Raph

When you kiss the back of Raphs hand saying goodbye it first catches him off guard

He finds it endearingly silly how you take his large hand in yours to do so, the contrast adorable in his eyes

After the next few times it flusters him, feeling your soft skin on his rough hands from all his years of fighting. He starts looking away to try and hide his wobbly smile.

You get more courageous and start doing it for any little greeting, like seeing him just when entering a room, even if you already saw him when you first got to the lair.

He becomes rather forgetful, needing to refocus on what he had been doing.

He finds himself often looking at his hands where you most recently kissed him, swearing that he could feel the ghost of your lips on his skin and feeling giddy.

One night when leaving you kissed his hand as usual, but you lingered, purposely looking up at him. He glanced at you since you were taking longer and finally it clicked for him.

The next time you're over, before you could reach for his hand he's picked you up in one arm, still offering his free hand to you. You giggle and kiss the back of his hand, and afterwards he kisses your lips, his fingers lacing through your hair.

Leo

The first time you kiss him across the knuckles he freezes for a moment and then asks, "uh, why so formal?"

Your reply of 'just cause' has him over thinking it until the next time you come over, though it still doesn't click

The second time, he takes your hand and does it back, never one to be outdone on grandeur, and he always greets you the same since then

Each time he tries to come up with a different greeting to say. "Hola mi estrella," "ciao, bello/bella," "hi there, hot stuff!"

Even if your usual reaction is to just laugh at him, he still loves getting any reaction out of you.

All his attempts to fluster you seem like they never even phase you, while when you kiss his hand he's fighting off a wobbly smile.

With this dance going on for so long, finally you meet his greeting with, "surprised you haven't gotten the hint and just kissed me already."

He can't save himself this time and actually sputters, which has you laughing at him again. He huffs and pulls you into a dip, saying "you literally asked for it," before kissing you.

Donnie

The first time you kiss his hand he is flabbergasted. Jaw dropped, almost looking disgusted but really he's just confused. You go to apologize and he shakes his head, stuttering out, "ah, um, it's fine."

The second time you're slower with it so he can pull away if he wants, and he doesn't, so you go through with kissing his knuckles and are only a little surprised when he does the same.

Is he doing it as a part of masking? Is he doing it to hide his blushing face? Is he doing it in an attempt to return politeness? Perhaps an amalgamation of all this and more.

He is in his lab corkboard and red stringing about these incidents now every time after you kiss his hand, trying to math out every little detail and why the sudden change.

Both of you are pining oblivious shy idiots honestly- reading social cues is already hard enough but with the two of you fumbling no one is getting anywhere any time soon.

Thankfully, or maybe not so, Mikey and Leo make a plan and bring Donnies theory board out into the lair on a night you're visiting.

Donnie is plotting murder while you're stuck not knowing how to react because it's just so romantic that he was trying so hard to figure it out.

You grab his hand and kiss his knuckles again, only to reach out with your other palm and place it on his cheek as you kiss him. His murderous intentions get put on the back burner.

Mikey

He's curious first but uncharacteristically he freezes stock still when your lips meet his skin. After you wave goodbye he's melting, almost falling to the floor.

The second time you do it you're greeted with a large smile, and Mikey asks giddily, "are you gonna be doing that every time now?" You answer yes.

He's looking smug as he holds out his hand for you ahead of time now, which always makes you laugh, which always makes him smile wider.

He's dancing around the lair. His brothers are rolling their eyes. He's like a teen girl losing their mind over a boy band just from your goodbyes.

On day he asks if he can have another. "Hmm, I don't know 'angelo, what's in it for me?" He plays along and offers a kiss to your knuckles in return. You take this deal, and he knows he's won with how much you blush.

He does this a few more times, just to absolutely 100 percent make sure and totally not just because he likes seeing you blush. It's the same song and dance prior every time, too.

The next time he's smiling so wide you know he's planning something. When he asks for another, you open your mouth with a similar protest to before, and he cuts you off. "I know, I know, a kiss for a kiss. I want both of mine first, though."

You raise an eyebrow, but shrug, taking both his hands to kiss the tops of each. After this he takes one of your hands in his, but the other is under your chin, and he kisses your lips.

Asking the real questions oh my gosh- also my writing tends to lean gender neutral, with a heck ton of nicknames-

Ok so, for a base, you don’t live in any of the boy’s kingdom but in the boundaries or a neutral area.!

