So this story is inspired by gglitch1dd’s post about Small town My Hero Academia. Honestly go read her story Sweet-bee if you like Kiribaku x reader; it’s amazing! I’ve reread it so many times.
So my story is loosely inspired (I made some changes but barely) and involves an OC. After reading her post and remembering the first season of Once upon a Time, I couldn’t get the idea out of my head and decided to write it. Very much just for fun and considering continuing it; I just don’t have the ending figured out.
Mostly fluff. Let me know if there is anything; triggers or errors.
Italics are thoughts.
Enjoy!
Summary: an unknown quirk sends all of UA and some others to a small town... in an alternate reality! No memories of their real lives and no quirks. A calm, peaceful life where everything is perfect. A bit too perfect.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A new life?
Lizelle holds Eri close under the desk as a villain rant and raves through the school’s PA system. The red feather necklace around Lizelle’s neck shake as Hawks sends his feathers throughout the building to find the villain.
Class 1A and 1B had gathered for a joint training session with most of their mentors also there to see the progress. Lizelle was there to keep watch over the students’ emotional states as they go through the course because of her quirk ‘Colourful Emotions’.
While she is Hawks’ personal assistant, she is a family friend of Present Mic and had been living with him and Aizawa since she was a teenager until she was old enough to care for herself. She had become close to the 1A class and Eri. And ever since working with Hawks, Mirko had become a good friend.
Everybody had gathered for the training session when something shook the building and a bunch of goons invaded the premises. Lizelle had grabbed Eri who was sitting with her and took cover under Present Mic’s desk while he went down from the presenter booth to join the fight. Then who they assume is the main boss started making threats over the announcement system.
Lizelle focused on the villain’s voice to hear the last part of his speech. He chuckled darkly:
“Aren’t you heroes tired of it all? Don’t you wanna live a normal life…?”
Lizelle gasped as she noticed a strange mist filling the room and everywhere else.
“… and leave the rest of us alone?”
Lizelle peeked over the over desk to notice all the heroes starting to faint. Her necklace stills and she knows it got to Hawks as well. She coughed trying to get the mist out. She heard Eri cough as well.
“Eri-berry, hold your breath.”
Both she and Eri hold their breaths but then a blinding light fills everybody’s vision before it went pitch black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lizelle groaned as she slowly opened her eyes. She looked around the bedroom while reaching for her phone to shut off her alarm. She yawns, stretches and runs a brush through her long golden blonde hair before making her way out, down the stairs and into the kitchen where Hizashi Yamada otherwise known by his radio show personality, Present Mic is busy cooking breakfast.
“Morning Uncle Zashi.”
“Morning Lizzy. How did you sleep?”
“Pretty well. One thing is for sure. The bed was not the reason for Shinso’s insomnia.”
Hizashi chuckled: “Glad to hear it’s not that at least.”
She smiled as she sat down.
“Thanks for letting me stay in Hitoshi’s old room for now.”
Hizashi smiled at her from the stove: “No problem. You know you are like my own daughter. I’ll always help.”
Lizelle smiled: “Why couldn’t you be my real dad?”
“Then I would to have had you when I was 9.”
“Well you were a flirt since you were young if Aunt Nem is to be believed.”
The two laugh at that.
“Yet I met my soulmate in high school and won him over,” He pressed a hand to his heart.
“More like you didn’t leave me alone.”
The two turn to see Shouta Aizawa walk into the kitchen carrying a very sleepy Eri.
“You didn’t exactly try to get rid of me. C’mon admit it, deep down you liked me.”
Aizawa shakes his head at his husband. He put Eri adjacent to Lizelle’s left before walking to kiss Hizashi.
“Zashi, the pancakes.”
Hizashi looked over to see the pancakes starting to look a little too brown. He quickly moved the finished pancake to a plate. Lizelle smiled at the cute scene before turning her head to the tired girl rubbing her eyes.
She gave a quick tickle to the little girl’s sides: “Morning Eri-berry.”
Eri gave a small shriek of laughter. Lizelle giggled.
“Morning Uncle Shou.”
“Morning Lizzy,” he sits down adjacent to Lizelle’s right.
Hizashi places the food down and greets his daughter with a kiss to her head.
“So what is your plan for today?” Aizawa asks Lizelle as they start to eat.
Lizelle shrugs: “Explore the town, look at living places, look for a job, maybe even visit Shinso on his break.”
“Y’know, if you can’t find anything, you are more than welcome to come help me or Shouta at our jobs.”
“Thanks Uncle Zashi but I don’t see how much help I’ll be at the Sheriff or Radio station. Thanks for the offer; I’ll definitely keep it as a back up.”
“Daddy, Papa, can I show Lizzy around town?” Eri asks with her mouth full pancakes.
“Eri, swallow before you talk,” Aizawa gently said while Hizashi jokingly presses her chin up, “I don’t know.”
“Oh come one Dadzawa,” Lizelle grinned, “Eri knows the town better than me and I can keep her safe.”
Aizawa sighed but looked doubtful.
“Babe this whole town knows Eri is the sheriff’s daughter and not to mess with her. Eri will actually keep Lizelle safe, especially if the League decide to be annoying today. They know not to mess with your family,” Hizashi reasons, “Besides Lizelle is right. Eri knows the town better and this way Lizelle won’t get lost.”
Aizawa sighs again, knowing Hizashi is right and that he is fighting a losing battle.
“Fine, you can show Lizzy around.”
“Thank you, Daddy.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll keep each other safe,” Lizelle gave the little girl a side squeeze.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eri kisses and hugs her dads goodbye.
“See you two later.” Hizashi waves.
“Be safe,” Aizawa calls after them.
“We will,” Eri giggles.
“Bye Dadzawa. Bye Papa Mic.”
“Bye girls.”
The two girls set off down the street to the right in the direction of what looked like a school. Currently mostly empty since it was Saturday. Maybe some overtime teachers or sport teams, other than that a ghost place.
“That’s my school!” Eri excitedly points.
“Oh really? Remind me what grade are you in?”
“Grade 2. Mr. Togata is my teacher.”
“Wow you’re getting big,” Lizelle squeezes Eri’s left hand.
As they turn the corner, Eri spots something that makes her squeal. Lizelle tightens her grips when she feels the little girl wants to run. Standing outside the gates are two men who turn in their direction upon hearing Eri. Seeing Eri, the two men wave. Lizelle makes sure they get safely across the street. Only then does she let the little girl run to them.
“Hi Eri!”
The tall blond picks up the girl as she happily squeals.
“Hi Mr. Togata! Hi Mr. Deku!”
The green haired man next to them gently pats Eri on the head: “Hi Eri.”
The man Eri calls Deku turns to Lizelle. He greets her with small nervous smile.
“Hi I’m Izuku Midoriya, understudy to Mayor All Might.”
Lizelle shakes his hand.
“So Deku?” She asks curiously.
He shrugged: “A mean nickname I was given when I was younger. I’m trying to put a more positive spin on it.”
Lizelle nodded in understanding: “I get that.”
The taller blond shook her hand: “Hi My name is Mirio Togata. I’m Eri’s teacher.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Lizelle. I’m a family friend of Hizashi Yamada. I just moved to town and I’m staying with them till I find a job and my own place. Eri is busy showing me around town.”
“Well welcome to Yuuie,” Mirio says with smile.
“And if you’re looking for a job just to keep busy, there is always the Midnight and Fatgum diner/bar and B&B and the library are always looking for volunteers,” Izuku suggest, “If it’s more a specific profession, Yuuie has a lot of businesses. Sure you’ll find something.”
Lizelle nods gratefully: “Thank you. I shall look into those places,” she looks to Eri, “C’mon sweetie we still got a lot to see. Maybe we can even go visit your brother if we are there on his break.”
“Yay!” Mirio gently puts her down.
She grabs Lizelle’s hand again and they continue walking down the street waving goodbye to Mirio and Izuku.
Walking across the street they pass a park and start passing some houses. About halfway Eri points out the Mayor’s House with trees surrounding it. They cross the street and tree line into the second main street where by the looks of it, is the most action. People walk up and down, doorbells constantly clinging as people enter and leave.
Eri quickly tugs Lizelle to cross to the right of the street while throwing slightly nervous looks to the biggest building on the corner of the left block.
“Everything okay Eri-berry?”
“Daddy always says to avoid that place and be careful here.”
Lizelle looks at the building. Two shops occupy it; Shigaraki’s bar and Dabi’s tattoo parlour. It’s a little rundown but otherwise okay. Lizelle can’t help the negative feeling that reaches her, making her feel on edge. The place definitely looks like trouble. Or at least definitely not the place for a little girl to be.
A man walks out of the parlour. He leans against the outside wall and lights a cigarette. She can only see the tattoos under his eyes, jaw, neck and wrists but Lizelle is positive he is probably covered in them as well as multiple piercings.
Was the flame from his lighter blue?
He pulls the cigarette from his mouth and releases a puff of smoke. Through the smoke he catches Lizelle’s eye. He looks her up and down with his piercing blue eyes before giving a nod. Lizelle gives friendly smile in return and then focuses back on helping Eri across the street.
“New plaything?” a female voice asks from the door.
Dabi turns his head to the blond girl: “Nah that Aizawa brat was with her. Unless we want the Sheriff to strangle us we better not mess with what’s his.”
“Aw, not fair,” Toga complains. Dabi simply shakes his head.
At the corner Eri points to a building on the left block behind the building on the street.
“There’s Dadzawa’s work…”
Then she points to the slightly L-shaped building diagonally in front of the Sheriff’s Station.
“… and there’s Papa Mic’s.”
Lizelle nods.
They past the Post Office, an apartment building behind a small park and past another building they reach the Midnight and Fatgum diner/bar.
“Wanna a milkshake, Eri-berry?”
Eri’s eyes sparkle as she looks up at her: “Can we?”
“Sure. C’mon let’s go in.”
The bell rings as the two enter. They walk up to the counter and Lizelle helps Eri up. A beautiful girl with long blue hair comes walking out from behind.
