what's happened? the question played over and over, yet she never could give a proper answer. rubbing in between their brows, before taking a seat next to sammy. "a lot has happened and i'm honestly not sure where to start, but i have to tell you all of it now before raymis gets ahold of you." gabriela didn't realize that this fear had already come true. "sammy, after i sold my soul i was sent to hell. while there i was broken and not myself. plus hell isn't exactly a place that helps your mental health. anyways, i brought people's souls to another demon. this turned me into a very dark version of myself and then i met raymis...." she trailed off, trying to think of how to describe all of this to her son.
"raymis is a demon and he only wants pain and suffering. i was caught up in it all, until i met your father." tyler had changed so much for the demon. allowed her to realize that love wasn't conditional. "for so long, i thought that i was meant to suffer and raymis he kept me feeling that way. that's how he liked me best, knowing that my place was below him. he was dead but now he's back and he took your sister, he hurt mariana." tears welled in her eyes, something that seemed to be happening frequently now. this wasn't like them, to feel so powerless but there was no other way to feel when your family is in danger. "we got her back but she is going to need a lot of time to recover."
Sammy stayed lost in his conversation with the person the other side of the phone screen and only looked up to notice his mother when he she spoke. He gave her a smile and shrugged a little. Not really knowing that anything was going on to warrant any panic. "I've been out... why is everything okay?" he questioned finally as he senses a tenseness from the female. He sat himself up and watched her with expectant eyes. "What's happened?" he responded.

for the past few days, all josie did was toss and turn at night, putting her into a cycle of being constantly tired and annoyed. she could feel something in the air, it was dark and powerful. until she was sure of what that was, the siphoner would have many more sleepless nights. lizzie told her she needed to blow off some steam, go somewhere that made less wrinkles around her eyes. after the merge, she went to the stables a lot so it felt like the time to start back up again.
as she parked, she gripped the wheel and let out a deep sigh. there was so much on her mind, some things bothered her more than others. she couldn't stop thinking about the woman she met at the masquerade and how she had no idea who it might be. "come on josie, just try to relax...you got this." the pep talk wasn't really working, but she was going to try her hardest to not sink into darkness.
gabriela had little answers for the many problems that loomed above the people she loved. yet, she was going to do everything in her power to keep them safe. so when josh and aiden asked for the demon to check on blossom, they jumped at the task. before she could even knock on the door the other was aware of gabi's presence. placing their hands in the air, they surrendered before walking closer. "i am also here to ease my own mind thank you very much." shrugging, she placed her nervous hands in her jean pockets and gave a tight lipped smile. "it's not easy finding out this type of thing and well if you need to talk to anyone, i'm here."
@iknowthvnd muses: blossom &. gabi location: outside the rosza house
"did they ask you to check how i was?" blossom asked, eyes not moving from her sketchpad. she could sense who it was and there was a slight ease spreading through blossoms body. "because if they did, i'm fine. i told them that and i can tell you too." eyes looking briefly up at her. she should be grateful to know she was a banshee, that all her nightmares, the drawing of what now made sense, death scenes were apart of her but yet, it felt more isolating than before. "plus you don't have to do what my dads say. they really aren't scary at all, especially when there's a spider around.."
of course she rolled her eyes at him, because no matter how many years the two had been together, elijah still expected her to run when danger was close. that wasn't the hybrids nature, well not anymore, hayley refused to run after giving birth to hope. knowing that to make her past right, she would have to push on through and set a good example. as the years passed, it became part of her personality, being the one who stood her ground in the face of adversity. she would do it proudly, even now.
something was inside of her husband, using him like a puppet to cause destruction, but why? as elijah spoke, it sent a shiver down her spine because it wasn't his voice. it wasn't the tone of anyone she'd heard before. furrowing her brows was her only response before being thrown into a brick building, her back slamming into the hard wall. taking a deep breath was all that could be done, because soon whatever this thing was, stood above her. "oh i'm sure you'll make me suffer, isn't that your types whole deal? make others suffer instead of looking inward?" her tone was filled with sass, unable to hold it back from how much anger that sparked in her chest. allowing her face to soften, she looked into his eyes, speaking to him and not whoever was inside of him. "you are stronger than this, elijah. i know you are."
Elijah wanted nothing more than to rip his own heart out, desiccate himself. Anything to prevent what was happening. But when she spoke, his heart rate ramped up so much higher. His fear spiked. He knew she was in danger, but he didn’t know what this was. He didn’t know how to control it. He only knew he had fleeting moments. Letting go of the innocent, the mere struggle it took to meet her eyes nearly gave everything over to whatever was lingering in his body. “Hayley…” his voice is dangerous, because it’s a plea. Begging her to take off running without saying the words.
But instantaneously his shoulders relax and eyes are burning with a brightness that is nowhere near the steady soft brown of Elijah’s. The free hand snaps to her while the other settles for her throat. “Kò sa a se pou mwen kounye a. And you…. You can’t save him.” The hand at her throat lifts her so easily, a hand that had just only the night before touched her with such assured gentile. “How does it feel… to know this body, these memories will all be erased? I like this body. It’s strong.” The voice doesn’t match the face, the hiss, the accent heavy in creole twang. “And if you try to remove me… I’ll destroy it.” With that Hayley is launched clear across the street into the building made of brick, but the being inhabiting Elijah is right back on top of her. “Shall I spare you the pain of watching? Or make you suffer? Decisions, decisions….”

