I wasn’t going to make an art summary for 2024 because for a good quarter of the year the only artworks I made were high school art assignments, but I decided it would still be fun to share those because I actually really like them and wanted to share art I’ve made that’s out of my norm. Like realism and clay. Honestly I didn’t draw an awful lot this year until September. I also thought I’d share some 2023 art to share my improvement in my art style, and more out-of-my-norm art….

“I am what I am cause you trained me” 🥀. I just realized I haven’t posted any Stranger Things art yet. I’ve been watching this show with my mom since season 2 came out. I was only 11 so in a way I feel like I’ve grown up with these characters and I think that’s pretty special! This show is also special to me because both me and my mom love it, so it’s sort of a mother-daughter bonding thing for us.

I also realized this is the second drawing I’ve done recently with lyrics from the “The Tortured Poet’s Department” album so that’s kinda cool. I love connecting songs to my favourite characters and have been really into that album recently so that’s probably why, haha. I thought “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” was absolutely perfect for El. I’m sure if you’ve listened to the song and watched Stranger Things you’ll understand why ❤️‍🩹

My dear Once and Melvin ❤️. This was actually the first digital drawing I made using some new, more gentle brushes. I wanted my digital version of this piece to have the same softness as the sketch. I wanted to make an art piece of Once-ler when he’s all alone after his company failed because as heartbreaking and gut wrenching as his sadness is, I think it’s such an important part of his story. I think his sadness and how tragic he helps make him feel so human and relatable, because we’ve all been through sadness. It’s an especially important part of his story in my Once-ler-pon A Time AU and something I’m going to explore a lot. (Of course in my AU I’ll give him a happy ending much sooner than in the movie).

I added lyrics from the song “The Prophecy” by Taylor Swift because I think that song fits this part of Once’s story sooo perfectly. That Taylor song has made me so sad since the first time I heard it and Once’s sadness makes me sad so I’ll be honest and say I hurt my own feelings with this drawing. My intention was to vent my own sadness but no.

I also made a blue version because I had this idea that maybe in my AU, Oncekins changes into a blue suit after the Lorax leaves/during his lonely part of the story because blue is the color of sadness. However I’m not sure how I feel about it.

The truffla fluff he’s holding was the one on his jacket btw, but it’s wilting and dying because symbolism.

Here’s a couple of self insert characters of my best friend Monique and I! She’s an Easter Bunny and I’m a tooth fairy! I’ll put all the info about these characters in a “read more”…

Me and my dear friend Monique were having a goofy conversation about “why the Grinch and the Lorax would make a great couple”. I asked what their ship name would be and she said “Christmas Tree” because it’s “one furry man who learned to love Christmas and another furry man who loves trees” and so we started adding more and more fictional characters to this story, calling it “The Christmas Tree AU”. And then she said “what if we’re in this story too” and she told me she wanted to be the Easter Bunny in this AU so I decided I’d be the tooth fairy because I adore fairy and already wanted to make a fairy self insert! So that’s the story of how this came to be! I might make another self insert that’s more serious at some point but honestly I kinda love the tooth fairy concept soooo maybe not, lol!! Here’s a sketch of Monique in “Bunny Form”…

This is my darling Once-ler OC for an AU I’ve been creating called “Once-ler-pon A Time”. I’m not 100% what to call him as he doesn’t really have a theme or any defining characteristics, but I’ve been affectionately calling him “Once” and or “Oncekins” (same things I’ll call canon 2012 Once-ler) so maybe one of those could be his name/what he’s known as on Tumblr?

About my AU: In my Once-ler-pon A Time AU (which I’m gonna write as a fanfic) I squished down the movie’s timeline a lot so that Once will get a happy ending while he is still very young. He’ll still spend time alone (I still want him to be tragic) but not as much. And I’m gonna have him, Audrey and Ted team up against O’Hare who is dictating Thneedville. I’m also gonna explore Once-ler as a character a lot, like his thoughts, feelings, backstory, what he did after his company failed, and all that jazz!!

