I personally believe Himiko Toga truly represents growing up as a girl who doesn't actually fit the mold of what society expects from being born as one; the refusal to be objectified and subsequently abused to feel obligated to fit in, despite the cost of rebelling.
It's alright when Himiko hasn't developed her Quirkβher sense of personality and identityβbecause her parents can play dress up with her as they please. Himiko can just be anything they want her to be.
She has been taught being cute is being human and this link is repeated over and over again when we hear about her. Her parents punish her individuality by calling her a monster, denying any possible humanity and forcing her to suppress herself; Himiko cannot just be anyone she wants to be.
This idea is stressed when she is paired up against Ochako over and over again throughout the series.
Ochako is the perfect example of what a girl should be like. She is selfless, innocent, kind and she buries deep down, to an unhealthy extent, all possible ugly thingsβthe ideal, damaging image of what a girl should be like. When she is in love or jealous or even sad, she refuses to let these things show until she is alone as opposed to Himiko, who has learned to let herself go (with a cost, of course.)
What does Himiko mean when she says she wants to be like Ochako? We understand that she literally wants to become somebody else because that is the way she loves, but has Himiko ever loved herself?
In the final battle, Himiko takes the blood of Ochako only to offer all of her blood back. The detail is, when she does this, she keeps parts of her actual features this time. The lightning is used specifically on that side of her face, because Himiko isn't hiding herself anymore under someone else's face in order to feel loved.
She learns to fully love herself because Ochako, someone who has grown on the side of normality, fights to let her know what she means for her. She is ready to take more than one stab wound just to reach Himiko and let her know that she envies her smile. Her freedom. Ochako may have always been accepted on the surface, but she now validates Himiko's way of living however she pleases and even claims to want to have the liberty she does.
And Himiko allows her (and eventually literally pushes her) to live however she wants to as well, freeing Ochako from all the previous expectations she was once held back with too.

Let's be honest guys, Horikoshi is taking absolutely (almost) EVERY theory that has been floating around the fandom and turning them CANON left and right, Surely he will confirm the Dad For One theory in a few chapters
(And in the worst possible way as he did with Tomura in the previous chapters)
The Identity of Deku's Dad
Has anybody else been so hyped after reading the latest chapters of MHA (418-422) because of the hints that the identity of Deku's father will be revealed soon?
In chapter 422, The U.S. president is shown, stating that all American heroes are to come to Japan, so perhaps Deku's father might be on that list of people arriving to help out.
I know there is still the possibility of the reveal being Dad for One, which is an interesting theory in my opinion, but the other chance that it might be an individual who works with heroes or is one of them also seems very intriguing.
It could also be the president himself, given how he is always in the shadows, but I honestly feel there is a slim chance for that to be true.
I can't be certain how Horikoshi will put the puzzle pieces of who Izuku's father is together, but I feel the president panels might be a piece of the puzzle somehow. His face is in the shadows...
...but again so was AFO's face for a long time.
I still feel really strongly about the DFO theory. On one hand I do see how people might be displeased by it, because AFO does insert himself in a lot of characters lives and influences them from the background, but precisely because of that I find him a very interesting and fleshed out character. So desperate for attention and love, even when he has it he doesn't know how to respond to it. He is also quite a charming character, which I feel you would have to be to impress the lovely Inko Midoriya. She is just too amazing, I also feel that he would be drawn to her as well because of that. Or perhaps because she bears resemblance to a certain Shimura? But again, Inko is very different to Nana, as in, she appears much softer as a character than Nana does, and I feel AFO would crave that from a person given that he wasn't taken care of and had to help his brother out and grew up in a very feral state and an incredibly hostile environment for anybody, let alone a child. Even though he does end up using people, I do think that that is because of his defense mechanism and constant living on survival mode affecting him.
AFO is also someone who doesn't want people to know the real him, his weaknesses and inner thoughts, his human side. The memories he does share with Deku and Tomura are only to traumatize them and break them up; in short: they are carefully curated.
If DFO does come into play, I feel that Tomura/Tenko will have a hand in the reveal. Perhaps helping or saving Izuku from within the vestige world? Maybe he will be able to help by seeing Izuku's memories and altering them like Deku did for him, because in the case that does end up happening, Deku will be the one needing a helping hand in coping with the reveal, and who better than the boy who that man was a father figure to as well. And in the end Deku and Tomura could also together "defeat" AFO by seeing his memories and saving the defenseless child he once was.
This is probably overthinking, but I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys. I love trying to guess what will happen and still being surprised by Horikoshi's amazing execution each time. I would love to read what you guys have to say on the topic.

