Stephen King's book On Writing is a great read, part biographical, part a look on his career, and part writing guide, reading this it's easy to see why his prose is so approachable. Even if you're not a Stephen King fan this book can at least be top tier beach reading material.

I actually own the Hawkgirl statue in the background!

So I Am Replaying Mac’s Route, And I Looked Around Her Room More And I Noticed She Had Some Figures
So I Am Replaying Mac’s Route, And I Looked Around Her Room More And I Noticed She Had Some Figures
So I Am Replaying Mac’s Route, And I Looked Around Her Room More And I Noticed She Had Some Figures

So I am replaying Mac’s route, and I looked around her room more and I noticed she had some figures and I looked a bit closer and thought I recognised one, so took a screenshot and zoomed in then compared it to what I thought it was. SHE HAS A GERALT FIGURE FROM THE WITCHER!!!!! The Witcher 3 is one of my favourite video games and I also love the books and comics. Knowing Mac is into comics and Geralt is known as The White Wolf, this really amused me. I wonder what artist sneaked that in and if they have been waiting to see if anyone notices. This is one reason why I love Lovestruck, their attention to detail is incredible.

Should You Take the Cryptid on a Roadtrip?

Mothman: Sure, as long as you avoid the Las Vegas strip.  We don’t need a repeat of the last time.

Bigfoot: Definitely, they make an excellent camping companion and are an avid bird watcher. Just be prepared for lots of your vacation photos to turn out blurry.

Loch Ness Monster:  I mean, if you can figure out how to transport a giant lake monster safely down I-80, go for it.

Chupacabra: Has this weird thing where it only wants to stay at B&Bs, particularly ones attached to farms.

Fresno Nightcrawler: It will literally pay you to take it somewhere else. Have you seen Fresno?

Flatwoods Monster: Super into glamping, really wants someone to share their gourmet s’more recipes with. Just don’t let them wander into nearby campsites, it seems to freak people out.

Jersey Devil: Keeps saying they know a great campsite deep in the pine barrens. It’s just a little farther. Don’t worry that the forest seems to be getting darker. It’ll be fine.

Jackalope: It will mimic the voice of your GPS and send you off a cliff or worse, to Fresno. Better not.

Beast of Bray Road:  NO

Fantasy Guide to Worldbuilding

Language and Culture

You have your land and your people. Now onto what kind of people they are and what they sound like. Culture is the greatest worldbuilding tool you need to master. Language is extra spice.

Culture

Culture is a collection of customs and attitudes formed over time. Culture forms around a land, metaphorical cling film if you will. Land influences culture.

Entertainment: What amuses your people? Bull fighting? Gladiators? Tasteful plays?

Food and drink: What food is common? Is there a delicacy popular in the region? Pasta is Italy’s delicacy. Beer is a common drink in Germany

Taboo: The no-no of society. What can’t be spoken about or done? In Harry Potter, the name of Voldemort is taboo. In our world, for most of us anyway, incest and cannibalism are the major taboos

Myths: Are stories that explain things without evidence from science. The Egyptians thought that a dung-beatle rolled the sun across the sky. Celtic cultures believe that a death is sounded by the scream of a banshee.

Games: What games are played by children or adults? Are card games popular or board games? Is it popular to watch games or gamble on them? How often are they fixed?

Traditions: What do your people do? Do they have holidays? In Incan tradition, human sacrifices were common. On a light note, the Greeks held the Olympics ever few years. Is there traditional ceremonies or words one says on a daily basis?

Values: The Spartans valued Spartan behaviour. Renaissance culture valued skill and honour. What is the important concepts of your people? Strength? Honour? Intelligence? Do people get treated differently when they don’t follow the values of the land?

Meeting and greeting: How do people say hello? Is there a word or saying? A signal? And goodbye?

Fantasy Guide To Worldbuilding

Language

Language is the heart of a land. You don’t need to create a large lexicon of made up words and rules. You can. I did once, it was fun. You don’t need to show the language in every line. A word here and there can add spice to a story. Language effects accents and way of speaking.

Side note: “Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.” A country without a language is a country without a soul. Ireland is a county with two main languages: Irish (Gaelige) and English. Colonization almost stamped out the language. The Irish language is difficult to learn but it brings pride to me as Irish girl to know parts of it. It breaks my heart not to be fluent in my native language. Language is not just words. It is the heart and soul of a land.

Your Fave Magic Babe Is Now Available On My Redbubble Store As Prints And Other Items ✨

Your fave magic babe is now available on my redbubble store as prints and other items ✨

Sigh so here’s the other story – my condition right now is chronic and crippling severe, and so far medical help has failed and other options aren’t covered by my insurance. I live in a very difficult home environment too, so being in bed all day is causing problems and I don’t think I can get better on my own. In short, everything is a catastrophe.

I’m working on commissions from May but I am very slow, can barely function, so I need to see a doctor soon or I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to do art at all. No patreon, no game, no giveaway, no nothing. I am scared to death and have been holding it in inside and trying not to panic but I am.