About my OC: my Once-ler is almost exactly like the Once-ler in the 2012 movie. The main difference is I made all my head-canons about movie Once-ler FOR REAL CANON for my Once-ler!!! My Oncekins is a burnt out given, highly sensitive person who’s extremely creative. He’s constantly belittled, ridiculed, ignored and made to work too hard by his family causing him to crave validation, admiration, love and success. He’s extremely clumsy, can be reckless, a free spirit, and tries being tougher than he is sometimes (because of his upbringing) but he’s really just a hugggeee softie. He can be a bit of a space cadet and he’s very talented.

About this drawing: this is supposed to be Once at the very end of the story where he’s living happily. I gave him a new outfit combining elements of vestler and Greedler and gave him flowers to show he protects nature now (plus it’s cute). I’m not 100% on his ending yet, I feel like he’d give almost all his money away, take care of the earth and spend time on his passions like art and music but maybe he’ll run a nonprofit bakery? I don’t know, something wholesome and heartfelt that can feel healing and comforting to him after all he’s been through. ❤️‍🩹💚 (Also his vest pattern is the same pattern Miru667 used for her Audrey’s dress, just wanted to point that out, that pattern isn’t mine)

I know some people see "Greedler" as a separate character, but I see him as just Once-ler in his silliest, sassiest, most chaotic state (maybe cus he's secretly miserable umm). So with that in mind I thought it would be really funny to draw him drinking red wine (like a fancy rich person would) with a silly straw because he's goofy like that. I also wanted to acknowledge his ridiculous glasses that look like they came from a St.Patrick's Day aisle of a store soooo that's how this was born. Here's the original sketch from my sketchbook...

I also happened to find this meme on Pinterest like a couple days after finishing this drawing and thought it was so funny that somebody had the exact same thought as me.

These are my original mythical creatures. The first one is a “Squibble” and the second one is a “Meepy” (like my username).

Squibble are energetic and playful little creatures that are extremely social, always hungry for berries, and can be a little rowdy. Meepies are mythical creatures that are born the first time a human feels a sense of wistful whimsy. They’re naturally whimsical yet melancholic at the same time, and they’re extremely gentle and sensitive creatures.

I wrote some wholesome, positive messages on these drawings as well because I find them comforting.

I'm new to the Lorax fandom, and kinda shy as I've never been apart of anything like this before, but I'd love to join this year's Thneedmas event!! ❤️💚

Here are the rules!

1) To sign up you must LIKE AND REBLOG the official post for the current exchange. That would be this one! We will try to message people once they’ve been added to the participants list, so look out for that!

2) We will be contacting you via Tumblr Direct Messaging (DM) to first confirm your participation, and then later to send you the name of your buddy. But you don't have DMs on, we will be sending it to your tumblr inbox. Make sure you have your inbox open please! You don’t need to have anon on. If we can’t contact you, you will be taken OFF of the list without warning.

3) If you change your URL after signing up, you MUST tell us. If you will be unavailable to answer DMs for more than 3 days, PLEASE tell us as well.

4) Sign-up starts TODAY (December 1st) and will be CLOSED on December 7th 23:59 EST. You MUST reply to our DM to confirm your participation by December 8th, 6:00am EST, or else you won't be added to the participants list.

5) On December 8th, you will be messaged the name of your secret buddy. They must be unaware that you are their Thneedmas Exchange partner until after the period of posting (December 23rd - January 5th) or longer depending on issues with post limit.

6) If you sign up after the cutoff date, your url will be put on a waiting list for the next exchange. There will be no room for late sign-ups.

7) Gifts can be fanart, fanfiction, fan video, etc. If you have any other ideas for your gift, feel free to get creative. Also, please try to keep them related to The Lorax unless you know your buddy would appreciate something non-Lorax related more (like if they have an OC, for example). Some sketches of Rapunzel, Eugene/Flynn and Pascal. 🫶 This movie is my childhood and actually one of the only Disney Princesses movies I got really into. (Others are probably Brave, Frozen and Princess and the Frog)

I absolutely adore Rapunzel’s short brown hair but I think long golden hair makes her way more recognizable. So for the sake of my drawings, I came up with a head canon that her hair eventually will grow back golden but this wasn’t discovered in the movie because Mother Gothel would repeatedly cut the small brown piece of hair behind Rapunzel’s ear so she didn’t have to look at it and be reminded that she kidnapped this poor girl.