the moon card // upright: unconscious, illusions, intuition // reversed: confusion, fear, misinterpretation
which wolf wins? i guess it really depends, just gotta wait and see, which one's appеtite's the biggest. turns out I'm livin' in a horror film whеre I'm both the killer and the final girl. so who, who are you? -- paramore you first
for hayley to move on from everything that happened with her past, she had to focus a lot on her unconscious mind. by doing so, she was able to trust her intuition and become the person she'd always hoped to be. in motherhood, she made sure her children were aware that it is okay to dream and have an imagination. helping them become aware that what some say are illusion, are just a deeper part of your being.
since the masquerade, she has become a little bit shaken with fear. her family's safety has always come first. the hybrid is a firm believer of always and forever and will make sure to do what is often more than needed when it comes to their protection. this can often lead to confusion on hayley's part, as she will do anything in her power to make sure that her children and husband are safe. when in these hyper-aware states, she can be misrepresented as someone much crueler than she could ever be. can hayley keep her sanity while also defending her family against inadu?
gabriela didn't let go of mariana, keeping the girl in a tight embrace as tears rolled down the demons cheeks. all of the information was flooding her senses and none of it made her feel any better. for kaya to fix an injury like that, well that meant that she used her demonic powers, something that gabi understood, but felt as if something special had been snatched right out of her hands. raymis wasn't family and yet here he was making decisions as if he was always at the head of the table, typical. their fingers ran through their daughters hair softly, wanting to only provide comfort and nothing more. there would time for the difficult emotions, but right now all she felt was love. "i don't know what i would've done had he hurt you anymore than he already has. i'm so sorry, i didn't ever think he could come back but i should've at least had a back up plan."
If there was someone Marina missed dearly, it was her parents, especially her mother. Although she loved both her parents, she always felt a stronger connection to her mother. When Marina finally calmed down and realized it was her mother, she quickly embraced her in a tight hug. "It's okay, Momma," Marina reassured her mother, nodding as she listened to her speak. "I was scared, but I'm okay now. Kaya and Dad found me," she continued, her voice tinged with relief. "My leg is much better now; Kaya fixed me," Marina added excitedly, eager to share the news with her mother. As she held onto her mother, a sense of safety washed over her, and she whispered, "Don't let me go, Momma," holding onto the older woman tightly.

