Really, JKRoach Used Werewolves To Represent AIDS, Which Comes Off As Homophobic Because We’re Talking

Really, JKRoach used werewolves to represent AIDS, which comes off as homophobic because we’re talking about people who mostly target children to infect them. And since AIDS has been thought of as an illness transmitted through sex, and a lot of people didn’t do anything about it for a long time because it was killing off the gays, well. They only moved to find a cure when they realized that straight people were also getting sick from AIDS, too.

But mostly, I was referring to how she said werewolves aren’t affected by silver and such, but she can’t tell me what to do so my werewolves are affected to silver lol

Am I throwing whatever JKRoach wrote about werewolves out the window for the sake of my fic? Yes, yes I am.

What you said about Percy following the rules is exactly what I had in mind.

Also, yes! Percy’s own father works at the Ministry, and I’m sure he must’ve been in awed every time Arthur returned home exhausted after a day of dealing with post-war problems.

I think Percy was a quite child - I love the older two, but I don't connect with their stories as much - because of the war. And nobody minded. Being quiet meant he could hide, being quiet meant he wasn't a liability. But then the war ended, and people saw him as weird.

Honestly, I agree. Being quiet isn’t a flaw or a liability. However, from what I understand, Percy was already thought of as weird since way before the war. There’s a lot of moments in the books where people mock him (mostly the twins). I think it wasn’t until after the war that people started trying to understand him.

I used to ship Drarry too, but as you said, after rereading the books and analyzing it now that I’m older, I believe there’s too much toxicity for them to be romantically involved. It’s why I prefer shipping Albus and Scorpius better.

As for Jeverus, I really don’t think they’d work at all. Snape isn’t a forgiving man at all, and James is too against Snape’s beliefs to move past it. Not to mention all the toxicity they both have when it comes to each other. But, again, if you think they work then fine.

Also…Sirius and Snape…really? Merlin help us all.

Jeverus/Snames is a thing?

I just found out that there are people who ship James Potter with Snape and I don’t know how to deal with it. I’m not trying to shame anyone, but you’ve got Marauder stans and Snape stans and then you’ve got people who think they belong together? How? Where’s the logic behind that? I’m genuinely curious.

arguing with terfs sucks so much cause it just feels like youre making litterally the same exact points as them but somehow they still refuse to accept the truth

they take what you say and twist it, strawmanning your words into something you never said. because at the end of the day, they refuse to accept that they are in any capacity incorrect. you can't even argue on the note of compassion, because they fundamentally do not fucking care.

Why do people use ‘the anon switch’TM as an excuse to be assholes? Its intended purpose is obviously so you can fangirl over your fav writers’ updates at a level that would be embarrassing if they actually knew who you were

“Knew! Of course we knew! How could you not be, my dratted sister being what she was? Oh, she got a letter just like that and disappeared off to that — that school — and came home every vacation with her pockets full of frog spawn, turning teacups into rats. I was the only one who saw her for what she was — a freak! But for my mother and father, oh no, it was Lily this and Lily that, they were proud of having a witch in the family!” (HP&PS, Chapter Four)

I don’t know how Lily’s pocket would be full of frog spawn, so I’m gonna take this as Lily used to have a pet frog/toad. No more Lily Evans with pretty and majestic pets like cats and owls, enter Lily Evans with a pet frog she named Tulip (after her favorite flower, of course). She loved that slimy animal with her whole soul.

No, you can’t change my mind about it.

sometimes I try to have nuance and consume media critically like “oh even though I personally don’t like snape because he was a cruel and abusive man that doesn’t mean he’s a bad character because he did ultimately give his life for the cause 😊” or “yes I think dumbledore was a manipulative puppet master who treated people as pawns but he did have good intent and I think he truly loved harry” but then I randomly remember some of the fucked up shit they did and the rage comes back in full force

like snape picking ruthlessly on poor orphaned harry who literally was traumatized his whole life and bullying neville and exposing remus as a werewolf and telling voldemort the prophecy and being willing to let james and harry die just to save lily for his twisted obsession. or dumbledore raising harry to be slaughtered and testing him at every opportunity but telling him nothing and leaving the fate of the world in his young hands. or you know abandoning an innocent sirius to rot in prison without a trial even when he pulled strings for snape, or manipulating persecuted and marginalized people like hagrid and remus to worship the ground he walked on so he could use their loyalty when the time came

I’m going to make it into a College AU type of thing, hope you don’t mind.