“Nejire!”
“There’s my little berry. Your daddy called and said I’m off babysitting duty today,” the girl turned to Lizelle, “Hi, I’m Neijre Hado, waitress and the occasional babysitter for this little angel.”
“She is also the town’s resident beauty queen,” a large man comes walking out from the kitchen, almost squatting to get through the doorways.
“And this is Taishiro Toyomitsu otherwise known as Fatgum, best cook in Yuuie,” Nejire giggled, tapping the man’s belly, “And he knows it.”
The man gives a jolly laugh.
Lizelle smiled, enjoying the wholesome energy in this place.
“I’m Lizelle, I’m new and a family friend of this little one’s family.”
“Welcome to Yuuie Miss. We hope you enjoy your stay here,” Fatgum smiles warmly.
“Thank you,” she smiles back. He feels like an uncle.
“So what can we get for you?”
“I’d like a chocolate milkshake and some fries. You Eri?”
“An apple pie and strawberry milkshake please.”
Nejire winked at the two: “You got it.”
Fatgum moves back into kitchen and Nejire cuts out a slice of apple pie for Eri. She then hands a small A6 card to Lizelle, full of numbers.
Upon Lizelle’s confused look, Nejire explains: “Numbers of the business around here. If you are ever in need of a handyman the mechanics shop is the place to call and ask for Eijiro Kirishima. That mountain of man can fix anything.”
Lizelle smirked: “Mountain, huh?”
“Well he is Fatgum’s nephew.”
“Ah, that explains it.”
Nejire giggled: “He works at the shop with his cousin Tetsutetsu and it is owned by Mei Hatsume. That girl is genius with machines and Tetsu seems like he bend steel, almost has if…”
“He is steel himself,” Lizelle gets a weird look on her face before shaking her head. She lifts the page, “The others?”
“Right. The mechanics is behind the sheriff station by the way. Right next to us is the vet/pet shelter run by Tsuyu Asui and Koji Koda. Then across from us is Ojiro’s dojo and next to that we have our Electrician Denki Kaminari. He’s good but don’t worry if he shocks himself. It happens from time to time.”
At Lizelle concerned look Nejire quickly adds: “He’s fine. He is practically Pikachu by now.”
“As long as he is not Pichu,” Lizelle shakes her head.
Nejire laughs, tipping her head: “Well…”
Shaking her head, she continues: “I’m assuming you walked past the school? And of course where the sheriff and radio station is?”
Lizelle nods: “Eri also pointed out the Mayor’s house to me. And the bar and tattoo parlour I was warned from.”
Lizelle gently pats Eri on the head.
Nejire nodded with a tight mouth: “Yeah the league… aren’t bad but they are trouble. So best to try stay away as much as you can.”
Lizelle raises and eyebrow: “The League?”
“The League of Delinquents.”
“I saw a man with tattoos and piercings smoking outside the tattoo place.”
“That’s Dabi. He seems chill, but you don’t want to piss him off. He has an affinity for arson. The one you really have to careful around is Shigaraki. He runs that place and the league. Also Toga; she’s a blonde girl with sharp teeth. She has a weird fascination for blood and sometimes gets a little stab happy. So just be careful.”
“And Shigaraki?”
Nejire shudders a little: “Trust me you’ll know. He just seems dangerous.”
Lizelle nods. Geez you guys go on about these guys like their villains.
Nejire puts back on her smile: “Anyways, we also have Rikido Sato’s bakery, Hanta Sero’s restaurant, Tamaki Amajiki’s flower shop; that’s Fatgum’s adopted son and Mirio’s Boyfriend.”
Lizelle raises her eyebrow with a smile: “Ok cute.”
Nejire giggled: “And both are my boyfriends.”
Lizelle gasped: “Lucky you! Kinda jealous. Of you and them.”
They both laugh.
“You?” Nejire bends her hand at the wrist in a silent question.
“I’m…” Lizelle snaps her fingers into a finger gun/thumbs up and peace signs.
“Ah,” Nejire nods in understanding, “Ok then there are the builders (that are behind Denki and Ojiro’s places), the library’s number, if you want to shop wood personally the lumberjack office; ask for Rumi. She is the boss and she is one the people who knows the woods the best. Mina Ashido’s hair salon, Yuga Aoyama’s Twinkling Styling Palace; it’s mostly a clothing shop but Mina, Toru Hagukure and Aoyama together are a styling dream team. They helped me with the beauty pageants. We also have the Yaoyorozu’s Properties, the gym, the Bank of Iida, the Todoroki Supermarket, and Yuuie Hospital and of course the town hall.”
Nejire juts her thumb to Eri: “Your little tour guide here knows where everything is.”
Lizelle smirks at Eri: “And why do you know everything?”
Eri giggled, finishing up her milkshake.
Nejire smiled: “Sheriff Aizawa wanted to make sure if anything happened, Eri knows all the safe places to go to.”
Lizelle nods with a small smile: “That sounds like Dadzawa.”
As the two finishes up, Lizelle pulls out her wallet. Fatgum quickly pops through the window.
“Uh uh, It’s on the house.”
“You sure?”
“Of course, especially for my favourite customer,” He winks at Eri with broad grin.
Lizelle grins: “Thanks for everything. The food was delicious. And thanks for all the info Nejire.”
The blue haired waitress waves at her as they exit.
Eri points out Ojiro’s dojo and Denki’s Electrics across the street and the vet next door to the diner. They cross the town square over to the library with a clock tower on top of the corner of the building. Across the street at the corner was Sato’s Bakery and next to it Sero’s Restaurant. Next to them was Mina’s hair salon and connected to it Aoyama’s Twinkling Styling Palace.
Lizelle giggled at the name.
Next to the library was Yaoyorozu’s Properties and on the corner Amajiki’s Flower shop.
“Wanna stop by the library real quick? I want to ask the librarian something.”
Eri nodded and the two headed in. Lizelle sighed in relief at coolness compared to beating sun outside. There was a little dark haired girl with purple eyes a few years older than Eri sitting in a dark corner reading by a low light. A dark haired man with Goth makeup came from the office behind the desk. Eri waved to him.
She gave a whispered greeting: “Hi Tokoyami.”
“Hi Eri,” He whispered back in a pretty deep voice.
Huh this man’s makeup makes him look like crow or raven. Cool.
“Hi, I’m Fumikage Tokoyami, how can I help?”
“Oh hi! I’m Lizelle, I’m new to town. I was wondering with there are any positions open here.”
Tokoyami shook his head: “Not at the moment, but if you don’t mind working part time, we always accept volunteers. On certain days we are busier, especially when exam season comes.”
Lizelle nods with a smile: “Yeah I don’t mind.”
Lizelle gives Tokoyami her contact information. Lizelle waves Eri over for them to leave. Lunch is soon if they want to make it on time for Shinso’s break. Tokoyami hands Eri an apple with small smile. The two wave goodbye. As they leave they hear Tokoyami talk to the other girl:
“Shadow, do not read by such a low light. It is not good for your eyes.”
“But I don’t like the bright light!”
Lizelle smiled as the door closes. Must be brother and sister.
Lizelle and Eri continue down the street. They stop outside Tamaki’s flower shop to smell some of the flowers outside. Lizelle looked at bouquet of white and red roses with a smile on her face. She always liked the beauty more than the smell. Mostly flowers smell like plants to her. There are very few flowers’ smells she actually likes.
Lizelle looks from smiling at Eri to through the window when she spots movement from her peripheral vision. Just in time to see an indigo haired man duck out of sight. Lizelle tilts her head to side. He peaks around but ducks back upon noticing she is still looking. Lizelle gives a small smile at the man’s shyness. She offers him small wave before ushering Eri along.
They turn right to the main street. Then a turn left to walk to the hospital. Walking in, up to the front desk, Lizelle asks if Dr. Hitoshi Shinso is on his break. The woman about to ask the reason why she wants to see him, spots Eri. She smiles and waves the two on ahead while giving directions to his office. Eri leads the way.
Knocking on the door, Lizelle hears Shinso’s tired: “Come in.”
“Hey doc, got time for lunch?”
Shinso looks up and smirks: “Hey Lizzy. Hey Eri!”
Eri runs up to him and he easily picks her.
“Yeah sure lunch. We can do that.”
The three sit down in the cafeteria.
“So you enjoying your time here so far?” Shinso asks around the bad cup of coffee.
“Oh yeah this place is great. Everyone is so friendly. Well mostly everybody.”
Shinso frowns, confused before he asks concerned: “You didn’t run in to the league did you? Dadzawa would have their heads.”
Lizelle shakes her head: “Not really. Just saw one of the members. Nothing happened.”
“Ok good. How’s the living situation?”
“Pretty good. Thanks for okaying the use of your room.”
“Sure.”
“Other than that, it is nice. But I would like my own place.”
Shinso gets a thoughtful look: “And a roommate?”
“I wouldn’t mind a roommate. Helps with rent and stuff.”
“How about...” Shinso puts down his cup, “You move in with me?”
“At your apartment?”
“Yeah the apartment building next to the Post office. I have a spare room/ loft. Also I’m barely home because of the hours at the hospital. It will be more like your apartment and I crash there.”
Lizelle giggles: “I know you can’t help it but you should stop overworking yourself.”
He shrugs: “So what do you say? Once you get a job you can start helping with rent if you want to, but you don’t need to. I make more than enough with a doctor salary. Besides I can’t help much cleaning wise and stuff, so the least I can do is pay the rent.”
Lizelle sighs: “Hitoshi I can’t expect you...”
Shinso holds up his hand: “I want to. I have no problem paying the rent but it’s going to waste because I’m barely there. So whaddya say?”
Lizelle thinks about: “I mean free place, not too far from Eri-them, nearby possible work place...”
Shinso smiled and sat up to reach into his pocket.
Lizelle looks up as she makes her decision: “Ok sure I would love to. Oh!”
She backs a little when she found keys in front of her face.