I didn't actually saw the entirety of the chapter, itself.. I just scrolled through twt and saw a one single, page panel...
Which made me wanna kms (metaphorically).. but what actually happened irl is that I bawled my eyes out..
Cause... it's such a depressing scene...

They revealed Hatsumeβs parents in the latest MHA volume. Its so weird to drop them on this chapter tho but im not complaining! Cause we got more Hatsume stuff (which she barely has)
Dude but their backstory is so funny and reveals a lot on why Mei is the way she is π Also im guessing she got her quirk from her momβs side since they have the same eye structure, while her dad well idk they donβt specify his quirk
Eughhhh... Tomura Shigaraki is acctually so amazing..
He makes me so misreble yet so happy, he's so complex, he's so perfect but so messed up, he's a deep character; without it feeling forced or boring, I could read his wiki ten times and write a summary of it, I could rant about him for hours without end, I could draw 586 drawings of him, I would probably die if i couldn't consume media related to him...,..,
I've made countless playlists, art, fics, AUs, you name it!!!!!!; relating to him
I look at everyday things and go "Oh golly geez, this MUST be a shigaraki reference!!!!!!"
his character design, his psychology, his backstory, his personality, his relationships, his goals, everything..... it's all so meaningful to me..
Anyway yeah, im normal and sane about him.
Ughh the absolute agony and pure sadness I feel for every scrap of even worse angst I pick up when I deep dive into Tomura Shigaraki is just.
honestly, I actually think potential one-sided incest between AFO/Yoichi adds a really dark and intriguing layer to AFO & Tomura's relationship. I've always wondered why Tomura's hair turned white after he got AFO & why there are some panels that make him look SO much like yoichi, but if you look at it from this darker lens it. it makes a lot of sense. AFO was trying to mold Tomura into a version of Yoichi that he COULD possess and control completely. because he couldn't do that with the real yoichi, so he created his own replacement that he could possess and become one with via a fucked up mind-meld. it's really kind of deliciously dark and adds this whole horrifying undertone to the manga that makes so many things fall into place in new and terrible ways. like we knew AFO groomed tomura from such a young age BUT if you add this into the mix..... fuck. it's so twisted and it adds this really interesting dark layer to the story i think. So much about why AFO wanted to mind-meld with Tomura in the first place after he got AFO makes sense and is so much sadder (for tomura) and fucked up (for AFO) when you look at things with this extra piece thrown in. HE EVEN GAVE TOMURA HIS LAST NAME. LIKE. IT'S POSSESSION. I KNEW IT WAS ABOUT POSSESSION FROM THE START BUT NOW ITS SO MUCH SADDER AND FUCKED UP......goddamn.
like..... we already know AFO was a fucked up father figure to tomura from such a young age but when you look at it this way...... god, tomura i am so sorry

The bittersweet ending felt a lot more bitter than sweet
Like there's no way in hell they didn't keep much contact with Izuku after graduation, especially Katsuki. I simply refuse. And they πͺπ¨π―π°π³π¦ talking about Izuku's feelings at the end? ππ¦π·π¦π³ addressing how he's been feeling about everything? After Shigaraki's death, after Katsuki's short death, just his feeling for Katsuki in general, or even how he's been feeling about anything? FUCK that. This just felt rushed and didn't feel like it completed the story, let alone Izuku's character
I'll still love the series don't get me wrong, but I this ending was fucking shit dude
