second year of uni is over!
felt like it was yesterday that i moved in, all excited for the new year and it's suddenly just over :(
also technically it's not over because i have an abnormal psychology exam still left tomorrow but most of my exams/jury exhibitions are over and i feel sad ngl
but anyways i will try my best to study for the last exam after a cute dinner i had last night while watching apothecary diaries (love maomao sm)
till next time <3
needed this reminder <3
gentle reminder you can rise up from everything. you can recreate yourself. nothing is permanent. you are not stuck. you have choices. you can think new thoughts. you can learn something new. you can create new habits. all that matters is that you decide today and never look back.
today's post will be pretty short but hopefully useful. i've compiled a list of my favorite youtube channels for study tips, tricks, and motivation- hope it helps!
gohar's guide - informative youtube shorts on studying
fayefilms - mainly vlogs and study tips

helaine zhao - again, mainly vlogs for inspiration + study tips
js park - maximizing studying, how to manage time
organic chemistry tutor - explains math, chemistry, and physics in concise and easy to follow videos (absolute lifesaver)
khan academy - a classic, focus mainly on math but also has other subjects
lofi girl
ellene
abao in tokyo
merve
elliot choy - student at vanderbilt, makes trip vlogs
the college essay guy - lemme tell you, he's the GOAT at college essays. also has a blog at https://www.collegeessayguy.com/
kay chung - makes absolutely chaotic dental student youtube shorts, super funny and entertaining!
hope this helps, and please check out my other posts!!
essay crisis ‼️
I have an assignment due tomorrow night, it's a literature review where I have to synthesize 10 articles.
How many articles am I done reading, you ask? NOT EVEN ONE
I keep getting stuck on the first paper because I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY'RE SAYING. I think it's a translated paper because they use complicated language and phrasing.
I have other academic commitments today evening and half the day tomorrow.
and I also have 2 more assignments due on wednesday (in 3 days aaaaAAA) that I have started on.
please pray for me y'all 🙏
bonus: outdoor study session as I try to read 1/10 papers of said assignment
it's barely been a week since the new semester has started and there's SO MUCH work
meetings are endless and workload is piling up im trying to get ahead of tasks but staying motivated is difficult :/
also, happy new year to everyone (◕ᴗ◕✿)
tasty food and (intense) study sessions
i have a social psych final in a day and im done revising one module....out of 12 modules.....
wish me luck y'all 😭
will prolly have few breakdowns in the morning
till then, good night y'all <3
UPDATE: the final went pretty okayyyy and i was able to revise all modules hehe
scared rn, need all the help I can get 😔😔😔
end sem szn is nearing and i need to start preparing so:
psych:
bio bases
test-yourself-flashcards for neurotransmitters & their functions and parts of the brain & the functions
start going through ppts, start with the topic you feel the most lost in (or figure some other strategy for this, if needed)
simultaneously go through the QB questions for the topics you do
and ofc, past-year papers
stats
start making compulsory cheat sheet
(timed) practice exercises
past-year papers
personality psych
go through ppts (of both profs, if needed)
go through given textbook(s) for more clarity
past-year papers
social psych
start making mind-maps of theories/topics to understand the topics, use given textbook(s) for this
start with the topics that weren't tested in the quiz
teach it to yourself through storytelling, don't rote memorise
past-year papers
design:
make final presentation
finish up prototype, add aesthetic details, sticky notes and other labels
prepare points you wish to emphasize on during jury
chaotic study sessions and pretty campus walks <3
just finished yet another statistics test and now im preparing for social psych 💪
AND THE FACT that this isn't even finals szn😔🤧

taking better notes during fast-paced lectures can be challenging, but here are some tips to help you keep up:
abbreviations and symbols: create a personal shorthand system. for example, use “w/” for “with,” “b/c” for “because,” and arrows (→) to show relationships. this can significantly speed up your note-taking.
focus on main ideas: listen for key points and concepts rather than trying to transcribe everything. lecturers often emphasize important information through repetition, changes in tone, or visual aids. pay attention to these cues.
structured methods:
cornell method: divide your page into three sections: a narrow left column for cues, a wider right column for notes, and a bottom section for a summary. during the lecture, jot down main points in the right column. after the lecture, add cues and a summary.
outline method: use headings and subheadings to organize information hierarchically. this helps in understanding the relationship between topics.
mind mapping: create a visual representation of the lecture content. start with a central idea and branch out with related concepts. this method is particularly useful for visual learners.
leave space: if you miss something, leave a gap and move on. you can fill in the details later, either from the textbook, recordings, or discussions with classmates.
record the lecture: if your lecturer allows it, recording can be a lifesaver. you can listen to the lecture again to fill in any gaps in your notes. just make sure to review the recording soon after the lecture while the material is still fresh in your mind.
review and revise: go over your notes as soon as possible after the lecture. this helps reinforce the material and allows you to clarify any points you didn’t fully understand. consider rewriting or typing up your notes to organize them better.
active listening: engage with the lecture by asking questions and participating in discussions. this not only helps you understand the material better but also makes it easier to remember.
use technology: apps like evernote, onenote, or notability can help you organize and search your notes efficiently. some apps even allow you to record audio and sync it with your notes.
do you have any specific challenges with note-taking? let me know in the comments.

I JUST GOT THIS MAIL
slayed a little too hard🤭
not letting this get to my head tho, because there's still a long long way to go ofcourse
but the fact that i was amongst the top 10% in a batch of 750 students is so academically validating😭
a small personal anecdote (✿^‿^)
im not that religious but festivals like ganesh chaturthi are a nice little break from all the studying.
throughout my school time, i remember having semester exams during the festival which was soooo sad because i never let myself enjoy and was almost never mentally present at the celebrations :/
i love dhols sm, been wanting to play them for the longest time
happy ganesh chaturthi!
nothing like studying biological bases of behaviour at 8 a.m.
mark my words, your sleep WILL be taken away. doesn't matter if you're very drowsy, it WILL be gone because there's so much content ( ・ั﹏・ั)
had a mini heart attack when i realised my first graphic design assignment was due at 11:59 a.m. and not 11:59 p.m.
thankfully i was almost done with the assignment beforehand and only had to add few finishing touches (◡ ω ◡)
even though i feel v sleepy, afternoon classes are a vibe 乁[ ◕ ᴥ ◕ ]ㄏ
the campus cattos make it better <3
I will succeed. Not immediately. But definitely.
second year of uni has started in full swing!
went through personality theories for my personality psych assignment
made a cute study set up <3
(tried) to start my biological bases of behaviour course's assignment by reading the assigned research article
did a mini art project for said biological bases course because ✨why not✨
I don't know how many have you heard about the case that happened in the RGKar MCH.
Dr. Moumita Debnath, 2nd-year PGT, Dept. of chest medicine, former MBBS student of College of Medicine and JNM Hospital, Kalyani, was raped and murdered brutally on duty in the seminar hall.
Protests by government colleges of West Bengal are being held, but that's not enough because a doctor who is on duty faced such a heinous crime. The world isn't safe, and still, men dare to ask why women choose bears over men.
Sign this petition to bring some justice to Dr. Moumita Debnath.
