I wrote a flash fic of the proposal if anyone is interested it’s extremely dumb. (Also yes he tried to quote LBH in his vows and Shen yuan nearly went off on him for it but then saw he was crying and also broke down from how happy she was)

Oh noo!! 😭😭 I can see how that might happen, though. My blog has a good bit of art under the Nie Huaisang tag, none of which should be JGY-critical (personally, I’m willing to criticise JGY’s actions in an analysis sense, but I don’t do character bashing unless a character is truly despicable, and JGY is just not that! NHS wasn’t completely UNJUSTIFIED in his actions, but his actions were not inherently less “bad” than JGY. JGY simply did what he did for himself, while NHS did it for his brother. Even if you look at it from a selfish vs selfless standpoint, they both tricked the people who trusted them, endangered loved ones, and both had complex and morally grey reasons to do what they did. They would be viewed as having similar arcs and compared more often I believe, if it weren’t for the fact their conflict was WITH each other, and not someone else.)

My friend Lemon (BearFox_1022 on ao3) is also soon going to be uploading a fic in their NHS-centric series “Life With A Little Luck” that has some excellent JGY content that made me SOB (beta life is fun).

i'm also sad to say that my feelings on nhs have soured a bit in recent months--not because of the character, to be clear, but because of some really frustrating and unpleasant encounters with nhs stans here and on the mdzs subreddit, so it's not his fault, i know!--but i would like to rediscover the stuff that i did used to love about his character. so if you have any nice fanart or fic recs*, i would love to see them!

* my only request for these is that jgy isn't treated like the scum of the earth or some evil caricature of himself, since it's very hard for me to enjoy fic or fanart where i can tell that the author/artist isn't extending him the same grace or compassion offered to the rest of the cast.

imagine Mobei-jun and Shen Qingqiu end up out drinking together, and eventually SQQ gets drunk enough that he breaks and goes on a tirade about how much he likes Shang Qinghua and all the great things about him. Mobei-jun is just like “vry understandable finally someone sees the vision. Wanna babytrap him.”

Somehow, they work out a plan for this, but they’re both terrible at flirting that all their plans to get Qinghua to sleep with them for babytrapping purposes are just awful. neither has any clue what foreplay is or flirting is. They’re too hot and autistic for it. So sqh is ends up confused and a little scared.

But how do you improve a skill? Practise, obviously. So, reluctantly, MBJ and SQQ begin practising… with each other. SQH somehow learns and is like “oh well im happy for you!”, and that’s when they panic, bc “NO THIS ISNT- WE WANT YOU CARNALLY THIS WAS PART OF THE PLAN” “WAIT. PLAN?!?!?!” “Qingqiu is pregnant.” “WHAT.”

Everyone is shocked. Mostly Shen Qingqiu. But also the maid who was passing by and is extremely confused. Either way, this pregnancy is clearly SQH’s fault. And since he created the world, he’s basically the father, so he should take responsibility. As should MBJ, of course. Wouldn’t it be a shame if they all had to get married because of this? Such a damn shame…. (Cut to Moshen high-fiving under the table)
