Villanos Headcanon:

Dr. Flug Slys was a child prodigy and quickly taken in by the local government to receive the best education to fuel his curious mind. He had access to so many books and lab materials. By the age of 12 he was already inventing small devices that could be used to help fight villians.

Flug, however, realized that morality held many geniuses back and tossed away the codes of ethics. He began doing his own tests, taking control of his own education in secret. He dissected animals and people, tested drugs he concocted. It was when he invented a true truth serum that he was finally found out.

He was sent to an asylum in hopes to help him so that he could still become the hero or heros’ assistant he was destined to be. Flug was smart, after all. He could learn to understand why ethics needed to be followed… But, it is not easy to keep a mind as genius as Flug’s locked up. He escaped, took on a new name, and hid until he found somewhere his genius wouldn’t be held back. His scientific freedom came in the form of the Black Hat Organization.

Why Casino Cups Is a SUBVERSIVE MASTERPIECE

a character who has never met his biological parents and doesn’t give A SHIT, doesn’t have romantic subplot and is possibly aroace which is great representation (Cuphead)

a character that DOES want to meet his biological parents but has motives that actually make sense with his character, is very nice but has deep seated character flaws that drive him through his internal conflict (Mugman)

neither of these “never met their parents” cases have the cliche dramatic“I CaN neVEr BE a FuLFiLleD aNd cOmPLEte PerSOn uNLesS I knOW WhO gAvE BirTH tO mEEeeEe!” motive

the Devil and King Dice aren’t one-dimensional bad guys. They have done bad things but are far from irredeemable as characters and can’t really be pegged as hero or villain. They have heavy backstories, understandable motives, and even good intentions sometimes.

I’ve seen so many Cuphead fanfics that (given that the game takes place in the 1930s) make the characters and/or undertones sexist and homophobic to make it “historically accurate” but Casino Cups just throws all that bull shtick straight out the window. A character’s gender is never made relevant or even mentioned outside of other characters using their pronouns and it is bursting with queer representation which I am so freakin grateful for.

the themes it deals with about death and moving on in life are so unique and thought provoking for a Cuphead au. I have never seen anyone make this take on the cups and their relationship with the potion, especially not with Mugman.

the lore is an absolute GOLD MINE. All Bright’s theories and headcannons about why the isle is so full of magical creatures and people with crazy powers is so intuitive that even the tiniest details from the game like light shining out of the Devil’s neck or King Dice’s green eye animations can spout rich and in-depth backstory and something new and interesting about the characters or the worldbuilding that had never even crossed my mind before. It makes these characters and the world that they live in so fun to learn about as I read the comic and always leaves me wanting more of these looney tuney byatches.

i of course have to mention Bright’s BEAUTIFUL art style. Honestly when I first saw their drawings of the cups I was a tad bit skeptical of how different they looked from their original designs in the game, but overtime I’ve grown to adore how grown up they look and their sick color schemes and card aesthetics.

I love this series so freakin much and I’m so proud of what it’s grown into and how far this religious toon town has come over the years. I can’t wait to see more now that Camodiel is taking the reigns. Remember to pack your tea, coffee, and just a little bit of whiskey and look out for soul collecting demons! I’ll see you at the casino!

I think the only person I've met in real life with 100% career satisfaction was this gal I knew who was a presenter at a children's science museum and delivered every line like she was running a WWE match. Every time you passed the room where she was giving a presentation, you'd hear something like "WHO'S READY FOR CEPHALOPODS?!?" and the kids would go absolutely nuts cheering.

I will forever be salty that when Geralt woke up at the beginning of S3: EP8, Jaskier wasn’t asleep with his head on his chest or lap. 

If I had a nickel for every time Dean had a child that was stuck in an adult body, despite being much younger. I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

after the night at the byer’s, billy and steve both sport the same bruises.

and it doesn’t make sense.

steve’s sure he didn’t get that many hits in, and even then, it wasn’t hard enough to give billy a shiner like his.

and the worst part is, he feels bad.

“Hey, man,” He starts, cornering billy after a particularly difficult basketball practice. billy was awful. he kept his shirt on, too, which was weird. steve was benched completely; he can barely see out of one eye, and the other is still swollen shut.

billy’s panting from practice, hunched over as if it hurts to breathe. facing his locker and not replying to steve.

“um,” steve continues. “i…feel bad about what happened this weekend. i was just looking out for the kids, y’know, and i didn’t mean to hit you that h-“

billy turns around, snarling. looking like a battered, cornered wild dog.

“oh fuck right off, harrington,” he spits, and shoulders his way out.

“dude,” steve says, curling his lip. “i’m trying to apologize to you, asshole.”

“i don’t need your apology,” billy replies, and it hurts a little.

“well maybe if you hadn’t been a racist asshole i wouldn’t have had to hit you in the first plac-“

billy seems even angrier.

“i am not a fucking racist, harrington,” he snarls, but it lacks the horror his voice used to hold because of the wounds on his face.

steve grimaces. “yeah, totally, you just attacked lucas because he happened to be the closest.”

billy looks around the locker room as if someone is watching him. nervous.

“it’s not because of that,” he mutters, chewing on his swollen bottom lip.

“then why?” steve presses. “because if i recall, he didn’t do a damn thing to you, billy.”

billy swallows and refuses to make eye contact.