“Here are the keys to the apartment building and my flat. Go take a look at it. If your decision is completely final we can go make you a copy.”
Lizelle takes the keys and smiles gratefully at Shinso: “Thank you. I really appreciate this.”
Shinso just smirks: “It’s not a problem. You’re family. If we switched places you would have done the same.”
Lizelle nods: “True.”
When his break was over, Lizelle and Eri say goodbye and head back. They stop by the park for a bit while Eri plays with some of her friends.
Lizelle stands at the edge to watch Eri when a siren rings through the air. Lizelle jumps and looks behind her to see Aizawa climb out of the sheriff car.
“What’s with the siren?”
“Easy way to get your attention.”
Lizelle smirks: “Well you got it. Here to arrest me officer?”
Aizawa chuckles: “So how is everything?”
“Great. Eri showed me around, I have places for possible jobs and I have a place to live.”
Aizawa raises an eyebrow.
“Shinso offered me his flat because he is barely there because of his hours and the rent is technically going to waste.”
Aizawa sighs and shakes his head: “That boy works hard. Too hard sometimes. I told him he is more than welcome to stay at home. He didn’t listen.”
“Sometimes people gotta learn by bumping their own heads even when you wanna protect them.”
“Unfortunately. So his apartment?”
“Mhm. He gave me the keys to go check it out. Then we will make my own copy.”
Aizawa nods: “Alright. I can take Eri off your hands if you want.”
Lizelle shakes her head: “Nah that’s okay. I’m good with taking care of Eri for the rest of day.”
“You sure?”
Lizelle nods.
“Ok. Well I got to get back to work. Eri!”
Eri runs over with excitement. The two hug.
“I’ll see you two later tonight.”
“Bye Daddy!” “Bye Dadzawa!”
Lizelle let’s Eri play for a little while longer before they head for the apartment.
Outside parked on the street was a gold motorcycle with red wings and the words ‘Fierce Wings’ on the side. Lizelle nodded impressed before opening up the front door and letting Eri through.
At the mailboxes in the wall stand a man a couple inches taller than Lizelle with feathery blond hair. He wore a tan jacket with two red wings printed on the back, continuing onto the sleeves. Considering he was putting packages and letters into the mailboxes with a big bag slung across his body, Lizelle assumed he is the mailman and that the bike outside is his.
Lizelle started up the stairs.
“Hi Mr. Hawks,” Eri greets the man.
He turns slightly to greet her, only slightly seeing Lizelle before she disappears up the stairs.
Hawks blinks slightly before shrugging.
Eri joins Lizelle as they go to the third floor. 3A, here it is.
She unlocks the door and lets Eri in first. It was small but decently sized with a lot of woodwork. Lizelle snorted. This is very cottage-core. Too much for you, Shinso. But the rest of the apartment was more Shinso. Minimally decorated with just the basic essentials aka – does anybody even actually live here? Oh and coffee.
The place was in good condition from just a brief look, just a bit dusty and dirty, Lizelle noted. Eri showed her around while Lizelle smiled at how cute Eri was. Up the stairs were the loft and the other bedroom. Once again minimally decorated and mostly empty.
“Are you gonna stay with Toshi from now on?”
“Uh yeah, I think I am,” Lizelle sits next to her on the bed, noticing a slight twinge of sadness from Eri even though her face doesn’t say anything.
Lizelle slightly bumps shoulders: “Don’t worry; I’m still going to see you all the time. Who do you think is gonna babysit you?”
She nuzzles her nose against Eri’s playfully, grinning at Eri’s giggle, sadness gone.
The two lock up and leave, bring Shinso’s keys back for him and head home.
Seeing nobody else home yet she decides to get head start on dinner. She hears Eri watching TV and by the sound of it, it was some superhero anime. Lizelle smiles as Eri cheers for the heroes. Considering the back story of Eri, it’s no wonder she has a great love for heroes. Lizelle growled slightly, thinking of Eri’s past. If I ever get my hands on that abusive foster father of hers... Thank goodness Mirio had noticed the signs of something wrong at her house; first the wounds on her arms, explained away by saying she’s reckless and clumsy even though Eri was the gentlest and most careful of all the kids in his class; and second Eri’s hesitancy to go home. Mirio got Izuku involved and using his high position in town along with some others’ help including the Deputy Mayor Mirai Sasaki, they were able to save Eri.
Lizelle had heard the story from Shinso and Mic. She was happy to meet two of Eri’s saviours today, but didn’t want to say anything in front of Eri in case of trauma triggers. Lizelle quickly focuses back on the food to avoid burning it. She giggles as she is reminded of this morning with Mic and the pancakes. No wonder people who don’t know us think we are related.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After dinner and telling Mic and Aizawa about their day, Lizelle helps Mic wash up as Aizawa takes Eri upstairs to get her ready for bed.
“So which job do you think of going after?” Mic asks as he dries the plates.
“Well Tokoyami from the library has my contact details if he ever needs my help, but I am thinking of maybe doing some part-time at the diner and maybe somewhere else as well. At least like secretary or cashier considering I don’t have the skills to help at the other aspects of the businesses here.”
Mic nods: “Well, that sounds good. After all you won’t have to worry too much about money with the rent being Shinso’s responsibility and you do need the time to work on your real career. But hey...”
Mic puts a gentle hand on Lizelle’s shoulder so she focuses on him.
“... Don’t go throwing yourself out there and stressing yourself out too much. I know you and I know that’s what you’ll do. You are away from your family. You have no one to prove yourself to here and us to support you. And don’t listen to those negative little voices inside your head because you know those are your family’s words and thoughts, not your own.”
Lizelle smiles and gives Mic a hug: “Thanks Papa Mic.”
The two finish up and retire for the night. Everything here is perfect...
A little too perfect.
Midoriya was thrilled to take Katsuma under his wing once he passed the UA entrance exam. UA High offered housing for those who didn’t have a place to stay, but anyone living at home could commute if they desired. Katsuma had no problem staying at the dorms, but his father had his reservations.
Katsuma's father recalled the young hero who saved his son. Reaching out to Midoriya, the father asked if Midoriya would be okay with hosting Katsuma while he attended UA High. Midoriya already had Kota staying in his place since he lived right next to UA and had no problem having another kid stay.
His apartment had felt very empty alone, so he appreciated the company.
Katsuma and Kota got along much to Midoriya’s joy. Kota saw a lot of Midoriya in Katsuma and took it upon himself to protect Katsuma no matter the costs. Katsuma was introduced to Eri through Kota and boom, a friend group was formed.
It wasn’t until a couple of months before their first year ended that Kota approached Midoriya to explain his worries about Katsuma’s girlfriend. The girl was from the business department.
According to Kota, the chick was trying to keep Katsuma away from him and Eri. That information wouldn’t be as concerning if it weren’t for the fact the girl would get angry if Katsuma talked to them.
Midoriya wasn't inexperienced in the dating world. Midoriya knew what kinds of people to stay away from romantically. He had been in many failed relationships, but most of the time it was because he knew his worth and what he wanted out of life.
Midoriya knew that the red light was blinking and the warning sirens were blaring. Kota's explanation was enough to concern Midoriya. Midoriya would kill for his children. There was no way he was going to let some grubby future Hero Commission worker hurt his baby.
Kota knew just how far Midoriya would go for those he cared about and was more than happy to throw the emotionally and verbally abusive girlfriend under the bus.
Unfortunately, Midoriya didn’t have to initiate the conversation because the following day Katsuma came home crying. Midoriya told Kota to give them a moment, not wanting to risk Katsuma hiding information because Kota was with them.
Kota and Katsuma got along, but sometimes embarrassing things happen in a relationship. Midoriya wasn't naive. After all, he went to UA High and his classmates were less than innocent when their third year at the school rolled around.
“Katsuma? What happened?” cooed Midoriya, letting the young teen rush into his arms.
“It’s Okamura," wept Katsuki, hiding his face in Midoriya's baggy shirt.
Midoriya tried to not sound aware of what was going on to get a full explanation. “Okamura? Your girlfriend? What did she do?”
“I was just talking to Shoji-sensei with Kota and Eri about your upcoming patrol. Okamura must have been watching and started screaming in my face about how I was hiding stuff from her and that I was a horrible boyfriend,” cried Katsuma, clearly distressed that he was screamed at for no reason.
Midoriya did everything in his power to not walk out of the home, tell the kid’s parents everything, and then tell Nezu to expel her. No one made his son cry, especially for no reason.
Midoriya let out a soft sigh before pulling back and cupping Katsuma’s wet face and using his thumbs to wipe away tears. “Has she done stuff like this before?”
“Yes, all the time. She won’t let me have any friends. She’s constantly trying to make me sneak out and spend the night,” revealed Katsuma, making it clear that Okamura isn’t respecting his boundaries or what he cares about.
Midoriya was becoming more worried than anything else. It was clear what Okamura was trying to pressure Katsuma into doing. Midoriya understood Katsuma was getting older and it wouldn’t be shocking if he was curious about sex. But, if Katsuma wasn’t interested in doing it and Okamura was trying to get Katsuma to do dangerous things even if he wasn’t interested, that was a serious problem.
“If she gets this angry at the little things, she will only get worse as time passes. This girl doesn’t respect the people you care about. She doesn’t value your space or privacy. She doesn’t care about your comfort. I’ll support whatever decision you make, but don’t expect me to allow her to step foot in this house because if I see her, she’ll be too scared to even look your way once I’m done talking to her,” said Midoriya in a scarily calm voice.
Katsuka weakly smiled, simply sinking into Midoriya’s touch and hiding his face into Midoriya's puffy sweater. “I’m scared to end things with her.”
“Don’t be. She’d be stupid to try messing with you. Having you under my wing, every hero in the school would be willing to die for you. Okamura would be expelled immediately as well. She's not fit to be a hero if she lashed out at you," reassured Midoriya, brushing Katsuma's bangs around to fluff them.
