One day a man goes missing in Gotham. Nobody special, just another unlucky lowlife schmuck who owed money to the wrong people. The kind of guy with nobody in the world to miss him. Bruce and Babs are sharing notes when Cassandra wanders in. When she notices a picture of the guy's face her eyes harden in a way they're very unused to and she insists they put her on the case. She very pointedly asks for his name before pulling down her mask and leaping out the window.
They don't see her again for the next several days. She tears through the city's criminal underbelly with an unmatched ferocity. She's always driven but this concerns even Bruce. If experience has taught them anything though, it's that there's no talking to her when she's like this so they can do nothing but wait and hope.
Eventually she puts enough pressure on that somebody gives her a location. Not an hour later she's untying the man from a chair in a dank cellar in a dive bar on the outskirts of the city. He's not exactly on the right side of law so when he pulls the blindfold from over his eyes and sees a Bat standing right in front of him, especially this bat, he yelps and recoils in fear. Then she hugs him. She hugs him tight and holds on long enough that he forgets his fear and instead starts to feel distinctly awkward. Then just as quickly she vanishes, leaving him alone and too stunned for words.
He doesn't remember, but then, she never expected him to. It was years ago after all. A cold night, even for winter in Gotham when a petty crook decided the girl huddled on a street corner with no home to go back to looked like she needed that hot cup of cocoa more than he did. She remembered though.
i love when only some of the leaguers know billy's identity. like dude, batman and manhunter know who you are and neither of them give a shit, why are you still hiding from plastic man?
I like to think that regardless of whether Batman knows Cap is a kid or not, he notices he has a really hard time sitting still during meetings and is fully prepared to deal with that
Shoutout to Cassandra Cain for having two sets of parents and getting differing forms of issues from every last one.
David Cain is… David. Worst guy ever. He loved Cass, but in the worst toxic girldad way known to man.
Shiva was absent for most of Cassandra’s life and views her more as a person of interest who shares her blood than her daughter.
Batman at first projected onto her as someone who was as dedicated as him to The Mission without considering her feelings. He gets better, but, man…
Barbara was by far the best parental figure, but she wasn’t perfect, unable to completely understand or connect with Cass.
We love complicated parental dynamics and Cass is out here playing gotta catch them all.
Somebody just made me realise Green Lantern is literally a magical girl.
First his power comes from a ring, a classic magical girl thing to have an accessory that transforms you.
He has a main colour theme as any other magical girl has.
He has a costume that subtly GLOWS
AND HE HAS AN OATH!!! What’s more magical girl than an oath/catchphrase!?
I never used to check my email. Then I discovered AO3
I feel like Mary would be the one to give a shovel talk if Billy ever got a romantical partner (not likely cause aroace billy for the win!)
Like, I want her to be the protective one. Let her be the one to stand behind Billy and menacingly glare at whoever is being slightly rude.
POV: you see your coworker —who is basically had all the sunshine in the world packed into the body of a buff dude— get so incredibly rage filled when he saw some random civilians being taken hostage that the villain’s entire fortified base was destroyed in a matter of booming lighting filled minutes. And then once your coworker’s eyes stop glowing from pure rage, he rushes over to these civilians and starts to cry from overwhelming relief.
And you think, oh, okay, those are his kids! But no, you hear in his worried babbling this fully grown man calling the little girl “sis” as the two kids are trying to reassure him while they look completely unfazed by the entire situation
I need more fics where the JL witness Captain Marvel (Shazam) get angry for the first time.
Like that dude would be absolutely terrifying.
Imagine, JL are on the regular mission and suddenly it’s revealed that the villain has two kids tied up and gagged as hostages (Freddy and Mary)
And the JL don’t even get to react before lightning starts to crackle off of the Captain and his eyes are practically glowing. And this dude just starts absolutely TEARING through every defence almost as fast as the flash and with more strength than superman. And if it weren’t for his morals you know he’d kill the villain on the spot just for laying a finger on his family.
So JL are just standing still in shock as Captain Marvel’s rage turns off immediately as soon as he’s with those random kids, bonus points if he’s on the verge of tears of relief that they are okay.
Unrelated but why does he look like that?? 😭
Vote for who would win in a fight to the death!
She/HerAutistic, queer, and (according to all the unfinished fics in my docs) an aspiring fanfic author!