SIRIUS BLACK would most likely be some kind of History major, but focused on Queer History that past historians had tried to play off as them being “best friends”, “brothers”, and such. Sirius would also perhaps have a minor in English/Creative Writing because I love the idea of him using his discoveries as a historian to write heart-wrenching love stories.

REMUS LUPIN would be studying to become a Conservation Biologist. He’s just so passionate about animals finding homes and saving them from extinction, he feels like it’s his destiny. Would also most likely write books about it and write popular essays on everything he knows and how he thinks people can improve these endangered animals’ quality of life. Remus would most likely relate to Lily the most.

JAMES POTTER would be either studying to become some kind of doctor, or to become a professional coach of some sport like football (what Americans call soccer), there’s no in-between for me. He’d be really passionate about it either way, and would be found staying up all night studying.

PETER PETTIGREW would definitely be an Arts major, although he wouldn’t want to be stuck in one branch of art. He would probably try all different kinds of arts before he even thought about favoring one. I just picture paint stains on his clothes and a mixture of ink and charcoal staining his hands.

LILY EVANS would probably study to become a Botanist, which would awaken her inner environmentalist. I really think she’d go on long rants about how plants are dying and animals are going extinct and now we’re all being deep-fried by the sun because of global warming. She and Remus would almost always be caught talking about these things.

REGULUS BLACK would a scientist of some sort, maybe a chemist. He’s a man of science and loves math by extension. He’s so sirius serious about his academics and goals.

what do y’all think would have been the marauders favourite subject if they went to like muggle school?

Do you actually understand what radfems believe? I don't think you do (and no, vague callout posts don't count)

*record scratch*

This is the point where you benevolently instruct me on what radical feminism "really" is, invoking a no-true-scotsman fallacy for the vast majority of radical feminists I have encountered, educating me into a benevolent version of radical feminism that is "just" about recognizing women as an oppressed class, "just" acknowledging biology, "just" about protecting the lesbians that are under imminent threat of being raped by men that use trans inclusive legislation to "access women's spaces."

At which point I am supposed to go, "Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, and I guess the whole TERF thing is piggybacking on a long trend of people hating feminism for no reason!"

Unfortunately for you, you're not the first person to try this, nor am I unfamiliar with the so called Radical Feminists, and I know that what probably appears and feels like innocent and important critical thought is the mouth of a deep pit with hateful bigotry, batshit assumptions, and oppressive, restrictive bio-essentialism at the bottom of it.

You possess only benevolent concern for trans men, until you start calling recipients of mastectomies and hysterectomies "ruined" and "mutilated." You just want to stop abuse, until a woman is alleged to be an abuser, and this doesn't seem possible to you. You just want to acknowledge the reality of biology, until a person born with two X chromosomes and a vagina and labia who also has facial hair and a deep voice wants to use the bathroom, and it feels to you like she shouldn't.

The radfem understanding of "biology" and its importance is wrong. There is no need to "affirm" or "deny" biology. It just is. No matter what your opinion on the nature of intersex conditions, a strict biological sex binary in human bodies objectively does not exist. We are talking about science. There is no "should."

To consider the conditions necessary for reproduction, or anything that is evolutionarily advantageous, as a moral imperative is bonkers. It is not "better" to conform more to a sex binary. God is not watching. My uterus does not "make" me a woman because it's not "for" anything. I potentially CAN become pregnant but biology does not "want" me to, evolution has not made me "for" being a woman, evolution does not think or want or intend ANYTHING. Categorizing people based on which size gametes they could produce under ideal circumstances is 100% a choice.

To judge human reproductive biology as a moral ideal is survivorship bias; yes, we "have to" have "biological sexes" (which really doesnt mean anything outside of having differentiated gametes) to cOnTiNuE aS a SpEcIeS. No, this does not mean that everyone does fall into one of two categories, or that everyone should, or that we should care about the consequences if we don't. "Humans have two sexes except for disorders" is not the objective statement you think it is. On a cosmological scale, life itself is an anomalous disruption of equilibrium. We are disorder.