"You're right. I'll ask Eri and Kota to be nearby when I do it!" chirped Katsuma, feeling a lot better about getting himself out of a bad relationship.
Three days have passed since Katsuma ended his relationship with Okamura. The breakup was far from easy and peaceful. Eri had to step in when it sounded like Okamura was preparing to strike Katsuma. Kota had been waiting for the moment Okamura tried anything so he had permission to physically intervene.
After the breakup, Okamura wasn't backing down. It was clear she wasn't when Kota and Eri couldn't find Katsuma one day. When they were looking around, they soon realized they couldn't find Okamura either. Kota and Eri's calls went to voicemail when they attempted to call Katsuma.
Panicking, the duo ran to the teacher's lounge to help them find Katsuma. Nezu caught the drift of what was happening and quickly checked the cameras only to find Okamura forcefully dragging Katsuma to a vacant classroom.
Kota tried to beat the heroes to Okamura, but they got to the empty classroom first. Katsuma was unconscious and Okamura was caught red-handed restraining a beaten-up Katsuma to a chair. Heroes were sent to capture and restrain the teen.
None of the adults knew what to do. When it came to Midoriya, no one messed with his kids. When it came to children in general, Midoriya would happily destroy anyone who even tried to put a child in harm's way.
The adults were evenly split about telling Midoriya. Half wanted to fix the problem in privacy knowing Midoriya would raise hell. The other half wanted to immediately tell him so hell wasn’t raised upon them, there was no stopping Midoriya and he would find out any moment now.
While the adults were deciding what to do, Kota urgently called Midoriya.
"Izuku! Izuku!" shouted Kota, not waiting for Midoriya to greet him.
Deku, who was currently in the middle of capturing a villain alongside his hero partner Dynamight, froze at Kota's frantic tone. "Kota? What happened? What's going on?"
"It's Katsuma! Okamura-," started Kota, only to be cut off.
"I'm on my way," announced Midoriya in an eerily calm tone.
All Kota could do was smile as Midoriya ended the call abruptly. His dad was pissed and Okamura was going to wish she never met Katsuma when Midoriya was done with him.
Bakugo blasted the villain, watching the police force rush to capture the unconscious villain. Turning to Midoriya, Bakugo froze when he saw Midoriya's dark expression.
"Izuku? What the hell?" yelled Bakugo over the sirens.
"Something happened. I'm heading to UA. Right. Now," seethed Midoriya, shooting his gaze to his best friend.
"I'm coming with. You look like you're going to kill someone," remarked Bakugo, eager to see what was about to go down.
Midoriya chuckled to himself, freaking out Bakugo. "Oh, once I know what that dumb girl did, I just might."
Katsuma was in the nurse's office, currently getting his vitals checked since no one knew exactly what Okamura did to knock someone as strong as Katsuma out. The adults were still discussing their mode of action when Nezu revealed that Midoriya was here.
The adults were panicking, trying to figure out what they were going to tell the number one hero. Their panic only doubled when they found out the number two hero, Midoriya's hero partner, the one and only Bakugo Katsuki, was with him.
Kota and Eri were beside Bakugo as Midoriya took the lead. Midoriya entered the nurse's office, immediately tending to Katsuma. "I'm going to kill that little punk. I guess she is stupid enough to hurt one of my precious jewels."
Katsuma silently cried into Midoriya's chest, feeling safe in the presence of his guardian. "She... she."
Midoriya shushed Katsuma, seeing that Katsuma was not ready to talk about what happened. Turning to the new nurse, the pro-hero Healflame, Midoriya tried to remain kind.
"What did Okamura do?"
"From what I can tell, she failed to properly inject Katsuma with an unknown substance I'm getting tested now. Okamura also physically attacked Katsuma once she injected the substance into him, most likely the way Katsuma ended up unconscious. There will be some bruising on his head, wrists, and legs, but is fine otherwise."
Midoriya screamed at Nezu, Katsuma's teacher, and Okamura's teacher. The fact that Okamura wasn't in handcuffs only enhanced his rage.
"So you failed to protect my child, but you are now protecting a criminal? That monster practically kidnapped and assaulted my child in this school and you all are protecting her?" shrieked Midoriya, his face growing red from how angry he was.
Nezu bowed his head and sighed, "We can't do anything. Okamura's case depends on Katsuma."
"And you wanna know why you can't do anything? My son was knocked un-fucking-conscious!" Midoriya couldn't help but laugh in disbelief. "You know, after all the shit my class went through in our time here, you still manage to fail to protect children Nezu."
Nezu remained silent, staring at Midoriya in shock and hurt. Everyone in the room knew Midoriya hit where it hurt. No one could blame Midoriya because what he said was true.
Shoji rushed to bow before Midoriya. "I sincerely apologize for the harm I have caused Katsuma and I'm planning on apologizing to him personally. He mentioned Okamura was a bit on the crazy side, but I didn't know to the extent. I have failed your son and I promise to make it up to the both of you."
Midoriya smiled, patting Shoji's shoulder before giving it a tight squeeze. "The first thing you can do to make it up to me is to get that brat's parents here... now."
Shoji nodded, leaving the room to make the calls. Bakugo marched over and crossed his arms. "This is why you can't even break the top ten. If you paid attention and cared about your students, none of this shit would've happened."
Kota scoffed, "They didn't even seem to hurry when I told them to find Katsuma!"
"Yeah, they tried to tell us that we were being dramatic," ranted Eri, happy to call out the teacher's neglect.
Midoriya looked at Bakugo. "Kacchan."
"What nerd?"
"I need you to stop me if I can't hold back anymore."
Bakugo nodded, the only one equipped to stop Midoriya if he lost his cool. It wasn't often that Midoriya lost control of his emotions, but then again, Midoriya always struggled to control his heart when those he loved were hurt.
When Okamura's parents finally arrived, Midoriya guided them to a private room to discuss what happened. Midoriya genuinely believed that if he talked to the parents, they'd come to a resolution.
It didn't take long for Midoriya and Okamur's parents to disagree.
"Our precious daughter would never do that!" cried the girl's mother.
Midoriya narrowed his eyes, getting suspiciously calm. "Oh? So you want to play that game."
The woman wasn't having any of it. "How dare you insinuate our child was capable of harming Katsuma! She loves that boy with all her heart!"
"You're daughter may have loved my kid, but she had a horrible way of showing it. Your daughter is the reason why they broke up, she made my son cry. Your child is a demented lunatic! She assaulted my kid!" argued Midoriya, his composure slipping.
The woman gasped, pointing a finger at Midoriya. "You're crazy! I don't care if you're some hot-shot hero, you're the crazy one!"
"I don't care if protecting my son makes me crazy. And... just so you know, parent to parent, I don't care what you say anymore. I was willing to come to some kind of resolution, but that's over now. I won't let your criminal of a child get away with what she did and she will not be getting away with a lousy slap on the wrist. Her future is over," promised Midoriya heartlessly.
"You can't do this!" exploded the woman, her face bright red as panic settled in her gut.
"Oh, but I can, and I am more than happy to let you know that your daughter will never become a hero because I am going to get her banned from this school and all other hero schools. Your child is a villain and if she does manage to get away with this... I will make sure that the rest of her life is a hell she can't escape,” vowed Midoriya, his smile anything but welcoming.
Midoriya happily got up and left the horrified mom and neglectful dad in the room. Opening the door, Midoriya was met with Bakugo and Kota eavesdropping. Midoriya rolled his eyes at Bakugo's stunned expression.
"Damn Izuku. You should date me," suggested Bakugo, shooting his shot.
Kota fake gagged, offended. "Back off old man!"
Midoriya patted Bakugo's bicep. "Ask me later Kacchan. I'm in the middle of something."
"The middle of being a badass," complimented Kota, smiling at the memory of Midoriya giving those parents a piece of his mind.
Thankfully with Midoriya's power and status, Okamura was expelled and charged with assault even though most children don't ever get serious charges. The substance Okamura tried to inject Katsuma with was another piece of evidence that made it easy for Midoriya to get his way.
Katsuma had a quick recovery and his bond with Midoriya somehow managed to get even stronger. Kota and Eri also managed to get even closer to Katsuma, growing even more overprotective. Midoriya was happy to shelter and defend the kids who were put under his care.
No one fucked with Midoriya’s kids.
For kids, turning four was the year that would make or break them. In a hero-based society, quirks dictated worth.
Izuku’s life was considered over the moment he was confirmed to be quirkless. After losing everyone who cared for him and being bullied by those he was close with for everything he said or did, Izuku shut down.
Izuku developed symptoms of a severe social phobia at the ripe age of six. Inko was shattered, watching as her brilliant and bright child faded away. Not only did she start getting reports from the school that Izuku wasn’t speaking at all, he no longer talked with her.
Midoriya pointed and shook his head to speak. With the silence, Izuku started to cry a lot more. Despite all of that, Izuku did technically speak every day. It was only one phrase. Inko could barely hear it with Izuku's face buried in her shoulder.
“I love you, Mom.”
Izuku never left the house and strayed far away from the playground after he returned home with bruises one eventful day. Inko didn’t want him to leave anyways. Inko felt better knowing he was safe at home. Even after Izuku went completely mute at six, he still had aspirations to become a hero. He continued his hobby of writing in his notebooks and buying All Might merchandise.
Izuku's shut-in habits carried on for the rest of elementary all the way through middle school. Izuku had no friends and he didn’t bother trying to pursue having a social life. Having no distractions allowed him to focus on school. He had the highest score in his class for a reason. He often tied with Katsuki for first place in terms of intelligence. Katsuki didn’t like that.
Even if Izuku admired Katsuki from afar, he never let his biggest bully notice. Izuku avoided Katsuki to the best of his ability. Even if Izuku made effort to stay away, Katsuki chased. He'd never admit it, but he stalked Izuku.
Katsuki hadn't planned on spying on Izuku in the beginning. He assumed Izuku was ignoring him to act higher than him. Then it turned into spying. It was a shock to Katsuki after following Izuku, to find seeing that he refused to speak to anyone. If necessary, he’d use sign language to convey a message or write it down.
