Why is it so hard to come up with a backstory for my OC? I guess I will just keep drawing his cute stupid face until I have an idea.
Here doodles no. 3 and 4. Let's see what happens first, me coming up with a valid idea for his backstory or me drawing him 100 times.
I just got an idea of maybe expanding his powers to trap specific coordinates into a card and then being able to carry them around and place them somewhere else. That's quite a cool idea. (Just need to be careful to not copy Yishu's powers.)
Note: I still don't know if I like the noses in profile-view ...
Just got another idea. What if I morph that onto the OC I wanted to draw originally?
Giving him some pretty wings ...
and maybe I'll change his hair as well
I just realised I have way too much reference material collected over the last year but still not enough ...
I'm doing an art challange this month with the theme:
Future Fantasy
Figured I could draw one of my OCs again, was looking through old stuff for a specific reference but couldn't find it ... instead found something else and I have another idea. I'm simply going to recycle one of my Undertale OCs who never made it.
And I kinda came up with this:
Here the pic I found of that unused OC:
God, my artstyle back then was something else π
More training faces π Finally, I managed to draw extreme up and down angles. Next up will be left and right π
I am also playing around with light and shadow and still need to figure out how I can make the eye area. I know it's somehow bent inwards but I couldn't quite get it yet. I guess there will be no way around as I draw left and right.
(so exited to see if I could make some crazy animation stuff with that knowlege π€©)
Why does it always happen that I get carried away at some point while doodeling? Here, have a happy Izuku.
I should also try again working on my own artstlye again and just stop drawing screencaps from mha.
Ehh, whatever. Too much fun to stop π
Okay, I've changed my mind. Here you have the entire first chapter π
<β¦>
I saw one of my holograms suddenly shine white. As the light was gone again, I was only able to see a silhouette being left in a white void. I stared at the scene. Was I supposed to β¦ Should I intervene? β¦ I shouldn't. I shouldn't interact with other AUs. I laid my head on the table. It was supposed to happen that way β¦
Somehow, I still was staring at the screen. I should probably just simply ignore that, turn off the screen and continue with β¦ Yeah, I mean with whatever I'm doing right now. Not caring β¦
The dark dot left on the screen still didn't move. Why couldn't I just ignore that? It's just another AU that got destroyed. But something was different from the other ones. I couldn't quite yet figure out what it was, but there was something special about that AU. Something that dragged my attention ...
I got up, annoyed, and teleported to the AU. Maybe I could stop thinking about it if I paid that place a visit. The moment I arrived there, I was greeted by an uneasy feeling. That emptiness β¦ it was way too familiar β¦ I suppressed my upcoming memories and realised that this world had no trace of its source code anymore. It was entirely empty β¦
I clenched my fists and went to the only thing left in this AU, a boy lying unconsciously on the floor. He was wearing an orange shirt and had short curly hair. His clothes were torn and he had several cuts along his limbs. I also noticed bandages along both of his arms, which also were torn.
I started to skim his code, hoping to gather more information.
Name: Ike,
HP: 4/99,
LV: 20 β¦ 20?!
That boy was a genocider! Then it's probably no surprise that this AU looks like that. He probably destroyed it. I just wonder how he did it and if he is a threat ... Should I get rid of him? I know I didn't want to interact but β¦
Then I noticed that his HP dropped to 3. They were still sinking. Why, thou? Honestly, it shouldn't matter to me. I can just leave, he will die, as it's supposed to happen, and I don't need to worry about a possible threat. I turned around, ready to teleport back⦠but I hesitated.
I swore to myself that I did NOT want to interact with ANY AU out there. Then why did I hesitate? Was it because of the way this world reminded me of mine? I looked at him. I should just leave and pretend as if nothing happened.
His HP dropped by another point. God, why was this so hard to decide?! I clenched my fists, turning away from him. After a couple of seconds, still not being able to leave, I went back, opened up my terminal and set his HP back on 99.
After some seconds, he woke up. As he realized me standing next to him, he crawled backwards. I took a step back, preparing for him to immediately attack me, but he didn't do anything. He panicly looked left and right, "W-Where am I?! Who" He didn't finish that sentence and kept staring at me in fear.
I was confused. I expected him to attack me. He is a genocider. That's what these kinds of people do, kill everything they see until there is nothing left. But he acted more ... like a confused child. Could it be one of those cases where another soul controls him? But in that case, I should be able to see their code β¦
I relaxed a little since he didn't seem to be a direct threat β¦ at least by now. I lifted up my hands, "I'm not going to harm you, okay?" He kept staring at me for another second until he seemed at least a little calmer. He grabbed his head, "Ouch, what happened? Why does my head hurt so bad?"
As he pulled his hand back, he panicked again. It was covered in red. He started to breathe quickly. I hunched down and held him by his shoulders, "Hey, you need to calm down. It won't help that you're panicking right now! You're going to be alright, okay?" He looked at me in surprise and nodded, finally calming down again. Then I noticed that his HP dropped again to 98. Why was it still decreasing?
I let go of him, still hunched down and started to explain, "I'm afraid I don't know what happened here. I found you here as I was β¦ just passing through." The boy looked at the several cuts along his arms, "I β¦ I know what happened β¦ I guess. It's just quite blurry, but I think it comes back β¦"
Then he seemed to be thinking loudly, "I was at Waterfall watching Undyne and Papyrus train together. Then β¦ Then some monsters came panicly to us, telling us that there were some murderers running around. Undyne advised Papyrus to tell everyone else and temporarily evacuate the Underground β¦ Then I was in Snowdin. Why was I in Snowdin? β¦" He suddenly jumped up, "The Ruins! I need to go back and warn them!"
Then he fell, but I caught him, "Calm down! You need to be careful. You might feel well right now, but it's not the case. I refilled your HP but that doesn't heal your physical injuries. And if you couldn't see it by now, you're injured pretty badly." His HP dropped again. That was so peculiar. I couldn't come up with a reason for that happening. There was no such thing as a weapon stuck inside of him, so what else could be the reason?
Instead of listening to what I said, he pushed me away, "I need to warn them! Nobody else knows that they're still there!" I let him go. I was annoyed. He clearly didn't want my help. I responded angrily, "Then go ahead! Where do you even want to go now?! Everything is gone!" I stopped. My words were the exact thoughts I had, as I lost my world. I have been confused, I have been sad and I didn't know what to do back then. That boy was currently living through the same thing β¦ Just that he wasn't alone.
He stared at me with teary eyes, "What? β¦ What do you mean by that?" I didn't want to say it out directly, "Based on your reaction, I guess that you already know what I want to tell you β¦ I'm sorry." Then he stared at the floor, "N-No. That β¦ That can't be true β¦" As he started crying, I walked over and took him in my arms. I knew this awful feeling quite too well, "It's okay ..."
After he calmed down again, I smiled at him, "β¦ We'll figure something out, okay? First, we need to find out what exactly happened here. Do you want to help me with that? Because I won't be able to figure that out on my own." He wiped his last tears away, "O-Okay."
I realised that I completely forgot that he was a genocider. That boy acted too peculiar for his role. I was also confused by the story he told me. It seemed that he was getting along quite well with the others from the Underground. That didn't match his stats at allβ¦ Whatever happened, I needed to stay careful and keep that in mind. I still had no clue if he was planning something β¦ For now, the best I could do was gather more information to be able to estimate his motives β¦
I looked at him again, "By the way, you can call me Zero." He responded, "My name is Ikeβ¦" I explained, "... Just so you don't get scared, Ike, I' will now teleport us to my place, okay?" As I opened up my terminal, his eyes lightened up, "Woah, that's cool! How did you do that?" His excitement made me smile, "I'll show you later." Then I teleported us to my place.

