So simple yet so stomach turning😤
dabi always sits with his legs open when he slouches on the couch. every time you see it, you're half pissed off and half turned on. there was something so undeniably attractive about how he sits so... inviting... he's caught you staring from across the room on more than one occasion, and he always smirks in response. he'll tap the inside of his thigh to beckon you over, shifting to get even more comfortable. normally, you flip him off and turn away to hide the embarrassing flush on your cheeks, but today you feel like throwing caution to the wind.
dabi's eyes widen as you approach him, one eyebrow cocked as you kneel between his feet. "hm?" he starts, cold eyes peering down at you. "feelin' brave tonight, babe?" the smirk on his face one again makes you feel a mix of anger and lust. "don't be an ass, dabi." he chuckles at your remark and leans down, ring covered fingers gripping your jaw. "hey now. i've only been tryin' to get you to do this for months now, just know there's no going back." he whispers in your ear. you already knew that, but his words spark something dark deep within you. "better not be a waste of my time then." you shoot back, tugging on his belt.
"mh, that attitude's gotta go. nothin' i can't fix in time."

The answer was right in front of him. To getting by with scraps, getting money, and getting Sho back. Though if you knew, you would protest greatly. Telling him those actions are those of a villain's. To be frank, he didn’t care anymore. If he was a bad guy in your eyes, in Shoto’s eyes. He just wanted to feel something. Something to get rid of the guilt that was suffocating him.
He approached the shopkeeper, an older man whose nose was delved inside a weekly newspaper. “Hey, old man.” With his right hand, Toya ignited the blue flames from his fingertips. The shopkeeper looked at him in horror, a sight Toya will never forget or get enough of. ‘So this is what sick kicks the old man gets.’ “Give me all your cash, I’m sure you don’t want your establishment to be incinerated.” The old man opened the register with shaky hands, tossing the cash in Toya’s direction. “P-Please don’t hurt me.”
Toya’s eyes glowed as bright as the flames. “We’ll see about that.” Taking a quick glance behind him, to make sure no heroes were nearby patrolling, he grabbed the old man’s arm. “Why don’t you throw in some free food too?” Toya’s arm tightened around the shopkeeper’s arm, adding heat to cause his skin to burn but not too severely. “O-Of course!” He handed Toya a disposable plastic bag with a smile on it. He let go of the old man to walk down the aisle and shove a ton of food into the bag. Bottles of water, some meds, and ready-to-eat food.
“W-Who are you?” The old man stayed shaking in the corner from behind the counter. Toya sent him a skin-crawling smile. “Dabi.”
Your phone rang off the hook, alerting you that a crime has happened. You immediately shot up and unlocked the cell phone, praying that you wouldn’t hear any news about Toya’s death or a fight he got caught up in. Instead, you were shocked to find out a nearby convenience store was burned to ashes, and the old man who attended it was hospitalized with severe burns. Something inside you tense up and made you feel like throwing up. ‘It can’t be Toya…’ You throw on your hero costume and jogged down to the crime scene.
Smoke and soot flew around like black snow, a sight that made fear rise inside of you. There was nothing left of the building, save for it’s metal structure. The air stung your lungs, but you kept moving until you saw police officers and other heroes. “Hey kid, you shouldn’t be here.” An older Pro-Hero patted your back. Their eyes were downcasted and set with frustration at the scene in front of you.
“I’m just here to learn about what happened. I live nearby.” The group raised an eyebrow at you, but nonetheless, they told you what happened. “According to bystanders, a man went inside and threatened the shopowner. Some sick robbery. No apparent motive besides money and food.” You nodded, jotting down the information on your phone. “Did anyone see what he looked like?” They all shook their heads. “Nothing, except the fact that he had some sort of fire quirk to burn this place down.”
After the discussion, you returned back home going over the information you had received. The signs could possibly point at Toya, but you refused to believe it. Not until you saw him with your own eyes. ‘Besides, they didn’t say anything about blue fire.’ You hoped with all your heart that it was just a coincidence.
Several more pyro-related incidents came up and they dubbed the villain the name ‘Dabi’, from what they had heard. You kept notes about every specific event. Armed robbery, breaking and entering, even murder. You had heard some information regarding Dabi’s appearance. Which you had jotted down with your board of the events. ‘Black hair, burnt skin, raggedy/torn clothing. Facial piercings.’ It didn’t sound anything like Toya which you thanked whatever forces there was.
But that didn’t stop your search for Toya either. You were just one more semester from graduation so you could spend way more time in the two investigations as an independent hero. Although you didn’t like the fact that Toya’s been gone for a few weeks, what could you do besides what you were already doing?
