Transformers Bumblebee - Blog Posts

Some quick Bumblebee headshots, was gonna do more, but then Jazz decided he didn’t want to be drawn. So maybe another day.

This is my very messy design process for Bumblebee. I wanted to incorporate Micheal Bay’s antenna and doorwings. Which tie into to his namesake. Plus they’re very expressive, and I feel that expressiveness suits Bee.

I read Bob Budiansky g1 profile on Bee to try and understand him better. It said that he was in espionage, which surprised me since he is usually depicted as a Scout that graduates to warrior. Interestingly his weakness on the profile was being physically frail. So a small, quick ambush fighter was born.

The thing that really got the creative juices flowing was that he has good sensors for on land and WATER reconnaissance. So here is an aquatically capable Bumblebee.

His altmode is his cybertron one from the g1 cartoon. It hovers by the use of magnets since cybertron is a metal planet, this is quite handy. The magnets are the blue circles.

Bee has vents to cool his internals. His vents have the added ability to provide propulsion for liquid based travel. On his alt mode these vents serve as his front grill and back grill, allowing him to shoot forward and backward. At speed.

These propulsion vents can be used in root mode as well they’re on the back of his calf’s, forearms, shoulders, and upper back.

His door wings are on the back of his vehicle mode where they function like the tail feathers of a bird.

Mictransformations! His alt mode has one where the ‘wing’ part of his alt mode segments into four independent parts. This gives him more mobility for uneven terrain. These can adjust to currents (land, sea, EM) while simultaneously gathering information on said currents.

Overall Bee is entirely a multi terrain information gatherer. Perfect for infiltration and espionage. Which accomplishes my design goals. Also I love the fact that his alt mode looks like both a string ray and a pupa. It’s awesome!

ANYONE KNOW WHO MADE THIS!?

I've found this as someone's pfp and thought it was so I tried finding the artist, but have so far come up empty handed. There is a signature at the bottom, but the picture is too blurry for me to figure out what it says. I think it might be cursive if that helps. Also, Google was no help. I'm mainly looking for the name of the artist, but if anyone can find the OP that'd be great ^^

I got inspired by @1244950 interpretation of Bayverse and Transformers Prime interactions with each other. Especially Bayverse Optimus with him finding out about TFP MegOp and everything. Hilarious stuff.

I'm glad that someone loves Bayverse Optimus a lot to actually take a look into his character in a different light other then just lable him as a "cold blooded sociopath". It baffles me actually.

So have my love for the Bayverse franchise. No matter how bad they are, they're the reason I'm in the Transformers Fandom.

Part 9 of the "Mute B-127 AU" comic series! I wasn't sure if a trigger warning was needed, but I figured better safe than sorry.

So, I am not sure if it's possible for a Transformer to NOT know chirolinguistics, but in this AU it's a skill you can learn. And Elita never bothered to do it. Ratchet would know it, to communicate with patients, and I think Orion and D-16 would just learn it for fun, to talk to each other :3

I struggled a lot with the wound on Bee's face. Firstly, I needed to make it look treated, and on the Transformers case I figured it would be something like welding together pieces of metal. Secondly, I used a human skull reference - and obviously that may not be accurate for Transformers. This is just the best I could do!

And about Elita's reaction - she was already shocked about Bee's voice, seeing him now, like this, also added to confusion, and guilt, and it was all too much for her. She run, to probably destroy something. Because... how can she face Bee? Why would he even want to see her? She doesn't consider herself his friend, not after what happened- and how she couldn't prevent it.

What if B-127 DID lose his voice in the movie

Been watching the movie and this thought came to me

What if… B-127 did lose his voice in the movie?

What if… it wasn’t Megatron who took his voice?

What if… Sentinel was the one who took his voice?

When B-127 and D-16 were captured by Sentinel. They were mocked at by Sentinel and when D-16 talked back to him and Sentinel was about to hurt him, Bee stepped in…

He yelled at Sentinel to stop and that he was a monster, that everyone will know what he is. A false Prime and that they will tell everyone.

Sentinel laughs at him, saying who will believe them?

Believe him? Over the mighty Sentinel Prime?

Ha, what a joke!

Bee doesn’t care, he will tell anyone and everyone no matter if they believe him. Because if someone believes him, just one. Cog less or not, someone will.

Sentinel hearing this, does realize that can happen. Even if Bee isn’t the one who does it, it could be someone of the high guard, or someone else who could find out about what Sentinel has been doing.

So… Sentinel decides to… send a message, show them what will happen if they even think about telling someone, it’s a message to everyone in that room.