there was a fog that refused to lift, gabriela had tried everything possible to not let her anger and frustration burst. sitting on a rock near the shore, her knees pressed tightly to her chest. anything to provide comfort to her overgrowing worries. raymis was back, managed to kidnap and torture her daughter. to make matters worse raymis also got kaya to use her demonic powers, something that gabi had hoped to do. because it opens the floodgates and raymis was not the person to help with the task.
he took everything from her, hopes that her family could find happiness in all the chaos. fears only swirled, like how there was so much more at stake all because she wanted to have a true family. there was still so much she didn't know, how her husband had also been killed and sired to a hope or how kaya wasn't even in this realm anymore. tears filled their eyes as they finally allowed it all to come out, the sorrow, the anger, the grief.
the demon had never been this vulnerable in public, but there really is a first time for everything.
eleanor wasn't sure how she ended up here, someone at the local bookshop said that the mikaelson's were big on art. even though she should've been taking time to being used to living once more, instead she threw herself into work. with a manuscript in hand, elle made her way into the kitchen, the aroma of a large meal filled her senses, causing her to realize that she hadn't eaten much today. with wide eyes, she met charlie's gaze and shook her head softly. "no really, i'm the one intruding...umm i was told that this family is into helping the arts...and i have this book that i wanted one of you to take a look at." her tone was awkward and stiff, no matter how many times she cursed herself in her mind, the weirdness stayed.
As the first rays of morning light filtered through the windows, Charlie found himself free from the confines of the garden lockup. Filled with a newfound sense of purpose, he headed straight to the kitchen, ready to take on the day.
With a burst of energy, Charlie began to transform the space, pots and pans clanging as he dug into his culinary creations. Lost in a whirlwind of spices and flavors, he didn't notice the soft footsteps approaching him until a gentle cough broke through his concentration.
Startled, Charlie turned around, a look of surprise on his face as he met the gaze of the person behind him. "Oh, hi there," he said, a sheepish smile spreading across his face. "I didn't realize you were here."

josie was working, picking an art piece from the cathedral that was being transferred to the museum for a new exhibit. she has walked these steps for as long as she can remember, but it wasn't like they weren't special, the siphoner just had much more on her mind. his touch sent her out of her daze, meeting his gaze with a raised eyebrow, because honestly she was going to tell him off for touching her, but then he spoke and she understood. nodding her head, she took a step back to the others side and looked up at the building. taking in the way it looked as the sun hit it at just the right angle.
allowing her shoulders to relax, a smile formed on josie's lips as she looked to the other. "have you been inside?" if he was this enamored by the outside, she couldn't imagine what he would think of the rest.

He's been standing at the foot of the Cathedral for twenty minutes, gawking up in awe. Nothing sings to him like a pretty building, and this one in particular is an opera. Isaac has reread the plaque at least four times, soaking in every detail. The architect was French (he loves the French!) and died before seeing the completed structure. Isaac will enjoy it enough for the both of them, he decides, because what better way to honor the memory. A person steps into his view, then, appearing to head for the door. Isaac reaches out instinctively to stop them, lest they disrupt his view (which in fairness, hasn't changed in the last twenty minutes, but still). "Not yet," he tells them gently, but his grip is strong, "You're already missing the best part."
there was a lingering headache that wouldn't leave the demons head, no matter how much coffee or temple rubs, the ringing stayed persistent. so as they watched their son flop onto the sofa with no regard for anything, it caused their blood to boil. she'd stuff it back down though, never allowing her anger around other things be spewed at her children. however, that was before raymis had come back and kidnapped her child, tortured her child all because she decided to let love in. who would've thought what gabi considered her biggest achievements, would come back to haunt her the same way mistakes did. taking a deep breath, she walked over towards sammy, leaning against the door frame with a raised eyebrow.
"where have you been?" her tone was mixed, so many emotions were swirling through her body. it was impossible to figure out which one was meant to be felt.

