Some proper ref for my slugcat OC- The Dullahan (asw as a Rainworld style test). This was fun

She has the delightful ability to launch her own head off upon taking a lethal amount of damage, leaving her body to release pheremones that attract other predators to it. Creates a great diversion for her to get out of dodge- even if it leaves her with no limbs for a bit.

Rainworld is cool and slugcats are rad therefore OC. This gal's the Dullahan, a scug based on the elysia marginata slug (that one sea slug that decapitates itself when its body is infected with parasites). Her main gimmick is that when she takes a lethal amount of damage, she can projectile launch her head off of her body- leaving the decapitated carcass to produce hormones that attract all predators in the area and take their attention firmly off of her head.

As a head, she can worm about and do not a lot, but upon eating something she'll regenerate her body to the size of a slugpup for the rest of the cycle, and after hibernating she fully regrows. (Note: she can't eject her head off her body as a slugpup, that's a once per cycle skill).

This girl queen's campaign is just about finding somewhere safe to settle down and have some pups- as it's kinda hard to do that when your only defense mechanism is destroying most of your body, and in an environment as dangerous as Rainworld, you need to use any defenses you have.

This is Pokey!!

Pokey was but one of few test subjects from an Iterator that attempted to recreate Seven Sun's Creation " Spearmaster" with some of their own changes, their headset is attached to their head and acts like a translator/ tracking device. This little pup has somehow gotten out of their creator's facility and wandered into a Slugcat colony. They can breathe underwater and create spears like Spearmaster, they can slam down on predators like Gourmand but with less damage because they are still a small pup.. which is why they semi form themselves spears on themselves and dive on their enemies back first instead!! This damages their foes and stuns them for a bit. They tried to show their idol their trick once... it didn't go well.

You get a slugcat I haven't drawn in ages! congrats! Base I used for the MSPaint screen can be found here I usually refer to this goober as Skaz or The Lanternfish.

Say hello to the Prosaic, or Pancake, they are the slugcat for a region concept me and a friend are making, as their nickname suggests, they can go flat, just like a pancake, they are too fat to glide [they couldn't glide anyways, it was never planned], they can wrap around poles and trees like the wrap-around spider, it is faster when crawling [I mean.. look at those legs], it can climb walls due to being stickier than it's relatives, they can also swim well, they have two extra food pips than hunter [7 to hibernate, 4 stored], so yeah! :D [Btw, their texture is similar to an otter or ferret, their main inspo was Paldean Clodsire]

I really love blue or purple mushrooms, especially Cortinarius Violaceus / Violent Webcup

Web is pretty unsocialised and naughty slugpup. Before joining the colony she lives with her parents in the different region. But one day, after gon for searching food, they just disappeared forever. This led to the fact that Web had to grow up very early and learn how to survive on her own. So even after being taken into the colony, she retained her independence nature. She gets very annoyed when other scugs treat her like a small defenceless baby.

Despite the fact that her parents most likely was killed, Web is still sure that they deliberately abandoned her. Therefore, it is difficult for her to start trusting others again and become friends with other scugs in colony. But at the same time Web understands, that survive alone will be very difficult for her, so she decided to stay in the colony, helping others in any way she can.

Even as a slugpup Web doing good defending herself. She’s not poisonous, but she has a thick cap on a head, working like a big helmet, so for her it’s a decent protection. Web also thinks that her spears throw ability is near to the highest level (but in fact she greatly overestimates herself), and that’s why she often sneaks out of the camp for hunting (but almost always gets caught by guards and comes back very upset)

I adore the blue-green stropharia ( @thunder-opossum ) design so much, and i love the idea of her sticky coat. So i think there will be quite possibly if some tiny scugs like magicylia ( @fauwa ) could accidentally stick to her

Lactarius Deliciosus or Saffron Milkcup - my most favourite mushroom🧡

Beautiful, tasty, crunchy - this is what lizards think about when they see Saffron. No one knows exactly what kind of slugcat he is, but for some reason he attracts more predators than any other ones. Bad for him on one hand, but good for everyone else on the other. That’s why he is always ready to take the hit and lead the danger as far away from colony as possible. Even if it means he might need to be saved afterwards😅

He didn’t have any sort of special abilities or poisons like many other slugshrooms. So he can only rely on his strength and agility. And after years of training, he really became a good guard, although his work still sometimes leaves scars on his body

Saffron also loves to cook and even has his own secret recipes. With secret ingredient… Very special ingredient…

Yeah, he uses his milk sweat for cooking. It gives dishes a richer, sweet and spicy flavor and, as he believes, makes the dishes much tastier. But, for some reason, other slugcats didn't really appreciate his idea, and now he is not allowed to cook for everyone

However, Saffron continues to cook for himself and create new recipes. In a portable pot made from a snail shell, he always carries some of his signature soup, which he is ready to share with tired and lost travelers)))
