I know we all make fun of Cale for sabotaging his own slacker life, but honestly given his life experiences, it kind of makes sense.
Beyond the obvious fact that he’s a good person who’s going to help where help is needed, it was also his responsibility to do so for around a decade.
Like, I’m pretty sure one of the reasons he gives for why he needs to do all this is because conflict would inevitably reach his doorstep and cause issues for him. In the shelter before he joins team 1, he wasn’t actively involved in the fighting… then the fighting came to him, destroying the shelter with massive amounts of casualties.
And unless I’m misremembering the side chapter, he did try to take a day off as team leader krs (for cjs and lsh’s death anniversary)—and then the company called him in to deal with a crisis.
So his life experiences do kind of align with the “I have to fix everything before I can have a day off” mentality
Jin Guangshan: There’s nothing you or I can do to bring Wei Wuxian back now.
Wei Wuxian: He has RISEN, babygirl!
Jin Guangshan: FUCK!!!!
big fan of characters whose first and greatest indicator of something being deeply wrong with them is how chill they are and how quickly they rebound
It's actually funny how humans decided "fuck living in caves with all these creepy crawlies", got out of caves, built houses that have all the nice parts of a cave without any of the yucky parts, and then all the little bugs and spiders and other creepy crawly creatures that used to also live in caves thought "sweet, new and improved caves" and moved right back in with us.
god rest his soul. he’s not dead, he just needs a break and only god can get him out of that shituation.
please god, put him down (for a nap)
can’t imagine how Allen’s conversation with the Bookman clan is going to go upon waking up. They’re pissed at him because they couldn’t find past!lavi’s body. Past!lavi didn’t leave a body because he basically absorbed it into past!allen’s.
Imagine having to explain that. How do possibly explain that.
modern (no powers) au where crowned clown is a tapeworm that Allen formed an emotional attachment to
I think if Allen makes it out of this alive and sanity intact, he’s gonna have a rock solid sense of identity. Fuck an identity crisis after all that nonsense. If I went through that, you can bet your ass I would be unshakable in who I am. I may not know exactly who I am, but this is it. Fuck you, this identity was made for me and by me. Yes it’s comprised of multiple others and manipulated for nefarious purposes, but it’s what we’re rocking with. Mind your own business.
Sometimes I think about Allen’s habit of making terrible horrible deals with the devil, not asking any of the terms… but also they always come at very vulnerable times.
the first time, he’s dying and all of his comrades have been wiped out. The second, the only person in the world he loves and who loved him has just died (and he’s like 10, max). The third time, he’s just found out that his whole life’s a lie and he’s probably a construct—though to be fair, he was kind of given the terms on that one.
but I guess that is sometimes a characteristic of deals with the devil is that they come when desperate
Do I think these characters from tcf would say/follow through with this quote: “because I do believe in killing the messenger. do you know why? because it sends a message.”
cale: yes, I think he’d say it. Depending on who was injured and if the messenger was a part of the scheme, he would follow through (but not before torture).
alver: no
choi han: still no. he might kill the messenger, but I don’t think he’d do it to send a message
ron: he’s not saying because he’s a professional, but he’s absolutely doing it
lee soohyuk: … unsure. He’s introduced as a nice guy, but cale's scheming and ruthless plots came from somewhere.
choi jungsoo: no, it seems like he has a pretty solid moral compass. Then again, I haven’t caught with part 2, so…
mary: no
rosalyn: no
hannah: absolutely
the white star: obviously, yes
cage: no
taylor: no
clopeh (?): yes, he’s positively insane
roan: maybe? I don’t think he’d say it or do it to send a message, but if someone told him a member of his family was killed, he’d kill someone
on: no. maybe if she continues training as an assassin, but ron and vicross don’t seem to be encouraging that
hong: similar to on, but I’m more firmly on the side of no for him
demon underling: we found out who’s been raiding the territory! It’s polyamorous Lou Binghe.
demon canon fodder: that little fuck! I want him dead! I want his wife dead! I want his wife dead! I want his wife dead! I want his wife de— *repeats ad nauseum*