Once it became clear to Katsuki that Izuku was mute and not ignoring him, the situation shifted a bit. Suddenly he waited for the moment when he'd hear Midoriya's voice again. He wanted to know if it deepened or if it was still high-pitched and girly. Soon it sank in that he'd most likely never hear Midoriya's voice again.
In most of their classes, when you were called on, you answered the question on the board. You didn’t have to really say it out loud unless it was necessary for the subject matter. Izuku was able to get through school with close to no problems. He endured the bullying and pushed forward.
Inko had done her best to help. She tried everything in the book: speech therapy and child psychologists, and she sought out a pediatrician. Not much could be done. She tried all the tricks they offered her: shaping, self-modeling, and the list goes on.
It became clear the trigger of it was bullying and the traumatizing experience he endured at the ripe age of four. His dreams were shattered and everyone turned their back on him at a time when he needed support the most.
Izuku did see a therapist to open up about his bullying, but still only ever used sign language. When Izuku was being confronted by his bullies (classmates and teachers) he never once spoke. He had no desire to be a part of the world that surrounded him. He enjoyed submerging himself in the quiet.
Despite the odds, Izuku managed to save Katsuki from the sludge villain and impress Toshinori. Izuku had spoken to Toshinori, feeling safe and excited enough to use his words. Just like that, Izuku was on his way to obtaining the most power quirk to currently exist.
Izuku built a really strong bond with Toshinori, discussing his life and how he was selectively mute. Toshinori was grateful Izuku opened up about his life. While Izuku dedicated ten months to training from U.A. Toshinori dedicated ten months to learning sign language. While he didn’t have to use it to speak to Izuku, he wanted to make it easy for Izuku to talk to him.
Izuku probably had no one in his life that he could easily talk to by using sign. Izuku most likely had to write everything out for people to understand. It wasn’t ideal when he was Izuku’s mentor.
Izuku makes it into U.A. High and kept to himself. On the first day Uraraka thanked Midoriya for saving her. Iida greeted Izuku, beyond impressed with Izuku’s bravery. Izuku made it known he was mute, but he could hear. While it didn’t make them hate him, it kinda created a barrier in terms of communication. Everyone was beyond nice, but Izuku didn’t really click with anyone.
Being the current wielder of One for All, Izuku took control of how to handle his quirk development. As a result, Izuku was more open with Aizawa. He explained that he didn’t have a lot of experience with his quirk. His body had to become strong enough to withstand the tole his quirk would have on him. Aizawa recognized that Izuku had spent his time preparing for his quirk since he couldn’t train something he legitimately couldn’t use.
Aizawa was the second person to earn Izuku’s trust. Izuku still didn’t say more than a few words and he didn't speak to Aizawa if others were present. No other teachers or students had heard Midoriya’s voice.
Kirishima and Todoroki were the first two to hear Midoriya’s voice out of the class. Katsuki was also there, but it was the first time he’d heard Izuku speak since he was six.
It was during the USJ attack. Izuku leaped into action to save Toshinori.
“You stupid villain!”
If it hadn’t been in the heat of the moment, the three would’ve been more surprised by him speaking rather than the fact Izuku was about to die. Katsuki was undeniably unnerved. He was so used to the idea of Izuku’s voice still being exactly how it was nine years ago. It really got to him when Izuku’s voice was significantly deeper and he sounded so angry you could hear the words ripping through his vocal cords.
Then the sports festival came around, it went smoothly at the start. Izuku won the first event, had a great group during the second event, and was now in the final event. Izuku was against Shinso first. Ojiro was very aware Izuku was mute, but he was now aware Izuku could speak if he chose to. After filling in Izuku about Shinso’s ability to brainwash a person once they speak, Izuku thanked Ojiro. It meant a lot to him for Ojiro to seek Midoriya out to help him.
When the round started, Shinso went on a tangent. Izuku listened but ignored the anger that brewed in his gut. Shinso may have been saying those things simply to provoke Izuku, but it was extremely disrespectful for his life story to be assumed by someone he never met before.
Izuku had to fight quirkless considering he could really hurt Shinso if he used his quirk. He couldn't control his output so there was a slim chance he could kill Shinso. So they duked it out. It didn’t take too long for Izuku to knock Shinso out of bounds.
When going against Todoroki, Izuku knew what he was dealing with. Todoroki had told Izuku about his reasons for not using his second quirk: fire.
Midoriya understood what Todoroki was feeling. The effects of how he was treated by being quirkless resulted in a long list of problems. Izuku couldn’t begin to imagine the effects abuse had on him, not to mention the dysfunctional family not providing any help.
Izuku saw past all of that and knew Todoroki needed help. While he wasn’t going to throw away the competition, he wasn’t going to let Todoroki struggle either.
Izuku found himself yelling at Todoroki. Izuku wanted to test the waters, but ultimately just had to push Todoroki’s buttons. Despite the pain both Todoroki and Izuku were enduring from their battle. This match was a lot more than just winning the sports festival.
Then came workplace internships to gain experience. Hosu was under attack and the Stain incident occurred. Izuku managed to become a “true hero” alongside All Might. It was impressive considering Izuku is the second person Stain has claimed to be a true hero. The situation brought Izuku, Todoroki, and Iida closer together.
When final exams rolled around, working with Katsuki to go against Toshinori was a strange situation. Katsuki was still beyond temperamental. Everyone knew the two didn’t along and Katsuki was still hostile towards Izuku. The fight was brutal and the two teens had their air knocked out of their lungs more times than they could count.
Izuku still had yet to speak directly to Katsuki. Katsuki overheard Izuku talking, but Izuku still hadn’t spoken to Katsuki. Imagine his surprise when he is punched in his puke-covered face by Izuku to hear his yelling.
“Don’t you dare say you’d rather lose!”
The final exams ended and summer arrived. Summer would've gone great yet their "summer vacation: went horribly wrong. The league of villains decided to ambush the teens.
Izuku hadn't spoken the entire trip until he was alone with Kota. He hated seeing Kota give up on the world just like he did. After all the child was only five. In hopes to change Kota’s fate, he spoke up.
“If you reject it that harshly, the only person getting hurt is yourself,” explained Izuku, patient with the kid who had an explosive personality like Katsuki.
While Kota didn’t react well to Izuku’s advice, he was enraptured by Izuku’s voice. When he kicked Midoriya in the balls, Mandalay shunned him but also revealed Midoriya was mute.
Muscular appears and he is out for blood. Muscular tried to kill Kota and Izuku was not going to let it happen. In a fit of panic and rage, Izuku screamed out. Seeing Kota use his quirk in desperation ignited a fire in him.
“As if… I’d let you kill him!”
Not even moments later, Katsuki was kidnapped and in the midst of despair, Izuku couldn’t stop the scream that echoed through the forest. That also didn’t stop his scream that conjoined with the crowds in the final battle between All Might and All for One. It seemed as if the world was coming back together just to fall apart again.
During the provisional hero license exam, Izuku once again had to scream. It was targeted at Todoroki and Yoarashi for almost getting Shindo killed.
“Dammit! What are you two doing!”
Izuku’s blunt choice of words helped the two get their asses back into order and focus on the mission at hand. Soon enough the provisional hero license exam ended and the results were in.
While Todoroki and Katsuki were away for their required remedial course, Izuku would face his biggest battle yet. Alongside the big three, a handful of his classmates, and some pro heroes, Izuku was to rescue a wonderful girl name Eri and help defeat the villain Overhaul.
Izuku was a lot more vocal in this fight for Eri’s sake. Despite his mind holding him back at the thought of others hearing, he shut it down and kept his focus on Eri. Nothing matter except saving Eri. Calling out to Eri was the most freeing and horribly exhilarating thing.
After recovery and returning back to school, it was time to prepare for the school festival. For a bit, things were perfect. Izuku could fall back into the shadows and relax. He didn’t have to speak and could enjoy time with Mirio and Eri.
Eri was amazed that Izuku was selectively mute. That meant she was super special for Izuku to have spoken to her. Izuku was fond of her reaction, flashing her a bright smile.
One weekend class 1-A wanted to go to the mall. Aizawa decided it was also the perfect time to show Eri the outside world. Eri stuck with Izuku, missing him from not seeing him much after the school festival.
Todoroki and Katsuki for some odd reason were the two that wandered around Izuku. You could blame their curiosity on Eri. She was stuck on his hip yet they had no idea how she knew Izuku. The mission Izuku was a part of was confidential.
Things never went smoothly with class 1-A. Aizawa had taken Eri for a bit while Izuku went to the bathroom. Despite his keen eye, Aizawa lost Eri. Izuku knew something fishy was happening. The last time he was in the mall, he was attacked by Shigaraki.
Half of the class stayed inside the mall while the other half was to observe the outside in case she wandered off far. Izuku, Todoroki, and Katsuki are stationed outside. Izuku was on the top floor of the mall, running around on the catwalk.
Izuku has no clue where to look or what to do. The panic settled in and people were everywhere. While everything in his head is screaming at him to return to the quiet and retreat, Izuku talked a deep breath and calls out into the world.
“Eri-chan!”
Izuku was turning around in circles, his mind reeling at the fact she could be anywhere. Todoroki and Katsuki heard Izuku call out and started head over. While they were trying to get to Izuku, Izuku spotted something out of the ordinary.
A car was approaching. Whoever was at the wheel drove sporadically. Taking a look at the diver, he immediately recognized the man as a villain. Seeing no one was in the car, Izuku went to work.
Stepping onto the railing, Izuku jumped off and down a level. Izuku ran forward, launching himself down the building. Once reaching the ground, Izuku landed right before the speeding car. Katsuki was blasting his way over, screaming for Izuku to get out of the way. From his view, the driver was now trying to swerve out of the way, but they weren’t going to make it.
Todoroki was sending out ice, trying to build an ice barrier between Izuku and the car. Despite their worries, Izuku had it under control. Izuku turned away from the car, drew back his leg, and t-boned the car with a single kick.