Sammy had been completely oblivious to the events that had befallen new Orleans the previous evening. He had been embroiled in his own eventful noght of course his was a positive one... at least to Sammy it was. He had left jack in the room after a promise to catch him again soon and numbers exchanged and no sooner than he left a text rolled through that had led to a continuous thread of texts. The other male seemed to have enjoyed sammys company as much as Sammy did and he seemed to know all the right things to say.
He made his way back into the lock woods residence and flopped down onto a sofa in the living quarters before smiling to himself as another text flashed on his phone. It was so engrossed he hadn't realised another was with him.
the fool card // upright: innocence, new beginnings, free spirit // reversed: recklessness, taken advantage of, inconsideration
that's not right, there's a person behind those eyes. that's not right, any crack is a sign of lies. that's not cool, everybody needs a fool, i'll be your fool -- djo fool
eleanor has always held an innocence that often, gets her into trouble. still because of that trait, she also has been able to make wonderful opportunities for herself, such as, her book deal. all of that potential was cut short, when she was killed in a tragic accident. however being in new orleans, means that being dead isn't always permanent. meaning new beginnings for the un-trigged werewolf. now that she is back from the grave, she has decided to take this opportunity to live a life that she won't regret. allowing her free spirit to shine brighter.
yet, it can't all be that picture perfect. with the evil lurking the streets of new orleans it's only bound to start up eleanor's recklessness. for someone who holds such empathy it's easy for her to be taken advantage of. one of her darker traits, is that when on a mission she can become inconsiderate, is it possible that eleanor can break free of whatever inadu has in store for her?
josie's head had been in the clouds all week, her brain formulated plan after plan on how to find the mystery woman from the masquerade. still nothing of use actually came to mind, there was no way to track her by magic, because she had nothing that belonged to the other. it was beginning to feel hopeless, but she managed to press on. lizzie was alive and hope was the happiest she's ever been, sure it annoyed the siphoner. watching as people seemed to go back to normal, something she couldn't manage to do.
her facial expression must've matched each thought that passed, because a voice broke her out of her internal convo. raising an eyebrow she gave the other a soft smile. "oh i'm fine, i always forget that my face gives everything away." the only person to remind her those things, wasn't able to communicate that, not until now.

" are you okay ? "
a hybrid's hearing was both a gift and curse, especially when you're a mother who kids inherit your own loud remarks. this time she wasn't hearing something that would scar her or cause an eye roll, this sound caused panic and fear to rise in her chest, instantly using superhuman speed to the source. what she saw broke her heart, elijah stood there but there was something else, something inside him that made his actions and heart different. the change was too easy to recognize, if there was someone she knew all too well it was her husband. the two had grown in their marriage to become people who cared so deeply for each others happiness and peace, even when the world refused to give it to them. so to see this scene unfold, it caused the hybrids heart to break, yet she had no time to process any of it, because there was an innocent in danger.
taking a deep breath, she walked over towards her husband, because he was still there, fighting so desperately to stay in control. "elijah, i need you to let them go." hayley's voice stayed calm, trying to only speak to him and not whatever was possessing his body. walking closer behind elijah, she placed her fingers on his wrist, feeling his pulse and how it raced, when her eyes met his, the clear desperation caused tears to well in her eyes. "you are going to let this person go and we are going to figure out what is going on. we won't let this win okay?"
The narrow alleyways of New Orleans were drenched in shadows, the night air thick with humidity. Elijah wandered them, but not as himself. His eyes glowed with an unnatural blue hue. From a distance, someone followed, carefully. Elijah halted abruptly, his senses sharpened by the Hollow's malevolent power. He could feel the presence behind him. Inadu stirred with interest, its attention now fully on the pursuer. A twisted smile crept across Elijah's face as the Hollow spoke through him in a low, mocking tone. “Yon lòt malere ki vle mouri," it hissed in Creole, the words laced with dark amusement. “Ann ba li yon leson."
Without warning, Elijah turned, his movements fluid and predatory. The follower froze, their heart racing. The Hollow's voice, dripping with malice, echoed through the alley. "Ou kouri dèyè m'," Elijah taunted in Creole, the words carrying an edge of sadistic delight. "Kounye a ou pral soufri."
Elijah moved with inhuman speed, closing the gap between them in an instant. The follower barely had time to react before dark energy crackled around Elijah's hands, ready to strike. But deep within, Elijah fought against the Hollow's control, his willpower straining against the dark force. “Run," he managed to whisper, his voice breaking through momentarily, filled with urgency and desperation. “Get away!”

