need to rant for a minute here. i rewatched an episode of phoenix drop high awhile ago and i keep thinking about this one scene where garroth asks aphmau if she wants a boyfriend, laurance comments that it’s a blunt question, and garroth says “well at least i’m not afraid to ask blunt questions.”

like. JESSICA. how do you mischaracterize your own characters that badly?? garroth was always the more reserved one, while laurance was always more outwardly flirtatious and bold. that interaction should 100% be flipped; it should be garroth telling laurance that he’s being blunt and laurance telling garroth that “at least i’m not afraid to ask blunt questions,” not the other way around!!

it just drives me crazy because, after rewatching mcd recently, i’ve realized how much garroth and laurance were changed and watered down when they were adapted from mcd to mystreet/pdh. i feel that they had much more distinct personalities in in mcd while in mystreet and pdh, they almost seem like the same character in different fonts?? tbh, i think a large part of it was done to make room for aaron to be front and center instead, but that’s a whole other tangent.

bring back interesting and multifaceted garroth and laurance 2k25 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

i had this discussion with my friend earlier about this hypothetical mcd scenario and i want to know what the people of aphblr think;

do you think aaron knowing that aphmau was pregnant would have changed his decision to open the portal to the irene dimension, kill zane, and sacrifice himself in the process, or only solidified it?

i personally feel that aaron having that knowledge would have only solidified his decision. he says in the letter that he leaves aphmau that he didn’t make that choice out of a need for revenge, but instead out of a desire to protect aphmau and lilith like he couldn’t protect his wife and son. i think, knowing that he had another child on the way, he would have made the exact same choice.

that’s just my opinion on the matter though, so i’d kind of like to see if anyone else thinks differently?

NO LITERALLY… they so clearly had a sibling relationship in mcd. there’s literally an entire scene in mcd where aphmau tells dante she’s pregnant, he goes all Protective Brother Mode, and nicole compares him to being aph’s older brother. like why was he in that contest?? that’s her big brother!!

tbh i could go on and on about aph and dante’s sibling relationship in mcd because i love it so much. as much as i love garroth and laurance, i think it was important for her to have a guard in her life that wasn’t constantly pining after her.

i love him so much. like genuinely. his character potential was fumbled horrifically and i stand by that

Ok I’m gonna be honest- I forgot if Hyria met all the Divine Warriors- or just Irene- but the idea of her seeing Shad in Aaron all the time makes me so crazy. His mannerisms and appearance are so starkly similar- it is almost painful for her. She doesn’t know what to think of it. He doesn’t know he’s Shad’s descendant, and she doesn’t have the heart to tell him- so he’s just oblivious while she watches him like a hawk.

not to mention the fact she 100% knows that him and Aphmau are going to end up falling for each other because of their relations to shad and irene. she knows how this goes. she saw it first hand. URGH. IM DYING.

like imagine her trying to keep her distance from aaron because of everything too- but she just can’t because he’s so much kinder than shad ever was. just. WAHHHJWJW 💔💔💔 they make me so sad

ok but like honestly. awkward teenage aaron surrounded by strangers, and his village nowhere in sight. he doesn’t know that everyone he’d ever cared about has died. and nobody knows what to do. nobody knows about his relation to falcon claw except for aphmau. and on top of that nobody knows how to interact with him because he’s so starkly different from the person they originally knew. GOD. IM FUCKING SICK.

the angst potential with this is SO strong. SOMEBODY SEDATE ME 😭😭😭😭

sometimes i think about the fact mcd aaron’s mindset could’ve been that aphmau saved him from his misery so he had to sacrifice himself for her as some sort of thank you and i start hysterically sobbing