Katsuki and Todoroki stilled, seeing Izuku demolish the car with ease. When the two caught up to Izuku, they soon realized this was going to be the getaway driver. Moments later Aizawa alerts everyone Eri was found and the villain was arrested. Todoroki informs Aizawa about what happened and another police officer was sent their way.
Izuku and Eri were reunited. Eri jumped into Izuku’s arms and Izuku rested her on his hip. When the police came for a statement, Izuku grabbed a pen and wrote it down. He was not in the mood to talk.
Todoroki had no problem with Izuku’s silence and sighed to himself. “I thought you were going to die back there.”
“Yeah! What the hell was that nerd! Trying to get yourself killed?” shouted Katsuki.
Izuku smirked at the two before shrugging and walking away with Eri. While Katsuki was left standing there with a pissed frown, Todoroki mindlessly followed after his friend with a smile.
Silence was a bitch.
The end!
Izuku Midoriya was familiar with grief. Throughout his life, his precious heart loved too much. So when tragedy struck, the pain oftentimes felt unbearable. His generosity was taken advantage of far too many times. His compassion was abused. He lost people faster than he gained. Izuku Midoriya was very familiar with grief.
His father disappeared for a job across the world. Hisashi was too busy to send a text. He was too busy to say happy birthday. He was never there. All he was, was an idea. Only the thought of him existed to Izuku. The grief he felt from losing someone he never knew hurt the worst.
The people Izuku considered friends left him at the drop of a hat. No one stuck around. No one defended him. They changed faster than Izuku could comprehend. One second they played in the sand and in the next they were throwing sand at him. They were no longer people Izuku knew.
Izuku lost the one person he desired the most. Katsuki Bakugo became a star. Something so far away he’d never dream of being able to touch. Katsuki glowed and shined brilliantly. He was perfect in Izuku’s eyes. Izuku would chase Katsuki, refusing to give up. While the new version of his friend wasn’t tasteful, Izuku still knew how amazing Katsuki was deep down.
As Izuku grew up so did his list of losses. Quirkless people that he would meet on social media died. Once he got into U.A. he gained a lot of friends and strong adult figures, but just like in the past, people still left. His teachers died, many heroes died, villains died, and innocent civilians died. Midoriya at one point ran away, having to lose everyone he cared about to keep them safe. He watched the world crumble around him. Some of the people he held closest almost became memories.
Through all of it, Izuku persevered. He dealt with grief in many different ways. His method always changed and alternated depending on what and how.
Izuku was now in the middle of his third year at U.A. and couldn’t have been happier. His friends were alive, his teachers were alive, and villains were at an all-time low since the rise of quirks decades ago. Heroes were still needed by all means, but the League of Villains no longer existed and no war was about to break out.
Izuku had time to visit Eri and Kota more often as his workload was not nearly as big as it was in his first year attending U.A. The kids grew so much within two years. One day Aizawa informed Izuku he would need a babysitter for Eri. Izuku dropped everything to do so. Izuku took her out to the school’s garden, finding it a beautiful day to go outside.
Katsuki and Shoto got asked by Hatsume to go get Izuku quickly. She needed his opinion on some gear she was making for a first-year. They wanted recommendations and Hatsume knew asking the quirk analyst would help shorten down her list of ideas. The duo tracked him down to the garden with Eri after asking around.
Eri was currently weaving some flowers together, mimicking Izuku’s instructions. Izuku had asked about Aizawa and how she enjoyed living with him. Eri was more than happy to talk about her father, but suddenly she went quiet.
“Eri-chan? Is something wrong?” asked Izuku, worried that the chattering girl suddenly went silent.
Eri seemed to be contemplating something before looking up at Izuku. “Mister Deku, I have a question.”
“Go ahead,” encouraged Izuku, knowing Eri would ask no matter what. She knew she could ask Izuku anything.
Eri sat down the half-weaved flowers on the ground and focused on Izuku. “What is your Dad like? I can’t remember you ever telling me about him.”
“Oh, that’s because I never met him Eri. He went away for work before I got a chance to remember him,” revealed Midoriya, speaking to her in a soft tone.
“Why was he away for work for so long?” questioned Eri, not understanding why Izuku’s dad just wouldn’t be around.
Izuku shrugged, weaving Eri’s flowers for her. “I don’t know. His work was too important I suppose.”
Eri frowned, sad Izuku’s dad wasn’t around. “What about others?”
“Others?” repeated Izuku back to Eri, confused about what she meant.
“Yeah. The grandpas and grandmas and stuff. All of those people!” revealed Eri, a chipper grin on her face.
“Well, when I was young… they seemed to leave,” chuckled Izuku, unable to bring himself to tell her why.
Eri’s eyes widened, shocked Izuku was a lot like her. “Why did they all leave?”
Katsuki and Shoto arrived at the garden, spotting the two. They approached and saw the two talking. The expressions on Eri and Izuku’s faces signaled they were having a serious conversation. Katsuki walked right over, shamelessly snooping. Shoto went right alongside Katsuki. He wanted to know what Izuku was talking about.
Izuku was quick to come up with something, anything to keep Eri from getting too upset. He raised his head to see the sky peek through the leaves of the tree they were under.
“Sometimes special people come into our lives, stay for a bit, and then they have to go.”
Eri frowned, scooting closer to Izuku. “But that’s sad.”
“It is,” agreed Izuku solemnly. Izuku returned his gaze to Eri, resting his hands on the cloth of his slacks, smoothing out the wrinkles. He remembers how it felt to lose Toshinori. The news that Toshinori wouldn’t be around for much longer struck him in the gut so hard he couldn’t move. He couldn’t lie and say that it wasn’t hard. He smiled softly at her, tilting his head to the side. “But the bit where they were here was happy wasn’t it? Like Lemillion. When he was around, those were happy times.”
Eri’s eyes lit up, seeing the point Izuku was making. She giggled, a bright smile appearing as she nodded. “Yes! I brought his quirk back!”
Izuku hummed, nodding his head in acknowledgment. He recalled how monumental of a moment that was for everyone. Still, the thought reminded him of the war where no one walked away a winner. He pushed those feelings down, finding unconditional love for the girl he saw as his little sister.
“Maybe that makes it all worth it,” chuckled Midoriya, looking down at the flowers before putting one in her hair.
Eri smiled, touching the flower happily. She could understand what Izuku was saying. She missed Mirio always being around, but the time when he was around was a happy time. It made the time he was away bearable.
Shoto stood there, gripping the fabric of his shirt. He could feel his heart pound beneath his knuckles. The expression on Izuku’s face gnawed at him. The way Izuku said everything so mindlessly made Shoto realize Izuku thought of loss, a lot. Shoto lost a lot in his life, yet he couldn’t begin to deal with the grief in healthy ways. It took outside help to get to the point he was currently at. Even with the help he got, he couldn’t say there was anything that made it worth it. Not losing Toya, Rei, and the list of others he lost.
Katsuki watched with a blank expression. No matter what Izuku did, he couldn’t hide anything from Katsuki. Katsuki could see the strain in that smile. He could see the exhaustion replace the hope that was once in Izuku’s eyes. It made his palms sweaty. The way he felt was similar to the way a person would get when they had an itch they couldn’t scratch.
Katsuki loved Izuku. Izuku was like a porcelain sculpture, handcrafted by the heavens. Izuku's heart was made out of gold and he had the strength that could rival Gods and Goddesses. Katsuki looked at Izuku and drowned in hills of green. Izuku was the human embodiment of green: symbolic of life. His eyes, his hair, his everything.
Katsuki fell hard and Izuku had no clue. He watched Izuku tend to Eri with the maternal instincts he knew mimicked Inko. He knew deep down what Izuku was thinking the whole time. He knew what Izuku went through and how he dealt with losing people. Katsuki knew he had scared Izuku on numerous occasions when it came to “going away”.
Katsuki was about to step up and ruin the special moment, but Eri stopped him in his tracks. “Mister Deku… I don’t want you to go. You’re special.”
Izuku looked at Eri and his eyes widened. “Eri, I’m not going anywhere.”
“But you’re going to be a hero next year.”
“I am, but that doesn’t mean I’m leaving you,” reassured Izuku, giving her an earnest smile.
“You’re not?” sniffled Eri.
Izuku scooped her into a gentle embrace. “Nope. Never ever.”
Eri cried into Izuku’s shoulder, hugging him tightly. Izuku rubbed circles on her back as tears made their way down his cheeks. His smile cracked as he listened to the relieved cries of Eri. Izuku pulled back and tucked her fly-away hair behind her ear before wiping away her tears. “You won’t be going anywhere either. You’re just as special.”
Eri smiled, patting Izuku’s tears as well. “Never! I’d never leave!”
Izuku laughed, rising to his feet and extending a hand out to her. “Good, because who else would I have tea parties with?”
“Yeah, and you can’t leave because no one else can make me candy apples,” threatened Eri adorably, taking Izuku’s hand and jumping up.
Izuku patted her head, smiling fondly. “Speaking of food, it’s about time we get you some lunch. What are you hungry for today?”
Katsuki revealed himself to Izuku and Eri. Todoroki magically appeared beside Katsuki and waved at the two. “Hi.”
Izuku’s face lit up. “Kacchan! Shoto!”
Katsuki crossed his arms. “Hatsume needs your help when you get the chance. Also, I’m making us lunch today. You’ll burn down the kitchen.”
“I’m completely capable of cooking Kacchan,” sassed Izuku, raising a brow. Izuku had cooked before Katsuki on numerous occasions.
Shoto lowered his head in shame. “I can’t cook.”
Eri smiled up at Shoto. “Me neither! We are the same!”
Shoto perked up, nodding at the small child. “We are.”
Izuku was distracted by the two’s little scene and smirked. “Well, neither of you has to worry about that. It seems that Kacchan has you covered since he won’t let me cook.”
