no matter how many years stretch by, so long as both of us are alive, there is still a chance my father will permit me to die in his memory as something other than his daughter. that permission means he will die as something other than his father’s son. something better. something kinder.
in the ether of my mind, no matter which way it goes, we will meet on the other side. he will be twenty, thirty, again, trying to light a cigarette. i will stop, and hold out my lighter. the flame will dance; offering. it is up to him if he takes it.
there are theories that the self is all there is; the self is the universe’s entire consciousness, that you have been and will be every single person and thing in all of existence. all i know is that i keep my lighter forever topped-up with fuel. if i meet my father, on this corner or the next or the one after that, i will keep offering. in one of these worlds, on one of these corners, he accepts. in one of these worlds, we exhale plumes of tobacco smoke, soothing ourselves with nicotine as the world around us melts, warping into the open flame of the zippo.
in one of these worlds, we stand on the corner, watching the cars drive past, and my father walks down to a payphone and calls his father. when he hangs up after the first ring, i pick the receiver up. the operator asks where i’d like to call; tells me i paid for five minutes’ conversation. i stub my cigarette out underneath the keypad and tell her nevermind.
in the distance, the lights of a church basement glow up through barred windows at us. in another world, my father and i sit side by side, and pick up 24-hour chips, and drink shitty coffee. in another world, my father and i wear nicotine patches and lay brick. in another world, when i pick up the payphone, the operator informs me time is out on this receiver. please insert a quarter.

Going back to an earlier reblog--I think the thing that drags me into ace attorney so badly is the overwhelming amount of love and potential that is spilling out of the whole series. there's so much. phoenix and miles. phoenix and maya. mia and maya. miles and franziska. maya and pearl. phoenix and trucy. trucy and apollo. apollo and klav. miles and kay. ryunosuke and susato and kazuma. holmes and iris. iris and gina. and there's plenty i've left out bc i'm just hitting a bunch of the ones off the top of my head. so many families just like. sharing their mundane highs and traumatic lows and caring for each other and healing in all their various ways. i don't know. i love it so much i can hardly stand it

It’s crazy how much of a better person Winston Payne is compare to his shit ass brother. Bro lost to Mia once, three times against Phoenix, and then once more against Apollo, and bro was still standing strong each time.
Gaspen Payne on the other hand? Lost to Athena & Phoenix ONCE, and then fled the country to move to Khura'in because defence lawyers don’t exist there so he was able to become a king with endless praise, AND THEN when facing against Phoenix again - HE was the one to suggest that Phoenix should be fucking executed as a punishment???? BECAUSE HE LOST TO HIM ONCE.

Okay like I know Maya’s personality doesn’t change much when she’s 28 in SoJ, like she’s still the same old Maya. But I gotta be honest; 17 to 18 to 19y/o Maya just hits different - her weird teenage girl swag is just ON TOP.

Finished watching AAI2….. IT’S WAS SOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!! And this now means the only game I have left is ‘The Great Ace Attorney: Chronicles’ ….I can’t believe I’m saying goodbye to new content of the original cast… I’m going to miss them.. :((((
But on the bright side; even though I’m saying goodbye to the original cast in a sense (new content that I haven’t seen), I still have to finish playing the original trilogy myself! AND I get to be introduced to the cast of ‘TGAAC’! which I’m very excited to watch those games^^ :)
