"jealousy is a green eyed monster" danny IS the green eyed monster. sam and tucker tease him for this; he tends to exhibit a pattern of jealousy/wishing to fit in/etc. one day jazz is too busy for him (new friend who is suspiciously little sister shaped) and ofc danny is annoyed. sam goes "wow danny, jealousy really is a green eyed monster." he responds with "I am not jealous and i am not a monster!" the next day theres a ghost terrorizing the city and the ghost is hurting the object of danny's jealousy. He gets called to crime and hes annoyed and scared and oh. he spots the faux sister about to get torn apart and he stays in the air, hovering longer than he'd like admit. she gets hurt and danny feels disgusted. He let this happen. This is his fault. He let his fucked up feelings get the better of him and now he's the monster. He kills the ghost. he doesnt thermos, he kills. He kills bloody and violent and part of him wishes that he were killing himself instead. In the aftermath of it all, the wounded girl being rushed to the hospital, he sits in the guts of the ghost. he sees jazz climbing into the ambulance and he laughs to himself. "jealousy is a green eyed monster."

Is it fluttering in your stomach? Is it that raw excitement you feel in the back of your throat? For me, it’s actually a literal tingling in my legs and just plain raw excitement. You hear a lot of “oh I got whumperflies!” But, what are they to you physically? :)

They Should Be More Than They Are

OK! so first official post on this hell sight we all love. I have absolutely no idea on how to structure a post, or wright out my thoughts soooo good luck. So for the last three days this thought has been stuck in my head, like non-stop genuinely will not let me sleep kind of stuck. The thought is this. Is Nocturn the death of the first dream to ever dreamed? because of so he should be so much more than he is in the show. If he was the first Dream to end then what was he of? Personally I think it was of stars. I think people have been staring up at that endless sky, dreaming, Wondering of the worlds beyond ours since people possessed the ability to see. So why wouldn't the first dream be of the stars? Is Undergrowth the Ghost of the first plant to die, or the collective of all plant's that have ever wilted and withered away. If so then he should be so much more than he is, If he is the first green thing to die, the first green thing to wither and decay. if so that should mean something more than it does. Is Vortex the end of the first storm to ever be? a single, incandescent point erupting into existence, a cosmic dawn that unleashed a symphony of light and sound. Raging and untameable. If so he should be so much more than he is. Is Clockwork the death of time or is he the death of the first second to ever be? he is the relentless rhythm of time, I know that he Is/Was/Will Be. the steady tick-tock that fades into silence. The hands that stand still, no longer charting a course through the hours, days, and years. centuries, millennia's and Eternity. Or is he is that first, Vast, burning second. single point of light. Before the dawn of stars, before the flow of time, only the promise of creation, a potential yet to be. If so then he should be so much more then he his.

He is Dead. Danny Fenton is Not Dead, He entered that portal and accidentally turned it on from the inside and was spat back out alive, his skin flushes, burses and scares and is not tinged blue with the touch of death, his lungs breath, his blood rushes thru his still beating heart, Danny Fenton is fourteen and reckless and a fool, But is not dead. Danny is both. Danny Is neither. He straddles the lines between, walking and rocking an a loos tightrope that should give way, snapping beneath his feet, He should not exist. It should not be POSSIBLE for him to EXIST. But... He does. And That Should Mean More Than It Does. I just feel like this should mean more than it does. That the potential that is there is somehow lost. And I understand that this is a kids show, I shouldn't be getting worked up over it but there is so many ways you could take this for an adult show that I don't really know ware to start. what are your thoughts on any of this? I...tried to make a meme and got carried away and made A Thing that is like partially unfinished because i spent like 3 hours on it and then got tired.

I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity though—recent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."

A slightly angsty Merthur fic idea/ mini fic where a magic reveal goes slightly wrong, and Merlin and Arthur are captured by bandits. Things are still raw between both of them—think of their interactions in Diamond of the Day—but they’re stuck together anyway. They’ll have to depend on each other to escape (they will, but angst first).

The bandits know that Merlin has magic and give him cold iron shackles so he can’t use it. Worse, their leader is bragging how much coin they’ll get if they hand over their new sorcerer (Merlin) to Cenred.

Merlin’s fate seems to be uncertain: even if he escapes with Arthur, Arthur could still have him arrested for magic. Or he could end up being forced to fight for Cenred. (I think it’s headcanon that known sorcerers are forced to serve Cenred in Essetir and that’s partially why Merlin had gone to Camelot in the first place.)

So, as soon as they’re alone (in a cell or tied to trees away from the bandit camp), Merlin asks Arthur to kill him. (He would rather die than serve Cenred, and he knows execution probably awaits him in Camelot anyway.)

Arthur is obviously horrified that Merlin would ask him to do that. He asks why.

Merlin doesn’t bring up that he doesn’t really see a way out of this for himself. But he answers honestly: he doesn’t want his magic to be used as a weapon. (Merlin feels no loyalty to Uther, but he has no wish to harm Camelot or anyone else. *cue Nobody’s Soldier by Hozier*)

His answer is what brings Arthur to look at him fully again—stranger and friend, sorcerer and servant. (Basically Arthur goes from not recognizing the Merlin he thought he knew, to realizing he’s the same fool he’s always known.)

They escape later, and there’s much for Arthur to relearn about his friend, but they work together to bring magic back

Frequent readers of this blog will know that I've long held that "gen" fics are often considered an afterthought in fandom, and that it's assumed that anyone reading a fic is reading it for the romance. So I thought, what do we do on Tumblr when we feel something needs more attention in fandom? We do a challenge!

My thought is we do a "Gen Fics Week", where people will either write or recommend seven gen fics for seven themes. My thought for having recommendations being acceptable submissions is that one, it will open the participation up to non-writers, and two, it will allow writers to recommend fics they already wrote that didn't get enough attention. But, of course, this would all be pointless if I were the only one doing this, so here's a poll to gauge interest.

There's a spot next to the portal, not quite under the jut of it, between where the side ends and where the filter sits on the wall. The hum of the portal and lab resonates just perfectly to be almost a lullaby, the edge of the portal's jutted out side providing a good little nestle spot for Danny to sit and lean against. Danny likes to sit there, in the rare moments when his parents aren't in the lab, and just kind of…ruminate. But what if one day they all go to a party, black out, and in the morning realize none of them is the ghost king. And the investigation begins. Eventually they figure out who left the party with the title, and what stupid game caused it. Ofc the person no longer have it (it isn't common knowledge among humans how the crown is passed, or they didn't even know they had it), so it turns into a full quest of following breadcrumbs all over the school/college/city.

Danny gives up at some point, bc he doesn't even care for the crown that much. He is dragged along by his friends, and only gets invested again once it turns the crown is/is about to get into possesion of someone who really shouldn't have it (in Dannys opinion - maybe box ghost? Or Vlad? Or Dash?)

The title of ghost king can only be passed through combat. I’ve seen fic prompts and art where defeating Danny in board games or video games or like a stupid bet count as trial by combat.

I’m proposing a crack fic where Danny and all of his friends are constantly trading places as The Ghost King, at first on accident, but then intentionally as they all find increasingly stupid ways to one-up each other.