there were very few people who hadn't reacted with wide eyes and a dropped jaw as eleanor walked into the room, one of them happened to be felicity. this wasn't exactly that weird to witness when your family had done similar things for centuries. so despite all the anxious energy that filled the streets of new orleans, there was still this content energy that wasn't shocked by a person crawling out of her grave. right now, it was all that elle could handle every other type of environment overwhelmed her senses.
art was important to the gerard family, how could it not be when you've lived so many lives and seen it evolve? so as the two settled into comfortable conversation, the busy world around them began to melt. feeling as maybe the world didn't have to be as terrifying as eleanor thought. yet it couldn't be denied, the eerie feeling in the air that never left since the power went out, only to mysteriously come on. a chill ran down her spine, causing her eyes to grow wide. "sorry, i'm still adjusting to having a pulse." elle admitted, ever since coming back, she had become hyper aware of her heartbeat. the way it would quicken when someone gave her a certain look on the street. it caused her to feel vulnerable in such public places.
Felicity looked up and, upon recognizing the familiar face before her, a smile of recognition tugged at the corners of her lips. "Oh, hey there! I'm sorry, I was so zoned in I didn't even notice you," she said apologetically, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Her friend chuckled softly, a warmth in their eyes as they responded, "No worries, you looked really focused. What are you drawing this time?" they asked, leaning in to get a better look at Felicity's sketchbook.
As Felicity eagerly shared her latest project, the two friends settled into an easy conversation, the bustling energy of the coffee shop providing a comforting backdrop to their reunion. In that moment, Felicity felt grateful for the interruption that had brought them together and looked forward to the shared moments of creativity and connection that awaited them.

guilt swelled in the demon's chest as she began walking towards mariana. gabriela hadn't made it to the rescue, instead she went on a search for any of raymis's weaknesses. there were a few decent leads but they would've rather been there to rescue their daughter. shaking her head, she took let out a deep sigh. all of this was her fault even if kaya felt differently, it was gabi who struck the relationship with someone filled with so much anger and violence, but it wasn't like she had been in the right mindset at the time. meeting raymis happened to be the spark that lit the powder keg of dark energy being released from the new demon. that energy was something she tried keep from her kids, not to keep them in ignorance but simply because she was scared of looking like a monster. because well she had done some monstrous things, killed people and sent their souls to eternal damnation. no matter how much therapy and time passed, it was something that would never leave her.
gabi had done her best to not startle mariana but of course she was jumpy, the two hadn't yet spoken about what raymis did to her. "sorry baby, i didn't mean to, i just..." stumbling over their words, the demon decided to just take a seat near the peaceful lake. closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, doing everything in her power to allow the gentle noises to provide relief. "i'm just checking on you, i'm sorry i wasn't there to get you. i was trying to figure out how to make sure that bastard can never touch any of us again."
Marina sat by the tranquil lake in the park, seeking solace and trying to calm her mind from the recent events that had left her feeling unsettled. With her back turned to the water, she focused on the gentle ripples and the peaceful surroundings, willing herself to relax.
Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder, causing her to spin around in horror, a gasp escaping her lips as she jumped out of her skin. Her eyes widened in surprise as she laid eyes on the figure before her, a mixture of fright and curiosity evident in her expression.
"I-I'm sorry, d-did you need something?" Marina stammered, her words faltering as she struggled to compose herself, her gaze meeting the person who had interrupted her moment of solitude by the lake.