Number one: POLITICAL NIGHTMARE- OH THE POOR ADVISORS- SOMEONE GET THEM A DECADE OF PAID VACATION-

The near constant barrage of letters you receive from the advisors begging you to make a decision of either picking a king to marry, or simply declare your not getting married for their sanities and safety-

Number two: PETTY ASS BROTHERS- ALL THE SABOTAGE YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE- THINK MONOPOLY GAME NIGHT BUT WORSE-

There’s constant sabotage between the four, no honor among thieves or trust between the them.

Any of the subjects from the other’s kingdom is eyed with suspicion and for good reason-

Plans are often eavesdropped on before reporting them back to their king for ideas on how to sabotage-

Number three: You get so swarmed- be it the people of the kings trying to show how amazing their respective king is! The people of each kingdom have never been so united against the other kingdoms…..

Can’t even open up the curtain of your home or so much as gesture towards stepping out of the building, before the people of each respective king is chanting, swinging banners, yelling about their king’s great attributes for marriage-

You’d think that any of the kings have some kind of restraint or second thought about how all of this chaos would affect you-

Nope-

Constant invitations to dates, parties, one-on-one time to get to know you better-

If and when you leave your house, you find so many people talking about or showing banners of their kingdom and king-

Boos’ leaving books and research papers on all of the amazing technological advances King Don is making. Their king is eternal! And making so many advances for the betterment of the whole world!

Koopas’ showing you records of how strong and kind their King Raph is! He helps them train and grow stronger! Helps them build new buildings and homes, gives them a lot for their own betterment!

The bob-omb’s bringing pieces of King Mikey’s art and sculptures to you. Even decorating your home and its pathways. He’s so creative and freeing! Despite the fear of explosions-

The poor poor toads…..They don’t get paid enough to deal with their prince’s shenanigans…. They come to you whining about whatever important meeting Prince Leo skipped-

Confetti, stamped in colors, insignias, and crests of royal kingdoms greeted you at every twist and turn.

Your once peaceful little town, now overridden by mischievous, determined, and headstrong folk having migrated from the main kingdoms.

And for what wondrous and beautiful reason do you have, to thank those above as they breathe new life, joy, and competition into your little hometown? Well-

“My love look! My people are showering us in petals, which is simply a tiny fraction of what love I and my kingdom hold for you dear. Let’s go greet them with smiles, hm?”

“A display of this caliber is tacky, a waste of money, resources, even ultimately your limited time on this earth. My dear violet, follow me and I’ll regale you of the successes in any and every field imaginable!”

“I made a picnic for you my muse! I hade made the food, made from ingredients grown my kingdom and by my people! I even made the picnic basket, plates, and the blanket by hand! And that’s only a taste of my art!”

“There’s a new store selling paired plushies….ones that are customized, you can dress them to fit a loved one….I can carry you little one if you’d like to come with me?”

“Come on! Won’t you take my hand?”

You walked through the entrance with the two turtles, only for Leo to take your hand and pull you along. Apparently, you hadn't been walking fast enough for the slider. In turn you grabbed onto Donnie's arm, making him fumble his phone before holding it with just his free hand and giving you the other one to hold. When Leo slowed, he swung your hands back and forth, which you gladly attributed to. Donnie rubbed circles and lines onto the back of your hand as the two of you walked, but he didn't look up from his phone.

Every now and then Leo would break away and come back to show a silly trinket or make a pun on the swedish name for an item, which had you smiling and rolling your eyes. Donnie didn't gain any interest until the displays turned into example rooms, which is where he began to split off and mumble to himself about the decor. You'd follow, stand next to him and rock on your heels unless you felt like picking up a smaller thing to inspect in the fake bedrooms. Once you got to the display kitchens, Donnie got this strange look in his eye, and you couldn't decipher it until he spoke.

"Shelldon's been struggling processing things lately, though I'm sure you wouldn't know anything about that."

I had to try very hard to keep from smiling, before replying, "I'm not the one keeping him from recharging his energy at night, working on hundreds of unfinished projects."

He failed at hiding his smirk about the fact that you were in on the joke, but still continued, "oh, I'M the one keeping him from recharging? Maybe if you didn't get him sucked in to all those video games-"

"You're upset with me for rewarding good behavior? Don, when I'm not around he's miserable," the argument had been started, and the fake anger providing entertainment from passersby was rewarding.

It was especially fun for the two of you to walk the tightrope that the little drone could be an actual kid. Leonardo had come by with wooden birds on metal wire legs only to almost drop them at the shouting match the two of you had gotten into. Though, after his jaw un-dropped, he was losing his shit, trying not to laugh and fighting an uphill battle whenever someone passed by and made faces at the two of you arguing. He made damn sure to take pictures to laugh at later. The two of you came to the conclusion that Donnie would stop keeping Shelldon operating even if he was still working on something after twelve am. You would have to stop pampering him for every little thing, even if you were the only one who did so for the little drone.