“Ha! Don’t try and do that guilt-tripping bullshit Izuku,” roared Katsuki, all bark no bite.
Izuku smiled, shrugging his shoulders. “Just saying the truth Kacchan. Let’s go then, me and Eri are hungry.”
As the four made their way into the main building, Katsuki wrapped an arm around Izuku’s shoulder and bit his chubby cheek. Izuku, used to the violent forms loving Katsuki showed, lightly bonked his head against Katsuki’s.
“Nothing makes it worth it if I can’t have you by my side,” murmured Katsuki into Izuku’s ear.
Izuku’s heart melted at Katsuki’s voice and his words of affirmation. Izuku leaned his head on Katsuki’s shoulder, using his free hand to wrap around his bicep. “You know I can’t live without you either,” whispered Izuku.
Izuku may be used to grief… but he will never be prepared when the time comes he loses the ones he holds the closest for good. But for now, Izuku has everything he could ever want. Eri, Shoto, and Katsuki had everything they could ever want. As cheesy as it sounded, it was because they had each other. They had love to keep the grief at bay or they made themselves believe so.
The End!
(also ignore the fact I referenced a scene from the kid's show Bluey in the episode “Camping” 😭 and ignore the fact that I thought about making a fan fiction because of it 💔 it was emotional okay?)

Quirk ( healing hands, detect life and summon fighters) (Skyrim)
It has been two weeks about to be three since y/n got a phone call that her mother/father/guardian disowned her because they didn't want her to be a hero but she went to school to be a hero anyway.
Y/n sighed as she laid in her bed in her dorm room. It was Christmas break and she was one of the few students who stayed at school instead of going home. Y/n was about to try and sleep when a knock on her door startled her. Y/n slowly made her way to her door, once she opened it partly she peeked out to see Mr Aizawa and Mr Hizashi she opened the door more "Mr Aizawa Mr Hizashi how can I help you?" Y/n asked Mr Hizashi smiled "Well little little listener how would you feel about coming home with us for the holidays?" Mr Hizashi asked y/n froze and lifted a eye brow "Huh?!" Mr Aizawa shook his head as Mr Hizashi chuckled "They're closing the dorms because a pipe froze and busted on the bottom floor so the students who are still here are either going to a hotel or with teachers. We'll have Eri and Shinso and we heard you were still here so we thought we'd ask" Mr Aizawa said with a shrug (nothing bad will happen all are trustworthy)
"are you sure?" Y/n asked Mr Hizashi smiled "of course! If we didn't want to we wouldn't have asked!" Mr Hizashi said smiling brightly, y/n swore she might go blind "sure I won't mind. Let me go pack" y/n said turning away from the door and walking over to her closet and packing a weeks worth of clothes, y/n also packed a blanket into her suitcase and grabbed a pillow, before walking out her dorm room door and closed it. Mr Hizashi smiled again before side hugging her "This will be the best break of your life let's go!" Mr Hizashi said as he grabbed one of Aizawas and y/ns hands and took off to the elevator. Once they got to the bottom floor y/n saw Shinso and Eri sitting on a couch "Y/n!" Eri yelled as she got off the couch and ran towards her y/n smiled before letting go of Mr Hizashis hand and bending down to catch the fast approaching child. Eri giggled as she ran into y/ns arms and hugged her, Shinso walked up to everyone "Hey y/n" he sounded so tired "Hi Shinso didn't sleep well?" Y/n asked Shinso shock his head "naw but I'm ok. Are we ready to go?" Shinso asked everyone nodded Y/n had put Eri down and they started walking outside as Eri held both Mr Hizashi and Mr Aizawas hands. "Any idea about what we're doing this week?" Y/n asked the tired boy "Nope do you?" Shinso replied y/n shock her head "we'll find out soon enough" y/n said with a Chuckle as the reached the back of Mr Hizashis car Shinso nodded. Y/n and Shinso put their luggage in the trunk before getting in the back seat, Aizawa had already put Eri in. Once everyone was in and buckled up Mr Hizashi moved the mirror to look at us "Alrighty my little listeners are y'all ready for a awesome week?!" ERI, Y/N and Shinso nodded and said yes and Mr Hizashi has crunk up the car before pulling out of the schools parking lot.
This will be a amazing week
some more erasermic family drawings bc eri's birthday was yesterday <3 <3
Lola
Age: 19
Birthday: July 29th at 6 am
Likes: Quiet, peacefulness, flowers, feeling peoples different skin textures, playing the kalimba, Shgaraki
Dislikes: People talking about her father, loud noises,, violence, bullies, her old school, abusers, Endeavor, herself
Bilingual in Spanish, English, and Japanese
Quirk: Corpse flower
Her hair is almost as long as rapunzel’s and anyone that touches her by the hair with their bare skin will almost immediately have a heart attack or seizure, and die. She is also able to disintegrate anything her hair touches, almost exactly like Shiggy’s quirk.
The rose on top of her head is actually a part of her body and every time she kills someone or loses control of her emotions, it emits a rotting flesh smell just like a real corpse flower. It also symbolizes what she feels
When she’s sick or unwell, the rose starts to wilt. 🥀
Rotting flesh= angry/sad
Lavender= scared, or trying to relax or calm down
Fresh Roses= Happy
Breaks down in tears when someone is killed from her quirk.
Sometimes when she has mental breakdowns, the hair has a mind of it’s own and extends and/or unravels itself to destroy or disintegrate everything around her. The LOV made a special room for her to lock herself in so she doesn’t kill everyone at the base.
She snuck into the sports festival, and after hearin what Endeavor shouted at his son when he used his fire, she knew almost instantly what must be going on behind the scenes… after all… her father was almost no different.
Her father and mother were both pro heroes. But once Lola’s quirk manifested, she accidentally killed her mother, and her father abandoned her. After years of being bounced around and abused in the foster system, she saw how the people in the LOV almost took out Endeavor with the nomu, she wanted to join… thinking people are oh so great when really they’re nothing but wolves in sheeps clothing (or I guess in this case; Villains Wearing A Hero’s Cape) don’t deserve the fame and glory they get, when they themselves do villainous deeds that most of the time produce what society labels as “Villains”
That, and… she doesn’t think there’s anything else for her to do with the kind of quirk she’s burdened with.
Everyone at the LOV was surprised when this young girl presented herself as a person who wants to join the most wanted terrorist group in Japan. The boys even placed bets on how long it would take her to leave.
Shigaraki refused at first, thinking someone as sensitive, weak, and fragile as her, would last a day in the LOV
Twice and Toga thought that she was cute, and wanted her to stay.
Shigaraki saw way too much of himself in Lola and after 48 hours of not being able to get her out of his head; he finally let her join.
Final prompt for erasermicmonth2025! Family ft. Eri winning Uno and Hitoshi being a menace
This was such a fun challenge I love them so much.
Final time posting the prompts below!
Aizawa: You left Kaminari alone with Eri?!!
Mina: He’s licensed
Meanwhile with Kaminari and Eri
Kaminari: Oh no, you have vanquished me mighty princess!
Eri: :D
So it's canon that Mic teaches Eri English and Eri calls him "Mr Mustache" or "Mr English" while she calls Midnight "Miss Art"
Bonus:
Vlad King -> Mr Excersize
Ectoplasm -> Mr Song
Now since Eri draws and is learning English, Mic buys her
THE ENTIRE SET and she draws her own versions of Ms Art, Mr English and/or Mr Mustache, Mr Excersize, Mr Song and many more
Two thoughts I had- MANGA SPOILER WARNING!
After cleaning himself up, Hizashi goes to the hospital with Toshinori. After making the medical decisions on behalf of Aizawa and checking on him- he left after hours. He left to go to Nemuris apartment. To pick up Sushi.
He brings Sushi to UA, tries explaining the situation to Eri as best he can.
"Hey, there, anklebiter... Remember Ms Midnight...? She- she wants your help! Think you're up to it, kid?"
"This is Sushi. He's- He's Ms Midnight's cat- Yeah! Like the cats on the clothes Mr Aizawa got for you! We have to take care of him for a while, right, Eri? I'm going to have to be away for a while too but the other teachers will stay right here to help."
He has enough energy to pretend to be Sushi- he has to. For Eri. Hizashi puts on a goofy voice and makes Sushi wave a paw "Hi there Eri! I can't wait to become your new friend!"
Hizashi starts looking at Aizawa weirdly. Giving him side glances. Avoiding eyecontact. Eyes fast. Aizawa thinks its because he lost an eye and a leg and doesn't pay any mind to it. Hizashi does it because he's thinking of the fact that Aizawa's supposed to be dead. It was for Shota. Not Oboro.
This is my corner of the internet where what I SAY GOES. SHUSH.
Midnight never wanted kids. She had an image to maintain.
THAT ALL CHANGED WHEN THE FIRE NATION ATTACKED Eri moved into the teacher dorms
SHES THE COOL WINE AUNT. YEAHHHH
As the only female in the staff, Midnight INSTANTLY was determined to be Eri's role model (before you say 13- I've never seen such a nonbinary character in my entire life dawg. 13's gender is literally void.)
She is the babysitter. Aizawa, Mic and All Might are all exTREMELY BUSY with their fuckin schedules so Midnight fills in!
Midnight gives the best gifts! She understands what Eri likes best without needing much explanation
She buys so mANY CUTE ACCESSORIES FOR HER!!!
Eri thinks she's so pretty but doesn't exactly know how to talk to her after being basically only exposed to dudes up to this point
Eri attaches herself to Midnight when she sees her genuine smile- like the small closed eyed one
It reminds her of her mom :,)
Its also the one of the reasons Eri doesn't smile like Aizawa or Mic. Imagine this 6 year old with either of their smiles- I dont know which would be scarier tbh-
She's got colored nails! SHE ALSO WANTS COLORED NAILS!!!
Eri learns so much and ends the day with pastel pink fingernails with small stickers on them. She spends a lot of time just looking at them, a small smile on her face.
