It’s snowing and I’m not gonna lie, I thought they were lying. It was like almost 50° yesterday. This morning it was 45°. I thought they were lying. And now there’s snow all over the place. Fuck.
I've been obsessed with Frozen again recently since watching it to celebrate New Years Eve so I had to draw my dear Elsa. I wanted to draw her with her old dress on but with her hair down cus I love that iconic moment in Let It Go when she lets her hair down.

This winter has finally been good for something. More snowflakes to photograph. I took this one on my car. Not sure I like the sparkles from the paint but it worked OK. I usually use a black scarf but had to improvise. The paint on my car is rather amazing up close, never realized it was so sparkly.

Vegans and other Aliens
Everything is so careful now, so healthy. So free of parabens, free of gluten, free of fat, free of taste. Careful not to let your kids play in the dirt, careful not to let them watch TV, careful not to let them eat sugar, careful not to let them play with Barbies or be "gender conformative." Vegan this, vegetarian that. They're all aliens to me, delicate little daisies that landed to make this a Martha Stewart Utopia planet.
We live in a hypersensitive world.
Frankly, I'm not to fond of it. I'm sick and tired of people at the restaurants I work in ask me if a corn tortilla is gluten-free, and if we have a gluten-free menu, if we use organic vegetables, if the chicken was treated with love, if the chicken was a good vegan fed chicken and shit like that. Whatever the fuck happened to eating like a real human, eating protein, hearty meat that actually helps build character and not hippie-ass attitudes that cherry pick every "scientific study"' and political correctness innuendo. You are what you eat, as they say. The sensitivity is much more prominent than I had seen before or heard of. I know accepting change is necessary to survive, if we don't change we die- but what about the kids?! The incoming generation of coddled and gluten-free creatures of frailness and weak immune systems because their mothers wouldn't let them play in the dirt.
And it's not just in the new food trends, it's in Facebook and other social media platforms, college campuses and in society in general. I myself have conformed to the sensitivity of others, never posting, never presenting arguments, reading comments on how offended people are, and staying away. I'm not criticizing the snowflakes, I'm criticizing all the people that take offense to anything and everything. As Chuck Palahniuk said in his 1990 Fight Club novel , “You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone and we are all part of the same compost pile.”
As for my experiences on my college campus, it is liberal fascism and irrationality across the board. This new trend of individuals who are open-minded/liberal/accepting being equivalent to them being intelligent and superior is tiring. They make up facts and are praised by professors for thinking "out of the box" and "defending minorities." I'm not saying that's wrong-stand up for what you believe in with critical arguments and facts. Not feelings and tendencies to commit fallacies of every sort. I only say this because I am a part of the minority, and a liberal open-minded student said I was saying something offensive and that I should think about how the minorities must feel. What a load of shit. If you must know what my comments consisted of, I was defending the first amendment rights we all hold in the U.S, including the people who took part in the Black Lives Matter Movement and people who go out in the streets with their KKK clans/groups. You can't defend one and annihilate the other-that's the oppression and feeling of hate you fear so much. We can't protest for hate or racism to end, we can't legislate feelings- it's human nature to loath and hate for nonsensical reasons. It's human nature to complain and then write about it to keep from hurting everybody else's feelings-because you're all pretty little daisy's I can't step on and there's nothing I can do about it except whine like a hippie little shit.

I thought I’d redraw a very old post of mine from last year for the holiday season (I think you can still find the full screen version of the old one in my old acc @snowie-sparks. Just putting it out there if y’all wanna check that out). Above is the new art and below is the old one.
Below is the palette I used and its based on the Disney film “Nutcracker and the Four Realms.” I couldn’t find any palettes for this film so I went and made my own.

Lucius and Narcissa
While I cannot say I like these two, I don’t mind them as much as one would think. Partially, because both really have no substance to dislike; yes, they are cruel, greedy, elitist, and quite a few horrible other things but really all they are, is the greatest example of snowflakes in the wizarding world
“wah.....some person with no history of magic is more skilled than me”
“wah....those with power are trying to help those without”
“wah....people don’t think my son is as great as I think”
on and on and on
Regardless of their complete lack of character and spine, there were a few things I enjoyed. For starters, they really were perfect for each other. True, they needed to be assisted in every aspect of their lives, but they both fawned of their son in separate ways, both held strong beliefs with no interest in taking any related action (my belief about Lucius joining the Death Eaters was because it was the cool thing to do at the time), and both were just blinded by ego and wealth. They are just a morally gross version of Arthur and Molly, they support each other completely in being boringly horrible.
Related to their lack of character, I do enjoy snowflake Lucius as he loses his place in the world and the realistic outcomes he and Peter Pettigrew experience by just being followers, but there are different levels with Narcissa. In a small level, it is funny to see how similar she is to everyone else as, as a side character, we see typical family relationships as she has with her sister, husband and son. And it’s just nice to get that background and reminder.
More telling, unlike Lucius who I think was not only too stupid to see why Voldermort brought Draco into the Death Eaters but also would gladly use Draco just to gain status, I have no doubt that Narcissa would sacrifice herself for her son just as Lily had. And I know I’m right because she already did. Similar to Draco’s questions of morality and evil, while she may have had more alignment with the beliefs of the Death Eaters she had more strength than Draco in knowing and fighting for what truly was most important to her. Considering both put each other over the stupidity of murdering muggles and Death Eaters it’s upsetting, annoying and that dumb-poetic of just TALK to each other and they really could have avoided all this mess. Leave Lucius behind, he’s the weakest link and really it didn’t seem that either would be too heartbroken over it. I mean you guys are already weak, why not just be weak for the good guys. But whatever.
I do enjoy these two, mostly just for a laugh, but also for the reminder that there is no black and white, and that we all need to remember to look past the surface

WIP #3
Didn’t make as much progress as in days before, but with for good reasons! I got blood drawn for my endocrinology appointment, I made a few calls that needed to be made, got coffee with the wife and got her “minter”, and other things I can’t remember that needed done.
And! The husband found a holographic snowflake light to put in the front yard so our house isn’t so dismal against the rest of the neighborhood and their lights.
Today didn’t suck.

I’ve been itching to get back to cross stitching for a while now. I have one all planned out for a friend, but I can’t find my white aida cloth to start. At least, I think it’s big enough for what I need. Not working makes things challenging when needing to purchase supplies. The black aida I purchased earlier this year was just a bit to narrow for what I need, so I decided to repurpose it. To snowflakes, of course! Did a little Google search, found this free pattern and here I am. Also, black aida is a bitch to work on. it feels like a miniature litebrite. I’m a quarter done with it after starting on Friday, which is weird to think. It’s been good for keeping my hands and mind busy, especially with the wife having seizures off and on all day. She was supposed to have an ambulatory EEG this weekend, but our outlets in our 1950s house are too small to accommodate what the tech needed to plug the camera into. Now we get to schedule a 72 hour EEG at the hospital in the middle of respiratory disease hell season. Weeee!
In better news, our plumbing is getting replaced tomorrow. Or rather, the plumbing replacement process starts tomorrow. Jackhammering at 8 am! Who doesn’t love getting woken up to jackhammering right next to the bedroom? Although I just thought of something. Wife’s seizures have been sound triggered as well; this could get really messy.
