I’m watching Wisteria Wand and Sword as my mindless cool down background anime rn and thus in the English dub. The main character Will’s voice actor sounds so pretty? Soft? Sweet? Real? Likable? Idk I keep zoning out, hearing his voice and zoning back in smiling. Great change from the usual fantasy MC voice.

Where can I get a full recap of the Shining Nikki plot? It’s so intriguing and I want to understand the Nikkiverse before I get super into infinity Nikki. The game’s style really isn’t for me though so it’s really hard to get through it. I can’t even find a voiced play through of it all :/

this behemoth of a comic is finally done - and just in time for zoros birthday huehue. initially i wanted to make a zolu introspective from an outsider POV and was like you know who would have really funny input on this … mihawk. and then it spiraled into seven pages of mishanks sitting and talking. i thought it would be funny if mishanks ended up doing self imposed couples therapy the day mihawk brought luffys bounty bc well. its kind of hilarious to think abt mihawk realizing shanks was onto something all those years ago after he meets zoro and luffy. like sure this new generation is batshit crazy but my god are they cooking. anyways. cheers. get some kids

One Piece Spoilers Ep 1092

The reveal that Bonney is Kuma’s daughter really re-contextualizes his first appearance in Thriller Bark for me.

A girl that looks just about his daughter’s age with the same pink hair and general attitude looks at him with unfiltered fear in her eyes. Did he see his daughter in her? Did he fear the monster he might soon become that would not hesitate to kill her? Did he wonder if his daughter would soon look at him that way too?

“If you were to go on a vacation where would you go?” He asks her as she squares up to fight him. And he sends her to what I’m sure he knows is Mihawk’s island with some trust that he is a decent man.

Just another small drop of angst in Bartholomew Kuma’s story :(

Oda always does this man he introduces some annoying pervert that’s supposed to be comedic relief except the comedy is just creep behavior. And just as I open my mouth about how I don’t like them, he hits me with the most tragic, heart wrenching, soul sucking back story I have ever seen. And it starts clicking, I see the self loathing behind every word they say, start thinking maybe the pervertedness is an act to keep the serious questions away. Maybe they will never act on these words because they don’t think themselves deserving of anything, much less love.

Then I have to look back and think wtf happened to me?? How did I get here? Why am I crying. Why am I ordering a poster of the pervert? When did I make a million posts about how much I love the pervert?

Vague spoilers for One Piece ep 968

Shanks volunteered to stay behind with Buggy instead of go to the final island with Roger cause Buggy was sick? To take care of him but also because he knows Buggy really wanted to go and Shanks being able to see it and not him would break him a little. So he stays back and nurses him??

Mind you this is post Buggy eating his devil fruit and they seem hella close so I call bullshit on Buggy’s story for why he hates Shanks.

We’ve seen Koby twice in the last several hundred episodes. First at Reverie when he’s asked whether he likes Luffy and he stutters like an idiot. Second when he’s the only person completely unaffected by Boa Hancock’s powers.

ONE PIECE SPOILERS EP 1085

I really wanted Yamato to join the strawhats at least as much as Carrot or even Vivi. I really wanted to see more of him. I hope we see Vivi again since she’s on the run now

If you see a younger sibling dying in one piece rest assured there’s an older sibling running to sacrifice themselves somewhere. You might have to wait like 10 episodes but trust the younger sibling never dies first.

I love seeing Robin and Brook bond over dark humor. Literally everyone else is really concerned but they’re having a blast

For some reason I truly fully believe that Kuina’s death wasn’t an accident. We know her dad was misogynistic and thought she would never become the world’s greatest swordsman. And that she was a skilled martial artist who could win fights against adults in the dojo with ease. We hear gossip amongst people at the funeral that she “fell down the storehouse steps apparently” which is just hearsay.

You expect me to believe such a talented young martial artist just slipped down the stairs and died?? No. I suspect foul play.

I refuse to accept that the canon is supposed to be an accident.

EP 1057

I spoke too soon. You’re telling me Sanji snuck a transponder snail into Zoro’s belly band without him noticing when bandaging him up “In case he’s dying in a ditch somewhere”.

Uses it to call him mid fight, mid existential crisis and says “we’re both going to win this fight. But afterwards if I’m not in my right mind I need you to kill me”.

Zoro is speechless for a second taken aback and then we hear through the snail that he says “…Okay. I’ll make sure I kill you myself. So you… don’t die until then” and we cut back to Zoro to see his eye shaking. The ‘don’t die until then’ was slightly more formal than the rest of the call said in a full sentence.

And we cut back to Sanji and he just says to my best translation the most casual “Sorry bout this” as they hang up.

I’m starting to see what y’all mean a little this shits driving me crazy.

ONE PIECE WANO SPOILERS EP 1038

Otama, a nobody little kid told to stay at home while the adults fight the war, barging in with nothing but her guts and unmistakable charisma and single handedly turning the tide of the entire war is such a good parallel to Luffy at Marineford.

