I love the relationship between Nesta and Azriel so much. They are so parallel to each other and the endless patience and maturity Azriel directs towards Nesta is refreshing, especially considering how all the characters (including her mate and sisters) were so emotionally ignorant and unaware.
When it was said that:
Azriel never said a bad word about Nesta. Never seemed inclined to start a fight with her.
I knew that they would be close for a long time. But more importantly, the fact that his kindness wasn’t just a new development in ACOSF but was his standard way of interacting with Nesta from the start.
Almost everyone in the IC approached Nesta poorly or with questionable intent or bad mouthed her amongst themselves. Rhysand and Mor would often insult Nesta behind her back (though Feyre actually did reprimand Rhysand that one time) and even Cassian judged her the first moment he saw her.
But never Azriel. Azriel who saw Nesta and never said anything cruel to or about her. Azriel who never saw the point of fighting with her. Azriel who really saw her and treated her with the respect and patience she deserved.
Notice how throughout the entire series, the only amicable relationship Nesta had (besides Amren…and only up to a point) was with Azriel. One thing about Nesta is that she never starts fights but she will stand her ground and finish them. Every interaction between her and the IC is her defence or retaliation to the wrongdoings done by others. Hence her good relationship with Azriel.
I hope to hear more about them in the next books. I think Azriel could teach his court a few things too.
Alwyn Scribe to me is a character of all time. Was illiterate up to age 17, then very soon after learning to write became regarded as one of the best scribes in the world. Lies at any given opportunity. Once tried to smuggle a vial of poison into prison by hiding it up his ass. God’s specialist little guy despite spending most of the series an atheist. Started several holy wars while once again not believing in any of the religions involved. Kept refusing to break up with his girlfriend despite all the red flags and the divine omens that she was evil. Really cares about preserving books and history but also wrote shit that was fully not true and tried to get it into an archive. Historians cannot agree whether he was good or evil because he switched sides so much. What more could you want from a man
When I waited in anticipation, for two years, for Season 2 of The Bad Batch, never for one moment did I think it would result in my partner chanting ‘Let Tech fuck!’ whilst eating breakfast.
Obi-Wan's shit eating smirk is EVERYTHING.
Funnily enough, when they first meet past the edges of the Sol system, the aliens like the humans.
None of the humans were prepared for this.
The humans prepared for decades- for centuries! to contact life out in the black, and be judged harshly for their past.
The aliens, almost to the one, seemed delighted with humanity and everything they entailed. Good, bad, and ugly.
“You see, we heard you calling out for long, long, long… we could not find where you called out from. Now we have! You called for so long, and now we meet you! It is good to know you! We have tried so hard to find you and say, Hello!”
The messages Earth sent out, just in case there was anyone out there to hear, to extend reassurance that they simply were not alone was received always with delight. And they sparked a soft race to find the origin of such a kind and curious signal into the vastness of the universe.
if mor was a girls girl she'd have yanked Cassian back and scolded him for bothering Nesta so much. idc if they're worst enemies or whatever but if I see a girl getting harassed by some guy after she verbally said to leave her alone, ESPECIALLY if it was my guy friend, I'd be putting his ass in his place for bothering her like ew why are u letting this man harass a girl when u were the subject of male harassment. girl ur an embarrassment to feminism and solidarity
Nesta being treated like a feral, uncontrollable thing when:
a) Azriel attacks Eris at the high lord meeting and tortures people for a living
b) Feyre attacks Beron and - inadvertently - the lady of autumn at the meeting
c) Cassian is banned from a whole court and slaughtered a whole village when he was angry
d) Rhys worked with a tyrant for 50 years
e) Mor and Amren had a fight that destroyed a mountain
okay but imagine its a normal day on coruscant but similar to real life there is a paparazzi and someone happens to get pictures of anakin and padme and the holonet does a backflip
suddenly EVERYONE is talking about anakin and padme, padme and anakin, jedi and senator... and the jedi council is completely uprooted from the inside out. What are they supposed to do? they have to kick anakin out
but then the holonet supporters start to... actually like anakin and padme. it is fanpage after fanpage and positive tweet after another. its an insane chain of people stanning these two coruscant kids because they are now the cutest couple of the holonet.
AND THEN the jedi council comes out with a statement that basically says, "yeah we might kick anakin off the jedi order" and the entire universe RIOTS. protesters outside the temple, advocates take to the streets, speeches are made, etc, etc... its all coming to a head.
AND WHAT MORE? anakin "dramatic" skywalker here is basically bathing in the beauty of this and is over his snit he was in -over the fact that someone snitched (;D)- and now is actively showing up at the rallies and holding up signs that say "at least someone loves me" in bright pink lettering. at one he shows up with a sign that says "if u kick me out i join the separatists bet" accompanied by a poorly drawn image of anakin as a sith- ironic- and he has a jar and people donate 10,000 credits for the hell of it.
well nOW THE COUNCIL IS LIKE UH. They have the biggest coruscant uprising in the history of the galaxy because the stans and fangirls are flocking to support hot jedi anakin skywalker on his quest to be better than the jedi council.
well the council leads a vote, with mace leading the "kick him out" side- he wants to see if anakin actually goes dark side- and obi-wan leads the "keep him in" side. and by one vote, obi-wan swings the election and anakin is allowed to stay.
THE PEOPLE CELEBRATE. everyone basically got what they wanted in the first place save the select few that wanted to see anakin go to the separatists- because honestly, its been long enough of a war, right?- and anakin's first thing he does is marches the 501st out of the jedi temple in a parade with a sign that says "IM GOD NOW" because seriously, he has everyone on coruscant in a chokehold with his influence.
oh, and the "paparrazi" that took the photo? it was obi-wan.
the west wing is the best show ever because you wouldn’t expect to come out of a hard-hitting, critically acclaimed political drama with the ultimate found family trope, right? and yet the president is a complete nerd, his wife is scary and the top in their relationship, the president and his chief of staff are Dad 1 and Dad 2, the deputy chief of staff and his assistant are in a years-long emotional affair and everyone knows it but them, the communications director is grumpy as hell and you love him so much, the press secretary is tall, hot and awesome, the deputy communications officer is the gay son and the president’s aide is the human personification of a pleasure to have in class. and they’re all family and love each other very much :)
The absolute cruelty of the "Let Go" cover playing during the pool scene, because in order for Maddie to get her life back, Wally will have to let her go eventually. And she'll have to let go of him too, not just because she won't be able to see or speak to him anymore, but because she'll get to grow up and live a full life when he never will. She'll get to go to college, find herself outside of the confines of adolescence, have a career of her choosing, maybe even fall in love again and have a family if she wants to. If she gets to live again, she will be the Wendy to his Peter. The Wendy who gets to grow up while he'll always be outside her window, waiting for a reunion that will never come. This would've messed me up as a teenager but I think it hits even harder as an adult because you have a greater awareness of the magnitude of that kind of loss, especially if you know what it's like to see friends and classmates die young. They stay frozen in time, unable to move forward and hit certain milestones, while you and the rest of their peers are left to go on living. It's a surreal experience, and it never feels right. I think we all automatically expect our peers to be out there somewhere living parallel lives even if we're not close to them. We expect them to get the same amount of time we do. But some of them don't, and you have to keep going while you wonder why them, why were they the ones who had to get left behind? The older you get, the more gut-wrenching that thought becomes, and it's something this show handles very well without shoving it in your face to evoke an emotional reaction. It just quietly acknowledges the reality of that experience, which makes it all the more poignant.
Just a ton of fandom things Star Wars, ACOTAR, HP, Marauders, LOTR, anything I might be into at the moment
