:+: Crochet Akutagawa :+:

After a full day of crocheting (which is waaay less time then I expected) I have completed my own version of a crochet Akutagawa.

I made him from cotton, which is my usual yarn medium. I used a basic doll base and tweaked it to my preference, then made him his frilled undershirt, coat and cravat.

I must say, the hair was the hardest part of this project and I’m still not completely happy with the outcome. By the way, there’s no wire at all! He doesn’t free stand, unfortunately, but I love how the ties of his coat stick up! (And ofc I crocheted a little Rashomon as well.)

I give you… Akutagawa as Ashitaka!! (A continuation.)

I tried that scanning thing again and it actually isn’t too bad. (besides the fact that it took me nearly 30 minutes to scan bc of the high dpi lol)

(And yes, I basically just looked up a bunch of photos of Ashitaka and drew Akutagawa in his place, but the poses are iconic!!!! I typically try to draw my own poses as much as possible, but this was a must! I assure you that I did not trace in the slightest.)

Sorry it’s super late lol I was rereading one of my Wan! Volumes and came across the dance chapter. I couldn’t resist drawing Kunikida in that ridiculous pose!

I also love giving his ponytail some extra :+: life :+: it’s just so tempting!

(It’s kind of a short list, but that’s because I study names from different countries and these are the only categories I know lol)

His hair was kinda hard tbh. I was actually thinking about some how turning some of my sketches into stickers, but I suck when it comes to using a pen for drawing.

Also, I’m glad everyone seems to be liking my drawings of characters riding horses. I used to be even worse then I am now with drawing people on horses, but hopefully I can get better!

The breeds I’ve chosen are supposed to be a bit more medieval like and historically accurate.

Btw, plz don’t just pick the Friesian because they’re black. A black horse would probably suit Aku better, but just remember that other breeds can also be black lol

(Btw ignore the fact that Adalusian and Iberian horse is basically the same thing. Idk what I was thinking.)

I adore her imp form so much! But, her helmet is really hard to draw. I couldn’t imagine having to draw it in the detail they do for the manga.

Also, glad to see another Twilight Princess fan!!! Definitely my favourite Zelda. (I actually have the entire manga series now and that’s what I used for reference.)

FUN FACT: back when I was more active on Instagram, I used to draw models in ww2 uniforms a lot. I have a large repertoire of different poses and lots of photos of ww2 uniforms from different countries.

I used to draw lots of poses with different guns too! (My favourites to draw were Russian especially.)

I might post some of them here if people are interested.

I used to love sketching Ed making silly faces, but it’s been a while.

When you draw a certain character a lot, you tend to eventually be able to sketch them up without reference. Such was the case with Edward once upon a time. Unfortunately, I haven’t remembered to draw him as much anymore.

I tried sketching Prince Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke. I did a much better job with the head studies (the only thing I can do well other then horses.)

Yakul looks more like a horse tbh. The back legs look good, but those front ones… ick…

Anyway, I had fun with these. It was a little hard to try replicating the Ghibli style, but it was a good exercise. ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