You took both your turtles hands and led them to the cafeteria, where Donnie had just the meatballs, you had yours with gravy, and Leo had his with the lingonberry sauce. When Leo was done he kept stealing your mashed potatoes, so Donnie gave you his after you ran out. After lunch you all made for the exit, Leo still appearing with random items that caught his interest, though he stopped with the puns. You were easily distracted as Donnie went and paid for something.

Once out the door, the slider teleported all of you back to the layer, where you were scooped up by Raph for a movie night. Later that night you found a stuffed turtle on you bed that looked a little derpy, the tag labeled "BLÅVINGAD." How the twins had managed to sneak it past you was a mystery.

Raph

He knows he's big so he'd be perfectly fine with being the one to wrap his arms around you, but when you get ideas on how to comfort him/cuddle him, he'd absolutely melt.

One of these ideas is sitting crisscross for him to lay his head on your lap, or laying down while he lays his head and shoulders on you. After the first time you suggested it, when he's feeling small he'll approach and tug on your shirt as a signal that he needs this specific affection

During those times you pet down his head, shoulders, and upper shell, kissing him every now and then, and he soaks up all the love like a sponge.

On the other hand, when he scoops you up for cuddles it surprises you at first. He'd hold you close and rub his cheek against yours before saying hello or he missed you

Once in an attempt to get back at him for surprising you, you grabbed his cheeks and peppered him up and down in kisses, taking special care over his eye.

He almost dropped you, scrambling to right his hold on you again only for the two of you to laugh and the shower of affection to continue.

Raph rumbles when he's happy, like how a cat purrs. There's no exact reason? He just does.

Loves playing with your hair. Even if it's short, he's running his fingers through it constantly. Just so soft.

Leo

Leo, leo, leo, he'd absolutely adore picking you up and spinning you around like in the movies as a greeting, then just holding you to him while you talked.

After that he's actually less touchy than his brothers, surprisingly even Donnie. Leo just moves too much, and so while the others could enjoy cuddling on the couch, he likes to pace and talk to you instead, hands thrown in many different directions as he tells a particularly interesting story.

That being said, sometimes Leo falls apart after being so go-go-go all the time, and in those moments he will lay with you on the couch, arms around your back while he sniffles against your stomach. You hum and play with his mask tails, knowing not to urge him to talk, but being there for when he decides to share.

The other most often time is sleep. Oh, to hold you in his arms in his bed, he passes out in a minute tops. He's a comfortable pillow, so you don't mind.

One of these times you're laying with him in bed, he kisses your forehead, and so you do it back. He kisses you again. You kiss him twice more. He goes to continue this only for you to absolutely smother him in smooches, making him laugh and kick the blanket off the bed.

After that he gets more physically affectionate, if only for the game that's been made between the two of you. He'll sneak up and grab you around the waist, holding you kicking and screaming while he covers your cheek and neck in quick little kisses that have your laughter added to all the noise.

You'll follow up three days later and tackle him mid reading a comic, one hand on his cheek while you cover the other side of his face in lip marks. You put on lipstick just for this, the ultimate win.

Instead of getting embarrassed about it when he's eventually informed he is absolutely ecstactic. Running to the bathroom to look in the mirror, taking dozens of selfies to always have the evidence of your love even after he needs to clean it off. He's bouncing off the walls running from room to room and you're laughing your ass off watching him.

Donnie

Donnie holds onto you as though you are a full body stress ball. Of course he's careful and doesnt squeeze too much, but he will have his arms around your middle no matter where seated if you would let him.

Even when he's working on something, having you in his lap with your arms around him is heaven.

Not one for words when it comes to emotions, his physical affection actually takes precedence, especially since you feel like a comfort instead of the action feeling forced.

One moment when he's working on something small, you pull back to look at him. He does a small double take, then already feels somewhat flustered at your sudden obvious focus on him. You get a wicked grin, and before he could ask you're covering his face in kisses.

He's somewhat yelling (quietly) in a panic only because he doesn't know how to respond to all the affection, only for the chair both of you were on to topple. First he worries and asks if you're okay, then the both of you are laughing after you reassure him.

Even after the first time, every time you decide to peck at him he's internally panicking not because he dislikes it but because it's just so much and aaa he feels so loved

Because of this being a repeating behavior, though, eventually kisses become a stim of his, so the moments he is sitting with you in his lap are now filled with kisses to your forehead ears and cheeks when he particularly feels he needs to get excess energy out to focus on whatever project he's busy with.

Also thinks you are a godsend for his sleep, being able to hold you let's him actually rest. After the kisses became stims though, he's now kissing your forehead every 13 seconds and you giggle and remind him he's supposed to be sleeping.

