If I had a nickel for everytime Johnny Yong Bosch voiced a badass white haired character with big pecs who ends being experimented in a tube I will have two nickels...
And I wish it happens more often
This is such a specific niche of characters I love.
But Chisaki needs a maternal figure in his life as well... and considering I ship OverHawks very hard is funny imagine Nagant reaction when she see his successor and the yakuza she rescued together. She would be like "The world sure is tiny".
Outside of that she taking care of Kai shows how her primary instincs of being a protective figure are still there, which could also extent to other characters.
...
Kind of funny how Shoto with a double effect quirk is seen as some kind of miracle and god among mens, yet when Midoriya starts unlocking quirks every month people is like "oh yeah whatever".
I think that's just Horikoshi making everyone act like an idiot only for the reveal of OFA being a thing look like a big surprise, but that only makes the characters seem stupid. And there's this recurrent joke among the fandom of how the photographer dude from S4 discovered Midoriya secret after spend a few hours with him, but his friends just give his power for granted.
Cider is way smarter than them. He would notice something isn't very normal about a person with so many powers, but that also would fascinate him and what to know more, because it is a cool thing to have.
His line "I'm a man who lives for the thrill" lives in my mind now. Rent free. He is a bold but smart man.
I was wondering...what it he goes to steal smth in UA? Not sure on what he could steal but hey why not? That would be a huge blow to their egos.
Plot twist. Izumi beats him first and she is the one to invade UA and stole SMTH - it was crucial for her plans- BK tried to downplayed so hard but hates how everyone is impressed.
No idea of what he would steal, but if he and Izu converge the same day with the same plan of steal some shit and they're like "wtf are you doing here?".
They almost start fighting but then Bakugou appears and tries to capture them screaming "Die!" as usual, but then Izu and Cider join forces and humilliate BK in public in the U.A grounds. A hard hit for his ego.
That would be also a moment for fall into a spiral of love and horniness for our thiefs.
Horikoshi didn't need to make him a prettt boy.
But he did.
And I thankful for the gift.
I find funny how the anime constantly makes Shigaraki look like Lou Ferrigno in terms of muscles, in some cases his head looks like it doesn't belong to his own body:
But then you have Horikoshi drawing him like this...
Like sure, the muscles are still there but he's not this giant hulk with biceps the size of his head.
Even the manga in the first war arc doesn't have him looked like the anime does:
And I remember even the wiki copes with the idea that the surgery was supposed to give him extra muscles, but that was never stated officially and in any case his natural muscles came from the training in MVA.
Idk what's this obssesion the anime has for making all male characters buff as hell, even Dabi when canonically he's also a pipsqueak.
Deku, we know you're into the sexy italian butler. But you shouldn't grab his tits like that.
Izuku is a menace...
They are really the battle couple of MHA
Look how much Deku cares for his italian lover
If you show this to someone who doesn't read MHA or don't have much context about the story, would they guess these are two separate characters?
Lol, it would be a fun experiment.
The resemblance between Yoichi and Nine is uncanny.
One thing that is now unfair to ask is...what is Nine's name? Look hori treated him as an afterthought but his lack of origins works better than the comical twnko's origins.
Yes his family was all killed thanks to him but ...I can't help to think that scene was too ridiculous.
We never saw anyone mentioned them again, not even shig. (He remembers them in MVA and we do see the disgusting human puppet hori flay around) But that's it.
So Nine...
Im not one of those people who think a new character needs to be related to a pre stabelished one. Nine doesn't need to be a Todoroki, Shimura or hell even a lost Midoriya (hahahahahahaha as if hori would care for this family)
But ....imagine if Nine was related to Oboro, somehow, wouldn't that be interesting?
Maybe, maybe not.
Oboro's character became a thing to turns Aizawa into a better character...and fails. Kuro was sacrificed for nothing.
The thing about Shigaraki/Tenko backstory is that it feels... a bit overdramatic?
Well we can say that about his whole character, but the part of his backstory in particular when he kills his family is so exagerated for the sake of shock value that it kinda feels comical.
Horikoshi tried a bit too hard on make MVA feel like the edgier and "different" arc of the series, but the contrast in so big that I can't take it seriously.
Especially when Hori already nailed a dark tone without being super explicit or over the top.
Take the simplicity of Eri's backstory for example:
No blood, no unnecessary violence, just two panels giving a basic idea of what happened to Eri's father and yet the image of those clothes lying on the floor is much more haunting and eerie than the enterity of Shigaraki backstory.
Why Horikoshi stop being subtle with his storytelling?
...
Anyway going back to Nine real name, or the lack of one, I think it's interesting how that aspect of his character adds to the underlying theme of how AFO and Garaki dehumanize people, especially the ones that are part of their experiments.
We know very well how AFO doesn't view other human being as persons but rather objects that belong to him. This starts with his very own twin brother, which name Yoichi means something like "my first possesion".
And just like Nine, number 6 from Vigilantes was a child which whole life was modeled by AFO. They both are just numbers without a real name.
In this case the idea is presented even more explicitly because Six was a child who suffered some kind of amnesia and couldn't even view himself as a normal human with a face.
He even died as a monster without ever know if he had an identity outside being the number 6.
It's funny how you mention the idea of Nine and Shirakumo being connected somehow, as isn't the first time I've hear that.
