Wait. If All for One can see his vestiges all the time does that mean that his mom was still able to take care of him? Obviously she wasn’t physical but was she the one who taught him to speak, to read, to write, so that he could teach Yoichi all of these skills? Did she scold him when he fought with his brother? Was she standing over his shoulder telling him what trash was safe to eat? To stay away from the used needles that littered the concrete, to stay away from the bitter tasting liquor that she’d lived off of. Did she warn him when the anti-meta soldiers were coming? Did she love him, even as he used her ability to kill countless people? Did she cry when she realized her baby lived longer than she did, laced with more suffering than she’d ever know?

Or did she stay silent and watchful, wondering what creature she had released upon the world?

I just love the versatility of AFO fans, like on one side you'll have this incredibly Indepth analysis of his childhood trauma and on the other side you have the horniness people you've ever encountered. And it's amazing.

|| Soooo, I saw a comment on one of my previous posts that reminded me of a theory I made a few years ago about Dad For One and now I would like to share it! (although of course I edited it a little so that it is more subdued with what is currently happening in the manga-) ||

|| The theory goes that basically, Izuku WAS planned to be a vessel, but not for Afo, no, he was supposed to be the vessel for Yoichi's consciousness. ||

|| With how Afo is, it wouldn't seem strange to me that he wouldn't be satisfied with just having his brother's quirk and only talking to his ghost/conscience, once he had One For All, he would look for someone, someone who was the most similar as possible to Yoichi, both in appearance and goals, but when he couldn't find that someone, he probably thought : Why not create him? Why not create that person? ||

|| Furthermore, if he created that person who was going to be a vessel, he would not only be blood-linked to him (as he is with Yoichi) but he could also obtain a Quirk in the process, it was a win-win for HIM!! ||

|| But after this, although we don't know what happened, we don't know why he only let Izuku have a normal life (It could be that Afo became attached to Izuku or the experiment failed, but hey, that part will be confirmed to us by Horikoshi in some chapter) ||

|| Ok, you're going to call me crazy BUT THINK ABOUT IT, if Izuku DID have a quirk but Afo took it from him when he was very young (baby), we don't know how the quirk is going to form on its own, Afo has only stolen quirks from older people or children who already They had been handling their quirks for a while (Not counting Shigaraki of course, besides we don't see his quirk either), we have NEVER seen what a quirk looks like that was separated from its owner after (or before) being unlocked, I also theorized that if Dada For One stole Izuku's quirk and has always been with him, that was just Until the recent chapters ||

|| Although of course, it could also be that afo only stole a part of the quirk. example: maybe he only stole the part of the quirk that allows Izuku to give quirks and only left him the part that allows him to steal them or vice versa. ||

Yoichi: when I escaped the vault and left a recording of my voice that was triggered by the vault door opening that had me cursing him out and telling him that next time he wants to keep someone in a vault to take care of their mental state too, because I'm coming for him.

Everyone: silence

2nd: when did this happen?

Yoichi: I had it recorded for a while, it was supposed to be either for my funeral or for a last message when i got out sort of thing. I set it up while you guys were getting some stuff to take with us back to camp but I had almost nothing to pack so I just did that and then shoved everything I owned into a bag.

Izuku: that sounds fun.

Aizawa, walking in on the conversation: Izuku who are you talking to?

Izuku, looking him dead (haha) in the eyes: dead people. They are talking about the best experiences they had before death.

Aizawa, tired: and why does that sound fun?

Izuku, forgetting to give Aizawa context: well, the one who is all for one's brother left him a voice recording telling him off once he was able to escape the vault he put him in, that's what sounds fun. Not being in the vault, but the voice recording.

In the meantime, as there are only four chapters left, I think now is a good time to leave a little teaser for the sequel: A crop of the cover art!

The schedule for the rest of the chapters is going to be non-existent since I want to make as much art for them as possible, and that's beside the fact that I'm returning to nannying like next week.

I was thinking about this panel the other day and how the narration tells us that afo choose that particular kanji for yoichi's name is because he saw yoichi as a gift that was given to him.

then I also remembered this line when he's talking to kotaro, "children need siblings because nobody else will help them out"

I feel these two panels show that afo saw yoichi as the one good thing in his life growing up. he's living in complete destitution, he has no adult to take care of him, society doesn't bother to help him and he's considered a diseased creature majority of them. the only thing he has that stays by his side on a consistent basis is yoichi, that tiny weak thing that has been there with him from the very beginning.

focusing on that word "need", I believe afo was speaking from his own experience here and not simply saying this just to get kotaro into the idea of having another child. for a long time the only one that ever acknowledged his presence was yoichi and because of that he grew deeply attached to him. of course yoichi's acknowledgement wasn't enough for afo in the end and he wanted to get the world's attention, but the fact that he emphasized how children need siblings because no one will help them out shows how much yoichi's presence in those days meant to him.

he needed him because without him who would've been there to give him some comfort amongst the chaos that surrounded him? who would've talked to him and kept him company during those quiet nights when hiding out in abandoned buildings? humans need affection from other humans in order to thrive, there's been literal studies done about how loneliness can kill you. afo wouldn't be the exception to this rule, yoichi helped him get through those dark days.

I think afo would've turned out much worse if he was forced to grow up alone. at the end of the day afo just wants people to acknowledge his existence and yoichi gave him that as a child. the only one who ever did willingly for many years and that made a huge impact on afo's life.

going back to how he named yoichi, I think it shows how he sees yoichi as the one good thing the universe decided to grant him amidst all the ugliness in his life. everything else he had to take by force, but yoichi was the only thing granted to him freely. so he viewed him as something precious and irreplaceable, something that must be held onto tightly to a suffocating degree so it could never leave him. unfortunately that attitude is what ultimately caused him to loose him for good.

and it all just leads to this

you're different than everyone else, you actually mean something to me. you're the only one who was there when the world turned it's back on me. I can't keep going on without you the world loses it's colour and ceases to have meaning. everything I am is tied into you so without you I am nothing. you have to stay here with me I love you more than anything.

tragic the way things ended between them, and almost poetic in how the thing afo loved the most is what brought about his ruin

The resemblance between Yoichi and Nine is uncanny.

I still find interesting how Nine not only looks like he got physical traits from both AFO and Yoichi, but his eyes especially look like a mix of both.

The grey/silver iris color of All For One, but with white pupils like Yoichi and that thick black circle around the iris.

All them have beautiful eyes, but Nine's are especially beautiful and haunting.

Perhaps the best eyes in all MHA.

Also you can't say Nine isn't somehow related to the Shigaraki bros... this can't be just a coincidence.