When they spend time together, she tells her funny stories about Mic and Aizawa when they were students
Eri just sits quietly and listens- brO SHE FEELS LIKE A DELINQUENT OR SOME- liKE THESE EMBARRASSING ASS STORIES ABOUT HER GUARDIANS- SHES NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT MIC DEAFENING THE WHOLE CLASS CAUSE OF AN ANT THAT TURNED OUT TO BE FUCKING LINT BUT SHE DOES NOW-
These stories help her laugh more- she was previously scared of laughing at adults, yknow?
Aizawa and Mic are glad for that but goddammit Kayama- SHE DID NOT NEED TO SEE THEIR YEARBOOK PHOTOS-AUSDHAOUH
PLEASE NOT THE HALLOWEEN DRESSUP PHOTOS
Midnight calls her sugar(cube) or like other sweet nicknames
WHEN ERI GROWS UP MIDNIGHT IS MOM MODE x 10.
SHES IN THE FRONT FUCKING LINES.
Someone fucks with Eri, bro-
Midnight is known to knock people out with her quirk.
Not this time.
Hands are f l y i n g.
She's just- "hold my earrings, my shoes too- thank you, sugar"
Midnight basically helps ALL the girls feel comfortable about their body, Eri is NO DIFFERENT.
Midnight also will also make sure Eri doesn't feel self conscious about her scars. Eri isn't because of Aizawa and Midorya but she appreciates it none the less!
IF ERI IS INTERESTED IN MAKEUP- YOU KNOW DAMN WELL MIDNIGHT IS HELPING HER GET READY.
For every event. Midnight helps her get ready.
Imagine Eri having a date. You have to get vibe checked by ALL the teachers but when I say Midnight gets serious. She gets serious.
Just as terrifying as Mic. I honestly think Aizawa trusts Eri's judgement and doesn't bother getting involved in this so yeah!
Eri goes to her for the best advice on life being a girl in general
Sometimes that means telling the truth but Eri admires the realness Midnight brings to the table.
DID SOMEONE SAY GIRLS NIGHT????
Midnights taking her away from the teachers dorm so that they can have a spa day or something
Be financially irresponsible for a good day
"Um- Kayama-san... I love this but- I don't know... This dress is really- expensive..."
"SUGARCUBE- DARLING, NO, YOU LOOK GORGEOUS. TAKE IT- I'LL PAY." Midnight says holding 5 more dresses she thinks suit Eri
Straight up when Eri comes home from school one day, there's just a pile of bags on her bed and a note "Little something from your favorite aunt ♡"
Eri still kept that handheld mirror Midnight gifted her at her first Christmas :D
Mic baby proofing himself for Eri- his spiked elbow pads specifically cause Eri's head is at his elbows. Like corks UASHDOUAH- CORKS ON THE SPIKES.
That picture of the punk kneeling down so this kid could touch their spikes? Mic and Eri. Mic and Eri. Idk with his shoulder pads or his hair UAHSDOAUH- THAT IS ALL.
Eri actually loves the spikes, they’re like her horns :D!
To be honest, Eri was scared of Mic at first, but after the festival- she's really drawn towards loudness- yknow? And Mic loves music, is loud, really fucking bright- he's like a personified concert!
Mic: Hey there ankle biter! (loving)
They bond over their love for music. He's gonna try and get her to go out more and join him in his DJ gigs or something- OR he practices his gigs with her as his audience as to not overwhelm her
THAT IS WHY MIC GOT HER THE KIDS DJ SET FOR CHRISTMAS. THAT IS CANON. IT WAS A JOINT GIFT FROM HIM AND AIZAWA.
His energy is so good for her- having a very verbal person around helps her be more confident. Him and Mirio, big hypemen
Mic is also a very physical person. So Mic would pat her head and squish her cheeks if she lets him of course!
In return she reminds him to relax his face- that Present Mic smile must hurt a bit to keep up. Both physically and emotionally- Gentle hand to cheek papping to get him to chill
He helps her learn more Japanese and maybe English. One of his favorite things to do with her is read her stories- he NAILS- and I said N A I L S all the voices
ALTERNATIVELY- he teaches her JSL in case she goes non-verbal
Definitely. Eri goes to Mic when she wants something later on
“Mr Mic..? Can I have another candy apple?”
“What did Aizawa say?”
“No-”
“Then why’re you asking me, kiddo?”
“Because Mr Aizawa can’t tell you what to do”
Mic goes still. He’s sweating bullets: ITS A TRAP- ITS A TRAP- ITS A T R A P, YAMADA- YAMADA ITS A TRAP.
She got the candy apple.
Mic is chaotic parent. Defo the most willing to bend the rules out of all the UA staff
MIC IS GETTING HER A PAIR OF HIS SUNGLASSES. THEY M A T C H.
Them bonding over their tragic siblings.
Izuku accidentally called Tanjirou 'mom' that one time where Tanjirou is cooking and Izuku walks in like " that smells good, mom -- " and he freezes, takes a moment before collapsing on the floor sobbing and then rushes to call his bio mom to say how much he loves her and all.
Luffy watches Tanjirou training his hinokami kagura and the 'fire' illusion movement reminds him of Ace and when he is about to call out Tanjirou's name, he started with " hey, Ac -- " and catches himself in time by bitting his tongue so hard he bleeds a lot.
(Tanjirou worries a lot about them)

Color Palette Series day 11: Eri (My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia)
If nine and his gang were the ones who met Overhaul, how different would've things happened? Would they have created a successful partnership? Would nine care about eri when he discovers she's the centerpiece, especially since she has a quirk as crazy as his?
Now you're asking the real questions here.
But think about this: how good a meeting between a group who believes in quirk supremacy with another group who want to erase quirks from the world can possibly go?
Obviously if Nine and Chisaki meet each other and they both found about their real ideals and motivations it can make A.M and AFO look like best friends in comparison.
Yet at the same time I can help but think Overhaul and Nine would be the perfect rivals.
Not just because of their ideologies and the contrast in the way they treat their followers, but their personalities could make for interesting non hostile interactions between them.
I can see for example Nine actually being interested on learn shogi and play the game with Chisaki, both of them exchanging ideas and despite obviously hate each other they would enjoy try to surpass each other. A sort of enemies chemistry and that I love being used as a trope between bad guys.
Kai may also found nice the way Nine dresses up with good looking suits and keeps a mask almost all the time, ironically he might feel somewhat comfortable around Nine because of his manners which would add a fun twist to their rivalry.
And Nine will probably interested to learn to learn why Kai have such a complex with quirks and why he having a such godlike ability like Overhaul can't appreciate the "blessing" of born with that perfect quirk, at least on his eyes.
There's millions of possibilities with these two characters so different to each other interacting.
As for what Nine would think about Eri if he meets her? I guess he probably will try to free her from Chisaki and raise her into his own beliefs, since Nine would see Eri as a divine being who shouldn't be controled by anyone.
At least Nine would be more nice to Eri, but that's a very low bar lol.
One thing that is now unfair to ask is...what is Nine's name? Look hori treated him as an afterthought but his lack of origins works better than the comical twnko's origins.
Yes his family was all killed thanks to him but ...I can't help to think that scene was too ridiculous.
We never saw anyone mentioned them again, not even shig. (He remembers them in MVA and we do see the disgusting human puppet hori flay around) But that's it.
So Nine...
Im not one of those people who think a new character needs to be related to a pre stabelished one. Nine doesn't need to be a Todoroki, Shimura or hell even a lost Midoriya (hahahahahahaha as if hori would care for this family)
But ....imagine if Nine was related to Oboro, somehow, wouldn't that be interesting?
Maybe, maybe not.
Oboro's character became a thing to turns Aizawa into a better character...and fails. Kuro was sacrificed for nothing.
The thing about Shigaraki/Tenko backstory is that it feels... a bit overdramatic?
Well we can say that about his whole character, but the part of his backstory in particular when he kills his family is so exagerated for the sake of shock value that it kinda feels comical.
Horikoshi tried a bit too hard on make MVA feel like the edgier and "different" arc of the series, but the contrast in so big that I can't take it seriously.
Especially when Hori already nailed a dark tone without being super explicit or over the top.
Take the simplicity of Eri's backstory for example:
No blood, no unnecessary violence, just two panels giving a basic idea of what happened to Eri's father and yet the image of those clothes lying on the floor is much more haunting and eerie than the enterity of Shigaraki backstory.
Why Horikoshi stop being subtle with his storytelling?
...
Anyway going back to Nine real name, or the lack of one, I think it's interesting how that aspect of his character adds to the underlying theme of how AFO and Garaki dehumanize people, especially the ones that are part of their experiments.
We know very well how AFO doesn't view other human being as persons but rather objects that belong to him. This starts with his very own twin brother, which name Yoichi means something like "my first possesion".
And just like Nine, number 6 from Vigilantes was a child which whole life was modeled by AFO. They both are just numbers without a real name.
In this case the idea is presented even more explicitly because Six was a child who suffered some kind of amnesia and couldn't even view himself as a normal human with a face.
He even died as a monster without ever know if he had an identity outside being the number 6.
It's funny how you mention the idea of Nine and Shirakumo being connected somehow, as isn't the first time I've hear that.
It's interesting notice how they share this common theme about sky and clouds as part of who they are (Nine's name also is supposedly a reference to the term "cloud nine") both Nine and Oboro are individuals willing to sacrifice their own lifes for others, and ironically both of them ended being experimented by Dr Garaki.
I even have the headcanon of Kurogiri being the "Number 7" in this line of experiments were Nine and Six belong, as sort of missing link between Six and the sentient nomus.
I probably should make a post later explaining better this idea.
And yes for Horikoshi, Shirakumo was just a diposable character to make Aizawa look cooler and more edgy.
While the author of Vigilantes clearly invested a lot of effort on making Oboro a real and memorable character which complements Aizawa rather than just being an accesory. But that topic deserves it's own post as well.
P.S: I have an idea of what real name we could give to Nine, but I keep it for me at least for the moment.
