim. Somehow, they end up in a life-or-death situation, learn to trust each other, confess their love and... part ways in the middle of the night, one left alone behind by the other after a promise of a future together.
Two brothers; Marigold and Hydrangea.
They share a body. It is unclear when or how this happened; it just *is*. At first, they aren't even aware of each other's existence. Eventually, they start talking to each other by passing along messages through another character. Marigold expresses his distain for humans, and Hydrangea expresses his desire to trust and form bonds with them. Marigold claims that he wants to take their body for himself, and Hydrangea wants to be Marigold's friend and brother. Eventually, they do make amends and come to care for one another.
Second art post thanks to @nervoussaladbard ‘s Oakie appreciation!
I encourage you to vote for my little meow meow Henry :)
He’s crazy in such a fun way
Henry:
Osamu Dazai: He actively tries to kill himself multiple times throughout the series. Apparently also flirts with almost every guy who appears on screen with him. He acts silly, but is actually quite intelligent and planning. (He wasn't submitted with much detail)
I read this and couldn’t help but think of my mad scientist OC Dr. Kaye, who is very much a Type 1 (cold, calculating, emotionally detached) but has the recklessness of a Type 3 (rat bastard drenched in glowing mystery liquid with a shit eating grin). And she used to be anxious and paranoid… and still gets accused of being paranoid sometimes, because she has no friends and a lot of enemies and has decided it’s entirely rational to carry a gun and know how to use it. She’s a terrible person in general, but she gets a semi-redemption arc and she’s my little meow meow ❤️
I love mad scientists who have more academic knowledge than common sense (because I relate) (this is probably all mad scientists, kinda in the definition).
i love how many different mad scientist archetypes there are. we have like
- cold, calculating, really good at what they do, emotionally detached
- “dear GOD what did i just create”, paranoid, little meow meow
- bastard, rat, would find them drenched in glowing mystery liquid with a shit eating grin on their face, maniac cackling every time something is silly
and of course we have the mix why wouldnt we
Hi, we're the River System! Katlyn (she/they) and Jacob (he/him). Came for the fandoms, stayed for the off-the-wall and the cringe. 22, autistic (language abled and low support needs), Environmental Biology major. Actual Mad Scientists ;) [We do science and don't do sanity!] Mostly this is Katlyn obsessing over bugs and fandoms (Undertale, Hollow Knight, Little Nightmares, Fire Emblem: Awakening, RWBY, Arcane). Also may include photography, dark aesthetics, and general chaos from Jacob. (Cover photo by Sagar Patil on Unsplash)
