world war 3 was on the line, jason
I need more fics where the JL witness Captain Marvel (Shazam) get angry for the first time.
Like that dude would be absolutely terrifying.
Imagine, JL are on the regular mission and suddenly it’s revealed that the villain has two kids tied up and gagged as hostages (Freddy and Mary)
And the JL don’t even get to react before lightning starts to crackle off of the Captain and his eyes are practically glowing. And this dude just starts absolutely TEARING through every defence almost as fast as the flash and with more strength than superman. And if it weren’t for his morals you know he’d kill the villain on the spot just for laying a finger on his family.
So JL are just standing still in shock as Captain Marvel’s rage turns off immediately as soon as he’s with those random kids, bonus points if he’s on the verge of tears of relief that they are okay.
Love the idea that the rest of the batfam never knows what to expect with Cass and Dick. Monday they're a united eldest sibling front against Bruce's nonsense. Tuesday Cass walks into the cave and decks Dick in the face for reasons unknown to everyone else. Wednesday she's crying and he's comforting her. Thursday he's grumbling to Tim, Duke and Damian about how he can't be the only good older sibling example and it's not fucking fair that she gets away with all the bullshit she does. Friday they're back to being a united front against Bruce, who they've decided is the root of all their issues. Saturday they're sparring but it's so intense half the family wonder if they're fighting for real again. Sunday they work like a well oiled machine and solve 23 cases in one night. Monday the cycle repeats.
Captain Marvel in the Watchtower rec room.
Green Lantern (Hal) & Flash: *giggling at something on GL’s phone*
Audio coming from the phone: *bang*“Ow!”—*clang* “Ouch!”—*thump* “ack!”—*thud*“Ow …I think that left a dent…”
Captain Marvel, clearly annoyed: “you’re really watching that again?”
Green Lantern: “sorry dude! It’s just so funny!”
Captain Marvel: *turns around to walk out the room but bangs his head on the top of the door frame*
Flash: *falls out of his chair laughing*
Okay but some in the JL has definitely gone through the Watchtower security cam footage and made a compilation video of Captain Marvel banging his head on the top of a doorway.
And I’m pretty sure we all know that he must do that a lot.
Thinking about Cassandra Cain and what the name Cain means in a biblical context.
In the Torah (I'm Jewish, so the Jewish interpretations of the text are what I'm familiar with - if any Muslims or Christians out there have different perspectives, I'd love to hear them!) Cain was a farmer, working the land to raise crops, while his brother Abel was a shepherd, raising sheep for wool and meat. They both offer sacrifices to G-d, but while Abel offers the best portion of the meat from his flock, Cain offers the worst of his crops. G-d accepts Abel's offering, but rejects Cain's. In a jealous rage, Cain kills his brother, committing the first murder and being exiled for his crime. He is destined to walk the Earth, visibly marked as an outcast, poisoning the soil he once worked in and bringing ruin to the world around him.
For Cassandra to carry this name is very interesting. It lines up perfectly with how she sees herself, especially in her earlier stories - desperately trying to please a father who she loves and fears in equal measure, until she finally does the unforgivable to earn his love. Forever tainted by a murder she committed when she was young, unable to escape it, destined to forever be an outcast from the people around her. She believes that she is a bringer of destruction, doomed to bring ruin to every life she touches; that she carries a mark upon her forehead that everyone can see, branding her forever as a murderer. She has sinned, and she can never escape that.
The blood of her victim cries out from the ground, and the mark of Cain is forever branded upon her forehead. She can never escape the curse of being eternally an outsider. She can never be clean of the blood on her hands. She can never be forgiven for what she has done.
He stores the fan in the place where his spleen used to be.
I bet wearing spandex in summer is no fun
Bonus: summer suits!?
Mary should have one sided beef with one random hero
I want her to intensely glare at someone across the room, a glare that rivals Batman’s, and I want the person she has beef with to not know why
Like, give her a Superman and Booster Gold level grudge
Sins of the Father
Canonically we know that Cass pictures what Steph would tell her in those dire moments where she needs to make sense of her emotions
But what if she pictures Steph in those not-so-dire moments too. Like Steph is just the stopper in all her impulsive thoughts
Cass: *sniffs a bath bomb*
Cass: Ooh. Smells like cupcakes.
Steph's voice in her head: Don't.
Cass: *lifts it to her mouth*
Steph with a metaphorical spray bottle: No! Bad girl! Put that down!
Cass, pouting: Fine.
OP don’t just leave this in tags
