๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. โSmudgeโ sticks can be made of many different herbs. I recommend using white sage sticks. Light it and wave it gently in the air, encouraging the smoke to spill over the crystals. This action is smoke cleansing, not to be confused with smudging.
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. Like with smoke cleansing, the smoke created from lighting the incense is wonderful depending on the scent and infusion of the sticks to spill over crystals. For incense I can recommend frankincense and myrrh, or any cleansing mixes.
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐. You can use salt water from the ocean or simply put salt in a bowl of water. Hold your crystals so that they are immersed in the water. Itโll cleanse the energy from the stones. Be sure to clean your crystals using clean water afterwards. Some crystals can not be placed in water because they are too soft, or brittle. Water can cause some stones to fracture and break, or even dissolve! Be sure to look up your crystal and what cleansing is best for it.
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. Sit comfortably in a quiet room or a place of your choosing. Hold your crystals in your hand and close your eyes, allowing the silence and serenity to envelope you. Visualise your crystals in front of you. Picture a wave washing all the negative energy trapped inside the crystals away. Do this until you intuitively feel that they have been cleansed.
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. This is the easiest method of cleansing, and safe for all crystals. Also, The full moon can act as a reminder for you that your crystals need cleansing. Simply wait for the full moon and place your crystals outside so that they are surrounded by the moonโs gentle energy. If you donโt have an outdoor area that is safe for your crystals to be placed, a windowsill will work too. It does not matter if your window does not face the moon. The moonโs energy will still be present. Then bring them back inside in the morning. ย
So this is one of those things I've kept on hand ever since my days as a baby witch because it's a) easy to make and b) easy to hide if you're still closeted for any reason because it doesn't really smell or anything. I mean yes now I don't have to hide so I keep mine in an old pickle jar, but it can be kept in opaque containers to hide it if necessary.
You really only need 2 things for this - some kind of metal that will rust, and water. You're essentially letting the metal rust and using the rusty water for your craft. Of course this means be very careful, don't touch this with your bare hands/don't get it on your skin (and wash up right away if you do get it on you), and any implements you use to stir it or handle it need to be washed thoroughly when you're done.
Now if you look around some people will tell you that you need very specific metals and/or water - versions where only cut nails will do, or broken pins, or something of the sort and where the water has to be rain water, snow water, set outside in the moonlight, collected only on a certain day, whatever. And I'm not saying those versions are wrong per say, but they are not universal to everyone's practice.
Mine contains any metal I know will rust - bits of jewelry chains that broke, metal rings from pendants I pried off, a few nails from old projects that would have just been tossed out otherwise, ect. And the water? Plain tap water. I haven't had the ability to set up my rain water or snow water collection systems since I moved in with my house mates, so I just use tap water.
As for uses, war water is most often associated with a form of protection. A very aggressive, offensive form of protection that is known to basically cause your enemies to war with one another while also taking those disruptive energies and taking them far away from your life. It can also be used to take a curse and throw it back at the person who sent it at you. It's a great to sprinkle across doorways and window sills outside to protect yourself, and personally I keep a small bottle of it in a woven hang by my bedroom door along with other protective elements :)

in the โcovenโ iโm in a lot of people found this helpful so i thought iโd post here!! naturally there are likely other methods, but these are what iโve come in contact with the most. so in my experience there are 2 ways to create a ward: creating an astral safe space & manipulating energy to act as a shield.
1. creating an astral safe space is exactly what it sounds like. itโs your own space, where you can always access. youโre not actually astral traveling anywhere, because your safe space is essentially a part of you โ itโs like your home, but astrally. ( it is possible to explore your own astral space, change it, or continue to develop it. ) naturally, this will require the ability to astral project.
an example: my astral safe space has multiple layers. the most general or โleast safeโ is the setting, which is a familiar forest modeled after a real forest i would spend a lot of time as a kid. i feel safe there. if i donโt feel safe in that space, i go to my next layer, and my most secure (excluding my deity & her spaces): my truck. i imagine myself in my truck, slamming the doors shut, rolling up the windows, locking the doors. nothing can get me there.