ever since the masquerade, gabriela began keeping tabs on each of her children's whereabouts. the only kid she couldn't find was marina, something that sent the whole family on a search. even though they didn't want kaya in such public spaces, especially with raymis back, they also couldn't say no to the the thing that kept their daughter steady. ever since she was a child, kaya thrived when given paints and crayons. dreams, nightmares, and even memories all strewn around her makeshift art room for her to create.
so despite every part of her wanting to say no, she gave in but also decided to stay close. the demon sensed something in the air, a malevolent force that arrived just before the light disappeared from the city. "it's just me babygirl, i stayed near by just incase and well looks like that was a great idea." taking out her phone, she turned on the flashlight and began looking for some candles. "let's get some supplies and head back home."

Kaya stood in front of an easel in the corner of the art gallery. As one of the artists in the previous showcase, she had an obligation to work a "service shift" as the gallery owner had called it. But basically, it just meant she had to paint live for anyone who might be browsing the gallery at the time. The place was mostly empty, though, so it was just like painting alone in her studio. No eyes, just her and the canvas.
Unfortunately, ever since unlocking her demonic prowess at the masquerade, she hadn't been able to paint like she used to. No, there had been no landscapes of sandy beaches or past friends in flower fields. The canvas in front of her, instead, featured a wolf caught aflame, the fire spreading through the same wildflowers, leaving ruin in its wake.
Just as the door chimed, letting her know that someone had entered the gallery, the lights flickered and then went out completely. She flipped the brush in her hand, holding it handle side out like a weapon. "Hello?" she called, not moving from her position. "Who's there?"
gabriela knew that asher didn't realize whose complaint he was hearing, so she decided to not add too much snark into the reply. "yeah, well last time I checked, I pay a lot of taxes to keep these lights on, so if this is problem due to that, then i'm gonna complain...." trailing off, the demon scanned the streets to notice that something wasn't right. the moon was full, but it wasn't meant to be. "but it isn't, of course it's something more than that. come on, we need to get out of here. the bayou is much safer until we know what is going on." it wasn't often gabbi was happy that their demon abilities caused their kids to become hellhounds, but tonight happened to be the first.
Asher sighed as he heard someone else complaining. "Listen, I get it. Boo, hoo all the lights are out. Go get a candle like everyone else." He told them, exasperated. "Seriously, it's like living in a town full of cry babies. Just don't set any fires I'll have to put out later, that's all I ask. Ya know, aside from the 'stop whining' bit. And play safe. Wax play is for experienced adults."

wovles were shifting on the street, as darkness covered the cobblestone paths, causing hayley to feel a tightness in her chest, glancing around, eyes narrow she attempted to find any familiar faces. the hybrid knew that the moon wasn't meant to be full, so what the hell was going on? making her way down the alleyway, she remained cautious and alert until the sound of elijah's voice sent a calming wave through her brain. "oh believe me, this walk isn't for anyone's safety but our children's." walking to his side she inched closer, always comfortable when the two of them were touching in some way. "have you seen any of them?"
It's never a good sign when the wolves just start shifting like daisies popping up from the ground. He could hear the howls and realized, with no shortness of terror, that his children were out among the rabble. As he walked the streets, eyes scanning for any sign of trouble, he paused as he approached an opening into a field where he saw some of the wolves taking off to the forest. As footsteps approached from behind, Elijah held up his hand. "If I were you, I would strongly caution any midnight strolls through the trees tonight. You may find more trouble than you bargained for."