It's interesting notice how they share this common theme about sky and clouds as part of who they are (Nine's name also is supposedly a reference to the term "cloud nine") both Nine and Oboro are individuals willing to sacrifice their own lifes for others, and ironically both of them ended being experimented by Dr Garaki.
I even have the headcanon of Kurogiri being the "Number 7" in this line of experiments were Nine and Six belong, as sort of missing link between Six and the sentient nomus.
I probably should make a post later explaining better this idea.
And yes for Horikoshi, Shirakumo was just a diposable character to make Aizawa look cooler and more edgy.
While the author of Vigilantes clearly invested a lot of effort on making Oboro a real and memorable character which complements Aizawa rather than just being an accesory. But that topic deserves it's own post as well.
P.S: I have an idea of what real name we could give to Nine, but I keep it for me at least for the moment.
"Incorrect" basically means what you said, that being ships that piss off the fun police of the fandom lol. For me there's no such thing a incorrect ships, is just fiction and people is free to enjoy whatever they want.
Anyway, I made a quick comparision between manga and anime design for Kokichi:
It's a subtle difference, but is funny how in the anime Mahito give him a 4 pack and small pecs while in the manga Muta is still a stick figure.
And what a work of art ๐ Kokichi looks hot as hell either form.
And wherever there's tension, sparks fly. Those are just the rules, right?
Of course! And your own analysis on the ship it's really on point โ๏ธ
They not only look delicious together, but the pair is surprisingly rich in themes and concepts despite their limited interactions. It even gives the chance to explore other angles for Mahito than most of his ships.
As you said this situation is clearly fucked up, and poor Kokichi might feel guilty because the first 'person' to give him the chance to experience such emotions and pleasure is Mahito. But given the chance it can also allow Kokichi to explore his own darkess desires.
I imagine something like he deeps inside would have a spin for being a bit rude to others due his own way to live all his life, but he could never do something like that to Miwa who is so sweet and pure that he would repress any kind of thinking about it.
But with Mahito? No problem!
All the opposite, Mahito would tell Kokichi during sex "Pull my hair" or "Harder!!!" so Muta can unleash all his repressed desires without any guilt about it.
Mahito may be ended up being adictive lol.
The way his CT gave kokichi the ability to enjoy the moonlight on his skin. Ughhh. I'm just imagining mahito being obsessed with kokichi's new found abilities to enjoy the body he is in.
Who knows? Maybe the first thing they could do together is take a bath in the nearest lake just being covered by the moonlight ๐ Mahito wanting to clean Kokichi of all the medical solutions and chemicals of his old bathtub, so he washes him kindly while Muta is a bit overwhelmed by all the sensations.
And thank you for take your time for answer! Glad you also liked this really obscure and unknown ship.
P.S: I also try to figure how the ship should be called. MechaHito? Is hard to came with a good name lol
Speaking of incorrect ships: there's a lot of Mahito/Junpei but not so much Mahito/Mechamaru, considering Muta is his other well know victim and they have that very sus scene in the bathtub.
Lol you have to love how the anime unlike the manga made Mahito give Kokichi a body with some nice muscle lines. Any reason in particular?
I think about this ship as some kind of "enemies with benefits" in which both can get something good from the other despite not like each other.
Kokichi never experience real pleasure obviously, and Mahito might as well have some kind of awakening after repair Muta's body. A kind of "usually I despise humans, but you're my creation and feel different somehow ๐" mentality on Mahito part.
So instead of fight to death, Mahito give Kokichi an offer of experience each others bodies and he ends up accepting but full of doubts. Inside he wants to live and reunite with his friends and gf, but if the strategy works he might get a good experience out of it.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by incorrect ships, I'm guessing you're referring to the ships dubbed wrong-bad-wrong by the puritanical fandom goers because otherwise I don't subscribe to an idea of correct/incorrect ships. (This got rambly but I wasn't sure what you meant by it, and I'm genuinely perplexed)
But you've opened my eyes! I know that junpei/mahito is an obvious ship even though there's very few fic but I never even thought of mahito/kokichi. They are so delicious!
I haven't paid much attention to the changes in kokichi's muscles in the anime and manga when idle transfiguration gives him a body, so I'll take your word for it lol.
I absolutely LOVE the enemies with benefits thing you pointed out!! Idk if you can tell but I'm very excited about this ship. Firstly because it's something new to me, I never thought of them. So thank you for showing me the way, lol. And secondly because they are just so so soooo good together!! Kokichi striking that deal with kenjaku and mahito knowing what he is signing up for, and then getting his body and honestly that battle with mahito was a very tense watch. And a read! And wherever there's tension, sparks fly. Those are just the rules, right?
I love that dynamic of being something because someone else shaped you into it and the mutual obsession rising from that. I absolutely adore mahito being obsessed with his creation. Something that he didn't distort and twist into something abhorrent, something that is whole. The first thing he created that didn't put misery out into the world. The way his CT gave kokichi the ability to enjoy the moonlight on his skin. Ughhh. I'm just imagining mahito being obsessed with kokichi's new found abilities to enjoy the body he is in. Zeroing in on the sensations and the pleasures that kokichi can feel for the first time. Feeling some kinda way about being the one who made it possible for him to feel them. It's all so goooood and fucked up. I love it.
Thank you so much for putting this on my radar! I'm going to be thinking of them for a long looooong time.
