Had the idea to set up my sonic au like an ask blog. I know that probably sounds like the work would be all up to you guys for just short text answered but it would be more like the white Diamond au blog where itβs kinda story driven and has art and stuff and Iβd keep info going with smurfs and my friends if no one had any asks in or knew what to ask to get the info I wanna give
That also means I might save some peopleβs asks for if I wanted to use them strategically to show the world and characters
I still want to do my big plot comic but this could be dipping my toes in the au waters on tumblr without commuting and introducing everyone to the au in Vite sized pieces
But idk itβs a half baked idea rn

I just realized that the Sonic au I started awhile ago and never posted would take place at the same time as the Zombot virus outbreak and before(during?) Frontiers
That means that my Robotnik didnβt make a zombot virus and Mr Tinker (or the equivalent) would never have existed
And I feel like Iβve robbed myself of pure gold

So I redesigned the egg boy, why? Because I wanted to draw classic Eggman shape but four. His costume boring for my style. I like detailed designs π€·ββοΈ.
So I combined some of my fav details of various eggmen. Heβs still the usual 6ft 300 IQ mad scientist we all love.
Also hes straight up ginger. Idk if he is canonically but his mustache does look like a rusty brown in game so he might be. But mine definitely is.

Just read Volume #55 and OMG we got so much cool action and posses for eggdaddy. I was squealing the entire time I read this comic, I just LOVE the way this artist drew him! It's amazing to see him as evil as always. π₯π₯π₯

SOME THOUGHTS that drivin me nuts ...
You know I think Shards character could have need so much more character development. Like for all the trauma and insecurities he had/has to endure ... in a world, which hold (atleast a little) grudge against artifical life ... due to Eggman.
He was a famous killer robot. Mocking animals ... maybe killing them?? I know Sonic universe ... kid friendly and stuff, but these sharp fingers aren't there for nothing ... He might was causing a bad future, where every living thing is a robotic slave ... he saw how the Eggman Empire could have been. And now he tries everything to adjust to the "good side". Finding a place in the world. Seeking for forgiveness and a chance to prove himself.
Maybe he even can't move on from this. Alwayd playing the brave clown, while he's actually scared and frustrated. He probably stuck in his past. Always confronting himself, blaming himself ... Everytime he looks in the mirror he might not even see his current appearance ... just this menacing stare ...
Also, what I believe to recognize is that Eggman seems to got softer over the years. You know like in the beginning he hated nature, life itself and Sonic (of course) so much, that he just wanted to destroy everything. But nowadays it seems he has fun challenging the rodents. It's more of a game ... So I thought it would be interesting if his designs were gettin "softer" too.
And Shard might has the trauma of failing. Never won a battle alongside Eggman. Never enough for Eggman. Constant failure. Everytime reprogrammed. Everytime upgraded. Yeah of course does he want to constantly prove himself.
And yes then there is the fear of abandonment. One mistake and you're just scrap. Trash. You will be left to rot. Nobody will help you, repair you and give you a second chance ... and with Chuck exactly giving him this second chance, he might be really afraid that this hedgehog, this father figure, will also leave him, when he fails.
Oh and then maybe sometimes ... old habits sneak through. I also think there is this fear to go back to his old ways. No control about his "darker side".
I just love these redeeming characters. They try their best π

Robotnik
- shows up everywhere with his pet assistant
- regularly invades his personal and intimate space by PUTTING HIS HAND IN HIS MOUTH and letting him push himself to the wall to berate him with their faces just inches apart
- yells at him how much he LOVES his Latte that the assistant makes (with Latte art depicting them both with little hearts)
- makes a stone resemble the face of his assistant when he gets stranded on another planet in order to have someone to talk to and not feel alone
- comes back from said planet and the first thing he does is refer to himself as daddy in front if his assistant and then drink the Latte with the latte art which the assistant looked at longingly before (which, again, has hearts)
- while heβs out to get high on crystals the assistant plays deviantart dressup and picks out new clothes for him
- he comes back to his assistant handcuffed to a chair and he grabs him by the cheek, rubs it and tells him he smells the electricity in his brain. While someone else is in the room.
- creates a giant robot and makes sure his assistant has a place in it too
- worries about him when he gets knocked out
- presumably gets rescued and nursed back to health by his assistant
- they start living in an underwater crab together
- calls his assistant the only person he can trust
- gets a little distracted by his dead grandpa coming back who turns out just used him and wants to kill himself, him and his assistant (and also the rest of the earth (his assistant tried to warn him in a very desperate plea but he didnβt listen)
- regrets his actions, does everything in his power to prevent his assistant dying the earth from exploding, and sacrifices himself to do so
- livestreams a final message to his assistant to the entire fucking world to see, admitting how much he means to him (they both look like theyβre crying)
AND PEOPLE STILL DONT SEE HOW THIS IS GAY?????????????