Aaaaand that's how my two little beans met for the first time π
I really hope that I'll finish another project that I am currently working on, so I can continue with new character sheets...
Tested my new markers π
Arm and his clothes were great, I don't like the way I rendered the hair. Guess I need to try out some other techniques.
But finally I have skintones and my characters don't look like oversaturated oranges.
I honestly wanted to write this part between Chapters 1 and 2 but I figured it also works pretty well as a prologue to the story. Anyways, hope you enjoy reading π

After my AU β¦ got destroyed, I was left there as a lone survivor. I first needed a moment to realize that everything was gone. I was trapped in that white abyss that was left of my home. I tried to recreate my world by coding each part from what I remembered, but all my attempts ended in failure and growing despair. Over and over and over again ... Once I started to hear voices, I realised that I was finally going insane.
Eternities later, as I was at my lowest point and had already given up, I saw someone. At first, I thought that I was hallucinating, seeing Sans with a giant paintbrush on his back in front of me. His outfit was also completely different to what he wore before and as he introduced himself as Ink, I realized that he also acted differently. He told me that he was the guardian of the multiverse and ended up showing me what he called the doodle sphere, an accumulation of Alternate Universes, or short AUs.
I kept travelling around with Ink through several AUs and learned so much from him. He explained to me that the voices I heard were not in my head. They were the voices of the creators and he was able to hear them as well. The more AUs Ink showed me, the more my hope grew to eventually find a world that was similar to mine. I wanted to take that world and copy it to use it as a base to rebuild the one I had.
One day, as Ink and I tried to figure out which AU to visit next, I noticed that another AU that we visited not long ago, looked a little odd. We went over to investigate further and found it completely devastated. Ink explained to me with a sigh that this happened to a lot of places that he visited. I was shocked. I asked him why he was still visiting AUs since he knew he was putting them in danger. He told me that he was mostly curious, but after he said something about the creators wanting it to progress that way, I snapped. I shouted at him about how he could simply accept something terrible like that. I didn't wait for his answer and just left.
That was the last time I saw him. I stayed back in my world to avoid any other AU being dragged into trouble. Since I couldn't stand that white emptiness anymore, I created a fake room to be able to ignore it. I still kept searching with my screens for a suited AU to rebuild mine but my motivation sunk, due to constant failure. By now it just became a habit to observe other AUs. Well β¦ but everything changed, as I found that boy β¦

More redraws of MHA screencaps pt.3
lol, currently overflowing with creative ideas π
also, my sketchbook slowly but surely improves in quality π
(there is still something wrong with this drawing but I cannot figure out what exactly it is... nah, doesn't matter)

Why do I keep changing the design of my characters?!
That way I'll never be able to draw a consistent comic :(
Hello again, some time since I posted something π I know it might be a little late, but after watching the new Underverse Episode, I wanted to draw a scene and I finally found some time to draw againπ
I tried to achieve the same glowing effect as in the reference and I'm not quite sure if I managed to achieve what I wanted. I was also not sure whether to blend the background or not. (I decided to leave it that way to not ruin it π ) And now I realize that my camera made the one side of the picture lighter than the other what looks really cool π

Aaaand, here the screenshot from Underverse:
