Johnshi & Gelphie Parallels
After listening to Wicked, I realized that "What Is This Feeling?" and "For Good" give such Johnshi vibes.
Elphaba and Glinda's relationship is similar to Johnny and Kenshi's. Like the two women, Johnny and Kenshi started disliking each other intensely and were unwilling to resolve. But it changed when an important moment brought them together- Elphaba wore Glinda's "gift" and Glinda danced with her when no one else would while Kenshi lost his sight protecting Johnny and Johnny took care of and encouraged Kenshi to keep going. Elphaba and Kenshi are similar since they are more withdrawn and serious. The same for Johnny and Glinda who are more comedic and self-centered, but kind. In the end, I like to believe Johnny and Kenshi see each other as the one that changed them for the better. That's why I love their intros together since we see how much they care about each other- Johnny asking Kenshi if Jax is a good guy and calling him his best friend while Kenshi takes time to go to Johnny's movie shoot and trusts him to take down the Yakuza by his side. If they become a couple at some point, I would beam with joy. They would be a great couple. I kind of doubt it could happen because of BladeCage, but I'm still going to dream.
Anyway, I'm going to be listening to "For Good" with Johnshi playing through my mind. 😂

What do you mean the iconic witch hat was born from Glinda's spite and cruelty but became a symbol of her willingness to stand by Elphaba even if it ostracized her from her friends and peers? What do you mean the witch's broom is an item enchanted in a moment of panic and innovation as Elphaba refuses to be cowed and grounded? WHAT DO YOU MEAN the spooky black cloak is a representation of Glinda's selflessness as she wraps it lovingly around Elphaba's shoulders, a threadbare cloak that will maybe, hopefully, keep her best friend (lover) warm? WHAT DO YOU MEAN all these symbols of evil actually represent a deep bond of friendship and love? What do you mean????
thinking about how the best case scenario that elphaba can imagine in the wizard and i is that finally someone will come along who will be able to change everything about her. even in her wildest dreams, she views that as her best option.
and then.
along comes galinda. who - after spending an entire night attempting to give her a makeover - settles on: ‘actually, you’re perfect just the way you are. i wouldn’t change a thing. except maybe to tuck a little piece of myself in with you, just there.’
and i just think that’s neat.
Wicked spoilers!!!
My biggest hope for Wicked part 2 is that they change the ending just a bit. It’s never sat well with me that the play ends with Elphaba and Fiyero leaving Glinda behind to just think that the two people she loved most are dead and gone, leaving her alone. It’s kind of a cruel thing to do to a best friend.
Something I would do if I were making the movie is to have the last scene be a mirror of the end of part 1- maybe something like Glinda walking into her room to find Elphaba waiting, surprising her, and Elphaba holds out her hand to ask Glinda to come with her. You could even have the movie end before Glinda takes her hand, leaving it ambiguous as to if she decides to go with her this time or not.