2. manipulating energy to act as a shield is more self explanatory. you take your energy and imagine it spreading across your whole body as to cover you. then you simply spread it outwards, until itโs like a bubble or dome, and then you solidify it. this method is easier but less reliable, as sometimes someone will simply make a lot of poor shields rather than one or two strong ones.
bonus: astral warding
astral warding & protection can manifest in many ways. the manipulated energy is always assumed to be there and is not visible. however, wardings can manifest as a part of your astral form.
example: after i met gaia and she gave me her protection, my astral body became surrounded by thick, thorny vines.
happy warding witches!!!
I made this to relax before bed and bring in sweet dreams and happiness the next day. This is good after a stressful day or when you want a good nights sleep.
What you need
-3 chamomile tea bags - relaxing, peace, happiness
-water (I used normal water but you can use rain or moon water for more of an effect)
-milk
-honey - to sweeten your dreams
-cinnamon - to bring happiness into the next day and to remind you that the sun always rises the next day
Steps
I. Fill a mug ยผ full of water and pour it into a pot. Put the chamomile tea bags in and simmer the pot to let them seep
II. Let the tea get really strong. Maybe simmer it for about 10 minutes
III. Fill the mug about ยพ full of milk and pour it into the tea. Make sure to leave the tea bags in.
IV. Add in honey and stir until devolved. Once your milk tea is warm, pour it into the mug and sprinkle cinnamon one top
V. Hold the mug in your hand and change it with calm and happy energy
I hope you enjoy this delicious milk tea! Have a wonderful day ๐ผ
You will need:
Four small bowls
Frankincense oil or tears
Myrrh oil or tears
Vervain oil or plant matter
Yarrow oil or plant matter
Salt
In four small bowls, in four corners of the house, place one tablespoon frankincense, one tablespoon myrrh, one tablespoon vervain, one tablespoon yarrow, and surround each bowl with a circle of salt.
Sitting in the center of the house, you then surround yourself with a circle of salt, and seek your own power. This is your home. It is your territory. You are the power of this place and it is your temple. It has meaning because it is yours. It is a home because you make it one.ย
Seek feelings of security, stability, and confidence within yourself, remembering your home as a place of safety and rest.
When those feelings are strong within you, cast a claiming and warding.
The claiming and warding I prefer is quite simple, โThis house is mine. I have claimed it with frankincense, that there may be riches within it. I have claimed it with myrrh, that evil cannot enter here. I have claimed it with vervain, that it may be a sacred space, a temple for my earthly flesh. I claim it with yarrow, that only good health may enter here. This house is mine.โ
But you use whatever warding affirmation you prefer.
Gather each ingredient from the four bowls and place them in a container of your choice. Place this somewhere in the home โ the mantle of the fireplace, inside your chest of drawers, on your altar, etc. Gather the salt from the circles and scatter it around the outside of the house, reinforcing your warding, for example, saying: โThis house is mine. This house is mine. This house is mine.โ
Cautionary Note: If you are using pure essential oils rather than infused oils, please be careful touching them, as they can cause chemical burns.
Back to school means lots of stress, and even more exams. It's important to study all the time as much as you can, and this wearable* spell bottle is a neat little way to help increase your productivity.
* does not have to be worn, can be carried as usual
The spell:
Small jar, preferably glass and corked
Sage // wisdom, mental clarity
Cinnamon // success, increased mental energy
Ginger // power booster, energy boost
Irish moss // luck
Chamomile // stress relief
Peppermint // mental clarity, success
Lemon balm // success
Lemon peel // energy booster!
Elderberry // power boost
Heather // protection, luck
Wearable charm:
Eye pin
Jump ring
Necklace/something you want to put the charm on (a second one I did, which I'll post later, is a protection charm for my keys)
If you're going to make it wearable:
Poke your eye pin through the cork top, and bend the excess back into the cork (like a j going through the cork)
Glue the eye pin to the cork, so there's no way it can come off and break
Connect a jump ring to the eye, so now you have a way to connect your charm to whatever you want it to hang off of
Take wax or super glue, and seal shut ๐ค
As you can see, I didn't have an eye pin or a jump ring, so I bent a few sewing pins using jewelry pliars into the shape I needed
For the bottle:
Layer your herbs inside the bottle, it do esn't matter what order ๐
I'm not a photographer, but I think you get the point ๐๐ค
This is it when it's done.
Please remember that this will not work if you don't study. Magic can only boost, it won't make you pass the exam if you don't do the work. Happy school year!
