I CRIED THIS CHAPTER MADE ME CRY
bsd ch. 121.5 - a mysterious thing called 'the heart' yeah it was a good chapter i liked it (´꒳`)
this chapter broke me :(
I wouldn’t really consider the excessive ‘deaths’ (i say this with heavy air quotes) in bsd ‘death bating’. i’m pretty sure asigiri wants us to believe they’re not really dead and considering the most recent chapter this was confirmed. can we stop assuming that every time a character dies and it’s unbelievable that it’s ‘death baiting’? it’s literally just foreshadowing you media illiterate fool. on another tangent, i love how much of a stinky little manipulative liar fyodor is.
Was just scrolling to get myself to wake up for school and this is how I find out? This is how I get spoiled? AND THEY STILL EXPECT ME TO GO TO SCHOOL AFTERWARDS?!?

Atsushi didn't have to die for akutagawa
No war happened
Amd Bram is still alive
And the ADA is alive too
Amd fyordor died in that helicopter
And everything is fine 👍
(I scream as they drag me away to the mental ward)
I KNOW HE'S HAVING THE WORST DAY OF HIS LIFE BUT OH MY GOD HE LOOKS SO PRETTY
I need whatever atsushi is smoking so that I can hallucinate dazai like this
I'm literally shaking
CRAZY SHIT IS HAPPENING IN BSD
shin soukoku not shins soukoku because only one of them has their shins rn
the greatest love story ever told
Crack concept: When Atsushi got cut in half part of him remained in the airport and just grows into another Atsushi.
Akutugawa’s just staring in disbelief and Fyodor’s completely losing his cool because you’re supposed to be dead!
And Atsushi 2.0 is just like man you tried to kill my partner and won’t give me shoes? Rude.
Atsushi the original stands in the 4th dimension missing half his body like well that’s inconvenient.
but i don't know how to walk toward the past or future! — it's simple. feel strongly. that's what you do when you want to experience the past.
Something I find really beautiful about this chapter is Atsushi subconsciously finding his tendency to rely on his emotions as a strength — he had no logical conclusion as to why the ADA members were alive, but instinctively, in his heart, he knew.
The same for Akutagawa — he knew that Akutagawa would remember, in his heart, with the doubt of his mind. I believe it was a quote Atsushi had said earlier, but I believe it's the core of his character — "The head may err, but never the blood".
The heart is a mysterious thing, because it makes sense without any logical basis. The heart is a trust, a senseless trust with a sense of clarity. Dazai in Atsushi's subconscious saying, "Feel strongly. That's what you do when you want to experience the past", brings me to believe that Atsushi has become better at living. Atsushi, by only living in the present, has become the only person fit to defy the space, because the present in the agreement of the past and future.
In other words, I believe Atsushi is the heart.
Just saw a comment that said in that moment Akutugawa realised someone thought he deserved to live.
I’m done.
No because… because Akutugawa like Atsushi has always wanted that kind of approval.
And Atsushi may not have died but even he knew it was all a hunch at that point when he pushed Akutugawa aside.
He saved him.
Used his own words against him because back on the boat Akutugawa decided that Atsushi deserved to live.
And now Atsushi’s decided he should too.
The conversation between Atsushi and Dazai in this chapter is so important, because this is clearly not Dazai, at least not the real one. The real Dazai is still in Mersault, almost on the other side of the world, this version that Atsushi is talking to is just the same hallucination from the last chapter, a fragment of Atsushi's subconscious taking the form of someone he trusts, respects and admires to give him the information he needs to move forward, even if it is information that he already knows but does not have enough confidence in himself to follow. The conversation at the end of the chapter is not only about the dimension of Ame-no-Gozen, but also about Atsushi himself and his relationship with his past. In order to reach the core of Ame-no-Gozen, Atsushi must learn to navigate between the past and the future, both in the dimension of the divine being and in his own history. I believe that from this, Atsushi will be able to discover more about the tiger and about his own past, perhaps find out something about his parents, and about his connection with the book and Fyodor, but for that to happen he needs to let himself confront his past, and understand (or accept) his place and role in this world.
BUNGOU STRAY DOGS CHAPTER 121.5 WILL BE WRITTEN ON MY GRAVESTONE
How many times do you think atsushi wished he could’ve done this in the original battle? How long do you think he probably ran the scenario over and over in his head on how he could have saved Akutagawa and now he finally got the chance
akutagawa remembering who he is by having atsushi die for him like he died for atsushi before. the look in atsushi's eyes being the same look akutagawa gave him. akutagawa's scream as everything came back to him. atsushi screaming his name as soon as he saw him on the realm. the fact that now they can stand side to side because they know they would die to save the other and the other would do the exact same. a life for a life. a life for a life. a life for a lif
the thing is not only akutagawa regaining his memories by having atsushi throw himself to save him like he did, but also that akutagawa's eyes have never been more clear
atsushi seeing dazai and dazai telling him "i don't know anything, you do" is very important because this is just a clarification of what we already knew: atsushi is intelligent and capable. he holds the answers within himself. at the end of the day, he will be the one to save everyone, and it will be because he was always capable of doing so. even when he himself didn't believe it
I can't believe Asagiri confirmed that sskk invented romance
argh thats such cool physical world building and such a good way to illustrate it omgg
the last line being "feel strongly / that's what you do when you want to experience the past" is so important to me genuinelyyyyyyy like. god. god. the dead authors manga for people who are bad at living. the lack of a solid time setting when it comes to bsd in a very deliberate way. the things that asagiri is always always saying about death as a transient state through bsd. fiction and emotion and death and the aftershocks that these dead authors and their literature leave across history.
this is so important actually. the image and voice of dazai, one of the smartest people atsushi knows, manifested by atsushi's mind telling him that he knows something dazai doesn't. he can do what dazai can't. he's smart enough to save everyone, despite his doubts about himself. and he knows it, even if he needs a voice that isn't his own to say it to him.
thank u asagiri for proving I can believe in you and people were WRONG when they keep ragging on the current arc and oh my god IM GOING CRAZY. more coherent thoughts later maybe.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THAT????
