joel finds you out in the cold. your parents haven’t returned from a supply run. you’re alone and scared— so he takes you back to his camp.

Joel slings his backpack over his shoulder and forces himself forward. He knows that stopping to rest now is essential if he plans on getting home, even if he so desperately wants to keep pace and make it there within the next hour. Logic wins. He pulls himself down and rests his fist under his chin.

A shuffle grabs his attention. He immediately pulls his gun, his eyes darting frantically, scanning for a threat. He lowers his weapon once the ‘threat’ enters his vision. A small kid, can’t be above 10. Shivering, clutching a dirty stuffed bear to their chest. You look terrified— rightfully so. With the world you live in now, it would be strange if you weren’t terrified. Joel approaches you slowly. Puts his gun away to show you he means no harm.

“Hey.. you, kid, under the porch. I ain’t gonna hurt ‘ya.” He crouches and offers his hand to you. You’re timid, untrusting. He understands, he’d probably have taught you to be untrusting too if he was your parent. He rolls a water bottle under the crack. You roll it back over his way.

“I promise it’s safe. Watch.” He takes a waterfall from the bottle. Showing you he didn’t do anything to the drink. Rolls it back to you. This time you accept it, gulping it down quickly. You were dehydrated. You haven’t left this spot since yesterday.

“Thank you..” you mutter, still afraid. Joel has a warm aura. You decide that maybe you can trust him. Maybe.

“Yeah. Come out from under there, kid. It’s ’bout to be night time. Don’t want a clicker to get ‘ya. I’ll keep you safe, bud.” He gives you his hand again. You take it. After pulling you out from under the porch he throws his jacket over you, not wanting you to freeze to death on the way home.

“I have a camp. Lots of food. Good things. You’ll like it. Other kids your age. You can play… whatever kids your age do. Learn to shoot, too, if you want. I teach that course.” You shrug. You aren’t sure what you want yet. You just want a warm bed, and to know that your parents are okay. “What were you doing under there anyway?” You both start the journey back to camp.

“Waitin’ for mama and papa.” Your voice cracks as you say it. Joel sighs.

“I’m sorry about that, kiddo. Really damn sorry.” He rubs the back of your head, trying to soothe the hurt, though he knows nothing could repair that wound. He’s lost a daughter before, he imagines it feels just like that, but reversed. Having to lose both your parents.

Hours pass and you’re nearing the camp. Joel can see how sleepy you are. He chuckles. Kids always look cute when they’re tired. “Think you can make it, kid?” You’re barely awake. You give him half a nod. He shakes his head.

“Listen, I can carry ‘ya. I don’t mind. I don’t bite, swear.” You blink, thinking it over. Drowsiness takes over and you reach for Joel. If he wanted to hurt you, he probably would have already. “Good. Good. C’mere, kiddo.” He reaches and pulls you up into his arms, letting you rest your head on his shoulder. “Sweet dreams. When you wake up you’ll be in a warm bed. Safe. I’ll pull some strings and get ‘ya some candy, too. A welcome home gift.”

You’re too tired to react. All you do is yawn and nod, letting the sleep overpower you and finally, it consumes you.

Magnum Reaction To S/O Crying

He would be coming home from a late dance practice, he would enter the apartment expecting to see you greet him, but when he saw you weren’t there, he knew something was up. He heard sobbing from upstairs, he slowly went up the stairs, heart racing, and mind flooded with reasons why you could be crying.

Jihoon

He would run to you and engulf you into his arms “why, why, why, who made you cry?” He would pat your hair, and whisper “it’s okay” over and over again. Would get mad, at whoever made you cry and would hold a grudge against that person forever. After you stop crying y’all would binge on ice cream and watch funny cat videos. But you best believe that he will find out what made you cry.

Yoshinori

His heart would break into a million little pieces, would run up to you and rub your back, while wiping your tears and snot away with the sleeves of his jumper, would whisper sweet nothings into your ear in hope that the crying ceases, which it does, he’ll ask you to explain everything, while you do he’ll hold your hand and draw circles on it with his thumb, occasionally giving your hand a little squeeze, to remind you that he’s still there.

Yoonbin

When he opened the door to your shared bedroom, that’s when he saw you huddled in the corner, wrapped around in a blanket, he would quietly approach you and wrap you around in his arms, not saying a word, just letting you cry into his shoulder, while he rubbed your back, after your crying ceased, he would remind you that he’ll always love you no matter what and that he’ll be with you thick and thin.