Mikey

Mikey could spend hours either holding you or with you holding him and he'd never want it to end and never get bored.

Coming back from a mission he will tackle you to the ground, the two of you laughing as you now sit in a tangled mess of limbs that he is in no rush to leave.

In the kitchen you'll come up behind him and hug him around his stomach at which he'll start to sway, only for the both of you to laugh when he sways too hard and makes both of you stumble to catch your balance again.

One of these moments you start peppering kisses over his shoulder and cheek, only for him to turn around and return that energy tenfold, making you laugh and scream as it tickles.

After that, the kisses become a part of the greeting tackle, though it's hard for him to keep it up with how much he's laughing and smiling too.

Going to sleep, he actually stays awake. He loves witnessing just how comfortable you are with him, being able to sleep in his arms or with him in yours. He wants to remember every moment with you, how could he possibly sleep through this?

Speaking of him in yours, you're able to comfort him and allow him to feel small without that need to prove himself to arise, you are such a safe space for him to lose his need for independence built into his person by his somewhat overprotective brothers.

He's so physically affectionate that even if he can't be holding you because he's working on art, he'll search you out to sit with his side against you or in your lap before he gets to drawing. You're usually happy to watch over his shoulder.

Mostly what I see is people who were past fans kind of avoiding watching the show because it's so different, but for me it's the opposite

I vaguely remembered 12, and just how boyish it really was atleast in memory and I avoided it, until the fan content began to show it really was more about the connections than just, looking cool and kicking butt. I finally gave it a chance this summer and it is easily one of my top 3 favorites of anything of all time, specifically because it was so different. Rise, while others seemed uninterested because of the past iterations, made me give the other versions a chance, and now I'm watching 12 with a love to hate it attitude.

If I were to get one wish to have granted without a doubt, it'd probably be riches let's be real, but I'd use that money to bring us all of the seasons of rise we were supposed to have.

Meltdown

A short one shot I wrote about Donnie helping reader with a melt down. It's in the first person. Could be read as platonic or romantic!

Donatello had just put the tank into park, Mikey having told him he'd seen me on the verge of tears. I had tried to say I was fine, that we shouldn't stop, but Donnie just shook his head. Raph and Leo looked at me with confusion, and, of course concern, but that wasn't what my brain chose to focus on. Not at this moment. I didn't even know what was wrong, one moment having enjoyed the atmosphere, the next feeling as though the lights were too bright and the road too bumpy and the conversation too loud.

Now I was pulled to a somewhat separate space inside the tank, Donnie's grasp on my upper arms soft. "Do you know what's wrong?" His eyes were searching mine.

"No," I hissed. I didn't mean for it to sound so aggressive. I looked at one of his hands on my arms, feeling tears build in my eyes as I fucked up again. Like how I ruined this trip. Like how I ruin everything. I-

His hands moved to my cheeks, more force than his hold on my arms but still gentle. My eyes closed. The pressure was a welcome feeling. It grounded me. I only noticed he was plugging my ears when he lifted his fingers to ask if I wanted his headphones. I nodded, so he lifted his hands away, quickly putting his head gear on me before returning his hands to my cheeks. I didn't ask, didn't want to talk, but he still answered in a soft voice through the speakers on my ears, "I've noticed this is one of your regulating behaviors, I can stop if-"

I grabbed his wrists so fast I actually felt him flinch. Before I could start feeling bad about that, I heard him chuckle, "that's an answer." I realized about halfway through all of this that I had been close to a meltdown, though of course couldn't focus on it with all the other thoughts racing. I finally opened my eyes, taking note that the lights were somehow dimmed. Donatello was smiling softly at me, his thumb swiping back and forth on my cheek bone once.

"Thank you."

"No probbles."

"Guys, I found tomato!!"

Mickey specifically was the one who found her first, in the rubble of what once was draxums first lab. He figured it'd be useful to have something or someone that could get into small spaces. When he got home with her, the reception was not too positive.

Despite their original reservations, they held on to her incase there were any missing child posters with a reward. The posters never came. They'd never admit it, but of course they grew attached to the little turtle as they raised her. Danny came up with the name Belatova, though Mickey called her tomato once and the nickname stuck.

Just because they had a younger member of the team, that never stopped their criminal behavior. She really *was* useful when she was small, whether it be getting into tight spaces or tricking the people of the mystic city, Tova excelled. Snake oil salesmen quickly became another one of their schemes.

The last time belatova saw them was before they were thrown in jail as seen in 'tales from the mystic city.' They had been gone so long she worried something might have happened and went looking for them, and when the mud dogs were finally freed, they came back to an empty hideout. They aren't so obvious about it, but they haven't stopped looking for her.

