Tim Drake is a mermaid.

Well, sort of, kinda, unbeknownst to him or his parents.

It all comes to light when he’s going through some of his mother’s belongings that had been packed away after her death, trying to find something that would remind him of her. He was beginning to forgot her face, her voice, the way the said his name, or even if she said, “I love you.”

His mother is dead. His father is dead. He just needed something tangible to prove she was there.

Carefully packed away he find a ruby necklace it’s a simple golden chain and pendant the he recognizes from one of the Wayne’s galas, the way it refracted the light and made her eyes glow.

He takes it out of the box and it’s almost unnaturally cool to the touch which isn’t even the weirdest part. When he takes it in his palm, something just sort of shifts in him, like the pieces of a puzzle slipped into place and he just feels whole. If he didn’t know any better, he would say there was a flash of golden light, but that just had to be a trick of the light… right?

That night, on patrol, Tim is shot and takes a plunge into the harbor.

There wasn’t enough time to slip in his rebreather and the floatation device in his utility belt won’t inflate and he’s drowning.

Down and down and he can’t breathe until he just… can…?

This time there really is a flash of gold and tattoos cover his skin, curling and swirling down his arms and chest.

Scales replace skin, he grows webbed fingers, and honest to god gills. And that’s not even the weirdest part. Not, there’s a tail. He. Has. A. Tail. His legs fuse into a deep red, almost black tail.

That’s when Dick, as Nightwing, swoops in and drags him to the surface. Tim too deep in shock to fight it.

When they get to the surface and all parties involved realize what’s happened Tim is like: “Wtf?”

And Dick is like: “Wtf?”

And Batman just shakes his head because now he has to call Arthur.

In true H2O: Just Add Water fashion, when he dries, the tail and gills go away leaving him with the tattoos that fade into what looks like regular ink.

As it turns out the necklace is an Atlantean artifact that ignited some long-lost Atlantean heritage in Tim thought to be long since died out.

Arthur is smug, Bruce wants to punch him, and Tim has garnered the nickname Fishboy (a la Jason Todd).

I love hitting characters with the trans beam but I love it even more when the implications of that are 10 times funnier than their presumed cis identities. EXHIBIT A: Richard “Dick” Grayson.

Dick, filing his legal documents with Bruce: okay you’re gonna scratch that name and write down “Richard”. But everyone will call me Dick

Bruce: …are you sure about that

Dick: did I stutter

Bruce: it’s a… really outdated name chum the kids at school aren’t gonna be nice about it

Dick: I. don’t. Care. Are you gonna write that down or should I go do the paperwork with the WE lawyers tomorrow?

very big fan of the idea that damian doesn't know how to express his affection directly to other people or else he will Implode™︎ so he just. drops paper stars into their utility belts.

tim hasn't actively tried to kill him the past week? three yellow stars in his back pocket.

grayson ruffled his hair once and he stomped out in a huff. the next time he tries to rummage around his bag, he finds like 10 paper stars just. inside. no bag for protection, just kind of all littered and slightly smushed because god knows how long they've been sitting there.

jon gets a whole mason jar's worth of them over the years, neatly placed on his nightstand so that he can look at them before he goes to bed.

in damian's mind, it's a nod to that one saying that goes "i'd give you the stars"; he just hopes they're smart enough to understand what it means.

imagine tim is bruce’s bio kid, and is immediately given to bruce when he is born, but bruce already has an eight year old (dick) and a four year old (jason) at home.

just imagine how the boys would act at a baby brother omg

Jason: B? When is Timmy gonna be old enough to play with me?

Bruce who is currently holding a two week old Tim in his arms: Not for a while, Jaylad. Why don’t you go play with Dick?

Jason: No. Dickie isn’t fun, and I want to be a good older brother and play with Timmy.

Bruce: Jay, you’re already a good older brother, but you have to wait until Tim grows up a little more until you can play with him, okay?

Jason: Hmpf, fine. But can I hold him, pretty please??

Jon becoming progressively more and more obsessed with Damian in the same way that proximity makes you more likely to start liking someone.

Like if you see someone frequently or your physically close to them a lot you're more likely to have romantic attraction to them. I think because Jon would always either be with Damian or listening to his heartbeat it would work the same, except with normal people there's obviously no way to CONSTANTLY be aware of someone, for Jon he can just listen to Damian's heartbeat 24/7 or even easily watch him from a distance whenever he feels like it. If people are more likely to catch feelings from just proximity being aware of someone at all times like that would probably lead to some sort of obsession, like I love the head canon that Jon needs to listen to Damian's heartbeat to fall asleep.