“it’s my fucking dad, harrington. he finds out max is messing around with a black kid and all three of us get a shiner worse than mine. i couldn’t care less about what those little shits are doing, but he does.”

steve’s face softens.

“so you’re…taking the punches for max?”

“that’s a stupid way to put it.”

“i…” steve gapes. “why don’t you go to hopper or something? he could put your dad in j-“

“because, harrington, i’ve got nowhere to go and no one gives a shit anyway if a dad beats his son as discipline. but i can’t let him put a hand on max. she doesn’t deserve it. even if she’s a fucking bitch.”

billy shakes his head like he’s said something awful.

“now you know. congratulations, harrington. i spent all this time stealing your crown and now you know that i’m just a pussy whose dad beats him. have fun spreading that one around.”

billy turns to leave and steve catches him by the arm.

“i’m not going to tell anyone,” he says, and billy scoffs.

“i promise. i’m not like that anymore. like you said…turned bitch.”

billy laughs.

“so, what? you look at me like i’m a kicked puppy every time i come to school with my teeth knocked in? because i’d rather you spread rumors about me instead.”

steve shakes his head.

“i wont do that either. promise. i just…i dunno. can i help in any way?”

billy shrugs him off.

“do what you do, i guess. protect those little shits. i’m not as good with kids as you are, mama bird.”

steve flushed at that and grimaces.

“please do not ever call me that again.”

and they laugh. and it feels nice.

“hey, uh, are you doing anything this friday?” steve asks, and it feels natural.

“probably looking after max. parents like to go out a lot and leave me with her.”

“well, why don’t you and her come with me and we can catch a movie maybe? she can bring lucas and you two can patch things up?”

“are you asking me on a date, harrington?”

steve’s face gets even redder.

“no, i just meant-like y’know, it would be nice, and i could, um-“

“it’s cool. i’ll come by friday. 5:00? you get lucas, i’ll bring max.”

steve nods. “um, yeah. that sounds good.”

billy smiles softly. “good. and don’t pick some girly movie. max and i like slashers.”

“right. got it.”

“see ya, steve.”

billy nudges him before jogging off, undoubtably late to pick up max.

and steve is frozen. what started as an apology for his own moral compass turned into a date. steve’s going on a date? with a boy? no, it was just a joke. maybe. probably.

he hopes it wasn’t, though.

I've accepted that the showmakers will never treat Billy with the same love and care as Dacre or the fandom does and that's okay.

Because every time they throw him in the dumpster, I'll fish him out, hose him down, fix his hair, give him a set of clean clothes and a kiss on the cheek and send him out into my fic and art to be his sleazy hair metal self who's thirsting after the dethroned King of Hawkins, Steve "The Hair" Harrington, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me.

It was a really big missed opportunity to not explore! I thought that when we saw the abuse scene with him and his dad, they would point out how his dad is extremely racist (let’s be honest, he is). This would then lead to a deeper dive into Billy’s character, and how he was only being “racist” towards Lucas because he knew that Max would get hurt because of it. He needed to stop it before the news could get to his dad as if it didn’t matter if he saw it. But if his dad saw, he would also begin to abuse Max. Which was something he would not let happen to his little sister. This is coming from my own experiences as an older sibling, and what I already know about psychology (with it being my major). 

I think the thing that bothers me most about the racism storyline with Billy is that it’s handled so poorly, it centers Max so much, that it becomes a “not all white people” storyline. Lucas is incidental to it, really, because at the end his feelings about what happened aren’t even discussed. He never gets to talk about it. The white people “fixed” the racism for him and now it’s done forever and we never talk about it again. Only Max even knows what Billy said? Who makes a racism storyline where the whole point is to valorize white people? What kind of seventh heaven ass storyline is that?

And I understand at the end of that story not liking Billy. It couldn’t be me, because I want Billy to learn differently and be better to Lucas. I want an actual resolution. But I guess I understand if you just skate on the surface, thinking Max is good white person and Billy is Bad white person and not thinking beyond that. Because the story doesn’t ask you to.

DID JASKIER JUST GET A LOVE TRIANGLE?!

My boy is still pining over Geralt, and there have been multiple mentions of him using the word “love” in reference to Geralt. So we definitely gonna get an unrequited love thing here. 

Then there’s the prince dude (don’t remember his name, but u know the one), who is now pining over Jaskier. But Jaskier is now trying to worm out of it, but he mostly seems surprised by his affections (which is really sad, to be honest). 

My guess, from where I am now (S3: EP2), is that Jaskier is going to choose Geralt, despite knowing his it’s unrequited love. Then, during his sneaking around with the prince, he will be cautious, but will eventually let his guard down. As he warms up to (seemingly) genuine affections, and someone who is trying to be his friend first (not the other way around for once). But the prince dude will be evil, or try to harm Geralt and the crew. But I don’t think he’ll want to hurt Jaskier, as I do think he has a genuine interest in him. 

Might add to this more later, but that’s all I have rn. 

I take that all back, Geralt is being a little bitch again. Got to attached to his bard, now he’s leaving to “save him” 😒

okay, can I be one of the first ones to say that I LOVE how Geralt is actually thanking Jaskier for his help, he’s making sure to let him know that his efforts are appreciated! This is a huge step from the previous seasons, and after how the second season treated Jaskier. I will admit that I was nervous for this one, but so far I’m loving how much of a more active role Jaskier is playing in the story! 

also, Geralt calling him “Jask” actually got me squealing
