I think early on in vat7k, Hugo, Var and Yong would have to go through the forest of no return in order to get to Nuru's kingdom. At the end of the series, they'd all kinda go on a mini road trip to say goodbye to everyone properly, and they'd drop off Yong first, meaning that Hugo, Var and Nuru would have to go back through the forest of no return. Nuru would've never been so I can imagine her just getting so frustrated she'd kick a tree and it'd unlock a secret path or something
Okay so if Donella is basically unable to use or be affected by magic in any way, then what if Ulla was the opposite? I always found it weird how Donella was the one to trap Ulla in the library, cause like. when would she have the time to trap her. she's gathering her troops, so she's a bit busy.
SO, to fix this, I decided that as a side affect of keeping Donella out and away, Ulla begun to rely on magic to continue living. She's technically half-alive though. She doesn't have a complete physical form, so she often appears see-through and its really disturbing.
The way she learns she can possess things is when she's reading a book and she's not able to focus, so she thinks if she possesses it, shell just absorb all the knowledge. It works, but it makes her feel incredibly sick (not like she can feel sick anymore), and she didn't learn a thing about the book. So when she possesses Varian, she can't access his thoughts or anything.
She kinda destroyed/shut down the portal after throwing Donella out, but she knows that she's practically bound to the library, so if the library was ever unlocked again, she knew that if she left, she'd just disintegrate. Possessing Varian would probably be easier than possessing anyone else, because another of my HCs (that I may have stole from VTT) is that Var has a slight connection to the moonstone, and it's easier to possess magical things if you are magic. The same does not apply with proper ghosts, as seen in s1 with Ruth.
The library would also stop working properly for Ulla, mainly because it didn't like her, but also because she was living off of too much unstable magic, making the whole library unstable. Really putting into perspective how powerful Ulla is.
Hopefully I solved another plot hole, also I may be biased bc I really love Donella and really hate Ulla :/
Can't wait until I start properly planning vat7k and then suddenly everything will make sense and not be a jumble of plot holes in my brain
I have a theory that during Vat7k, Varian didn't go by his real name for a while, but rather Vee or Var. Mostly because if he were to use his real name, he would've been detained (y'know, from the whole coup d'etat and terrorism). I think that Nuru, Hugo, and Yong would've known his real name, but just thought he preferred to be called a nickname.
Idk :3
TAKING INSPO OMG
Obviously Donella and Cyrus are the two main people Hugo worked with, basically being his family, but I feel like some other soldiers would be pretty good friends with Hugo and they alongside sometimes Cyrus (though he's got a bit more of an important job than regular soldiers) would teach Hugo things Donella couldn't if she was to busy, like how to cook or sew
Not saying Donella wouldn't do this, but I can imagine her being at least a little neglectful of Hugo, and some soldiers might take pity on him
I still haven't done anything for Varigo week art wise TT
I might just write lazy ass fics or something if I can
Pretty sure that's still happening and I'm just waiting until I wake up at this point
i distinctly remember dreaming about everyone using Varian as a brush in ibispaint and it was irreversible and terrifying
Okay but what if right after Hugo tells Donella he's leaving her team/gang, Donella takes Olivia and breaks her so Hugo can know what it's going to feel like when he ends up losing the people he loves, aka team radical
Headcanon time!! I like to think that in season 1 or before, Varian sewed little patches onto his apron. Maybe something from a Flynn rider book, something representing the farm he lived on, the Sundrop flower for Rapunzel, a V for his name, etc.
I think at the end of Vat7k, all of his friends and family got together to surprise him with a giant jumper or blanket, where each person made a cute little patch. Even if that person didn't know how to sew or knit or something, it just made it more special. Even if it was super itchy, Var would still keep it
I have no thoughts other than library depression now. I don't even know how a library can be depressed, but it is.
