Whumpee played with their fingers anxiously, trying to get the strength to go to Caretaker.
They kept thinking about it. Almost a week ago, the nightmares had them up and screaming. Caretaker had come in, pulling Whumpee to their chest and carding their fingers through their hair, singing them to sleep.
That was some of the best sleep theyâd had in a while. The reoccurring nightmares made them crave every single feeling of that night again.
They just wanted to have a peaceful night of sleep.
âAlright Whumpee, Iâm heading to bed, you need anything?â
Whumpee was knocked out of their stupor, trying to catch up with what Caretaker said. âW- Iâm sorry, what?â
Caretaker gave them a friendly smile. âI asked if you needed anything?â They then came closer, resting their hands on top of Whumpeeâs fidgeting fingers. âIs everything alright?â
They opened their mouth, trying to form the words. The worst thing they could say was no, right? It really isnât, a little voice in their head told them.
âUh, can...â Whumpee couldnât bring themself to ask. âNever mind, never mind, sorry to bother you Caretaker. Goodnight.â
Caretaker gently grabbed their arm as they turned. âHey, what is it? You can ask me anything.â
âUh, well-â they took a deep breath. âCanIlaywithyoutonight?â
âUm... a little slower?â
Whumpee swallowed harshly. Then, in a voice no higher then a mumble, they spoke: âmy, er, my nightmares are getting really bad. Can- can I lay with you?â Frantically, they added. âIt doesnât even have to be all night, it can be for like, twenty minutes, or you can just say no, itâs-â
They were cut off by Caretaker gently cupping their face. âBaby, you donât even have to ask.â
Whumpee tried to blink back their tears. âI just didnât want to disturb you.â
âYou could never.â They then grabbed Whumpeeâs hand. âYou must be tired, come along.â They pulled them into the room, closing the door and turning off the light.
They crawled into the bed, Caretaker holding them in a spooning position, one hand in their hair and the other wrapped around their torso.
Their fingers fan gently through the locks of hair, making Whumpee melt in their fingertips.
âGoodnight Whumpee. I love you.â
The exhaustion of the last few nights quickly caught up to them, making Whumpeeâs eyelids heavy. âI love you too.â They were out moments after.
It is an instinctive reaction - for survival, to protect the weakest organs, but also for safety, that childish belief that burying your head in your knees will make you safe.
It wonât.
In the middle of a beating, giving up on fighting and curling up into a ball in panic and waiting it out.
As a response to pain, withdrawing from the situation, and curling up until they can breathe again, until the pain is no longer overwhelming.
As a fearful flinch, drawing back and curling away - from either the enemy or from a friend, memory writing over the present.
As a coping mechanism, curling to get away from the situation, to block it out, until the only thing they can hear is their own heartbeat.
Thinkin about split knuckles,,,
Bloody and bruised skin pulling tightly over bones. Itâs just. Yeah.
âCharacter B, youâre sick! Please just lay down and rest.â
âIâll rest when Iâm dead!â
âAnd thatâs gonna be far sooner than you think if you donât just lay down!â
Submitted by Anon - thanks!
Thereâs a huge misunderstanding and character B ends up hurting character A out of anger for something it turns out they didnât actually do. Bâs guilt when the truth is revealed is immeasurable.
Perhaps like,,,
Undercover mission goes wrong ((identity revealed??))
Thems some nice kneecaps you got there, be a shame if something were to happen to them
Whumper betting whumpee((and consequently, somebody else winning whumpee and taking them home))
âYou donât have the money?? Well perhaps you could pay it off,,, another way,,,â
Theres bound to be fights that break out
Depending on the casino it could definitely be a rather,,, sleezy place,,,
Whumpee gets a little too tipsy and makes some bets or says some things they really should not have
To name a few đłđł
Whump with a casino setting has so many possibilities but I dont feel up to naming all of them so Iâm just putting the energy out there

So, itâs been just over eight weeks since I made this blog and I thought Iâd do a little update?? Just so Iâve something to pin in place of my first intro
I post prompts, mostly. Just little dialogue snippets or vague concepts that pop into my head, along with the occasional drabble.
Iâm also in the process of making a few whump guide sorta things and Iâm looking into making gifs too.
Iâm also debating putting some fic on ao3 but,,, we shall see,,,
Oh, and Iâm Scottish, so time zones can be a little weird, I apologise for any delays in responses this causes :))
Anyway, love you all and hope yâall are staying safe :00
The whumpee gets laid up for a while. It takes them forever to become coherent enough to leave the hospital, and even then they have a long recovery ahead of them.
During this time, perhaps it began when the whumpee is still delirious on painkillers, a character starts watching a TV show in their room while they keep vigil.
Perhaps this character is their best friend, maybe itâs someone they donât necessarily get on well with. Maybe is the oldest or the youngest, but either way they begin to bond over the show. Perhaps itâs the thing that brings the whumpee back to reality, as through a haze of painkillers they mutter and offhand comment about the plot or characters:
âWho does he think he is.â A mumbles beneath an oxygen mask, âcheating bastardâŠâ
The two characters continue to watch this show, and others if they finish it quickly. They bond over it so much, other characters have entered the room to A (smothered by blankets because B is convinced A still needs coddling) leaning against B as they argue/cry/laugh over the antics on screen.
