I don’t understand 3d art but I understand enough to see how awesome this is. The amount of thought poured into this really comes through, love how complete this feels. Like you could just plop it straight into an animation.
Attempted to make another "live action"-style version of a ship from Star Wars: The Old Republic in Blender. This time it's the Flashfire scout ship from the Galactic Starfighter pvp gamemode. I decided to place it on the landing platform of the new Copero stronghold because of its beautiful scenery.
I even fully detailed the interior of the cockpit, which required a lot of "making stuff up" because the only way to see the interior of the ship in-game is by using the mount version of the ship, and that interior is not very detailed at all. I took inspiration from the aesthetics of X-Wing cockpit details for this.
The exterior remains pretty faithful to its in-game appearance, for the most part, but I did have to re-interpret a lot of details to bring the scale of it to a believable place. In some places that meant increasing the level of detail and making greeble parts with thinner shapes, and in some places that actually meant reducing the amount of detail and eliminating unnecessary panel lines that I feel wouldn't be in line with how ships appear in live-action Star Wars.
Texturing this baby was a lot of work, but I really wanted to make the surfaces feel real. I used directional smearing textures in the roughness and sheen weight channels, to create the appearance that the ship had been hurriedly cleaned off with a rag, but perhaps not very thoroughly, so the layers of grease and grime had just been smeared across the surface. This is especially visible in places where I added streaks of soot; I allowed the smear textures to influence the lighter layers of soot, but not in the darker places where it would have already built up since the last time the ship was cleaned.
I also created fully functional landing gear mechanisms, which are being demonstrated in the video. The cockpit canopy also has fully functional hydraulics but I didn't render an animation of them.
I encourage you all to zoom in on the beauty renders, (which I rendered in Blender's Cycles render engine) because there are a lot of details to take in.
I've also included a wireframe render so you can take a little peek behind the scenes.
I love making low poly models, I did a lot of experimenting in the shader editor for this one I hope ya'll like it :D making the galaxy hair was so fun
hey there! I've been working in blender for a while now but I'm really enthralled by how clean and kinda cel shaded your textures look would it be alright to ask what your general shader setup looks like or how you achieve that? thanks!
Thank you for asking! My shader setup is pretty simple, I just use an emission shader or just plug the image straight into the output haha if there're any shadows on my models it's usually painted in by hand I think the biggest thing that helps my shader look so nice is that I change my color management settings from filmic to standard
Other than that I have used the default principled BSDF shader a few times with one of the default "studio lights" or HDRIs as the world lighting
Here's a tutorial on how to set up the HDRIs to be rendered if you're interested
Y'all it's kemmi I made him in 3d I gotta work on the sleeves a little more cus they kinda glitchy but uh I thought I'd post him rn cus he's cute
I love this character it was such a blast to design them with @catmintrose and I had such an awesome time modeling, texturing and animating them in blender I can't wait for art fight next year this year was so much fun thank you @catmintrose for letting me attack you
For your 3D art:
What are your influences?
What is your process for creating and texturing the models?
What software do you use?
Other than that, I will be keeping an eye out for more of your models as you are what I aspire to be as a hobbyist 3D artist.
Thanks for asking! I'll apologize ahead of time I'm not the best a writing but I hope my answers will be helpful and fun to read
1: I'm really inspired by arcane and into the spider verse! I love the way they can make 3d look like paintings or comic books I love to stylize 3d and I hope with more practice I can make my 3d art come off as different 2d styles. I'm also a big fan of the old low poly games look with the silly pixel texture it's kinda a funny balance between wanting my art to look nothing like 3d and wanting it embrace the sillies of the art form.
2a modeling: I start with cubes for almost everything I make. I started my 3d art journey with texturing Minecraft skins so I kinda like cubes, it also makes unwrapping it onto a flat plane for texturing just a bit easier for me. Here's an image with the geometry of my silly mailbox model highlighted.
3: I use Blender to make all my models although I just learned a little bit of 3ds Max in my first 3d animation class, I'm mostly self taught though that being the one semester of a 3d animation class under my belt but youtube has been a gold mine for every question I have about 3d and I've practically learned everything I know about using Blender of youtube tutorials.
2b texturing: I use an add-on called uv pack master in blender to speed up my uv unwrapping process so I can make my texture look nicer faster. As for painting I use the tools in blender to texture my models with a couple extra brushes from another add-on it's outdated though and I should probably find some new brushes lol. This is what my texture looks like btw! It's a little messy but I hope you can find it helpful!
I'm really passionate about 3d animation and almost everything involving it I love talking about it thank you for asking!

As the war rages on between the Commonwealth and Auridia, various divisions of the Commonwealth Initiative Starfleet are deployed to numerous planets throughout Concordia to conduct a variety of operations.
One such division, stationed at a remote base on a far-flung planet, receives reinforcements to better counteract new threats that have popped up in the area.
The Commonwealth raining down hellfire on unsuspecting enemies.
Due to the nature of their Starfleet lacking any sort of heavy bomber, the Commonwealth commissioned the Cavalier-class (shown front and center) as a multi-person, multiple bomber that could both be used in hard-hitting assaults and more isolated exploration/search-and-rescue type missions due to it featuring a spacious interior.

Luigi: Hey Mario, do you remember the meme that about "You'll die on March 31st" in 2021? It's funny to remember again 😂 Mario: Lu, it just my battle royale game to shut down. I'm not dead, Lu.

Normal looking:
Yoshi: Yoshi (I feel bad for you, Bowser). Yoshi (Even you are our villain, it still feel bad). Yoshi (I'm sure they'll make you shine). Bowser: Sounds good a little bit, but *sigh* /_\
It sounds better. However, about Bowser looking:
Yoshi: Yoshi (Thanks for your evil, Bowser). Yoshi (You make us(except Bowser) popular). Yoshi (Make your new idea for next game). Bowser (inside): Oh, I hate your word so much >:(

This is the last of "Brother Forever". I hope you like my render from beginning to end. And, sorry if I'm not making background cause I'm not a blender artist.