Sentinel agrees with Bee, that someone could believe him or anyone else that found out, so he’ll make sure that doesn’t happen…

a precaution you could say.

Sentinel grabs B-127 by the throat raising him above the ground.

D-16, watching this happen, his rage is replaced with fear… for B-127. He yells at Sentinel,

“Stop! What you doing!! Let him go!!!”

B-127 is terrified, he’s frantically asking what Sentinel is doing as he struggles against his hold.

“I’m making sure that you or anyone else can say anything about what you know, because you’re right someone might believe you… and I can’t let that happen.”

Sentinel stabs his hand into Bee’s throat. Sparks fly everywhere as Bee lets out a blood curdling scream, begging for him to stop, his voice glitching in and out in pain.

D-16 screams at Sentinel, begging him to stop.

Before he didn’t care if he got hurt but now Bee is taking the fall for him.

D-16 didn’t want this to happen, the only reason this is happening is because Bee wanted to make sure D-16 didn’t get hurt.

And it worked, it worked all too well.

This feeling of pain feels like it will a thousand cycles… all Bee wants is for the pain to stop, this pain is nothing like anything he’s ever experienced.

Sentinel pulls out Bee’s voice box, sparks fly everywhere as he holds it in his hands.

Sentinel smirks, crushing it in his hands. Dropping B-127 to the ground.

“This, is what will happen to those who don’t know how to keep their mouth shut.”

“Bee!!! Are you okay? Bee?!”

B-127 tries to talk to D-16, but what comes out is painful noises of what used to be his voice.

“Come on Bee, say something!!”

Silence…

When D-16 first met Bee, he wished for silence…

While traveling with him to find the Matrix, he wished for silence…

When captured by the high guard, he wished for silence…

But now… all D-16 wanted was to hear his voice…

The silence he wished for was far louder than when Bee talked for hours.

The silence had never been so loud before….

So as a huge bumblebee fan I was curious if anyone knows exactly how and why he became so beloved in the franchise? I know in the original series they didn’t plan on making him a big part in the show but that changed pretty quickly.

Here my design for the Autobots that landed on Earth in the Ark, some have an earth alt mode while others have a Cybertronian alt mode. The reason for that is when they landed they all shut down (leaving vitals on of course) and when they were recovered some were able to be reconstructed with an earth mode while others weren’t as bad and just needed some heavy repairs.

I didn’t want to colour Wheeljack and Preceptor but I based both of my design off of @parhelionz Wheeljack and Preceptor designs.

For anyone who might be saying Bee is out of character in the trailer let me remind you of the batshit insane things he's done in the movies and TV shows

Drove up to the dealership parking lot as Sam was looking at cars and threw his door into the car next to him

blasted a frequency that shattered the glass on every other car in the vicinity scaring Bobby Bolivia enough to let them take it for $4000

Tried to wingman Sam by stalling his engine and pulling over to the side of the road while playing sexual healing

Threw a hissy fit about being called a crappy camero and scanned a newer model

Essentially relieved himself all over agent Simmons because he was rude

Drove to where Sam was at college and drove up onto a bush in front of the frat house where Sam was at the party before blaring the car alarm

Started going through different songs about how the “ girl” who got in with Sam was bad news and Sam was on the verge of being assaulted or cheating

Slammed what he thought was a human girls head into the dashboard before spraying what Im assuming is coolant on her because she insinuated she was going to get Sam to cheat on Mikayla

Threw himself out of a plane and used a dead Decepticon to soften his fall

Accidentally destroyed a major portion of Charlie’s house

Smeared egg all over the car of Charlie's bully before punching the roof and jumping on it crushing the car

Ran into a tree at high speed because he turned off his lights

Joined illegal street racing

Fought a modified human and lost

Used a random truck like a scooter to go after knockout because he lost his T-Cog and ended up going over a cliff

Drove off a ship and blasted a Decepticon ship in mid air

Did the dirty dancing chair thing in a paramount commercial

Joined an underground bot fighting ring to find Grimlock

Shot the tape for never gonna give you up out of his cassette player the second it started playing nearly taking Charlie’s head off

Angrily did donuts in front of the stinger prototype

Forced his steering wheel into Shanes's face when he called Bee’s alt-mode uncool

Got so angry when the stinger commercial called him old and ugly he kicked down the prototype

I’ll add more if I think of them but Bumblebee is just a tiny feral gremlin and I love him so very much. Each iteration of him is perfect

I need them to interact again :(((

I just remembered I drew this and then I remembered I also wrote something of this. Not fully done, but enjoy :)

ZENITSU bought a car.

