Damian: I'm the blood son, heir to the demon so you must listen-
Jason: Keep talking and I'll give your mom a different heir
Bruce(batblob): ( ⚆ _ ⚆ )
jason's the only person who can win in an argument against damian and nobody knows how until one day the boys get into a debate about whose plan to use for a case and damian threatens that if they don't listen to his plan and let him take the lead in an attack he'll make their lives a living hell forever and dick and tim don't know how to get him to step down until jason goes out of nowhere 'yeah ok demon brat why don't you take the lead and while you all fight i'll go have sex with your mom again how about that?'
silence for fifteen seconds. damian agrees to do jason's plan. dick and tim are fucking terrified.
Au fucking revoir Mister Prince
I like to think that thanks to Jason's death, Dick's hair became straighter and let it grew bacause he couldn't care less. He was trying to be a good brother to Tim tho, and Timmy was trying to also be a good brother but you know, he was doing the best a little kid could know.
THIS!! This theme persists throughout Tim's story. Where Bruce is unable to step away because of his trauma, guilt and lack of life outside Batman, Tim is unable to leave due to a sense of selflessness. In almost every step of the way he has a truly full civilian life waiting for him but he cannot leave Bruce and his family to drown in their grief alone. Because of what that means for them but also what it means for the city. He knows his role and has resigned to the fact that it is necessary regardless of his own needs and wants.
This is also what irks me about the "Rim is destined/likely to be a killer" characterization. While it is a really interesting concept, ignoring this incredibly selfless aspect of his motivation and replacing it with Batman's motivation is frankly wasted potential
the misinterpretation of a lonely place of dying by later retellings drives me nuts because ‘tim finds out who batman is’ is nearly not as much of a big deal as ‘tim doesnt want to be robin’ in the actual origin and it pretty much sums up whats wrong with modern tim drake. ALPOD is a tragic story of a twelve year old boy who had everything and willingly gave it up for a greater good. he is not like dick and jason who became robin to escape tragedy nor bruce who had everything and then lost it. robin was nothing but a curse he accepted to bear and he did so because of his selflessness. that selflessness is his driving rod, his smarts and physical talent are only the tools he uses to achieve his goals. he is not ‘the smart one’, he is a sacrificial lamb for a cause he became an unwilling spectator of. a twelve year old boy thought ‘people need saving, its that simple’ and put on the clothes a dying kid not much older than him wore because of nothing more than his selflessness and everyone he loved paid the price for it. he paid an even greater price for it.
Batman loves kids and is great with them
For some reason I truly fully believe that Kuina’s death wasn’t an accident. We know her dad was misogynistic and thought she would never become the world’s greatest swordsman. And that she was a skilled martial artist who could win fights against adults in the dojo with ease. We hear gossip amongst people at the funeral that she “fell down the storehouse steps apparently” which is just hearsay.
You expect me to believe such a talented young martial artist just slipped down the stairs and died?? No. I suspect foul play.
I refuse to accept that the canon is supposed to be an accident.
Bruce: Why pouting?
Clark: You had a kid and you didn't tell me.
Bruce: I had plenty of kids. You need to be more specific.
Clark: You had a kid of your own, and you didn't tell me.
Bruce: Are you making differences between bio kids and adopted kids? 'Cause I have some big news for you, alien boy.
Clark: You had a son with Talia al Ghul.
Bruce: Listen, it was an accident-
Clark: Are you telling me you just happened to get Talia al Ghul pregnant?
Bruce: You knocked up Lois!
Clark: We were engaged? She's not my arch-enemy?? I didn't keep it from you???
Bruce: Hey, cut me some slacks! I was a bit shocked! I mean, how would you react if you found out to have a secret child with Lex Luthor?!
Clark: *nervous laugh*
Bruce: ???
Clark: What an odd choice of words...
(BRB gonna use this dialogue in my Superbat WIP)
Lois: Listen Clark, I know for a fact some of the things you own can't come from a reporter's salary
Clark (didn't know how expensive some of the gifts he received were) : Well-
Lois: And I've noticed you get requested for Wayne interviews more often than you should and always right as Mr. Wayne goes on vacation
Clark (thought their excuse of "interviewing Bruce" when they had an off-world mission was genius) : Um-
Lois: Look I don't mind if you're his sugar baby or whatever. You do what you gotta do and if our home appliances conveniently get replaced right as they start showing wear and tear that'll be that
Clark (has regularly broken those appliances by mistake using his powers and replaced them with his JL collateral property damage allowance) : I'm not-
Lois: You're not disappearing to go spend time with Mr. Wayne? Or the money and gifts don't come from him?
Clark (remembering what will happen if he lets Batman's identity slip) : No, I am... And they do... You're right...
Nah bc why would Lois say that
Help! How do I get the back of Nightwing’s head to look like he’s leaning his head forward? Anything I do just makes his head look smaller 😭😭
Wip for an edit I have in my mind to this song
