So I’ve been teaching 6th grade since January, and one thing about my female students which made me upset to realize is how many of them are obsessed with skincare. I've heard the girls in my class discussing the EYE CREAM they use. Like tf you mean eye cream? You're ELEVEN!!! I'm a decade older than you and have never even touched eye cream!! The most skincare a middle schooler needs is cleanser and moisturizer, maybe some acne cream. Who tf is selling you all this other stuff? Who tf told you you needed all this?

It hurts me to see. Their brains are too young for these types of insecurities 😭 no 11 year old girl should be obsessed with wrinkles, I wanna beat tf out of whatever tiktoker made them believe they needed skin that perfect

Finally feel like I can say something coherent, so here goes... I say this without a shred of exaggeration: Akira Toriyama was legitimately one of the most important creative figures of the last 50 years. His work, especially Dragon Ball, has influenced SO much even outside its own medium. Movies, TV, cartoons, comic books, video games, MUSIC... all of it. You can see his fingerprints in so many other works. Even now, artists and writers, voice actors and animators, musicians and game devs are all mourning him and reflecting on the impact he had on their own work. Titans of anime and manga are sharing in this pain. The craziest thing about this though? The humility he had in spite of it. He was always reluctant to be in the spotlight, preferred to keep his head down and just work, never really worried that much about public perception of himself. Part of what makes him such an icon, man. Losing him is losing a piece of our shared history. It's something that resonates deep in the hearts of everyone his work touched. This is just... such a loss. And I can't even begin to imagine what his family is going through right now. Praying for them all. Rest in Peace to a literal Legend, an absolute Icon, and a personal inspiration in more ways than I could ever express properly.

RIP Akira Toriyama (1955-2024)

I say this with a heaviness in my heart and tears in my eyes. But our beloved Akria Toriyama (known for Dragon Ball series, Dr.Slump, and so much more) has sadly passed away at the age of 68 on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma. May he Rest In Peace knowing he changed many generations of kids, including mine, love for anime even to this day.

I just heard the news and I just can't believe Toriyama passed away.. It's too sudden, too unexpected, something I was definitely NOT prepared to see today and I think I need time to fully process this

RIP Akira Toriyama. Thank you for the great stories and memories you have created for us. Thank you for everything and the huge impact you had and still have on me, you will be dearly missed

RIP Akira Toriyama (1955 - 2024) You were an absolute legend and you bestowed upon the world one of Earth's greatest heroes. A private dude who crafted colorful worlds with even more memorable characters. Now just make sure you don't fall off Snake Way!

Okay maybe like the first 3 years of Splinters death they don’t make any jokes but after that they will take any opportunity to joke about it.

These boys have been through so much they have to cope somehow. 2012 Leo is saying the most out of this joke. These boys are extreme sassy in 2012 and I refuse to believe they don’t try to make their situation lighter as a way to cope.

So if anyone wants to make a crossover of the 2012 boys constantly joking about their dead dad and their counterparts are just listening in stunned horror I am READY for that.

As much as I’d love to have a wholesome TMNT Crossover where instead of having to face the some worlds-ending horrors they all take a giant turtle-pile nap (because damn all these turtles need one) I know it can never be.

Because realistically, that sort of crossover would end with 2012!Raph trying to smother 2003! Raph with his pillow for snoring like a chainsaw.

Whenever people bring up the "can X character beat Goku?" hypothetical, it always revolves around modern DB power, like SSJ4 and Ultra Instinct, which makes sense since theyre the recent top tier power levels in a shonen sense. but the fact is, Goku aint been at his A-game since OG DB. Since like, you gotta remember, Dragonball started as another Toriyama gag manga, similar to Dr Slump.

Goku is a gag character who transitioned to a shonen fighter since fighting was more fun.

THAT is terrifying. Goku can still apply to gag manga rules if he wants to. Bullets have no effect on him, but he will scream in agony if you hit him with a small rock.

Goku is like an anime Hannah Montana, best of both worlds, a jack of all trades. He can be a cheery funny gag character when he wants, and a serious fighting protagonist when he wants. Like, one of his most famous fighting styles is biting people. He bites Frieza, he bites Buu, he bites Beerus, he bites Whis.

Goku is one of the strongest fighters in all of anime, he can take the punch of a God, or all the condensed evil in hell and not even flinch, but his wife Chi Chi, Bulma and Arale can whoop his ass because its funny.

Basically the answer to any "can X character beat Goku?" revolves around the answer "would it be funny?"

Thanos from MCU? There's nothing funny there at all, Thanos loses.

SpongeBob? Incredibly funny, SpongeBob would blow a bubble that looks like a bus at Goku and he'd be launched back past the horizon and you'd see a nuclear explosion happen.

And like the most stereotypical ones of Saitama and Luffy, thats like a draw, they all have the half and half of shonen and funny. They beat the shit out of eachother and then the next scene is them bandaged and bruised in an Applebee's chowing down on endless appetizers together, then immediately back to fighting.

i’m going to go on a small rant about dragon ball super Goku

so the first ever dragon ball show i watched was dragon ball super cause at that time all i had was a school chromebook and an illegal website (😭) which had very limited anime to watch.

they only had dragon ball super. no dragon ball, dragon ball z or gt. so yeah, i started off getting into the dbz fandom by watching the worst series in the entire franchise (according to other people)

at the beginning i was super confused, like, “what?? he has a son? a wife?? two sons?? am i missing something?” but i pushed through and i absolutely fell in love with dbs.

it was that series that got me into dragon ball and everything, and i have a huge amount of respect towards it. it has some pretty good arcs, especially the TOP arc. but as i went back towards the beginning, watched og db and dbz, i started to realize that dbz Goku was not the same as dbs Goku.

Goku. isn’t. stupid.

well yeah, he’s still kinda dumb (and i find that absolutely adorable), but not to the point where he doesn’t understand the most basic concepts of anything that isn’t fighting.

i refuse to believe that his level of understanding is that of like a 5 year old toddler.

so to make super a bit more bearable, i have a little headcanon.

Goku just acts dumb because he finds everyone’s reactions hilarious.

like in ep 42, where Beerus disguises himself as Monaka (probably filler but still), i like to think he pretended not to know that Beerus was actually in the costume and internally had a wheezing fit seeing the destroyer put on an uncomfortable outfit.

actually, i think he just went along with the entire “Monaka is the strongest warrior i’ve ever fought” thing because it’s funny seeing Beerus panic

also Chichi’s probably in on his little secret too.
