A bunch of resources I've found as I've been learning about canes and how to use them ...
➡️ Physiopedia - types of canes, types of handles/grips, and how to use your cane
➡️ Mayo Clinic - How to size your cane, how to walk with it, and how to go up and down stairs
➡️ Pathways - Signs you might need a mobility aid
🎥 Video by Vive Health - demonstration of correct sizing and how to position your cane when walking, featuring a quad cane
🎥 Video by Orthopedic One - longer demonstration of how to walk with cane as well as demonstration of how to go up and down stairs
➡️ Web MD - what a cane is useful for, 3 types of cane, and how to use a cane (including how to go between standing and sitting)
🎥 Front Row with Ed and Elizabeth - how not to use a cane
➡️ Seniors Mobility - How does a cane help, how to walk with a cane, how to use a cane for balance, how a cane can help with back pain, and when you might need crutches instead
➡️ Med Plus Health - Canes vs walkers/rollators
Please feel free to reblog and add to this list or let me know if you've got a better resource for any of these topics ✌️
I hate when I'm told not to be bitter, not to be angry, like that's not what kept me alive for so long. The bitterness of having to push through to prove people wrong, to use my existence as a giant "fuck you", you want me to be soft? fuck you.
“You’re so strong for that..”
Thanks but that’s not all I am, let me be sad, frustrated, fearful, or even God Forbid- let me be soft.
biggest thing that pisses me off is people trying to talk someone out of a mobility aid, first off; what makes you think you know their needs more than them? what makes you think you know the amount of pain, imbalance, fatigue, etc symptoms they're going through?? Are you living in their body? NO!

i will now be sharing poetry
spent a week offline and write poetry, the real question is do I share that madness under the guise of “girlblogging”
Casually daydreaming about the mobility aids I think would help me, ya know, like every able bodied person does.
i was not made for this world, spiritually and physically I stand out of place.