You tossed yourself onto the couch, sighing out loudly. Nowadays you barely got any sleep. Instead, you paid close attention to the news and alerts. Updating your investigations surrounding the pyro villain Dabi, and your missing friend Toya.
Your eyes caught a glimpse of the flowers wilting away in the glass vase. They were white roses that Toya had gotten for you before your ‘fight’ happened and he left. With a gentle hand, you grabbed one of the roses which their petals crunched between your fingers. You let them fall freely onto the carpet, as well as a few tears.
Your breakdown session was cut short as an incoming call lit up your phone. An unknown number. You picked up, wondering who it could be. “Y/N? This is Endeavor.” Your heart stopped in your chest hearing the too familiar voice. “E-Endeav-” “I want to speak with Toya. It is urgent.”
“How did you get my number?” The #2 Pro-Hero sighed before repeating himself. “I want to speak with Toya. Put him on.” “He’s not here.” “Then where is he?” “I don’t know!” You ended the call tossing your phone.
The cell phone shattered against the wall, causing a dent to form. Instantly, you smacked yourself for acting on impulse. The screen lit up, an alert coming through. You stood up, already being in your hero costume, and put on your mask. Grabbing your phone, you decided you could get it fixed on the way phone since it was only the screen that was mainly broken. Making the contents of the alert unintelligible.
Still, your mind went back to the phone call. How did Endeavor find your number? And if he found that, could he also find where you were? There was no doubt about it, knowing him. You wouldn’t be surprised if you got a visit from the big man himself. Especially since you just told him you didn’t know where his son is. ‘It’s your fault we’re in this mess.’ You clutched the phone in your hand, as your jaw tightened.
This was no time to point the blame, however. You had to get Toya back and make things alright. Then the two of you could go and get Shoto after your graduation, as you have been saving up money for that day. ‘I’ll find you, I promise Toya. I’ll make things better.’

“He’s just a kid!”
“WE’RE just kids toya! What can WE do?!”
In your apartment, you and Toya come up with a few ideas on how to get Toya back, safely and legally. As much as he hates it, he needs to wait until he’s 18 to get custody over Shoto and keep him safe. So for a few years, Y/N becomes a Pro-Hero while Toya becomes more of a vigilante.
He doesn’t want to be tainted with the name of a Pro-Hero but he respects your wishes of becoming one. One night, you come home to your shared apartment to find Toya all beaten up on the couch. It wasn’t the first time that he’s come home a mess, and neither was it the last time. Day by day, he’s been getting himself into worse trouble in his career.
You sighed loudly, closing the door with your boot. “Toya, we need to talk.” He didn’t bother sparing a glance in your direction. You tossed your belongings onto the counter and pulled out the first aid kit.
You made your way over to him, kneeling in front of him and popping open the container. You delicately dressed his wounds and wrap it in gauze. You held his arm for a moment, tenderly rubbing your thumb over the bandages. “Toya, please.” You pleaded, trying to get him to make eye contact.
No matter how much you pleaded, he kept disregarding you. The subject is heavy enough as it is, him not complying didn’t help either. Grabbing the medical items, you swung around and placed them back into the container they belong in. He wasn’t going to talk, but you knew he couldn’t help but listen.
Hesitantly, you locked the medical kit shut and sighed out heavily. He took notice of your distressed figure, but decided to keep quiet. “Toya. You’re not making this any easier.” Your fists clenched up until your knuckles turned white. It wasn’t going to be easy, but it had to be done. “I’m tired of you coming home banged up all the time. One of these days you’re going to end up dying without me even knowing.”
His breathing picked up abruptly but he still refused to engage. “Shoto would’ve wanted better of you.” You just had to light the fire under him. It was an accident, the words had carelessly slipped out of your mouth. Which showed in your actions as you covered your mouth with both of your hands, eyes widening. But it was too late to late anything back. He had already got up from the couch, and took heavy strides towards you. “What would you know about him? You left him.” Venom laced his words, piercing you deeply.
He knew it was an accident, he knew you couldn’t do anything that the time. But that didn’t fill the void in him, that didn’t silence the pain he felt every day. “You know I tried-,” “Tried? You ran off as always. You’re a coward. You shouldn’t even call yourself a hero.” “If that’s how you feel then you should just leave!” The two of you went back and forth exchanging further blows. It wasn’t something you could take back, but damn did it feel good to get the stress off your chests.
You squeezed your palms tightly until you felt crescent shapes digging into your palm to keep yourself from shaking. The air was heavy with tension and neither of you moved, nor made eye contact. You could tell from his stiff figure, that he felt the same way. “Fine.” The last words you’ll exchange that night. He grabbed a backpack and shoved what little things he owned and went out the front door, without closing it. Your feet remained glued to the same place.
Fear and anxiety wouldn’t let go of you, wouldn’t let you make a single move, or form a single word. ‘Stay.’ ‘Don’t go.’ Nothing more happened.
The apartment was dark and silent, as you sat huddled up on the couch, your mind raced. Not only if Toya gone, if he got hurt he wouldn’t come to you. ‘What if something bad happens to him?’ Getting up from the couch, you grabbed a jacket that Toya had left behind and threw it on. There was no time to waste, something terrible could happen to him and you weren’t going to spend one second overthinking.
Hours passed, as you spent all night searching through alleyways and abandoned buildings for Toya. Dawn was coming, as the sky turned into a lighter blue. Your legs stumbled underneath you, trying to keep going. Momentarily, you fell to your knees, exhaustion over taking you. ‘No...I need to find him…’ Rising up, you leaned against the walls to help hold you up. ‘There’s no way he’s going to show himself in daylight.’ With that, you started making your way to your apartment.
The night had been cold and wet, as present in your drenched clothes and shivering form. With shaky hands, you unlocked your front door, and shut it behind you with one foot. Not bothering to lock it in case Toya changed his mind. Though, you doubt that would happen. Limping to the bathroom, you shed off the wet clothes and turned on the warm water. It felt nice against your icey skin. Sliding down until you were sitting, you let you legs collapse freely.
Changing into a simple t-shirt and shorts, you collapse onto the sofa and stare up at the ceiling. Several situations crossed your mind of how to find him or how to get him back, but your consciousness failed you as you drifted off to sleep from lack of rest all night.
Toya on the other hand, got his hands dirty with doing crimes for other people to scrap together some money. Did he have a plan? Not really, just a tossed together ‘Japan or Bust’ concept. He bumped into a woman, and apologized, slipping past her. Quickly, he pocketed the money he stole from her into his pants. But in order for his attempt at a plan to work, he would have to survive by himself.
Since going to your place was definitely out of the question now. He could go back, make up an apology and fix things with you. No. It was your fault he was in this situation to begin with. You two almost had a perfect life. But your carelessness cost him greatly. The pent up frustration of leaving Shoto behind that day had never left him.
He walked into a dodgy convenience store, which had some overhanging lights flickering, to buy something warm to eat. Unfortunately the cold was getting to him, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle with his quirk. His quirk...

“Thanks for everything.” You handed Toya the keycard to the hotel room. “It’s the least I can do until we leave.” Flashing him a smile, you followed him to the elevator. “Why are we here?” Shoto looked up at Toya, cocking his head to the side. “It’s a short stop. You don’t want to be tired on the adventure, do you?” Shoto shook his head causing Toya to chuckle and pat his head.
“Are you sure you don’t need anything? I don’t mind running to the store.” You wrung your hands as you followed them into the hotel room. The room consisted of a queen-sized bed with an ivory plush comforter and several pillows, a mini-fridge, a gray marble counter with a sink and stove-top combo, and of course a spare room for the bathroom.
He turned towards you, grabbing ahold of your hands. “I’m sure. You’re still coming after classes right?” You nodded and took out your phone to look at the time. “Alright, I need to head back now. I’ll come as soon as I can.” You moved closer to him, wrapping your arms around his neck. He hesitantly pulled into the hug and patted your back. “I’ll see you soon.”

“I’m hungry, when is _ is coming back?” Shoto looked up at Toya, his bandage now removed. He sighed looking at the crimson mark covering his eye. “Soon,” he muttered the same words they exchanged earlier. “Why not take a bath?” He sat up, nodding towards the bathroom. “Maybe...” “I can ask for some bubbles,” Shoto nodded. “Alright stay put then, I’ll be back.” He turned on the tv, switching to a random cartoon.
Locking the door behind him, Toya shoved the keycard in the front pocket of his black jeans and jogged down the stairs to the lobby. The reception area was brightly light, the beige tiles standing out. Behind the desk, an older woman with kind eyes greeted him. “How can I help you young man?” Toya asked for some bubbles, his attention diverting to the tv screen above the reception.
On the television, Endeavor was being interviewed talking about his two missing sons, Shoto and Toya. The banner at the bottom of the screen listed information about who to contact and so forth. His cerulean eyes widen in shock. For a moment, the world slowed down and everything was shut out to him. Leaving only him and his thoughts which were running rampant.
‘What if he knows where I am? What if he’s watching me right now waiting?’ “Here you go sir!” Toya blinked as the older woman extended out her hand to give him the bottle. He stared at the bottle like it was a foreign object, unknown to him. “Thanks...” He grabbed the bottle and jogged up the stairs.
Once returning to his room, he ran the bath for Shoto and added bubbles. While he was distracted, Toya took the opportunity to ravage through their bags for his cellphone. With shaking hands, he went to the balcony and smashed the screen of his phone. Removing the sim card, he continued to stomp the device.
His eyes shone, the blue terror clearer than day. Going back inside, he grabbed their clothes, safe for what Shoto had put aside, and began burning them. ‘He can’t know. He can’t find us.’ His eyes darted back and forth rapidly. He didn’t notice the cars passing by, he didn’t notice the tv showing photos of Shoto and him, he didn’t notice the tears streaming down his face, nor his breathing coming out in short huffs and he choked back sobs.
And he certainly didn’t notice Shoto let you in, as you ran out to him, kneeling beside his curling figure. No words left your mouth, or maybe he just drowned them out. He closed his eyes tightly, his head resting in your lap. You stayed silent, your fingers running through his hair.

“I brought you some groceries and other stuff.” Several shopping bags surrounded you as you sat on the bed with the boys. The groceries to make soba were put in the fridge and cabinets, and she took two box dyes out from the bags. One black and the other white. “I thought you would like this.” Toya smiled tiredly, nodding his head. “Thank you, you’ve done so much already.”
You shook your head, “I haven’t done much. You should put it on while I make dinner.” You gestured to the bathroom. “Alright alright, come on Sho.” He grabbed his brother's hand and led him to the bathroom with the box dyes in his free hand.
In half an hour, Toya came out with black hair and Shoto had pure white hair. “I look like mom now!” Toya chuckled, with guilt and pain underlining it. ‘I have to do this,’ he closed his eyes and ran his hands through his hair. “Come on Toya! _ made soba!” He tugged on Toya’s sleeve.
He stood up and walked next to you, “How’s it going?” “I’m cooling down the noodles for Sho right now.” Your hair was tied away from your face as your hands worked diligently to prep the meal. “I also got you a burner phone.” Wiping your hands on a towel, you take out a spare cell phone from your pocket and handed it to him. “My number is already saved. In case something happens and you need to get ahold of me.” “Thank you,” He looked over the phone and then tossed it onto the bed.
“After dinner I need to head back to my dorm.” You handed the bowls to the boys and sat down with them. The air was tense, the incident still untalked about. A few minutes passed by and you decided to break the silence. “What happened earlier?” Toya’s face fell as he stared into his half-eaten bowl of soba.
“I saw him on the tv, he’s looking for us.” Sho remained unaware, giving his bowl his entire attention. “Is he in the area?” “I’m not sure, and I'm not sticking around to find out.” “We have two more days before we go.” Your alarm sounded and you checked your phone. “It’s my boss, we have an assignment.” Putting the empty bowl in the sink, you hugged both of them and said your goodbyes.

A deep inhale arose from his slightly parted lips. The end of the cigarette became a glowing orange, the smoke filling his lungs. Holding his breath, his bright cerulean eyes bore through the ceiling. His mind was a tattered mess just like him. He breathed out through his nose, the smoke being lighter than when it first entered his lungs. A soft vibrating resounded throughout his mattress. Propping himself up with his elbows, he glances over at his device. The screen lit up, revealing some missed calls and unread messages from her. His nose scrunched up at the sight of your contact name, and he placed his phone face down on the bed. Laying back down, he took another long drag. His phone began vibrating again, only this time it lasted longer. He flipped over the phone to see the reason. You were calling. Pressing the decline button, he unlocked his phone to view your messages. Scrolling until he reaches the most recent one, he decides to reply. His heart twisted uncomfortably in his chest at the sorrow your texts conveyed.
His message only contained an ounce of sympathy but was mainly avoidant and distant as to why he hasn’t been responding. Ending it off with a goodbye, he powered off his phone to prevent his phone from being spammed by you again. His expression dulled as he stood up and walked over to his dresser, opening to get out an assortment of alcohol. Twisting off the cap and flicking it off, he drank straight from the bottle and threw himself back on his mattress. He closed his eyes, enjoying the subtle feeling of the room spinning. Drumming his fingers on his chest, he slightly nodded his head along with the music he had blaring. The persistent knocking on his door caused him to open his eyes. His forehead creased, he knew who’s at the door already. “Dabi!” He heard your muffled cries. However, he couldn’t bring himself to get up. Whether the reasoning being the alcohol tainting his movements or the guilt that suffocated him. He knew what he was doing wasn’t fair to you. But he didn’t have the willpower to stop. Or to hold you close. His eyes darted to the doorknob that was twisting but failing to open. “Can we please talk?” Your voice tinged with sadness. He decided that it would be better for both of you if he didn’t move. His mind was whirling as his eyelids fluttered closed.