Mashiho

When he entered the room a look of confusion took over his face, ‘what could have gotten you so upset?’ He would softly call out your name, not asking what was wrong, but if there was anything you wanted, not replying to this he just hugged you, patting your hair, after the crying ceased he would ask you what happened to make you cry, and if there was anything he could do to make you feel better.

Asahi

Would quietly walk up to you and hug you, he won’t even say anything, he’ll just hug you as tight as he can, and when the crying ceases, he’ll cut to the chase and ask you who or what made you cry, if he was the reason of your tears, he would remove that flaw completely from himself that very second. You two would spend the rest of the evening cuddling.

Doyoung

He was excited to spend time with you, as the two of you had planned a stay-at-home movie night, his heart started to break when he saw you crying. Questions flooded his mind, was he the one that made you cry? He wouldn’t even call out your name, he would just wrap his arms around you and rest his chin on your shoulder, at this point he was also crying. “It’s okay, it’s okay” he would whisper into your ear without knowing the reason for your tears, but that’s okay. After the crying ceased he would ask if he did anything wrong ugh poor bby if he did he would feel like absolute trash and probably feel guilty about it for the rest of his life, and do anything within his power to not to that/say that again.

He would have come home early in the morning from a very exhausting dance practice. He was covered in sweat completely drained, as he walked through the hallway he saw a familiar suitcase in the hallway, he would drop everything in his hands and race up the stairs, only to see you sleeping like a baby. All he had on his face was a beaming smile, he quickly took a shower and got into bed with you, coddling you.

Junkyu

He came home in the afternoon, from a quick photoshoot, that he woke up pretty early in the morning for. He would sigh as he removed his coat while walking up the stairs, all he could think about his fatigued mind and body, and how he would relieve it by sleeping it away, as he opened the bedroom, he saw you putting your clothes into your shared closet, all that fatigue vanished when he saw you. He would rush to you and hug you tightly as possible.

Jaehyuk

He woke up early for a dance practice, and while he was exiting the apartment he shared with you, the second he saw you was when he opened the front door. He would be taken aback at first, thinking that he was hallucinating since he missed you so much. Also, since you hadn’t informed him of coming home earlier than expected, the second that he realises that he isn’t hallucinating, he would start tearing up, and give you a hug, he would hold you in a hug for a while, breathing your scent in.

Yedam

He would be in his built-in studio at home (which also happens to be completely sound proof) you would have entered your shared apartment while he was in the studio working on a few songs, so he wouldn’t have heard you enetering at all. The second you had put all your clothes back into place, you would go into the studio, quietly creeping behind Yedam, then quickly covering his eyes. Now, Yedam would jump from fright since he was so engrossed in the making of his music, thinking that it might be one of the members, but the second he places his hands upon yours, he knows its you straight away. “Baby… I missed you.” He would say while wrapping his arms around you.

Haruto

Would probably be lazing around the house, bored out of his mind without you. But when he hears a knock on the door, he’s confused. He knew it couldn’t be you, since you were meant to come back home from the trip in about two weeks, so he just assumed that it was something that he had ordered online. As he opened the door, expecting it to be the mailman, he would frown seeing you, ‘Am I dreaming?’ Would he the first thought to run through his mind, Haruto would squish your face in different directions, messing up your hair, to see if it was too good to be true. You slapped his hand away made him realise that he wasn’t dreaming, “Why are you back?” He obviously said this with good intentions, poor boy would be confused as to why you came earlier than you told him you would, “It was meant to be a surprise” is all you can say, he would stare at you blankly for awhile before breaking out into a cheesy grin.

Jeongwoo

Like Haruto, would also be lazing around. Singing random songs while surfing the internet. When he hears the door knocking, he would straight away get up and answer it, he was aware of the fact that you had told him you would be coming home two weeks later, but that didn’t stop him from hoping that it was you at the door, you who had come home earlier. But when he opens that door and the smell of your perfume hits him, he throws his arms around you, “Y/N! Welcome home!” Would drag you and your luggage inside and let you rest while he made you some ramen.

Junghwan

He would be halfway through the hallway, frozen. He was staring at you confused, since it was completely unexpected. But that confusion would wash away quick, he would hug you and then show you all the dance moves he had learnt while you were away, while you show him all the gifts you bought for him.
