I lived in New Mexico for a long time and the Navajo didn't really swing the state, though they certainly helped and won the areas they're in! I just thought I'd point out that NM is a minority majority state, what that means is the federal minority population is actually a majority of the population in the state.
About 57% of NM's population is Latinx, pretty much all coming from Mexico. Realistically, they are the main reason for NM voting blue, although the state voted blue in the last election as well. Anyways all this is just to say don't forget about our Latinx voters, they're super important! Regardless of that though, op's point still stands, def thank the Navajo nation!
We need to thank the Navajo a nation! They all got out and voted with no cars and few polling places- their population was enough to swing BOTH Arizona and New Mexico
Who's gonna tell him?
As someone who used to live in NM, this warms my heart
Papa DO Preach
Hey I didn't want to take away from all these good additions but I'd like to point out another YA dystopian series where the government is actually bad (essentially I'm answering tanginerinefemme's challenge). The first book is called Legend (series simply named the Legend series), and it's written by Marie Lu (a poc women author)! Legend has a lot cliches in it including a love triangle, although it's not as centralised as other series like twilight. The romance of the story is very prevalent, but it adds to the book because the first mc comes from a poor background and the second mc comes from a rich one.
A basic synopsis of the book, the US has split into two countries and are at war. Day (first mc) is a criminal who goes against the corrupt Republic of America. He becomes the prime suspect when June's (second mc) brother is murdered, and she is sent to find and arrest him. I recently reread them and noticed that the two separate America's each represent an extreme of the current American system. The one that most of the story takes place in is centric to the military, and the other is centralized around capitalism. In general it tackles a lot of issues and has many underlying themes, and it's just a great series, I highly suggest it
not to be all “tw*light did nothing wrong” but misogyny honest to god killed the hunger games
When you watch a show that's giving you all kinds of feels so you wanna stop watching but you gotta keep going and suddenly you hate yourself and the show but love it at the same time