In short, I…need help.

I would be extremely grateful to anyone who buys my prints and merch, since I don’t have the luxury of taking on any more commissioned art, but I seriously do need to help my father afford my medical expenses. He’s trying his best and I’m scared he’s going to lose everything because of me.

I’m putting my ko-fi up here as well.  Donations are extremely appreciated!

I apologize, and thank you so much for hearing me out. You all have been so kind to me.

Hey Everyone! It’s Been A While Since I Made A Masterpost, And I Recently Found Some Good Health-related

hey everyone! it’s been a while since i made a masterpost, and i recently found some good health-related apps on the play store that i thought to consolidate into a post.

all these apps are available for both ios and android users! i’ve also grouped similar apps together.

fyi: these apps are not intended to replace your therapist/counselor – they only act as an aid. the apps listed here are those that seemed credible enough and had good ratings on the play store. some may help you and some might not. since i don’t have depression or panic attacks, i can’t speak for the efficacy of some of the apps here.

For stress, depression, anxiety, or panic attacks:

Rootd: exercises to help with anxiety and panic attacks, as well as lessons understand anxiety. it also includes emergency contact if you need help and a personal stats page.

Self-help Anxiety Management (SAM): exercises to help you manage your anxiety. you can also build your ‘anxiety tookit’ and chat with other SAM users.

PanicShield: for those who have panic attacks. it has a breathing tool to calm you down, information about panic attacks, and two techniques to train your mind to have fewer panic attacks (based on two types of therapy).

MoodSpace: short, interactive mood workouts that may help treat depression.

InnerHour: a self-help app for stress, anxiety or depression. it has small daily tasks, helps you deal with distressing situations, helps control your stressful thinking patterns, and has a relief box.

Moodpath: an interactive two-week depression and anxiety screening program that tracks your emotional and physical wellbeing and generates a personalized mental health assessment that you can discuss with therapists.

Calm Harm: tasks to help you resist or manage the urge to self-harm.

To generally improve your life:

Youper: conversations with a bot to improve your mood and emotional health. it also has mindfulness and meditation exercises, a mood tracker, journal and symptoms tracker.

Wysa: similar to Youper, Wysa is a chatbot who reacts to the emotions you express to help with anxiety, stress, low mood, anger or sleep issues.

Primed Mind: a life coach to help you reach your personal goals and improve yourself. it can help you build habits, calm down, fall asleep quickly, and study effectively.

Headspace: meditation and mindfulness exercises

Just Rain: a soothing audiovisual rain simulator where you can control the degree of rain sounds.

CHOCOLATE PUMPKIN CUPS❤️ Ingredients🍎: CHOCOLATE LAYERS ½ Cup Melted Coconut Oil ½ Cup Cacao

CHOCOLATE PUMPKIN CUPS❤️ Ingredients🍎: CHOCOLATE LAYERS ½ cup melted coconut oil ½ cup cacao powder 2 tablespoons maple syrup PUMPKIN LAYER 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil ½ cup pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling) 3 tablespoons almond butter (or your favorite nut butter) 2 tablespoons maple syrup ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon Prep👩🏻‍🍳: Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners. Combine all ingredients for chocolate layer in a small bowl. Mix until well combined. I found that measuring out about ½ tablespoon (or a little less) into each cupcake liner was just enough to fill both chocolate layers. These layers are very thin! I made 10 chocolate cups. You may have to spread out the chocolate so it fills the whole liner. Freeze for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the pumpkin layer. Combine all ingredients for pumpkin layer in a small bowl. Mix until well combined. I measured out about 1 tablespoon for each cup. Layer over the chocolate and freeze for 20 minutes or until firm. Finish by layering the leftover chocolate over the pumpkin layer and freeze for an hour or until firm. Transfer cups to a sealed container and store in freezer. Source: the glowing fridge

I'm so excited to read this! Do you want a queer, racially diverse, plus size friendly, and all around loving adaptation of Nancy Drew in comic form? Check it out! If you don't have a comic shop to hop to you can purchase this comic digitally from Amazon or Comixology!

Dynamite Entertainment has announced a new series, Nancy Drew, by Kelly Thompson and Jenn St-Onge. The teen sleuth’s latest daring adventure debuts in June, with cover variant artwork by the astonishing assemblage of Tula Lotay, Marguerite Sauvage, Annie Wu, and series artist Jenn St-Onge.

In the new series, Nancy Drew is seventeen and good at everything… especially solving crimes. But her totally-in-control-and-obviously-running-perfectly-smooth-(but-not-really) life hits a snag when a mysterious message drags her back to the hometown she left behind. There she’ll have to find out which of her friends are still her friends, which are enemies, and who exactly is trying to kill her…and (hopefully) stop them before they succeed. Nancy, the classic master teen mystery-cracker, will be shown in a way you’ve never seen before, by a creative team with a huge respect for the original tales, and what she could mean for a modern audience.