Life was considerably peaceful after the final battle two years ago between the slayers and the demons. Most people parted their ways, moving to far away places perhaps in hope to forget the horror they faced, and most stayed around connecting with others while reminiscing of the old times together. The past was filled with blood coated blades, tears stained faces and suffering, but in there were also gaps of sweet memories filling in those dark days. Many lives were gone and they would always be remembered, but many lives were saved as well.

Tanjirou wondered what kind of life would he had if demons didn't existed in the first place; maybe he would still be selling charcoals with his family, maybe he would still be helping his mother getting water from the river and read stories to his little siblings. Reality was agonizing, but because of what had happened also lead him to befriend others whom he found to be his new family now.

He wouldn't exchanged anything for the life he had now, with his sister Nezuko and brothers-in-arms Zenitsu and Inosuke. Not one day passed without any laughter erupted from the small house in the mountains and their family bond grew stronger as years passed. The beginning was bitter and painful, but at least in this now bittersweet present, a much sweeter future seem promising.

Still, in those peaceful days, also came troubles and complexity in it from time to time. With this kind of example in front of him right now, Tanjirou could only mustered a worried smile on his face as he tilted his head at Zenitsu, whom had a rather smug and proud smile on his face. When Zenitsu used his sparrow to send a message to get down from the mountain, one would have thought it would be something more serious and not about showing a rather beaten up, dirty, yellow Volkswagen Beetle car.

" What the hell is this thing? " Inosuke was the first to break the silence, picking his nose with his pinky finger. Others had learnt that this particular unhygienic habit of his wasn't something easy to change.

Zenitsu's smile vanished. " You dumbass, this is a car! "

" Who are you calling dumbass?! "

Tanjirou got in between them before a fight break out. " Zenitsu...why did you bought a car? " 

He had to be honest with himself, he had never seen this type of car before and while modern automobile often amazed him, he had expected something like this to happen after weeks of Zenitsu whining on how it would be nice to have transportation to places especially when they went around visiting friends like Giyuu, Sanemi and Uzui who lived further away. Maybe the breaking point was when Nezuko injured herself when going over to the city with Kanao and Aoi, her ankle twisted. 

" After Nezuko-chan got injured, I thought of getting a vehicle to help getting us to far places." The yellow-haired young man turned back to Tanjirou, his smile returning back. " A brilliant idea, right? I was gathering some money to buy a car but lucky for me! I met one of the people I saved from a demon back there and she gave me this car as a gift! Isn't it tough to be a popular? " He leaned against the car and fanning himself with his hand.

" Wow, she must really be grateful to you if she gave you such gift. " Tanjirou looked into the car window, noticing the thick layer of dust and even a honeycomb with bees buzzing around it. " Er -- are you sure you weren't...maybe scammed or something? " He knew Zenitsu well enough to know that his friend could be quite easy to fall into a scammer's trap.

" Scammed? There's no way a pretty girl would scammed me! " 

Tanjirou and Inosuke gave each other a knowing glance, having enough experiences on seeing the yellow-haired boy getting tricked easily with sweet words. Zenitsu faltered slightly at their glances and shuffled his foot as he swayed his body around a little. "...Well, I did met her when I was looking around in a place that sells cars, and this car was a gift from her uncle living in the west country. She didn't want it and was about to sell it but then offered it to me with a much cheaper price than the selling cars there. So it's a win and win situation, right? "

" I think she's ungrateful. Who sells gifts from others? " Inosuke huffed, smacking the hood of the car and the rear mirror fell on the ground. " Hah! This junk is broken! You've been scammed! " 

While Zenitsu and Inosuke argued back and forth in the background, Tanjirou circled around the car, observing it. The car, to say it simply, was not in a good condition. He may be some village boy with not much knowledge of automobile, but he knew that this car was not in a condition to transport any of them anywhere. He wondered what kind of thing this car had gone through to turn it into this kind of state. Tanjirou carefully opened the door and bend down to look at the inside more closer, his nose twitching from the smell of dust, oil and...firearm? He leaned closer, his eyebrows knitting a little. There was another scent, one he found himself to be unfamiliar with. 

Before he could do anything further, Tanjirou was pulled out by Zenitsu. " -- and the two of you better stay silent about this! I don't want Nezuko-chan to know yet since it's a surprise! "

" Eh? Then when do you want to tell her? " Tanjirou looked over his shoulder.

" I am planning on fixing and cleaning this car first! "

" Ah, so you know a thing or two about automobile gears? "

A beat of silence. Zenitsu cast a nervous glance and nuzzled against Tanjirou -- an act that means that he wanted something from the eldest Kamado.