Y'all are like 4% away from being far-right evangelicals in MANY of your ideas. When you assert that trans men only "identify" as men because they're unhappy and you're only benevolently concerned about them, you're repeating something that homophobic fundamentalists very much do say about lesbians (and the most threatening thing about lesbians to these fundamentalists is their gender non-conformity!) The same group of people cites human reproductive biology as evidence that no one is "really" gay.

And of course, if you take producing eggs as both the fundamental defining quality of a woman and as more sacred or defining than anything else, and you feel entitled to the bodies of trans men to the extent that you think you have any say at all in what medical procedures they do or don't have, you fundamentally don't support reproductive rights. You don't support the rights of women to their own bodies, you don't support the rights of men to their own bodies, and there are indeed many self-identifying "pro-life radfems," who have taken this idea to its logical conclusion.

Do not do this. Stop. Your ideas about trans people are repugnant, don't get me wrong, but fundamentally this stuff hurts everyone. I would not be a "radfem" even if it wasn't for the bigotry toward trans people. The whole ideology is ass backwards. And it is stuffed to the brim with people who are willing to hurt anyone, even those they are supposedly defending, in order to hurt the people they hate.

Wolfstar FanFic Coming Soon

Hello everyone!

My name is MG Soto, and I’ve been writing a very long Wolfstar fan fiction for about five years - it’s mostly detailing and outlining, so I still have to do the actual writing. It all really started shortly after reading PoA and I just honestly fell in love with the very few details we were given of the Marauders’ lives.

I don’t, in any way, support JKRoach - but I am a strong believer that one can separate the art from the artist.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading it. It’ll be from 1971-1981; so basically, I’ll be taking everyone on a special journey throughout their years at Hogwarts and the few years before the end. I have a couple of twists up on my sleeve, which I’m very excited about.

Under the cut are some important headcanons I’ll be using throughout the story:

Remus Lupin

1. Remus is an avid reader but not the best student when it came to academics - this comes from the tendency to procrastinate a lot as well as always being out with friends causing mayhem, as you do.

2. Remus has issues with his father, because I just really don’t think Lyall Lupin is just going to forget his strong hatred/ignorance towards werewolves just because his son is one. I think there is so much more we can unpack in their relationship.

Sirius Black

1. Sirius was not automatically okay with being a Gryffindor despite his entire family being Slytherins; it takes him at least a year to warm up to his roommates and the other House-mates.

2. Sirius is the one that keeps his part of the room neat, has pretty handwriting, turns in most of the work on time and checks his friends’ work for grammar errors. You can’t grow up in a household where your parents are constantly drilling their expectations in your head and then leave it all behind overnight.

James Potter

1. James is a POC, Indian, to be specific. His parents are immigrants who had done everything they could in order to get a better life, they try to teach James as much as possible about his culture and language, so that he never forgets.

2. James is the one that makes sure his friends have completed all of their schoolwork before they can even think about having fun. He’s not about to let them fall behind just because they weren’t responsible.

Peter Pettigrew

1. Peter is an actual member of the Marauders. He has his positive and negative traits just like every other character. He falls in love, has his hobbies, and his own friends that are not James, Remus, and Sirius. He’s a person.

2. Peter has a younger sister, which he would do any and everything for. He’s very protective of her, and is willing to do just about anything to keep her safe.

Lily Evans

1. Lily will be an accurately represented plus-sized character. She’ll have her confidence, but also her insecurities like every other skinny or fat girl. Being fat will not be her only character trait, but it’ll be brought up enough to show what it means to be anything but skinny in this society.

2. She’s not going to be a complete stuck-up. I’ve always hated it so much when they showed her like that, honestly, and so I decided that she can be fun and funny too.

Marlene McKinnon

1. She’s a transgender woman. She’s incredibly badass, but also sensitive. She’s my baby, I’ve worked so hard on her (the amount of trans women who’ve helped me is ridiculous, I love them all).

2. She was the Marauders’ fifth roommate, and she is also Sirius’ platonic soulmate. Their friendship’s so pure.

Other Characters You’ll Meet...

1. Mary MacDonald

2. Dorcas Meadowes

3. Severus Snape (not a main character, but an important one)

4. Three (3) OCs

That is all that comes to mind! I’ll be posting the story on AO3 and on Wattpad once I’m done. I’ll be using this account to update everyone on the process (It’s mostly done, but I’m hoping that you guys will help me push through so that I can finish it). Let me know if there are any questions, suggestions, or comments!

To the moon and the stars,

MG Soto
