You either die a protagonist, or live long enough to see yourself become the npc.
where's that masterpost of quotes that have no right going as hard as they do. I'd like to submit "Protagonism is best left to teens and the insane"
I am the Keeper
I am the Secret
I am the Answer

Currently rewatching Vinland Saga and recalled how in the middle of this very serious and hard-hitting episode, there's this random villager who looks way too good and he appears for like 1 second and never again, like??? The hell? Idk if this was the choice of the animators or if Makoto Yukimura himself drew him but like why? Why make him so hot if [SPOILERS] you wanna kill him off within the next minute??
My DM allowed me to draw him so here y'all go :>
🤦♀️
an npc from a later part of the first D&D game her arrival into our game marks a significant plot point in the story our group is playing in #dungeonsanddragons #dungeonsanddragonscharacter #tiefling #npc #sorceress #figerdrawing #figerdesign #characterdesign #creture #creturedesign #conceptdesign #conceptart #myart #art #nofilter #sketch
In the first couple of episode of d&d game one there were more player characters than actual players, the result was that i was in contol of a flock of characters halfway between being player characters and NPC's heres some of them. #dungeonsanddragons #dungeonsanddragonscharacter #figerdrawing #characterdesign #conceptdesign #conceptart #mage #wizard #witch #woman #npc/pc #sketch #nofilter #art
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet…but depending on the versions and timelines you follow, the npcs are either dealing with a HUGE(possibly) apocalyptic crisis that’s enough for multiple lifetimes over, OR multiple slightly less but STILL major apocalyptic crises (it really depends on what KIND you’re willing to accept)
Honestly how good the NPC life is depends greatly on what game you're dropped into.
Pokémon? Free healthcare, great company, living the dream.
Legend of Zelda? It's a toss up whether the twink will be a saviour, a menace, or both to you personally. Thankfully, major crises are usually only once or twice a lifetime at most, unless you're a longer-lived race like the Zora.
Mario? There's a crisis every single goddamn year because of the neighboring kingdom. Do you have any idea how many anniversaries and weddings you've missed because of Bowser's horrible attempts at flirtation? Too damn many.
Kirby: See above, but there's a good likelihood you'll be kidnapped or eaten or smth. 2/10 would not recommend.
How much is an NPC supposed to be capable of? I know some suggest giving them the player's capabilities, but does that help when they exist mostly for narrative rather than aiding core gameplay? I feel like mine are lacklustre... but maybe I just need more animations lol.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
Been a bit too busy w commissions and projects recently to work on any actual pieces, so in the meantime take these old doodles
In my campaign there's a magic shop run by an enchantment wizard who suffered a (very) unfortunate turn of fate a few years ago and was brought back as a goblin during the reincarnate spell
A quick stress free doodle
Manfred Higure and Mariah Rose, a completely normal pair of doctors who just happen to run their practice out of an abandoned wine cellar for no reason, really, and whom you should most certainly pay a visit if you find yourself ill, low on gold, and without any friends or family to care too deeply of your whereabouts
My half-orc and goblin npcs from an upcoming campaign of mine! They run a seedy magic shop called the Tusk and Claw