This arc is full of such parallels to pre time skip arcs. I’ll probably yap about it fully once I’m actually done with the arc but it’s got me wanting to rewatch the last 1000 episodes.

ONE PIECE WANO SPOILERS FOR EP 1020

Sanji calling Robin for help in front of everyone is my favorite Sanji moment in this arc so far.

Like most of the fandom I have a love hate relationship with Sanji’s character because he has the potential to be a really well developed character but in many arcs ends up being a very shallow one. Coming off of Whole Cake Island which is a very strong Sanji arc, Wano felt soo lacking. His peeping gag was back, he was using the germa tech despite his conviction not to, he was insecure about Jinbei replacing him as the ‘smart’ one of the stronger strawhats. After an arc where our crew was separated and went through a lot for Sanji it felt like he was unsure of his place in the story and was revisiting all his “positions”.

Then came this villain Black Maria, who embodied and questioned the shallow aspect of his character and by extension his chivalry. She demonstrates that men like him are quick to think themselves heroes that save women from harassment and violence but internally want to inflict this harassment and violence on women as well. Sanji runs in thinking a woman might be getting harassed, beats up the guy, but when he’s escaping we see that exact scene is one of his fantasies. It’s legitimate criticism of his character. I wish it would be a learning moment. Sanji refuses to fight against women as usual and he’s put in a position where he can either die, call Robin and put his friend and a woman in danger, or fight women. This happens all the time but Sanji here makes the easy decision to cry for help.

What’s great about it is, this is an incredibly humiliating moment for a “chivalrous man”. We see a bunch of other manly men in the show react with disdain and ridicule at the fact that he would go crying for help from a woman, the opposite of “chivalry” in their eyes. Even the villain women working under Black Maria are shocked and disappointed because this doesn’t fit the “chivalrous” image. But Sanji isn’t giving up his friend, he’s not betraying her, he’s asking for help. Because he trusts her, because he knows he can rely on her. The key here being, unlike Black Maria’s expectations Sanji’s wish to protect women is not just to seem more manly and chivalrous. He would rather have the world think he’s a weak spineless coward than hit a woman. That’s in this context a rarer thing than to simply proclaim he’d rather die. It proves that his morals come from within and that he stands on them.

Robin, of course, shows up immediately, saves his ass and says “Thank you for relying on me, it made me happy”. This is what got me crying because Robin doesn’t think less of him for a second because their places have been swapped before. In water 7 and ennies lobby she tried to make the choice of dying instead of asking for help and putting her friends in danger. She saw first hand that that hurt them more than any buster call could have. It was her and Sanji on that train where she refused to accept his help and it did nothing but hurt them and delay the inevitable. She learned that day that she was worthy of being protected and that her friends would walk into a death trap for her. She was resolved to do the same. Of course it makes her happy to have the chance to do that for her crew.

On a side note, Sanji and Zoro’s views on women are often pitted against each other as “protect women” vs “view them as an equal” but this arc we saw Zoro protecting a woman that couldn’t fight (Komurasaki/Hiyori) and Sanji trusting and relying on a woman to save him in a dangerous situation.

Since we all agree that people of the Alley of Crime adore Red Hood and believe in him, I think it is time to imagine Jason in a scene similar to the one from OG Spiderman, where his identity is accidentally outted in front of crowd of people, and they all are just choose to protect him and help him out.

So maybe Gotham is facing especially nasty trouble, and vigilantes are on the receiving end this time. So maybe Jason is thrown at the dirty Alley in his part of town, wounded, with helmet flying off, and there is just a crowd of people staring as bleeds out, astonished. And Jason thinks, oh, that's the end — he can go and shoot himself, honestly, because he just failed the man rule every vigilante have: never show your face, never reveal your identity.

But people are... helping him? His eyes are half-open, breath laboured and pained, but all he hears is gentle murmuring:

'God, he is just a kid...'

'He must be younger than my son.'

'Poor child...'

He feels soft elderly hand against his cheek as someone from the crowd, an ex nurse, comes closer to bandage his injuries, while a kid, barely with the size of his helmet, brings it back, sticking out their tongue as they try to place it back on his head, to hide his face.

'It is okay,' the old woman reassures him. 'You are safe with us, son. We hadn't seen anything.'

Jason's eyes sting, because, oh.

It is his people. He loves them. He will die for them.

And they love him just as much.

He still waits for someone to out him, though. But the week ends, the villain is out of the picture, and no one says a thing. The only proof that it ever happened is civilians, who keep waving at Jason — not Red Hood, just Jason — when their paths cross somewhere in the shops or streets.

And that's how he knows that it is them; it is them, and they keep him safe as much as he keeps safe them.

I like to think that thanks to Jason's death, Dick's hair became straighter and let it grew bacause he couldn't care less. He was trying to be a good brother to Tim tho, and Timmy was trying to also be a good brother but you know, he was doing the best a little kid could know.