gabriela grew up knowing that a lot of inner strength was needed to push through the harder times of their life. being a foster child required a lot of bravery, something that she does her best to teach her children as they grow. their chosen family is the main focus for them and they will not allow anyone to just come and take it. something gabbi has always held too much of, especially for a demon, is compassion. only in her darkest time after becoming a demon, did she ever possess the ability to harm others.
but, with raymis back, there is a lot of self doubt in her good qualities. because it was them who saw her at her truly darkest moments. for her, it was a time of weakness, but it wasn't seen that way with raymis. power was always the end goal and an when filled with insecurity, gabbi can be lethal.

however, josie is filled with insecurity, something that she desperately is trying to work on, but it does get in the way. for three years, she was faithless, loosing all want to really be a person in the world. something that was met with discouragement after dabbling in black magic in europe.
can josie find herself again?
eleanor never actually made it into the ball, her nerves not allowing her to go any further than the steps, but with the events that unfolded she was now thankful. once seeing everyone else run, she decided to follow. there was one place she knew to go, the magic shop that she often visited before her death, a place she hadn't been in years. yet she knew the way and stumbled in, with messy hair and labored breaths. "yeah, i saw that but hunters they attacked the ball and everyone was running and i used to come here all the time so i thought it would be safe." the woman was rambling, a nervous tick some may say, but she had grown to just consider it part of her personality. "i'm sorry, really, i just need a moment."
fear swirled in her mind, wondering if everyone was safe that she cared for. then she began to curse herself for being such a coward and running away. tears filled her eyes and she allowed her shoulders to slouch forward in sadness.

with a flick of her wrist ┈┈ one of the tomes flew off the shelf of her quaint shop on to the counter before her, its pages fluttering open under her magical command. her eyes narrowed as the door creaked open ┈┈ an unwelcome intrusion into her sanctuary. "pretty sure that sign says we're closed," she called out, her voice laced with warning. her magic ignited at her fingertips ┈┈ shimmering with a readiness to be unleashed.
she knew something was wrong, from the moment she set foot on the property, her gut was telling her that this wasn't right. so when motives were revealed, the hybrid was ready to fight for her families survival. with claws and fangs at the ready, she made her way through hunters while remaining on the search for her children. her vision was altered, the only focus being each hunters heartbeat the rest blurred. she wasn't herself anymore, something else altogether, something she knew so well and yet tried to hide away. because she wanted to be better, for her children, for the people around her. that's why she joined the faction, to make sure that klaus didn't go too far when given so much power. to make sure that her children could then have some of their own and not worry about supernatural politics.
it was a long shot, she knew that it was going to take a lot of hard work to undo centuries of damage, but she'd try with all her might to make it right. she sensed him, way before he was ever in sight, all she saw was red until she placed a hand on his shoulder. meeting his angry glare, she rolled her eyes and smirked. blood covered her white gown, hair now messy, mask ripped off by some hunter long ago. "yeah we all know how much i enjoy playing by the rules." wiping the sweat off her brow, she gave him a look. "have you seen any of the kids?"