During this time, belatova met the Mad Dogs, and though there was initial surprise at there having been a missing turtle, they made quick friends. Of course, belatova loved her time with her lost family, but she still misses the mud dogs, and hasn't given up her search for them.

"oh but your favorite shows are going to be delayed by the strikes" my favorite shows consistently get cancelled after 2 excellent seasons bc of the exploitive corporate greed that these strikes are fighting against

It's sloppy dynamic pose turtle tutorial time

Im Sorry @vanillatheartist, tumblr destroyed your question while I was working on it, but I went on a whole rant on this!

So the way I draw is not how I would ever ever NEVER recommend, it's all fundamentals put into just doodling from one point to finish before even doing the gestures so I made a time-lapse solely do demonstrate that

My very annoy first tip is knowing the fundamentals of draftsmanship, learning from studying figures, that is not just draw from photos but see how artists draw figures also by seeing how the gestures are done. Don't know how to draw a pose? Use a reference, don't know how to approach a pose? Create an inspiration folder of photos and artworks. What is also very important to know when drawing dynamically is knowing perspective and how to foreshorten, figure out the tricks and keep pushing the forms further and further..

There is so much from fundamentals that go into this and I have studied anatomy so much to be able to draw like how I did in the video without having to look at anything because I have collected a memory bank from studying and perhaps I just watch way too much fighting movies and I like to at times just watch boxing so I know a thing or two that you need to know theoretically (Lets be real I have never got into serious fights before, how would I know if I can do these moves) how fighting styles are.

Now perhaps I could give you few tips that aren't annoying LOL

First tip is knowing how to let all forms flow, let it curve depending of the frame you are going for, let the flow lead the eye, knowing flow can help you push then even further, don't just stick to the first try, see if you can take it even further, push and toss the form even more, SHAPES SHAPES Even muscles will create the flow, don't stick too much to accuracy of muscles, let it also lead the flow and create shapes that neatily stack together, knowing the anatomy allows you to also break it

Once you realize how to use the flow to manipulate the forms you need to consider the planes, the planes go with the flow, don't let the planes work against the flow of your poses! Using Flow versus straight lines create an effective dynamic shapes so being able to push those against each other makes the shapes way more interesting.

The simpliest tip I give is this... don't make a symmetrical blob.... thats where you manipulate muscles *wink*

Now... the biggest tip to make the pose pop out is knowing how to foreshorten the limbs, the biggest mistake is trying to accurately have the muscle somehow overlap the front muscle, this is why I do it like this drawing, cut into with the straight line and into the muscle, then let the forms of the muscles keep overlapping the next, this is why I do a lot of circles, they help me decide all the overlapping and poses!

Now... I didn't show any gestures, because I think we all hear it too much either way, its one of the biggest fundamentals so do check tutorials for it if you are unsure how to do gesture lines for poses !

I hope this helps somehow, Its been forever I have made a tutorial and I think this has become way more precise as I continue trying to show what Im thinking!

Pro Tip: The Way You End a Sentence Matters

Here is a quick and dirty writing tip that will strengthen your writing.

In English, the word at the end of a sentence carries more weight or emphasis than the rest of the sentence. You can use that to your advantage in modifying tone.

Consider:

In the end, what you said didn't matter.

It didn't matter what you said in the end.

In the end, it didn't matter what you said.

Do you pick up the subtle differences in meaning between these three sentences?

The first one feels a little angry, doesn't it? And the third one feels a little softer? There's a gulf of meaning between "what you said didn't matter" (it's not important!) and "it didn't matter what you said" (the end result would've never changed).

Let's try it again:

When her mother died, she couldn't even cry.

She couldn't even cry when her mother died.

That first example seems to kind of side with her, right? Whereas the second example seems to hold a little bit of judgment or accusation? The first phrase kind of seems to suggest that she was so sad she couldn't cry, whereas the second kind of seems to suggest that she's not sad and that's the problem.

The effect is super subtle and very hard to put into words, but you'll feel it when you're reading something. Changing up the order of your sentences to shift the focus can have a huge effect on tone even when the exact same words are used.

In linguistics, this is referred to as "end focus," and it's a nightmare for ESL students because it's so subtle and hard to explain. But a lot goes into it, and it's a tool worth keeping in your pocket if you're a creative writer or someone otherwise trying to create a specific effect with your words :)

Also… I did this little silly thing… because I often see black being used for shading. It's not bad, but sometimes it looks dirty and boring… so… main idea: try different colors… maybe it will be useful for someone… I don't know…