Also ironically I really struggled to get Eugene’s nose right (iykyk)

Some Grinch sketches to welcome the festive season ✨. I watched the 2018 Grinch for the first time since 2021 and I weirdly don’t remember seeing it in 2021 at all. So it was kind of my first time watching it in a way. Me and my mom loved it! It’s so cute and silly and so undeserving of all the hate!! My mom thought the little Grinch was so adorable and I thought the Grinch emotional eating was such a mood so obviously I had to draw both those things.

Here’s a wholesome painting I did of two baby dragons cuddling. 🫶💗 Honestly so proud of this one, I feel like my eyes have been blessed by my own painting. I don’t even care if I sound cocky, that’s how much I love it 💀.

I haven’t been sharing any art that isn’t fanart yet because I’m worried it’s harder for people to find because you have less options for hastags and no targeted fandom. But ya know what, I really like this drawing and I’m gonna post it anyways. This was actually drawn about a year ago for school. We made a newsletter sort of thing filled with writing done by people in my creative writing class and it needed a cover. If I drew this now just for myself and not for a cover I’d probably add more background.

Anybody who plays the Sims 4 has probably seen the super adorable Flower Bunny who is the Sim’s version of the Easter Bunny. I’m obsessed with bunnies so I used the flower bunny suit/costume to create a family of bunny sims. They brought me so much joy and I love them so much so I drew them!

Jackie was the first bunny I made, she runs a bakery, loves cooking and loves metal music because she’s secretly a total badass. Charlie is her boyfriend and he loves reading, writing and is kind and nerdy. Petunia loves animals and nature and I imagine is quiet and sensitive. Delilah is her girlfriend and she is loud, extraverted, funny and loves all things creative.

I drew the characters from the Lorax movie in my own art style instead of Illumination’s while also practicing drawing backgrounds. I think it turned out great. I think Once still looks like himself which was important to me and I think pipsqueak looks so adorable. I think the sleepy little Lorax looks so cute too.

The idea behind this drawing was basically “if Once-ler’s family never showed up”. He didn’t start chopping trees down again until his mom told him to and he very reluctantly agreed, so if they never showed up he probably would have just lived a peaceful life with the animals and the Lorax, selling thneeds at a lower, tree friendly rate.

I promised more Gravity Falls art so here it is 🫶💚. I drew Dipper and Mabel as young adults, they’re 19!

Dipper is mostly the same, I decided to draw him without a hat because I like the idea that he stopped being shy about his birthmark. Mabel I gave highlights, an industrial piercing and belly button piercing, tattoos and false lashes. I also imagine she crocheted the little patches on her pants herself. I think Mabel would be very creative and expressive with her appearance.

I’m really proud of this one 😭💚🖤 . The idea behind this picture was that it takes place some time after Eve and Wall.E save the earth and that the tree they are looking at is the plant from the movie 🫶.

One of the many fandoms I’m in is The Office fandom. This show was a big comfort for me in my tween years and even more so now that I’ve started watching it again at 18. My mom and dad love it too so it’s kind of like a family bonding thing as well. Anyway, I drew all the main characters plus Holly because I absolutely adore Holly!

I’m currently writing an episode of The Office! I’m writing Michael and Holly’s wedding as it’s an episode I’ve always wanted! It’s my first real piece of fan fiction so let me know if y’all want to see it! 🖤

Cus mine’s the young Once-ler from the Lorax movie 💀💀💀 and I always thought I was just weird but then I found out HE HAD A FANDOM??? And there were more dorks like me?!? I was so happy 😅🫶🖤

I rewatched this movie again recently for the first time in probably like five years?? and I’ve been obsessed with it. It’s so cute and goofy and colorful. Soooo here is my Lorax/Once-ler art 🫶🧡🖤 I tried my best to copy the animation style of the movie instead of drawing them in my original art style, but I’ll probably draw him again in my own style cus I love this goofy bean and it appears the people of Tumblr do as well 🖤