he despised surprises, especially those he hadn't meticulously orchestrated himself or those that threatened the safety of his loved ones. it was a point of pride that he hadn't threatened or killed anyone in a considerable time. yet ┈┈ as he watched the hunter dispatch vampires with impunity, he felt that familiar ┈┈ bloodthirsty urge surge within him, questioning if he had grown too soft over the years. no, of course he hadn't. but where once his instinct would have been to attack and kill with unrestrained pleasure ┈┈ he knew this time it wasn't an option.
instead ┈┈ he moved like a specter through the chaos, navigating the maelstrom of thrown bodies and pools of crimson staining the floors and linens of tables. his eyes darted through the crowd, desperately searching for his family. their safety was his only priority. a sudden hand on his shoulder made his hybrid senses flare ┈┈ eyes shifting to a dangerous black with golden irises peeking through the inky darkness. he turned, ready to strike.
"you," he growled, his features relaxing slightly as recognition dawned, eyes returning to their normal state before turning and continuing in the direction he was headed. "rule one in survival: don't sneak up on a hybrid, you should be familiar with this should you not?"
this was so easy, the way their fingers interlocked, fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. a surge of warmth ran through her body, it being so intense that she also felt chills. she'd never felt this way before, like she was meant to be near someone and not because she needed to protect them, but because she needed to know more. for a moment, it seemed as if the two were floating on air, their bodies closer than most on the dance floor, josie's thumbs rubbed small slow circles on the sides of her waist as they swayed to the music. pure bliss, was the only way to describe the feeling that was bubbling in her chest.
a smile crept on her once pursed lips, noticing the way the others cheeks began to turn pink, or at least the part of her cheeks she could see. something which josie matched after the compliment benni gave. "thank you, i....." she was cut off, as screams began to replicate through the dance floor. looking the other in the eye, she began to speak sternly. "hey, we gotta get out of here. i saw a room with a big window in the back, everyone is going for exits so let's head that way." gripping benni's hand, she waited for a response, hoping the other would trust her.
" i won't step on your toes i promise, " benni joked with a gentle laugh. once their hands met, benni instinctively interlocking their fingers with the other's as she was moved closer. that pervious draw to the other woman seemed to only heighten as they were pulled into her orbit. as if there was some shift in benni's gravitational field and it was no longer the ground that kept her in place, but their intertwined hands. while it was an entirely knew feeling for the human, one that she would certainly investigate once it passed, for once, let herself just feel.
another soft laugh bubbled from her lips as the woman spoke once more. " my batting average isn't too shabby, " humor with the tiniest indication of deflection as the compliment brought the faintest hint of a flush to her cheeks. one that was mostly hidden under the mask resting over her features. " but, many are not as stunning as you. " even with the inability to properly see her under the mask, the comment was not hyperbole.
"i'm always ready to bolt." hayley admitted looking around the room as people went about their night with carefree attitude, but with the way her life had been, she'd never learned to settle. turns out the feeling was never wrong, her fight response was always correct when it came to these things. it was visible, only the screams could be heard at first, but then she noticed the waiters walk in some type of position before taking of their masks and bringing out hidden weapons. "and this is exactly why..." she trailed off, grabbing a knife from her small purse, before bearing her claws. turning quickly to beau, her eyes grew wide. "have you seen hope or charlie?"
To say the least, things were a little complex for him now. Navigating the world knocked his footing off as he tried to settle into the new shoes being a hybrid had put him in. More often than not, he'd withdrawn into the background until he could surely trust himself again. That was going to take time, and work. But one thing he could always trust was Hayley. So when he noticed her at the bar, looking a might bit off center and focused, his spidey-senses went off and he moved closer to her. "You look like you're ready to bolt.... something up?"
everything was going so well and had josie not been caught up in this rush of feelings, she would've been much more prepared for the other shoe to drop. first it was one scream and then soon it was followed by others, while they realized what was happening, waiters threw off their masks revealing their hunter identities. the siphoner's eyes darted from kaya to the exits, before standing at the others side. "there is an exit right there." she pointed a few feet to their right. "to use my magic i'm going to need to siphon it from you, is that okay? i won't use too much, so that you can still fight, but i can at least make sure no one hurts us." it felt so personal taking energy from another, something she'd really never discuss but since the two had just shared a soft moment, it felt proper to ask for consent.
"Oh, that's amazing," Kaya said. "I love it there. It feels almost like a safe place, like nothing bad could ever happen when you're surrounded by art. Maybe you could show me your favorite pieces some time?" Kaya asked as they continued to sway to the music. Of course, she'd noticed Josie's beauty before, but being this close to her, she felt her hands get clammy and her cheeks continue to blush no matter what was said. Or maybe that was just the hellhound in her, always on fire. "Oh, um, yes! I'm a painter actually. Mostly oil, lots of landscapes and figures. I have a piece up at Dutch Alley right now. It's actually a scene I did of Hope a few months ago."