" Hmm...Tanjirou, I remember you still keeping contact with that boy you met in the swordsmith village? Kotetsu, right? He knows about gears and stuff right? "

Getting on what he was trying to say, Tanjirou snapped his fingers. " Oh! You want him to help with the fixing since he has been studying about automobile engineering? "

" Yes! Please write to him, will you Tanjirou? " Zenitsu sweetened his voice and tried to act cute and cuddly. Inosuke let out a vomiting burp in the background, staring at him in disgust.

Tanjirou glanced at the car. Kotetsu had mentioned his interest of vehicles in letters he wrote to Tanjirou, and probably even wanting to study abroad. With him having experience of fixing the mechanic Zero Yoriichi doll, Tanjirou knew that Kotetsu had the talent and spirit to accomplish his dream -- he just need a bit of pushing now and then. Still, would it be okay to request Kotetsu to fix this car?

"... I'll ask first and gets his response." Tanjirou smiled at Zenitsu, who gave a happy gasp and danced around in delight. " But, um, Zenitsu, where are you going to park the car? "

" Hmm? "

" We live up in the mountain, the hill and path are slippery and small. No cars could go up there in the route we take. We also don't have a garage to put the car in."

Another beat of silence.

The sun had set down just as the trio was finished with what supposed to be a small garage -- at least it could be referred to as that, even if it only had a roof and small space inside with nothing. It was more like a store room, to be honest. No doors though.

Thankfully they were still strong enough to cut down woods and carried heavy loads to build the small hut shack. The final battle had drained lots of their strength and caused quite permanent injuries like the blindness in one of Tanjirou's eyes, but they've exercised enough in the past two years to finally get back in shape. The hut shack was built in the forest, down the mountain, near enough for them to see if they walked down using the path they often used to get to the town.

Zenitsu waved off Tanjirou and Inosuke, telling them that they can go back home first without him. With the light up oil lamp placed on the ground, he made sure the wooden pillars and roof were strong enough to withstand any strong weather. Hopefully there wouldn't be any earthquake that could ruin the shack and damage the car. Carefully getting rid of the honeycomb and wiping the dust off on the outside, he hummed giddily, already imagining the surprise look on Nezuko when he reveal the surprise.

Clang!

Jumping in surprise at the sudden new sound, Zenitsu casted a confused look and got onto his knees, staring at the space below the car where he was sure the sound came from. A metal compartment had fallen on the ground, and he reached for the lamp to get a better lighting before noticing that the object had disappeared. Body froze, different kind of scenarios was running through his mind. His hearing was something he always trusted with, and he knew something had fallen down. Was someone in here as well with him?

He flinched and yelped, crawling backwards as his ears twitched at hearing some sort of shifting noises waving in the air. He placed a hand over his ear, eyes widening at picking up a new sort of sound he had never heard before. If he could made a resemblance out of this new sound, it probably sounded like -- like...

...like a pulse of sort. A sound that indicates something to be alive.

The Volkswagen Beetle car he bought began to move -- gears shifting and metal screeching against each other until there was no longer a car in front of the bewildered young man.

There was a length of absolute silence, yellow eyes met vibrant blue ones and only when the giant robot flinched as the rooftop grazed against his helm, did Zenitsu let out a high-pitched scream.

Was trying to try drawing things I am not that good at (machine, robots) but somehow end up with a crossover.

Ignoring inaccurate history, what if Bee landed in Japan instead. Set after the final battle so everyone is a bit weak but they still capable of kicking ass if they want to.

I swear to God, Predaking is so hard to draw 💀 so do excuse some mishap of him sksks

Also, I can't help myself but to draw the angst scene of Fluttershy and Bee arguing, although this is just expression and drawing practice

I was thinking of my younger times where I was obsessed with crossovers and at that time I was into My Little Pony, TMNT and Transformers Prime and then I remember @its-elioo crossover fics and read them and I feel like my inner child is rolling around in excitement because we finally find a well written crossover with MLP and Transformers.

Was stress relief sketching before deciding to whip out scenes that I love from her fics. The redesigns of Fluttershy and Bumblebee are hers.

I've always loved Fluttershy and Bumblebee so I adore their interactions. And adding Predaking as her new best friend? Absolutely.

Talking about Predaking, I remember that time in high school in art class; we had to do some kind of ink marking on clothes and the teacher let us pick any picture to draw of, so I chose the Predacon symbol to slap on the white shirt. I don't know where that shirt is now though.
